UNSANITARY! All 3 of the workers wore gloves. Great, FOR CROSS CONTAMINATION. They were taking orders, touching the computer screen, taking money, and MAKING SANDWICHES with the same gloves on. I politely asked for my sandwich to be remade with clean gloves and the guy starts remaking it with the same gloves smh. As soon as he grabbed the new bread without changing his gloves I asked for a refund. Whoever the tall guy with the afro (mike? Matt? Mark?) then said "we are allowed to touch the toppings with our gloves". I said that's fine I just wanted clean gloves to be used. He then gave me my refund and I left. I got major attitude just for asking for clean gloves. That was my first time going to Penn Station. Maybe I'll try a different location with better service and more sanitary. read more

I'm from Philly so I was leary about my Michigan friends and the Yelp reviews saying these are the best. The cheesesteak is good, but if you've been to Philly, don't expect it to taste the same. I'm a big fan of this franchise. The food is delicious. The staff is carrying and genuine. The establishment is usually pretty clean. It's preferred location but it so does a fine job. My first ever Penn Station meal was here many moons ago and I've been enjoying it since. I recommend the Chicken Teriyaki, Chicken Parmesan, and the Founder's Special. The latter is a Philadelphia cheese steak but with teriyaki sauce. Overall it's a little pricey but generally worth it. read more

Well wife and I have been wanting to try this place forever and we finally did yesterday. I got the grilled Italian sub and wife got the cold Italian plus a large order of fries. All I can say is we just found our new favorite sub shop. The grilled Italian was loaded with meat and cheese and so was the cold Italian and the fries were fresh cut and tasty just like a crispy baked potato. We got a very friendly helpful cashier when we came here to get subs the other day, the cook nailed the order and it just made our day.

They have fresh cut French Fries that are amazing along with their lemonade. They do things right at this place. It may take longer than 3 minutes to get your sub but they are fresh grilled and the products are great. My personal favorite is the Italian Sub. They also have great online games that you can play and you always win something, usually a free fry or lemonade. I would definitely recommend signing up for their email club or joining their Facebook page. read more

The food here is excellent, but they get my order wrong almost every single time. Today, I got charged for 2 extra fries and 2 extras lemonades that I did not order. I got the 2 extra fries in the bag (realized when I got home), and I never got the 2 extra lemonades at all. Also, both subs were supposed to have lettuce... no lettuce on either. The customer service was fantastic and the sub was delicious (a little on the pricey side, only because I rarely eat fast food $7.08 for a 6" and fries) . Wow, talk about your night and day.... We eat at the Novi Penn Station around once week and love it. But this location in Clinton Twp, MI..... TERRIBLE. The guy who took our order, not able to communicate effectively (little slow), but the real issue is around the "fresh cut fries". In fact, at this location, that is an oxymoron. We ordered a medium fresh cut, but when they arrived with our order, they were greasy and not "fresh" looking. I returned them and asked them for a newly cooked order. What they delivered was either A) A recooked order of fries or B) the oil is old and or the temperature is off. I asked why the fries were so off, as they were really crispy and small (inedible) and the cook said "we cut every morning and then store em' in his here bin, then we cook 'em". Hmmmmm, so it's "fresh cut" if you are there when they are prepping in the morning, I guess. Bottom line, between the incompetent staff and the inedible food, this location is an embarrassment to the Penn Station name and I feel slighted by not leaving satisfied. I thought the Company maintained some level of standards, cutting potatoes and storing them for 6+ hours before severing them..... not exactly "fresh cut" and I suspect that is operating outside of the Penn Station guidelines and ultimately, why these were not good. read more

This is the best sub place I have ever been to in my life!!! Amazing quality subs served hot with fresh ingredients. The bread is phenomenal and I have had several of their subs and every time I can't believe how good they are! My favorite is the pizza and chicken parmesan sub seriously like nothing I've ever had. the BEST!!!!! And don't even get me started on their chocolate chip cookies... To die for. Came here to eat a late dinner, around 7:30. weren't busy at all. First, the guy who puts cheese on the subs and toasts them wasn't wearing gloves, after we asked "shouldn't he have gloves on?" The cashier said that wearing gloves isnt"FDA recommended" weird, because anywhere else you go, such as jersey mikes, subway etc they all wear gloves. After that we just let it go ready to eat, asked for two water cups. My boyfriend and I were eating and after I already drank half my cup of water he turns it around and asks what's written all over my cup. THE CASHIER GAVE ME THE CUP FOR CUSTOMERS TO PUT TIPS ON. the lady who gave me the cup couldn't even come out and apologize to me, she went and hid in the back! I've been going to this place for years while being stationed at Selfrige ANGB. The philly cheese is my favorite. The fries are either off or on. My only draw back is that when I call in my order they usually tell you 10 minutes and everytime that I get there, I always have wait an additional 15 minutes for the fries. Great Food! read more

