Making an appointment here is a joke. I made an online appointment, and they called to confirm it. That was good. I printed out my work order at home for faster check in. I was all checked in and my car inside the shop by 2:15. That was good. After that it was all downhill. They were supposed to read the code for a check engine light, and tell me what was wrong while I waited. After an hour, still nothing. They sent a mechanic to look at it, which took 5 minutes. He came back and told me it was a "knock sensor" which was not a big deal and could wait to be fixed. That was bad. I had ordered 4 new tires to be installed, balanced, and aligned. At 3:15 they told me it would take about an hour. I had a few errands to complete before 6:00 PM on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon. But it would be difficult to get across town and back, on foot, in an hour. They said I would be out the door by 4:30 PM. By 4:30 they had not even installed one tire! Lots of other customers had come and gone. Some had appointments, but a few walked in without appointments while I was waiting and got service before me. It's now 5:25 PM and they have not started the alignment yet. Totally sucks! I usually come to Pep Boys because they are open on evenings and weekends. Their tire prices are OK but not that different than other local places. I always plan on an hour or two for service, because they are busy. There are few things I hate as much as being jerked around about how long something will take. They could have said, come back at 6:00 PM. I could have walked and finished my errands. But no, they lied and made me stay there and wait. I will not get out of here before 6:00 PM when they close. I did not get to go to any of the other places that also close at 6:00. Instead I got to sit in a hard plastic chair and look at their filthy blue linoleum floor, and watch kids jump on the furniture. So annoying! My advice if you go to Pep Boys: Drop off your car. Wait 4-6 hours for a one hour job. They will lie to you about when to pick it up. Don't fall for it! Come back and get your car when it is convenient for you. If you wait, it's horrible! read more

I went in to upgrade my tires and after six hours drove away with the same tires I came in with. I was told two hours max. Then my car was next, one hour. Fifteen minutes before closing, I'm told in the most insincere manner that I'm out of luck because they simply couldn't get to it. How long does it take to change four tires? The worst was watching how SLOWLY they moved back there. They should cover the window as it's embarrassing to watch the overweight mechanics saunter from car to car, staring blankly up at the chassis, then only to walk back to the computer. I won't be back. One there is no where to park because they use the lot for Hertz rental cars. I came in to get tires, an alignment, and an oil change because I was going on a road trip. When I picked the car up it was still pulling to the right severely and I brought it back to be redone. I was told it would be an hour. After an hour had passed they still hadn't brought my car in. I went to talk to someone and they said there were other cars in front of mine. When I told them that was unacceptable I was told those people have appointments. Excuse me but if you had done the alignment the first time I wouldn't even be here. It's not okay to not do the work correctly and then punish the customer. Was recommended to get my oil changed, that went well however they attempted to have me get two new tires (granted I knew they were needed) for $320, when the tire cost $77 each. They also recommended a new filter (not sure of price) and an alignment for an additional $100. I took the car to Costco for new tires....only $150 more than their price for all 4 tires...and the alignment was not needed at all. I understand needing to upsell but gauging people at crazy high prices isn't right for a "professional" business. Go support the local body shops!! read more

A few issues with this place: The customer service they provided me was misleading and cost me money. I'm out $60 from the rental service they offer here through Hertz because they told me I could return the car any day. You can not return the car on weekends, and other Hertz locations do not offer good help if you call. You may return your Hertz vehicle to the LAX location if you need to return it, but I am under the impression they will charge. Additionally, the Lyft representative there, named Cedric, did not fully explain the policy for returning deposits. I tried to call the store, and the Lyft/Hertz representative there wouldn't allow the Lyft representative to answer a quick question about it over the phone, saying "they don't have access to the phone" when in fact Cedric was sitting very close nearby. I had to go in again to find out what would happen to it. I specifically asked Bryan and Lindsey if I could return the Hertz car at any time and they said yes. There was no one available to answer any questions about returning the car on the weekend when I attempted to on Saturday. My only recourse is to call their managers (whoever they are) and to complain or to take Hertz to small claims court. Ouch. There wasn't even a way to leave the car at the location on the weekend. Pep Boys shouldn't allow this to go on at their business. When you work Lyft you are paying to make minimum wage. It's dangerous. You have no benefits, no overtime and your income is dependent on the price of gas and tips. Go to the Lawndale Pep Boys instead, where this doesn't happen. Is it really worth the hassle to feed this unethical rideshare industry? Find a better job. read more

This is by far the worst pepboys I ever been in my life. I took my Mercedes there to do a tire balance, rotation and alignment. They took 2 hours and did nothing. When I came back, the service guy (a guy with no good will to help at all) informed me that i had to change 2 of my tires and only then I would be able to rotate them. I did and came back to them. Got there and after an hour they came to me and told me I have 2 bad tires (the exactly same ones that they said were in good condition before) and had to change it. Wait, this isn't the best part... They don't know what a rotation of tires means! You always supposed to change in a X way, they only did left and right. WORST PLACE EVER read more

