Best pho in South Bay ! Delicious food and staffs are so nice ! Highly recommend:)

We were seated right away on a recent Monday night. I ordered the pho with meatballs, tripe, and flank. While the broth was served nice and hot, it lacked flavor. The flank, unfortunately, had an excessive amount of fat. So much that I ended up setting aside a whole pile, with very little actual meat to eat. My husband went with the pho ap chao, but both the chicken and beef were chewy and tough. The quality of the ingredients is terrible here, and it made for a disappointing dinner. I'm surprised by all the high reviews. I'd recommend sticking with Saigon Dish in Lawndale instead.

Food is always consistent! If you want pho on a weekend lunch and you want to come out fast, you come here. It's reliable and local so it's my go to pho place near me. You do not com here for service. It's Asians, food is consistent, service is good considering, but bare minimum usually but for the price and quality I think it's very fair and safe. Normally people don't expect amazing service in local mom and pop restaurants for under $20 a meal in California. If service is great, that's great, but I don't expect Michelin service here. Ambiance, again just good. It's clean, it's fast, food is always hot when it comes out. Overall, this location and this price, with this food quality I think it's 5 stars.

Easily my favorite Vietnamese chain, serving up huge portions for a very reasonable price! The staff was very eager to get our order in and came over 5 times before we asked for space, and after that we had a hard time flagging them down. The menu is super expansive and we had a hard time deciding, but everything is very authentic and delicious.

By far one of the best pho places in town! Came in on a Sunday evening with little to no wait, immediately seated. The waiters were very attentive with refilling our waters and our food arrived in a short amount of time. The meat in the pho was high quality and very flavorful. Ordered 3 items: 2 pho and 1 vermicelli in my party of 3 which was around $60 in total. This spot is located in the corner a plaza which may be difficult to find, but it is certainly worth visiting.

Oh my god. Hail Mary. This is my go-to spot for Pho. Honestly I would get married here on a rainy day. This place is PHENOMENAL. give them the miss universe crown. I get their egg rolls, Thai tea, and pho with only brisket and steak. The egg rolls, fried with love and are so addictive. I have had egg rolls from other pho places but they just can't make it like here! I'm salivating just thinking about them. They're cute-sized and come in 5 pieces with a side of romaine lettuce and pickled carrots i believe. idk but the carrots are sweet. The pho has such a flavorful broth. It is the right amount of savory, salty, brothy goodness for ur tummy. Now I add a ton of chili sauce and hoison sauce because I'm crazy, and don't forget the extra jalapeños!!! Thai tea, I need an IV infusion of it. 10/10. Not too sweet, not overwhelming. It is the perfect balance for my spicy pho bowls. Service is faster than you can finish saying Sacagawea, and that's not even a long word. They immediately come up to you once you're seated, and I kid you not, the pho is already rolling out like 2 minutes later after telling them which one you would like. Parking is in the plaza, which can be very hectic and honestly gets quite full pretty fast. I love this spot, I am excited to come here with my mocos running on a rainy day this season!!

We've been here a few times and it's one of our favorite Vietnamese spots in the South Bay. This visit we got the grilled beef plate and the crispy fried seafood noodles - both were delicious. The pho is good here as well. One of the best things about this place is the value. The portions are generous, the service, and the prices are hard to beat. If you're in the Gardena area and looking for delicious Vietnamese food, this spot is well worth the visit. We'll definitely be back again.

Came in and ordered the #1 pho and egg rolls, and my wife got the chicken pho (not sure the number), and everything was sooo good. The pho had a rich, flavorful broth with tender meat and fresh herbs--super comforting and hit the spot. My wife loved her chicken pho too--light, clean, and really satisfying. The egg rolls were perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavor inside, especially dipped in the sauce. Service was friendly and the vibe was relaxed, making it a great spot to sit down and enjoy a warm meal. Definitely coming back for this combo again!

Whenever I'm in the South Bay I'm in awe of the variety of Asian flavors I have access to. Pho So 1 is my to go to for Vietnamese food. I love the rare steak pho but the vermicelli bowl is a must. Beef or pork you won't go wrong. Bomb!