I enjoy this little spot. My son is a firefighter an he gets the chicken cordon blue (which fills him up), always says it's nicely made, a I get the Italian. Friendly laid back atmosphere, and good pricing as well. All you have to do is order, sit back and they bring you your food fresh and hot and I've never had a bad experience. I've never had Penn Station before, but needed a place to grab a quick lunch while in the area. And if I'm in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate coming back here again. The fries were great -- steaming hot, crisp and fresh. The way Five Guys wish their fries were. The sub was very good, with vegetables still fresh crisp. Penn Station's Philly Cheesesteak, enough said. If you are looking for a hardy meal that is delicious and consistent every time then come here. A friend of mine recommended this place and I've been coming back ever since. I've tried a few different subs on the menu and they are great but I get the Philly every time, it's on another level. Too good to pass up. The only thing I'd say that is a negative about this place is that their subs are on the skinny side and priced a little higher than what I would expect at a sandwich place. I have always loved Penn Station subs. I have been a customer at the Clinton township (Gratiot) location for years. However the service I experienced last night will prevent me from returning. I'm sad about this, because I really love their subs. I ordered my family dinner online, an order totaling close to $60.00 - 1 small sub and 3 large subs, with a large fry, carry-out. My son went to pick up the order and brought it home. I immediately realized we had only 3 subs. I called the restaurant immediately (hey, mistakes happen - they will bring me the missing sub). I explained the situation to the person who took my order. He kept me on the phone for awhile asking me multiple questions, saying he couldn't find an order that had been placed in my name. He was extremely rude, did not apologize once for the mistake. He finally found my order and asked which sub was missing. I then asked if they could simply bring me the missing sub - because this location DOES offer delivery, (I live 2 miles away) he said no, he was too busy. I did not think this was an acceptable answer. There was no customer service in this situation and I told him so. He hung up on me!!!!! My son drove BACK to the restaurant and got the sub. My son asked if we could have a coupon for a future free sub for the inconvenience. He was told no. He asked if he could speak to the manager. He was told "he's on the phone right now, he can't talk." My son said he would wait for him to get off the phone. After sitting there 10-15 minutes he was told "the manager isn't here. Come back tomorrow." We will not go back to speak to the manager. These were the very LAST Penn station subs I will order from the Gratiot location. read more

My husband went and picked up 2 subs from the Gratiot location. When he ordered, HOPE at the register, charged his card for $240. After swiping, she said "oops" and obviously reversed the charges. My husband ordered mine "east coast style" that comes with: Try it "East Coast Style" Your choice of meats, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, banana peppers, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper, oregano, mayo. ^taken right off their website. When he got home, the sub have NOTHING on it. Just meat and cheese. We called to let her know, and she told my husband she didn't know what east coast style meant. She may have been new, but she needs to get herself together! We love the Rochester location and have never had a problem there. read more

I will not be returning to this location.... it was dirty - I called my order in, and the cashier tried to get me to pay again. I had to ask for my drink, my "hot" sandwich was cold by the time I ate it, because they said they don't drop the fries in until the customer gets there to pick up their order so they are fresh. I saw the place on Google maps, so I decided to check it out. When I saw the prices I went into sticker shock! $9.99 for a footlong sub! I had the 10" philly cheesesteak sub and a small fries and ice water for close to $11.36. A small pop will run you 2 some odd dollars. McDonald's any size pop is a buck. I'm just comparing pop prices of 2 fast food places without waitstaff. Now that Mickey D's sells $1 pop everyone else should do it. Now back to the sub: it was delicious. They put the same amount of stuff on the subs as Subway though so why is it more? The fries were nice and crispy and they simply grab an unskinned russet potato and put it through a hand operated fry cutter and fry it in some oil. I wonder what type of oil they use and what temp they fry it at because when I did that with vegetable oil they were soggy as hell. The value for money factor is the main downside to this place. Also the spot where you sit on the barstool and have a little ledge was in need of a clean off, but the place was busy too. read more
