Everything I've had from here has been absolutely fantastic. PRO TIP! You can ask for your drinks to be less sweet and with less ice! The cafe itself is a little small, but cute and inviting. You can set up shop and get some studying/work done, no problem. Was in the area on a Saturday morning around 9:30am, found this place on Yelp, and so glad we did! The interior is very warm and cozy with a decent amount of tables for 2 and one communal table in the middle. Some people were working, some were chatting away, while others were picking up orders to go. We opted for the Phin coffee, which is only dine-in. They came on a cute little tray with a side of toasted baguette slices topped with a little bit of sugar. The coffee itself was delicious. We both opted for light sweetness, and it was more than enough. Both the ube and pandan cream had nice subtle flavor on their own, but mixed in the coffee the flavors got lost. It was nice to dip the toast in though! The sticky rice was also delicious with so many complimentary flavors and textures! Decided to go to the newer location of Phin Cafe located in blossom hill. The place here is super tiny that I felt a bit claustrophobic but service is decently fast that you can get your drinks quick! My friends both got the famous egg coffee and loved it! Egg coffee -Regular sweet -Less ice -review: the sweetness seems to mainly be coming from the egg cream. This is defined a good drink to start off with for people who aren't too adventurous. The coffee isn't too strong or too sweet. Once mixed the balance from the sweet cream to the coffee is perfect. The cream might be too thick for some without mixing it into the coffee a bit. Durian coffee -regular sweet -less ice -review: I love durian so for those who don't this is definitely not for you. The durian cream is nice and sweet and has distinct durian flavor. The coffee is the same as that of the egg coffee. I prefer to mix it slightly so that the thick cream can loosen a bit in order for me to drink the coffee, but I don't mix it all the way because I like to taste both one after another. Not mixing it completely also allows you to tát the durian better since the coffee hides it away a bit if you mix it completely. Always excited to try different coffee shops, including phin cafes. Arrived at Phin Cafe at around 11am on Sunday, and it was pretty busy. Most of the tables were taken, but we were able to find a couple of open seats at a communal table. We couldn't decide between the egg coffee, pandan coffee, or coconut coffee. Since San Jose is a bit out of the way for us, we decided to order all 3. We also ordered the popcorn chicken and a combination sandwich. They cut the sandwich in half and packaged them separately when they learned we were sharing. Because it was so busy, it took a while (maybe 10-15 minutes) for our order to be ready. Everything was packaged nicely. Other than the flavor, the cream topping to both the egg coffee and pandan coffee were similar in thickness and creaminess. Pandan flavor came through. The egg coffee was rich and creamy. We ordered all the drinks as less sweet and light ice - they were sweet enough. Hubs fave was the coconut coffee. If you want egg coffee this is the place to go! This cafe offers lots of varieties of Vietnamese coffee including the beloved egg coffee. I've been here on two separate occasions and have ordered the egg coffee and the ube coffee. When you first walk in you order from a kiosk located at the front. The staff were willing to help me decide which drink I wanted by asking me what flavors I enjoyed. The cafe itself is quite small so I recommend ordering to go unless you're ordering food as well. The egg foam taste like if custard and crème brûlée had a baby. The coffee itself was very strong and creamy, a little bit on the sweet side so if you're not a fan of sweetness I'd recommend adjusting the sweetness. The egg foam is not too sweet, but just keep in mind if you don't like sweet drinks. The ube coffee is thicker and quite creamy. The ube is a subtle flavor and doesn't take away from the vietnamese coffee's flavor profile, but at the same time it doesn't get masked by it. What an adorable place to come grab some Vietnamese coffee! Modern interior with warm tones throughout + good amount of space to sit, study (or get some work done). I didn't check if there was Wi-fi available here as my cell service was enough for our short visit. I ordered an "egg" coffee ($6.90 rounded up to $7). I was thinking to add some lychee to this for fun since whenever I get Boba drinks, I usually sub Boba balls for Lychee. Big mistake. What was I thinking when I had the ingenious idea to make a coffee turn into a Milk Tea drink? Lesson learned for me. Add another $0.50 for the Lychee. While the egg coffee itself was good, I drank it so fast and it was gone in under 10 minutes. Super small drink when you add in the ice. With the added Lychee, it made it too sweet. That was my mistake however-- not on them. Tram (fellow yelper) said it right. About 10 sips and it was done. That's the only reason I'm taking off one star. Because when you are paying $9 (with tip) for a super small coffee, you want it to be worth the money. A friend recommended this cute cafe for their Vietnamese coffee and boba drinks. Happy to find another great boba spot on the south side! It has a chill ambiance for studying or for a cute boba/coffee date. The service was fantastic! They happily answered all my first timer questions and also gave me recommendations. I ordered the Gun N' Rose milk tea with almond milk. They allow you to adjust your sweetness and in my opinion their sweetness levels are just right. My 20% was perfectly sweetened. I thought it was very thoughtful that the barista double checked if I was okay with the sweetness level and even assured me they could remake it if needed. So nice! Nothing to rave about. I tried the pandan special coffee ($7) and thought it was just ok. Even though I got regular 100% sweetness, I found it not sweet enough for me. Coffee was pretty strong. I'm not an avid coffee drinker. I wished the pandan foam was more prominent. It was very light in pandan flavor. My friend said her ube coffee tasted like taro more than ube. Service was mid. Saw this place on instagram and dragged my mom with me. She grew up in Vietnam and pours a mean Viet coffee. There's a self-serve kiosk and the front counter. She was quick taking my order. We got there right before they got busy. I definitely looked at the google maps busy times. Our coffee took awhile to come out, maybe 5 -10 minutes. Some people ordered ahead and were still waiting as well. I was trying to talk my mom into the egg coffee so I could try it, because I had my eye on the pandan coffee. She wound up with the coconut coffee. The pandan coffee came with an eggroll biscuit as the straw. Bit impractical, I just ate it first and stuck the straw in. I guess you could also munch it up and let it dissolve in the coffee, meh. It was pretty good, but didn't have much of a pandan taste. Think I'll try the egg coffee next time! I've been noticing more and more Vietnamese coffee shops around the Bay Area popping up recently! Phin Cafe being one of the better ones. Been coming here for a few months now, and I have to say I've loved everything I've tried! My go-to has been the Salted Coffee, the strong Vietnamese filter goes so well with the slightly salty cream foam. My other favorites have been the Ube Coffee, Pandan Coffee, and even the Banana Matcha is so wonderfully unique! I like how even when the ice melts in their drinks, they don't taste too watered down, due to the strong-ness of the coffee itself. Their food is also not bad, the Popcorn Chicken and Salted Egg Fries have both been really yummy and consistent. The area is a little sketch but parking is always easy to find.