This place has the best food, The service always on point, they greet us at the door right away, doesn't matter if it's one or ten of us they always accommodate us, when we order the food comes out no more then ten minutes, out pho is always piping hot.. we order shrimp spring rolls the egg rolls as appetizers and come out asap, we've been coming here for over a decade, any time we're craving some hot soup this is the place.. they make sure we have everything we need even for our baby, they leave her a little bowl with plastic utensil without even asking.. Pho So 1 is our favorite pho spot! The pho is consistently good! It never fails! The spring rolls and egg rolls are delicious as well! April 4, 2025. Our first visit to this Pho So 1 location in Gardena. I've looked at it SO many times when in the area shopping at Japanese markets and never thought to stop here thinking I've got locations closer to home but noticed in Yelp postings that their menu was different and more extensive! We will definitely come back again to try their Cha Gio and other menu items, but at 9:30pm on a Friday night we were just there for dessert before heading home. It was 30 minutes before their closing time, and there were still a few tables with later night diners enjoying their meals. The place is very clean, open dining area with a room to the side if you have a larger party and want a section to yourselves. Nice! We were greeted and seated without any mention of when they were closing, which was cool. When we received the menus, we let our server know we were just stopping by to check out desserts and asked for her best recommendations. She provided 2, one of which I had already been eyeballing. Hubby ordered #109, SƯƠNG SA HẠT LỰU: Jelly & tropical coconut milk. A pink drink of sorts that was refreshing and flavorful! The jelly slices were a vibrant color and there were pieces of something in it, tasty but we aren't sure what they were. Maybe apple pieces soaked in something or an unfamiliar tropical fruit? It was good! I had the #112, CHE BA MAU: Special three-color dessert.not much else in the description but based on the pics, I wanted to give it a try! To my delight it had sweet red beans in it, possibly a mung bean based layer, coconut milk sauce and strips of green jelly slices flavored with pandan. Wow! This was delicious and I'd definitely order it again! For Americans who haven't had beans in their desserts, don't shy away. My husband was leery of it years ago until he learned. It's delicious! The entire dessert was refreshing - I can only imagine how much better it would be on a sunny afternoon! Why, oh why don't the Granada Hills, Van Nuys or my original Reseda locations have dessert items on their menus? I'll be going in with photos to show and ask them. I would love to have access to all of these additional options on a regular basis! And the owner/manager was a friendly guy, said he's the brother of the manager of Granada Hills? The pho combo was excellent--generous portions with a good variety of meats, all cooked perfectly. The broth really stood out: rich, flavorful, and comforting without being overly heavy. Definitely helps after a night out. Since it was morning, the staff greeted us immediately and sat us down. Typical fixings available on the table. And normal decor you see at most pho places. Recommend when you're in a pinch in the South Bay for pho. Helps that it's open at 8am! read more

Made it to this Pho joint on whim due to my original plan for Pho fell through. Great atmosphere inviting even tho we came in close to closing. Service was quick and efficient. Broth is clean, yet has a lot of depth and soul to its flavor profile. True food enthusiasts can tell that this place takes their craft seriously. It's the kind of pho that really doesn't need Hoisin Sauce or Sriracha, but of course those staples are available to use at each table. Don't sleep on the other items of the menu!! The pork bahn mi, Saigon Fries, egg rolls - everything is spectacular. Their Vietnamese coffee is slept on as well. That beverage, is so delicious and can wake anyone up from the dead. The restaurant itself is spacious and has a couple of TVs to the right of the front counter. I'm kind of bummed I typically have to work during their Happy Hour (15% off your order from 3-5PM). I do however, know that if you call ahead - you can still get HH pricing even if you do pickup vs. dining in. Lastly, I can see how service is a hit or miss to other visitors. To me, there's occasionally a slight language barrier. But I just order slowly and try to remain polite.

The only reason I am giving stars rather then none is because the food is okay but the service is horrible. I have been coming here for possibly five years now and every time I came, their service was bad. I only come here when I am desperate and have no place else to go because this place it closest to me. I had recently went with my mom on a cold day and we were both hungry so when we sat down, we ordered one medium sized and one small. Now, they don't have any medium sizes (only small and large) but the server didn't tell us that. So we're waiting for our food and when we got it, I was confused as to how my mom's bowl was as small as mine. I asked the server and she finally tells me that there isn't a size medium so I brush it off and ask her to give us a size large instead. She takes my mom's bowl back and I start to eat my food. 10-15 minutes pass and we still haven't gotten my mom's bowl. (Mind you that I am seeing everyone get there orders around me and I am beginning to get frustrated as to why I haven't received mine.) Since our server had sat down with her friends at a table, not even asking us about our soup, we call another man towards us and ask him and he says that he'll go check. Long story short, my mom does not get her bowl of soup and I end up giving her mine. We pay and tell our server about the soup and she simply brushes it off. We left disappointed with their service as we usually do. I'd say the food is good but the service is horrible. I'm going to start by saying this before I start in on this review. I'm of mixed culture being one half creole and the other half Samoan proudly. I really don't have issues with biased bigots and racial stereotypes. Now I've been to this place on several occasions the food generally good and besides these tiny flies pestering you this place is ok to say the least. But the service of one particular female waitress will leave a bad taste on your mental. I noticed the attitude straight away, a kind of hurry up I got nothing to do after this type shit. I noticed that anyone that looks of color she would do this to, a minor annoyance. And correct me if I'm wrong but it's custom service. I'm never an asshole to no one I respect people until they show me otherwise and tip if the service is good. I say this to say this, that this behavior should not be tolerated at all especially if you and the other party do not know each other. My girlfriend noticed it as well and a few other customers did too. Listen if you hate yourself or job maybe you should look elsewhere for something that best suits your odd cornball attitude. Just saying!! People come to spend money to eat not feel mentally harassed. Professionalism first! read more

