The place was buzzing, lots people (presumably workers in midtown) the place seems like it had lots of energy. The food was good but not memorable. We had waffles pancakes and a burger. The dinner menu is very limited and the special of the day was a Talapia!! Really? Talapia is a special??? We had burgers and at gnocchi to which I need also added some shrimp. The gnocchi was dry and way too much parma cheese was added to it on top. Overall, a decent place with great location for some after work appetizers, but not really if you want a good meal read more

I absolutely loved this gem of a restaurant across from grand central. I ordered a pot of matcha tea, and it was so hot and refreshing. I drank every drop from my pot. I lived in NYC for 7 years and used to go in/out of Grand Central all the time. I have never been to this place until now. The mixed reviews made me a little nervous, but, I was staying at the horrible Hyatt hotel across the street, so, how worse it could be? Ordered the pancakes with a side of bacon. Coffee and OJ as well since it was mentioned it was freshly squeezed. OJ was definitely freshly squeezed! Pancakes were dynamite! Bacon was cooked to perfection! I would definitely go back to this place. The day I went, it was raining, but, I am sure on a nicer day you could enjoy a nice breakfast outside. The food is actually closer to 5 stars, but the service is pretty rough and the prices are super high. When our party originally sat down, we were provided menus and then ordered rather quickly. One of our party was running a couple minutes behind us but we ordered for her. The server said to wait for her to arrive unless she was about to walk in because the food comes out quickly. He was not wrong! Our food came out in a couple minutes and was quite tasty. Up to this point, it was a 5 star experience. Then, one of our party wanted to order something else and that is when things took a turn for the worse. It took probably 15 minutes for us to find our server again, then we asked for a menu and refills on our coffees. The menu never came and we got tired of waiting so went to the front to ask for a menu. Once our colleague decided on what she wanted to order, the waiting began again. We asked multiple servers where our server was and all said they would find him. At least another 15 minutes passed (without coffee refills) and we finally saw him at the other end of the restaurant so I went and asked him if he could come take the order. After putting this order in, we were hoping for the super fast delivery again but were disappointed by the enormous wait for her omelet. I was so happy for the first 10 minutes or so, but it seems you only get good service if you order one time and do not wish to have anything refilled. I'd probably ask for your check as you are putting in your order as well if you want the experience to take less than an hour for a quick breakfast. read more

The shrimp appetizers was incredible. Their greek salad was perfectly balanced. The service was ok, it took about 15 minutes and 2 waiters to get toast since they no longer serve rolls. The cappuccino was delicious. However, mine looked like a odd looking tree and my aunts had a design that resembled a clove of garlic. The lighting was a little dark. Some tables had their little lamps lit others did not. They never came around to refill our waters. Lastly gave us heavy dinner forks instead of salad forks. read more

Just what I was in the mood for - something healthy and I couldn't (or wouldn't care to) make at home. Lentils and quinoa topped with 2 poached eggs - cooked perfectly. My husband had an omelette that he said was great as well. Classic old style restaurant with a nice ambience. Wooden chairs and tables. There appears to be outside seating however it's raining today. The servers are all quite busy running around but we were adequately tended to. I would've loved a fresh orange juice, but refused to pay $10 for a glass. Other than that I loved it. read more

Some friends from out of town came to visit, and we chose this place to meet for dinner as a central location. I was turned away at the door for being male and wearing a tank top. My friends had arrived early, and were already seated with drinks. The hostess was wearing a strapless dress with thinner straps than my tank top. And it was over 90º outside. My outfit was in absolutely no way sloppy--I had literally checked their website to see if there was a dress code, and chose this tank that had a neat graphic on it, well-fitting shorts, and appropriate shoes. The hostess suggested I ask if my friends had any "coverups" for me, like someone's random bolero jacket is going to make everyone's dining experience in the joint much better by obscuring my super-offensive shoulders in spite of nearly every female both working and eating here having bare shoulders. Unfortunately none of my friends wear coats or jackets when it's over 90º. When our party pointed these things out she told us there's only one rule posted on the host's podium: "no men in tank tops." Maybe that should be listed on your site, rather than as a post-it that's only visible to your staff. Can't comment on the food; we decided to go absolutely anywhere else. read more

Went here for dinner tonight and the service was beyond slow. I ordered a strawberry margarita and they brought me a mango. Took 27 minutes for them to correct my order. Ended up leaving as a rat the size of a squirrel was running throughout the restaurant dining area and they acting like it was normal and we should accept it. I definitely won't be returning. It's a shame as I previously gave them 4 star (because of waiter but the food was a 3 star). Today's experience let me know they truly do not value customer service or experience. A traditional diner with a unique twist, it's across the street from Grand Central Terminal and located under the roadway leading to the terminal. It's just such a unique place to eat that it is worth a visit. The food itself is your typical diner fare. I recommend breakfast and traditional items like bacon, egg, sausage, toast, breakfast meats. For lunch or looking at burgers hot sandwiches fries. All is nothing you can't get in 1 million other places in the city. There's very few places that can quite match the vibe. The service is always solid. The place is usually busy, so don't expect a lot of handholding. However, we've always had good service and service at check-in regularly. If you find yourself in Midtown in the morning and are looking for a place to stop in and grab a quick bite, I think this place will be memorable for most visitors . read more

