WOW, is this place a ripoff. My son was given an estimate of over $1000 to replace his water pump. On the estimate, they were charging $183.41 for the water pump, but a quick search of the Pepboy website shows the price of part #994518 as $62.24. The same outrageous markup on part #9094868. It was $23.33 on the estimate, but $7.99 online. Part #8639169 is $40.47 on the estimate, but only $14.99 online. Part #9850123 is $62.48, but only $18.74 online. Then they added $532 in labor for a job that took me 2 hours and $75 in parts to repair. The work order number is 0806-2221206, feel free to look it up. Better yet, I am attaching the screen shots and a copy of the estimate. I have been a customer of over 40 years, but this is my last visit. read more

I went in just for an oil change. I had made an appointment before coming in. The manager told me I would have to wait. This was my first time at this location, so I tried to be accommodating to his situation; however, 1 hour and 30 minutes later, my car had not even been put in the bay to be worked on. When I asked for my keys, one would expect an apology. But all the manager could muster was, "I told you it was going to be an hour to an hour and a half wait." To be clear, he NEVER said that, and even if he had, I was already at the 1 hour and 30 minute mark. So it was obviously going to be much, much longer. His response, or lack thereof, was not only inappropriate and unprofessional, but it was a clear indication that he had no intention of apologizing. This kind of attitude showed me that the manager had no respect for me or my time, and I was absolutely appalled. read more

Thank you thank you thank you to Orange Pep Boys for FINALLY fixing my front brakes! I had previously visited a Pep Boys in West LA where I'm based, to get my front brake pads and rotors replaced. After $440 spent, my brakes were still squeaking. After a few weeks, I decided to come to this location while visiting my parents who live in the area. They took my concerns seriously, but unfortunately the brakes were still squeaking after my visit there. I was livid and frustrated as you could imagine. I called back and they immediately agreed to make it right. They gave me an upgraded version of the rotors - free of charge and new pads for both my front and back brakes. WOW! No more squeaking and I can finally feel comfortable and safe in my car again. read more

I just wanted a simple oil change as well as checking on my brakes. I made an appointment at 2:30 and got there at that exact time with my girlfriend and gave them everything they needed. I went to McDonald's for 40 mins and when we came back, we saw my car still in the driveway and thought it was maybe because they were busy. Most of their workers were just talking instead and I saw like 1 or 2 of their mechanics working on the cars. My girlfriend and I started to wait at least another hour and a half and they finally got my car loaded in the dock. After waiting 45 minute they came to ask for me and I was hoping that they were done, but no they wanted to show me something on my brakes that if I wanted done and I said no because that would had taken longer. We still had to wait in the lobby as it was 6 pm. I got impatient and decided to ask how it was going, Humberto, a manager looking fella went out and came back after 5 minutes and said it was done, and he was waiting for the paperwork, it took another 5 minutes for him to get embarrassed and told me he'll call me when it was done. After 10 more minutes of waiting he actually said it was done. Humberto told me that he'll help me at desk 3 then as I came to him he went to desk 2 and said I'll help you here then back to desk 3 and thought that was a waste of time and idiotic toying with me like that, I have no idea why he did that. It was 6:30 pm as it took my oil change and free tire rotation 4 hours to finish, what a waste of a day. Only go here if you want your time wasted. UPDATE: pep boy assistant manager of this area known as daniel finished talking to me today and we came to an understanding of customer appreciation and he shown me what a valued customer I am and how he is terribly sorry. I thank him for the thing I wanted most in my time of waiting and impatient ness. Daniel took the time to talk to me and apologized for the delayed time that was unnecessary and how he was sorry that his employees didn't treat me with such care as time passed. Best experience out of all the Pep Boys I have visited in OC. Richard was quick to answer my call, great customer service & honest with the wait time. He advised me they would be able to finish my Lyft inspection the same day. (3 other Pep Boys told me either the "machine" is broken, appointment only, or they were simply too busy) When I came in, Fernando greeted me despite being busy. Once he finished taking care of a customer, he let me know the inspection would be done a lot quicker than expected, and came through with his promise. Great people, great experience! read more