Been going there for a while because of the soup stock is good and the noodles always have been mediocre. I was there 2 days in a roll and both time the noodle tasted horrible, texture was like mush. First time it happened I just thought it was an isolated incident (I left only after eating a few bites then I couldn't eat the rest), so I decided to go again and it was the same. I complained to 2 worker and they both played dumb and didn't offer any type of discount for serving such crappy food that I wouldn't serve to my worst enemy. I was very disappointed on how they just brushed it off like it was no big deal. For me, the customer I've wasted 2 trips and my hard earned money eating that crappy pho. The server didn't show any initiative in making it right so I am giving this place 1 star. Now, everytime when I get the urge to have pho, I just think about the nasty mushy noodles they put out in clumps and I tell myself to wait until I drive by OC for some REAL pho! I heard about this place from a friend who said that this place was an OK place for Vietnamese food. When I went down there to try it, when I left the place, I was thinking to myself, "My friend doesn't know how to eat Vietnamese food for sure." For starters, when I went inside expecting a nice table, I was greeted instead by a sign in sheet with a bunch of people's names on it. I had to wait awhile which made me a little hesitant to even try it out. Next, the pho that I ate was extremely nasty. The water literally tasted like water and I could see all the MSG running around in the bowl. When the server came with our pho also, I saw him scrambling around trying to deliver food, that he didn't notice that his finger was inside the bowl. The service here just SUCKS. Enough said. I found out a better place called Pho Ever. I dont know how anyone can give this place lower than 5 stars!! This is where my husband & I have dinner at least 1x a week if not twice! The food is mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...so delish, the soup is always perfect -I get #1, which has EVERYTHING! The tendon is done just right..love it. The hubs usually has fried chicken w/fried rice or one of the bun dishes -i've stolen a few bites and they were just as yummy. We always get an order of egg rolls..ITS A MUST! Thai iced tea for me and Vietnamese coffee for the hubs. Date nights at its best..at least for us. ;) This place never lets me down..always leave with a smile on my face and a tummy full of yums. They are always so friendly and know just what we like so they bring it right away... even sliced onions -it comes to the table without me having to ask, plus extra limes. Just ate lunch here today with a co-worker. Private parking lot very busy but got a spot close to the resteraunt. First walked in the place is big and it smelled very good. We got seated right away about a 30 second wait. The decor is a bit old but I don't care about that. They have a B in the window. Our server came up within two minutes and that was perfect because it took me a minute to find what I wanted. They brought out waters and the sodas in quickly. I ordered the noodles and beef and my co-worker ordered the beef stew Pho. We also ordered the egg rolls and they were delicious. The food was awesome!! The servings we big my co-worker could not finish his soup because it was to much. I will go back to this place it was great and the service was great. No problems. read more

this place is the worst restaurant ever..i went here yesterday sunday with my kids to eat pho. The service are horrible the waiter's hand was dirty while holding my pho and his thumb was dip in my soup.. it was disgusting. also they put a large amount of MSG in their pho. I could of kill me if i didnt have my medication at that. when i was on my way home i started to feel really dizzy and want to faith because there was too much MSG in my body... i had to stop at the a random street to take my medication and break there for 15 mins till i could drive home. I would never ever go here again. and for all the people who want to try pho dont go here it is the worst place to try and it will kill you! read more

I agree that this place has the best pho at the best price, but the last few times I have eaten there, I have ended up with diarrhea. I know for a fact it's the pho, as both my wife and I experienced that same reaction both times. Our recent visit, it turned my stomach when I can hear the cook sneezing repeatedly in the kitchen -- one loud sneeze after another-- I was glad I already had my food. I truly believe there is something really unsanitary happening there. I'm not willing to risk another visit. Also I remember seeing the guy with the hairy mole -- how about the guy serving the bowls of pho, always watching that thumb of his not dipping into my soup. read more