Came for a late lunch on a Tuesday Afternoon at approximately 2PM. (Three of us). Seated right away, fast water, drinks and ordering. Two of us got the gnocci and one got a side of fries and a salad. So far, so good. Then only one of the gnoccis came. The "French Fries" were NOT French Fries. The were luke warm cubes of potatoes, seemed old, and were awful. We flagged down a different waitperson since ours never once came to check on us. When our original waiterperson realized the second gnocci was not ready he bought an additional plate and suggested the two gnocci orderers SHARE until the 2nd gnocci was ready. This is astonishingly inappropriate and completely unacceptable. Saw our original waitperson maybe once more for a water refill and then the unrequested check was left on the table by the original waitperson without a word. Nothing was taken off of the bill for awful service and crappy "fries". Pershing Square is usually my default when visitors are arriving or leaving Grand Central and I know you can do better. Typically visit when looking for an easy to get to breakfast place for meetings. Food and service have both always been very good. Can get a little crowded but I have never personally had an issue with noise...can always enjoy conversations with others at the table. Can't beat the location for convenience if people are traveling through grand central of subways. read more

I stopped in while staying at the Hyatt Grand Central across the street. I was exhausted after a long afternoon, and this was a good respite. It was quiet during my visit because it was on off hours between lunch and dinner. The restaurant is much larger than expected and provides an old school NYC feel. They have a large full bar and many offerings. Server was attentive and very quick. I had the Waldorf salad which was a special offering this day. I honestly wasn't sure exactly how it would come out, but I was pleasantly surprised. It had an ample portion of traditional mayo based Waldorf salad toped with crisps and romaine. I found it to be really yummy and loved the crunch from the nuts and sweetness from the grapes. I've heard they do a good breakfast, so I think it's worth a try if you're in midtown and looking for something without too many frills. read more

This place is huge! I'd always walked by, but never walked in until today to explore, and I was shocked at how misleading the exterior is in terms of size. There's a back section, where you must order food to be able to sit there, and a front section, where it's a free-for-all. I sat up front and got the orange pekoe tea. The waiter had a serious attitude about me only getting tea, even though the hostess told me it'd be perfectly fine. Anyway, the tea didn't have much of an orange taste, but it came in a cute little teapot and had a British feel, much like the entire place. It feels like an upscale diner/cafe - perfectly suitable place for both business meetings and family meals while meandering through midtown. I'll be back one day to try their brunch offerings. This is the closest restaurant to grand central station upon entering we were greeted and Gaven a table quickly, despite it being thanks giving. Me and my daughter were tiered and just looking for some good food, a server came to us and got us our drinks and everything was going well, my daughter asked for a sprite and they gave her a tiny sprite, it was definitely overpriced and ridiculous. Nonetheless we continued and since it was Brunch time, I ordered a steak and eggs and she ordered a burger, as she was eating we found a hair inside her burger, cooked in the meat we were completely disgusted, and we will not be returning despite being long term clients, they gave us the burger for free and 2/3 drinks for free, but overall it was a terrible experience, i would expect better from a restaurant that looks so fancy, and hold themselves to a high standard. read more

My party of three went for dinner, maybe this does better as a breakfast, brunch, or lunch place. While the atmosphere was nice, the food was just fine. Of the Buzz burger, veggie burger and gnocchi my party ordered, only the gnocchi was maybe a bit better than just good. The service was okay, a bit slow for the fact the restaurant was maybe just a quarter full. Of the three desserts we ordered, brownie sundae, the tiramisu, and a tiny cookie plate, the only one really good was the cookie plate. The brownie was blah and the dulce de leche was very sparse and thin. The tiramisu while light lacked any sweetness and had bitter notes. It was a quiet place when we went on a Saturday night so it was good for enjoying the company at the table and as I said the food was good. But there are so many other places to eat NYC that we could've just gone around the corner and enjoyed better food. read more

Hmm... The food was good. Definitely not a voluminous menu. Portion size reasonable (small by American standards, but actually probably more like healthy portions should be.) I had the Cobb Salad, a side order or fries and some cheese cake... plus Diet Coke (came in a small glass bottle) and Club Soda (came in a very small bottle) got hit for $60.00. Plenty of other places in NYC, but this one has the convenience of being located right in front of Grand Central. Atmosphere is nice. Seating quick. Waiters were good. Well managed. Probably more appropriate for a tourist coming in on the train than a regular hangout...
