I appreciated that someone employed by this location answered the telephone 20 minutes after their posted opening hours after only 5 repeated attempts of leaving the phone ring 10 times (a total of 50 rings) and advising that they were not open yet. He agreed to let me know the location is not available for an oil change for at least a week if I wanted to schedule the appointment - but I could take my chances to just drive down, but be here before 4pm because that's their new closing time. It worked out great for me to go to my local oil change place instead. The whole experience at the other place was the same price & done in less than 30 minutes! I had gone to a different Pep Boys location 6 times trying to figure out why my tires kept deflating. They had "fixed" them numerous times and still I had to keep going back. The last time I went they told me they didn't have what they needed and directed me to the location in Orange so they could deal with it. And I'm glad they did. Thankfully the team in Orange listened to my issues, were understanding, and were much kinder than anyone I had dealt with before. They fixed my issue and gave me peace of mind. I took my car over to Pep Boys on a random day off to replace a burnt out headlight bulb. Found out while I was there that my taillight was also out and needed a new assembly. They would need to order this part and they would have it by Thursday or Friday (this was Wednesday). Out of pure laziness I went ahead and approved the charge and they would call me when the part was in-house. A week later (it was not specified that they meant NEXT Thursday) I got the phone call that the part was there and I could bring my car anytime during business hours and they'd get me right in. Went in that Sunday morning and the ONLY person manning the store was able to help me after a 20 minute wait. A few minutes later he finds me to tell me the part is not there, he'll check again and will call me later. Later turned out to be Wednesday, and I was assured the part was there. I know, I should've just canceled the sale right then and there but it was easier to try again than start from the beginning. Went back the following Sunday only to be told it would be about a 3 hour long process. Got a ride home only to get a call from Pep Boys a little later that the part sent was the wrong part. Went to go get my car and collect a refund but lo and behold they had no power and the system was obviously down. I was assured I would get a call on Monday, so on Wednesday that call finally came in. Yes, since I would have to go in anyway to get a refund I just let them finish the job. 4 trips to the garage, no timely communications and not one apology. I'm a very easy going person and I understand mistakes happen. I probably would go back and not post this review if they had let me know they value my time and patronage, but they clearly don't. My wife called the location looking for chains. They put her on hold for 10 minutes. We live close by so she just drove over while on hold. When she walked in 4 employees were standing with no customers playing on their phones. By the way she was also holding our baby. She asked for chains. They didn't have them. Ok. Could have been answered on the phone. She then told them that she was one that was on hold. She offered to show one of the employees her phone to prove the call. He said that's not necessary. 5000 miles ago I took my car to these guys for an oil change. I was advised by the service manager to get an alignment and engine/cabin air filter replacement. They did not know I had just gotten an alignment within the past few days. I asked what their recommended service interval was and they said to do these services with every oil change (LOL WHAT?!). I declined and handed them a new Mobil1 oil filter to install on my vehicle with the oil change. 5000 miles later I get an oil change at a Ford dealership and ask them to save the old filter and note the oil condition. An EcoGard oil filter came off the car. Not only did these guys steal my oil filter, they are Full-Scam. Stay away. Stay far, far away. From the condition of the oil, I wouldn't be surprised if they filled conventional and charged for full synthetic. read more

When I checked in the person who helped quoted me a price of $120. Called my husband and let him know what I was quoted and he said it was a little high. I started to look online and online the price $100. When I checked out I let the person know and stated that the online price was cheaper he honored the online price but left me thinking and unsettled on why they would quote me more in-store. don't bother getting an appointment, it's not going to help. A simple oil change should have taken about 30 minutes, by their own admission. But after waiting for a few hours, I was told they still hadn't started on my car yet. And after they finally finished (by about the end of the third hour), they informed me they didn't check on the leaky gasket i had told them about even before they had started. Go to an Oil Stop or something similar if you can, but even if you want to wait the extra time, apparently they won't even address the things you asked about. I will never come back. read more