Appalling customer service, do not bring your car here for service. I dropped off my car over three hours ago for an appointment for an oil change and basic services, I was early for my appointment as well. After I dropped off my car I waited three hours and received no phone call. Concerned, I tried to call for status and no one would answer the phone. I went to check on my car, found it in the exact same spot it had been left over three hours prior, and not a single service has been done. My car was left unattended in their parking lot with nothing having been worked on for hours. When I tried to get my key back to take the car home, they could not find it for a while. I would not bring my car here again, they do not have good customer service, they are not worth your time. read more

I am very disappointed with my experience. My wife took her car in for servicing and for the same parts they charge $250 at pep boys.com for they charged almost $700 plus $500 in labor. Whenever I asked for a explanation they said there are two different prices one for over the counter the other for if they install it. It seems to me that they just took advantage of her because she is a woman. It's sad to see in this day and age a woman is still ripped off at the mechanics. I dropped off my car for the brakes to be changed and I added an oil change, I dropped off my car wed night I knew I would have to leave it in the parking lot which was not the problem, the problem was when I called Thursday afternoon I was told that my car is ready. So I got no call letting me know my car was ready. But here's the kicker... When I asked what was done to the car I was told an oil change and tire rotation... I asked what about the brakes being replaced, I was told they forgot. So your telling me that you did not hear the chirp when you pulled it in to the garage. This is so dangerous so now I have to take my car some where else with the brakes already needing service... I will never come here again nor will I ever recommend them to anyone else. read more

I've heard pep boys commercials and hey I thought let's go somewhere new since pep boys "does everything for less" and being on a budget I thought it wouldn't hurt to try them out. Wrong! I did my research and saw it would be better to schedule an appointment for an oil change which they had a coupon for. I schedule my oil change for 11:00am I get there on time and wait in line for 20 minutes! 20 minutes to let them know I'm here for my appointment. Finally it's my turn to approach the counter and they tell me they can't do my oil change. Why? Because they already took so many people before me while I waited in line. I asked the man "so what's the point of scheduling an appointment then?" And he said that they already have people ahead of me. Well thanks! On Sunday, my Prius battery died and I had to get AAA to give me a jump. That evening, I purchased a battery online from Pep Boys and scheduled a service appointment at Pep Boys for 8am Monday morning to get it installed. Price was the lowest I saw anywhere (even Amazon) because Pep Boys was having a sale for 25% off. Installation was free. On Monday morning at 7:45am, I was about to head out to Pep Boys but my car battery died again before I even left the driveway. Had to call AAA for a jump and was not able to get to Pep Boys until 9am (hour after appt). Pep Boy service rep was really accommodating and I explained to him the dilemma and I had a 11am meeting in Riverside 1.5 hrs away. They took me right away and installed my battery and the whole process took about 30-40 minutes. Really thankful and very happy with the price and the service. read more

Do not get your battery changed here and always always alway look on Jet.com or Amazon before you buy any part here. Ok so it all started with needing my car battery changed and then went off a cliff from there. Ok so I called pep boys to make an appointment to get my battery switched out. Made appointment for 10:30 am and was assured I'd get right in no waits, it was slow, I'm good. So I arrived at 10:26 and was told I'd have to wait as they just took someone in for a smog check. "I asked what about my appointment?" They both looked at me and said what about it? Now I'm waiting here at Pep Boys for over an hour as they stated it will take 45 minutes to replace a battery. It takes 10 minutes FYI as I've changed at least 30 car batteries in my short lifetime. As I waited I remembered I needed a battery for my scooter (Zuma 125) great for ride around the beach cities with. I asked them to look up my scooter as I wanted to buy a battery. They guy was clueless, seriously was clueless staring at the result for 10 minutes before I pointed out my scooter in the book, "like it's right there bro." The cost of the scooter battery $59 Pep boys $25 Jet.com $25 Amazon And NO THEY WON'T PRICE MATCH Battery replacement was $219 out the door. I'd recommend going somewhere else more welcoming, a little less hostile and a lot more friendly too customers. read more

"Free tire rotation" is a lie. To start, PepBoys is on the expensive side for basic service items. But I chose to book an appointment with them because they offer a "free tire rotation" with a synthetic oil change., and it was convenient to book an appointment online. Great! Is what I thought. Dropping off my truck I ask if the technician will document which tires they rotate where...you know, so next time I will know which ones to rotate again. The gentleman, who was very nice, informed me that they actually don't rotate the tires automatically for you, even when you sign up for the service. They measure the tires themselves, and whomever is doing the measurement then decides whether your tires "need" to be rotated or not. A little misleading, I think....so I ask him to specifically write down on the work order to rotate my tires, no matter what the measurement tool says. I WANT MY TIRES ROTATED. The tire rotation service is the only reason I agreed to this over priced oil change in the first place. Come back 2 hours later to pick up the truck. As I am paying, I ask the gentleman to please confirm that the tires were, in fact, rotated. He goes back in the garage, comes back with "no sir. the mechanic measured your tires and they don't need to be rotated". I am beyond frustrated. The people working there were very nice and professional, but it seems that the practice of purposely not rotating the tires is their actual policy. Without the rotation, it's just an expensive oil change that takes 2 hours. You can get an expensive oil change for the same price at Valvoline, but at least they will only take 20 minutes and not BS you about extra services they don't deliver on. read more

