After trying the West Hills location, I prefer that spot over this one. They are not as stingy with their portions and have the hot sauce that is best. Van Nuys only has siracha which is strange as they used to have the good hot sauce. I ordered #1 as usual and then the vermicelli with shrimp and beef to go. When I opened it, it was the saddest looking meal. The shrimp are tiny and exactly only 4 and literally only 3 slices of beef. Although it tasted decent, the portion of protein was disappointing. When ordering pho to go, this restaurant gives you broth that has been sitting in plastic containers all day, rather than ladling fresh hot broth directly from the pot. I specifically asked for fresh broth at pickup, but was still given cold broth that had clearly been pre-packed in plastic. When I called to complain, the employee admitted they put the hot broth into plastic containers to "let it cool" which is not only misleading but also unsafe. Hot liquid in plastic can release harmful chemicals, and it defeats the purpose of ordering fresh food. read more

This restaurant is absolutely shameless. My husband and I eat at this place every week and always order the #74 meatball + beef. We always buy 4 portions each time. On August 30th, he drove an hour, like usual, from Santa Clarita to get the food. But when we got home and opened it, we found it was pork. I immediately called the restaurant (because I don't eat pork, and the meatballs are always for my husband). The person who claimed to be the manager was extremely shameless and kept shirking responsibility. First, he said we had ordered pork, then he said we could drive back to exchange it. I told him we live very far away, but he insisted it was my husband's mistake and tried to weasel out of it. His attitude was utterly shameless and disgusting. I started to get angry, but he kept talking nonsense, even saying, "I'm the manager here, what can you do about it?" At that point I got so mad that I dropped the F-word and hung up. Shockingly, he called back 4 times to tell me I shouldn't talk like that. The entire time, he never once apologized or admitted fault. This restaurant is beyond saving--so disgusting. The exterior was crispy and not soggy or greasy. Loved that it came with a side of lettuce, radish, carrots and mint! The small bowl of pho broth was just what I needed after a long drive. This place was hopping on a busy Sunday afternoon. Located next to a 99 Ranch Market, the restaurant benefits from the constant foot traffic at this shopping center. We weren't even planning to have pho for lunch, but after checking out the deli section of the supermarket, we decided that having a steamy hot bowl of noodles would be more satisfying than the ready to serve options at the 99 Ranch. And talk about a bowl! It is metallic and more like a wash basin than a traditional bowl. The wide girth not only looked impressive, but it also allowed fast cooling of the hot broth because of the greater surface area. I didn't have to wait ten minutes before burying my face in the pho. The broth was tasty, but it's a bit on the salty side and I've had better. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, especially because the indoor dining area offered refuge from the stormy weather outside. Came here on a Sunday around 1 pm because we were at 99 ranch market and spirit Halloween. There was a small line but it seemed to be moving quickly. Make sure to put your name and party size on the notepad hanging on the wall when you walk in. There were about 5 parties ahead of us but we didn't end up having to wait long, maybe 10-15 minutes. I ordered the fried egg rolls (#97 ~$10) and the rare steak pho (#19 ~$13). My boyfriend ordered a pho and an avocado smoothie. The smoothie was delicious, you could really taste the avocado in it! It was also subtly sweet. The fried egg rolls were absolutely delicious! Super crispy on the outside but slightly chewy deeper in, I think it was fried in rice paper. The meat was juicy and there were some wood ear mushrooms too. It was great dipped in the provided sauce and eaten with the lettuce, cucumber, carrots, and radish (which I also dipped in the sauce because I prefer the carrots and radish to be slightly pickled and not raw). Would definitely get this again. The pho was delicious, the soup was savory and flavorful. They give you the classic veggies on the side. However, the size of the bowl was a bit smaller than what I expected and that meant not as much broth, which is my favorite part! You can get another bowl of broth for $3. Sure the reviews are great but personally, I'm not the biggest fan of pho simply because it's always been a bit bland and mild in flavor to me. I placed a phone order for "asap" pick up and arrived maybe 15 minutes later to my lunch packed and ready to go. The woman working the cash register was friendly, attentive, and moved quick to get orders going. I ordered the #15 pho along with the #51 Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong ( Heo Hoac Bo ) which are fried spring rolls. They looked good online and something I had never had before so I had to get them. Total for the two came to about $27. The pho was delicious! The broth was so rich, vibrant, and full of herbs and spices. The noodles were soft, the meats were tender and juicy, while all the provided fresh herbs and veggies were, well, fresh! They offered a great crunch and taste. The spring rolls were also delicious - fried perfectly for a great brown crunch and crispiness while the meat inside was juicy. I feel the plate as a whole was a bit of a waste because the rolls were sitting on a huge pile of noodles with veggies hidden underneath.