This pep boys totally ripped me off and took advantage of me. I spent $700 here for them to replace multiple things that didn't even need to be replaced. My normal mechanic told me it was obvious what needed to be fixed from the start, but instead the mechanic at pep boys claimed there were other issues. They just stood in front of me blatantly lying about the work that needed to be done because they knew I was a young girl who wasn't an expert on cars. I knew mechanics do this going in, and I feel so stupid for ever letting these people take my money. I knew there was something off when they fixed my car so quickly... NEVER go here. read more

Took my car in at 6:00 PM to get a tire pressure sensor replaced. After writing up the service order the person told me that they could not do the work that evening as the person in front of me had just taking there last slot. The service person made me an appointment for 6:00 PM the following night and promised me that I would get priority and they would complete the work. I returned the following night at my appointment time and a different service person told me that they could not perform the work for the second night, even though I had an appointment, but maybe they could do it the next night. I took off early from work the next day and arrived 45 minutes earlier then the previous nights. After three trips to this place, they final said that they would complete the work. Upon completion of the work I left to get gas. At the gas station I noticed that they had damaged the clear coat on the rim while replacing the TPMS. Lesson learned: don't rely on an appointment at this shop as its not going to help; take pictures of your rims before they start work so that you can make them repair all the damage that their service people, that don't know how to perform the work properly, cause. I've been buying my tires for myself and my children's vehicles for over 30 years and this is the last time that I will be returning. It's not the same Pep Boys. read more

He was patient not just with me but with 2 other customers I saw him working with that seemed a little bit demanding & required more attention. I ended up with bad news about my vehicle but he was very nice about it & I could tell he was very good at representing the brand & following policy. Never did I feel pressured to go forward with anything I didn't want to do. I did decide to see if it is something I can try to handle myself but I can tell that they would completely stand behind their service & would do quality work. Absolutely terrible experience with Richard at the front counter. Classic "I dont know so I'm going to pull something out of my behind". We got a flat a day before and had to order a tire that was not in stock. That's fine. Caleb, super cool and honest dude, says that it was in the following morning. I came in the following morning and handed in my invoice. Richard says that their deliveries usually dont make it in until the afternoon and cannot work on it until the tire was in. Understandable. I thought it strange because he did not check any systems or computers even when I showed my invoice. So I go home. Not five minutes later after I had driven home, Caleb calls and says that everything is ready to go as soon as I come in. Okay. I come back in 20 mins later and Richard greets me again and dares to ask smugly "oh is your tire in?", walks around the corner and starts messing around with the employees (not their fault). Like dude, I'm standing right here waiting and you're messing around right in front of my face. Absolutely unacceptable. So I stand in line for another 5 min while Richard walks around and then asks if I'M READY to check my car in. I ask how long itll take, I didnt care, I just needed to arrange a ride to pick it up. He beats around the bush and makes sure I know it will take a while but never says how long. Like I had told him before, I just wanted to know. 2 hours. Last 2 hours I will ever give to this location. TL;DR: abysmal service from Richard, Caleb is a pro dont waste your time or money here, you're better off going to the jiffy lube down the street. read more

WHAT HAPPENED! This store used to be huge. It was very cool, walk in look around, all kinds of cool car stuff. Now the store is a quarter the size, the rest is blocked off for parts storage and warehousing. I could not even pick out my own blinker bulb, had to go up to the parts counter. Long overdue review. This place was a bright shiny spot in my horrific day and I'm so thankful. I had purchased a new Bosch battery from Pep Boys less than a year prior to this incident....but was experiencing battery drain, and was getting stuck needing a jump. I took out my battery and brought it over for testing. Turned out battery was charging but all the cells were bad, so it couldn't keep the charge. Well, it was a 3-year free replacement battery, but they couldn't find my purchase record in the computer, I was about to flip my lid. But the manager on-duty just handled it for me and I was off and running. I tell everyone to get their auto needs at this Pep Boys. I was so grateful and feel so much appreciation for this gesture.