I made an appointment for 10 AM today to have two tires installed. Arrived at 9.55 AM, checked in. At 11 am my car was still sitting in the parking lot. I asked what was happening and was told that I was next after a "blue car" was done. Blue car comes off and goes right back on the rack as they missed something. At 11.20 I had had enough - picked up my tires and went to Firestone who installed them in a hurry. What's the point of an appointment if they don't take the car in at least within 15 minutes?? The wait time and customer service here is horrific. Even with having a set appointment time and a repair that's covered under warranty, my car was not touched/looked at until 2hrs after my 9a appt time. That was just the initial assessment before they gave me a service quote and began working on it. I was eventually quoted an actual service/work time of 2hrs to repair a front axle. They started at 1p and finished at 5p. Don't ever come here. If this repair shop is one of the shops near you listed under your warranty, go to the NEXT closest shop near you listed under your warranty instead. You'll save yourself time and an entire day's worth of frustration. I'm giving 2 stars because the actual mechanic did the job tasked, even if it did take twice as long as quoted and my car was at the shop for 8hrs for a 2hr service. read more

From the second I walked I felt I was treated like a second class citizen because I was there for a part for a FAIR rental car, and I didn't have an appointment. All I needed was a wiper blade, a two minute job, but I waited almost 45 minutes before I decided to leave. I then had to wait again for them to return my keys with no words of apology at all for my wait. Service Dept Customer Service SUCKS! You know the service department DESPERATELY needs basic customer training when I, the customer, have to tell the manager how to resolve their mistake for making me wait an hour from my confirmed battery install appointment, then to let me know the battery I ordered, which his store confirmed and set aside, is suddenly out of stock. Here's my story-- Purchased a Bosch Premium Performance Battery online at 8:35a PT on 08/05/17 and scheduled a 1p PT appointment on same day. To follow-up on Pep Boys auto-email confirmation, I called and confirmed with actual store. Arrived at 12:56p for 1p install, only to be told by Julio, that service is running late, and suggested we come back in hour. We come back at 2p PT, only to be told by Julio that battery was not in stock, he was sorry, and we could order it for delivery in the future. Asked for his Service Manager, Abraham, who couldn't explain what happened. With my persistence, and recommendation, he finally sends someone to pick up battery at Lawndale store. Two hours later, 3:15p PT, we got the battery installed. To PEP BOYS CORPORATE -- send your whole SERVICE DEPARTMENT to Customer Service 101 training, as they put the DIS in DISSERVICE! They are clueless on how to handle on-site customer complaints, and make the customer feel unappreciated. read more

The last time I got my tires replaced at this location, they curbed my wheels. This time around I had a tire that needed to be patched. I purchased a full set of tires from this location two months ago. They proceeded to call me after pulling the screw out of the tire that it could not be patched because the tread ware. Tread ware is visible without doing that. So at the end of all this I was forced to buy a new tire without really having to. I was also recommended a full set of brand new tires as well as an alignment. Scum. I have the receipt for my last set of tires and again it was no more than two months ago. The manager here was amazing!! When I arrived, I was sad to hear they only had 3 out of the 4 tires I was getting replaced. I talked with the manager to see if there was anyway I could replace some or order one sooner due to my tires' poor condition, and he immediately ordered the tire and replaced the first three. I came back the next morning for the 4th one after it was ordered and they changed it really fast, making the process super easy and convenient! I came to this store after my car broke down and I was looking for help. I googled what might be wrong and came to the idea that my crankshaft position sensor had gone out. I wasn't sure, so I thought I would get the local auto stores advice first. The worker at the parts desk told me that was not the problem, so I did not spend the 100+ on the part and instead opted to have them take a look at the car. I left my car there for 4 hours after the customer service staff seemed too busy to talk to me, but I had no other option as the car kept stalling. I never received an update from them, so I called them 4 hrs later and they said that the car did not have the check engine light on so it was fine and they could not help me. I paid for them to do the diagnostic and tell me that nothing was wrong. I then ubered back to the store and drove the care home where it died at multiple intersections. The next day I had my friend run an electrical scan on the car and the first thing that came up was that the cars crankshaft position sensor went out(the part I originally went to Pep boys to purchase). I went to the cars dealer and purchased the part for 84 dollars(cheaper than Pep boys). I installed it myself from a YouTube video and the car has had no problems since. I went to Pep Boys to purchase a product, they then talked me out of that part and were too busy to fix my car. I will never be going to a Pep Boys again because of the poor customer service and lack of knowledge. read more

Worst parking lot ever since they let left cars park there. Lyft employees at this pep boys are veth loud and noise. They think they can park anywhere and have over taken tell you where you can and can not park. Pep boys manger and staff are great sadly lyft is making customers upset and heard them say never cominh back. We have Also leaving going to other local store.