I've only been there once for service. That was this January(2020). Got new tires and all the things that needed to be changed. For my 2010 Black Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor(Batmobile). Took nearly two hours. But he did tell me since I was being squeezed in last minute, it would take longer than expected. This is something I blame the mechanics for because I know I was some of the first people to come in as a walk in. It's a tire change it can be done in 20 min and I saw multiple mechanics talking taking their time while waiting to check in my car/pick up and it's really annoying. They had no sense of hurry because they know they do not deal with the customer service part of then job. David on the other hand who was dealing with the front was super nice and helpful and I understood he was doing all he could to help me. About two weeks ago I was headed out of town and wanted to get my tires balanced prior to my trip - I had a little shake around 65 mph, but nothing crazy. Stopped in around 6PM and they told me it would be at least 2 hours. No worries, I'll come back another time. Fast forward to today when I have an appointment to get my tires balanced. I thought that certainly an appointment time, and a simple tire balance would have me out and back on the road in maybe 45 minutes, an hour tops - based on every other time I've had this done, I think that just balancing (no mounting etc) 4 tires can easily be done in 15 min each. After I walked in, it took nearly 10 minutes and 3 different employees before I was even greeted with a "be right with you". Just to be clear, no acknowledgement of me personally, just a general statement made to no one in particular. After another few minutes I was finally asked why I was there. I was then quoted 1 1/2 hours before the job would be done - now bringing the approximate time for my balancing to 1:45 so I just left. 2 hours with no appointment, basically 2 hours with an appointment - just don't go unless you're ready to spend 2 hours waiting for a quick job. read more

Went in on Saturday to purchase 4 new tires for my 2018 SUV. Didn't drive my car until Monday. This morning (Tuesday) the low tire pressure light came on so I told myself I'd go to pep later. I was driving to work on the freeway and a woman kindly rolled down her window to let me know my tire was freakishly low. My husband walked in, IN PERSON regarding the transfer case oil on our Jeep, the guy he spoke to asked us all the right questions including all the information he needed to get the correct oil from the dealership. We got an appointment for the following Saturday at 8am (today). We get to our appointment and my husband speaks with Daniel who informs us that they do not do that service there and doesn't know why the other guy made us an appointment in a rude demeanor. We will definitely NOT be going back. There's an obvious lack of training and communication here between staff and is very unprofessional and a waste of our time. Save your time version: Don't waste your time coming to this Pep Boys. I was taken advantage of and was charged for services that were not completed. This experience was a dumpster fire. Full version: I'm in the Navy and my husband and I just moved from Mississippi to California. After the long drive across country our vehicles both needed a little bit of maintenance. I decided to take my husbands car to Pep Boys because I had a good experience with them in the past. Not this location, but the company in general. This review is about the location in Orange, California located on 215 East Katella Ave. Front desk employee: Caleb Mechanic (according to receipt): Miguel V I went back to get my husband's car. I needed an oil change, tire rotation, and a tire repaired. I was quoted $106 for the work and service. I was asked by the front desk clerk (Caleb) the year of the vehicle, I was uncertain of the year and the clerk said that he would be able to look at the vehicle and figure it out. I explained that it was my husband's vehicle and I don't drive it very often and that he was taking my car to work today so I was trying to help him out by getting his car's maintenance done. I think that's where I went wrong. I clearly didn't know enough about the vehicle or what was going on in that situation so the employees at this location, saw an opportunity to take advantage of me. They took my vehicle for a couple of hours and said they are going to take care of the work for me. I came back with about 15 or 20 minutes left until my car was ready. Once it was ready, I saw the new service breakdown. The services at this point cost around $126. The price went up for some unknown reason, the reason wasn't explained. I also didn't ask. That's how much trust I put into this business. That trust was misplaced. When my husband got home that evening he asked how everything went with the vehicle. I said it went great. I was still unknown to the horrors that were to come. To make a long story a little bit shorter, the oil wasn't changed. The