I've been coming to Pho So 1 for over 15 years, and after trying countless pho spots over the years, I can confidently say this place is hands down the best! The quality and consistency have never let me down. My absolute favorite is the Shrimp Pho Soup -- it's always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying every time. You can really taste the care that goes into each bowl. On top of that, the service is incredibly fast and professional. Just a tragic experience. I've hyped this place up for the last ten years as one of the better pho spots, which ends today. I ordered a pho with steak and brisket and received tendon, hard fat with no meat, two piece of steak. My partner order the spring rolls and the strips were translucent! Everything had a freeze after taste, the broth had too much clover and star anise, and the noodles were overcooked. The service is also horrible, when I asked for brisket I ordered, the server said it was my fault for ordering fatty meat, like what? There's no meat! What happened to this place... It use to be so clean and we would come here with the whole family (8 to 10 people). Today we were eating and a ROACH crawled on the table. Then again ANOTHER ROACH crawled from their napkins dispenser to between my wife and her food. My wife screamed and that was the end of dinner. When I looked down on the floor there were BABY ROACHES. If you have ROACHES coming out during dinner time, the kitchen must be infested with them. Great service, excellent food definitely coming back for more. The pho had lots of flavor and was packed with noodles and meat. The bowl wasn't empty. Everything came out super quickly and was hot. You know they directly brought you the food and there was no waiting around. This place is either a sit down and take your time place, or a quick in and out type of place. This is coming from a guy who didnt really like pho until a couple months ago. Stopped here for some quick lunch on my way to work and the service was great, fast, and attentive. The pho itself is portioned really well. You get a choice between small or large but the small sized bowl is plenty enough. Broth is light and full of flavor. The sandwich has legitimate bread, crusty roll with good flavor. The vegetables are very good and well proportioned. The meat in the combination sandwich was not the typical lunch meat. I couldn't really identify the meats. But it was clearly put in hot. It was a good sandwich.

I've been coming to Saigon Dish for close to three decades. That sentence makes me feel…read moreapproximately 900 years old. I don't even remember when I started coming here. I just remember working nearby when I was younger and Saigon Dish becoming part of the routine. I came constantly. Sometimes practically every day. This was before the larger setup they have now, when the whole operation felt smaller and you got to know the person behind it pretty quickly. That person is John. And before we get into pho, John deserves his paragraph. He is one of those increasingly rare restaurant owners who makes you genuinely happy to hand him your money. In the early days, before I became the longtime regular who mostly gives him shit, I remember him talking me through ingredients. Why he chose something. What I should order. What was good that day. There was an intentionality behind the food that told you somebody was paying attention. And that's the thing I respect most about this place, he never let it go. The restaurant grew. Life moved on. I stopped working nearby. I got older. I brought coworkers. Then friends. My parents. My sisters. Eventually my wife and kids. And the pho is still good. I should establish that I'm obnoxious about pho. I've eaten a lot of it, from tiny places where nobody particularly cares whether you know they exist to polished restaurants charging you for the privilege of sitting underneath an Edison bulb. There are spectacular bowls all over California. So I'm not going to tell you Saigon Dish serves the single greatest pho ever created by mankind. It doesn't need that kind of BS. What it does incredibly well is balance. The broth is clean. That's the word I always come back to. Clean. Deep enough that you know something happened before it reached your bowl, but it doesn't club you over the head with star anise and herbs. And it isn't the sad, watery approximation of pho you sometimes encounter when you wander too far west and somebody has decided broth should taste like hot water that once met a cow. This tastes like pho. The filet mignon is consistently tender and smooth. The tripe is properly cleaned. The tendon is cooked beautifully, soft and gelatinous without disintegrating, which is where tendon should live. The meatballs are surprisingly good. The well done beef can occasionally lean a little dry for my taste, but that's what the bowl of broth and a little sriracha are for. I've also eaten my way through so much of the menu that reconstructing it would require archaeological work. Egg rolls? Get them. Rice dishes? Yep. Noodles? Yep. Vietnamese coffee? Obviously. Coconut drinks? Go for it. I've brought an absurd number of people here over the years and the remarkable thing is how universally the place works. Pho nerds can find something to obsess over, but you can also bring somebody who barely knows Vietnamese food and they'll be completely comfortable. And then there's the operation itself. This isn't some immaculate Beverly Hills dining room designed by a hospitality group. Thank God. It looks like a South Bay Vietnamese restaurant. Every available corner seems to have acquired a purpose. People are moving everywhere. Tables are turning. Someone needs extra onions. Someone wants another bowl. Someone's asking for sriracha. Somebody's kid needs chopsticks. Water appears before you realize you need it. And somehow it flows. That's harder than it looks. Service here has always felt unusually effortless to me. Not performative. Nobody is giving you a TED Talk about the provenance of the bean sprouts. They just take care of you. Parking occasionally becomes its own little hunger game. Don't panic. Circle around, wait a few minutes, somebody will finish their pho and leave. I've written a lot of reviews and I don't throw five stars around because then five stars stop meaning anything. But how exactly do you rate a restaurant you've voluntarily returned to for close to thirty years? At some point consistency becomes the review. I've watched Saigon Dish grow from the little place I remember into what it is today. I've sent coworkers here. Friends. My parents. My sisters. My own family. I've probably eaten enough of John's pho at this point that some measurable percentage of my body belongs to the restaurant. And I'm still coming back.