tire was not repaired. And the tires were not rotated. The oil was showing that it was a quart low... and all of a sudden it was leaking! The tire was still flat. And the brake dust was undisturbed giving evidence that a tire rotation didn't happen. We were furious. The next morning my husband called every number that he possibly could to get a hold of somebody important or that could fix this problem. He was able to get in contact with the district manager (Ron), who has been very helpful and trying to remedy this problem. However, all I wanted was to pay my $126 and have the work that I expected to be done, be done properly. My husband went to the same location in Orange California the next day and he was greeted very rudely with employees that denied his claims. Our money was eventually refunded in cash. This situation has become "a thing". The district manager (Ron) there has been extremely helpful by trying to fix this problem. Conclusion: Do not go to this location. I was taken advantage of by this location. Unfortunately, this will happen to many other women. That is not the world we need to live in. Do your job. Do your job at the quality your company expects. This was a terrible experience with this company. I feel discriminated against as a woman in this situation. I challenge anyone to question the work/services being done at this location. The credibility of the employees at this locations needs to be questioned. This is bad business and it's being cultivated from somewhere (maybe there, maybe not). Stop doing this. This is in no way a slam at the larger scale at Pep Boys. District manager Ron has been very helpful (I don't think he would create a culture at Pep Boys that discriminated against women or lesser informed customers). I know this review will hurt those involved and I'm sure higher management is mortified this happened. I hope this activates more awareness in the company about what's happening in the trenches of the company. By far one of the BEST Pep Boys I have ever been to! I came in to have wheels installed and had Chris help me out from service, he got me set up with Bender. Both Bender and Chris looked at the wheels and made a great recommendation on getting lug-nuts. The ones that came with the wheel fit but it would have been safer to do ones that were a bit longer to sit flush. Ran down the street to grab some, came back they got my truck looking amazing in under an hour and half. I highly recommend asking for Chris and Bender both had solid advice, gave great recommendations, and went above and beyond for the customer. Im a customer service manager in the Auto industry and both of these guys exemplified what excellent service looks like! I really appreciate how hard they worked! It was about 5:00PM and I knew they closed at 7PM so I called ahead to confirm I could still bring in my car which needed front breaks- the gentleman on the phone looked it up and confirmed they had the breaks and could take me. I then drive over and walk in- first off there's 2 gentleman, one doing paperwork and one with a customer so I wait patiently for either to become available, the gentleman doing paperwork then calls me over to help, I explain to him I was bringing in my car for front breaks, he turns to the other man and asks if they could still take me and he said "naa have her leave it". And the gentleman asks me if I can leave it and I tell him no, I have work in the morning. I let him know I had called ahead and he turned to the other man and asked him if he spoke to me and he said "no, what time did she call" and the other guy looked at me so I said 5:00 and the other man responds "she didn't talk to me, maybe she called the wrong place". But this man is literally maybe 4 feet away from us, why is he talking like I'm not there? He was very rude and just made me an invitation not to return. I just moved to the OC recently so it was my first time here. I'll probably try the one on Lincoln instead for the breaks. The guys that helped me seemed to have good integrity, great communication, quick service, and were not pushy about any of the repairs and gave me options. As an update, I took my truck to Joe Harrington and he examined and said I still had 30% left on pads. After driving 3 more months, I took back to him and he replaced the rear brakes only, and said the rotors were fine. $200 compared to the 1250 pep boys wanted to steal from me. Made on appointment online and upon arriving was told that only one person that could perform the diagnostic check had called off for the day. After expressing my frustration with the situation of renting a car, taking time off work, etc Chris stated that "I was not being very sympathetic or understanding for his employee's family emergency" After a further heated exchange Chris recommended the Pep Boys in Anaheim Hills - while that would have been a completely acceptable alternative to not getting the work done at the location in Orange - I was so disappointed and angry that Chris didn't offer the Anaheim Hills alternative at the beginning of my visit that I just took my car to a near by auto center. read more
