Nothing much else needs to be said here except that if you like pho, you'll like Pho Sydney's offering of it. I also sampled their summer rolls and fried spring rolls. Not the best I've had, but tasty and good for a pre-meal snack. The lady had an avocado smoothie. We were happy they offered them, and it came with boba, which she hates. I don't though, so I took care of that problem for her. I assumed that I would want an afternoon snack after my brunch, so I ordered one of their bbq pork and another of their regular banh mi to go. The bread is different than the kind widely found in Philly - a little bit more like an Amoroso roll, that is doughier and less flakey. One of the best Vietnamese places I've been to. Food was spectacular. They have better choices than some other ones i have been to also. I got the grilled pork chop with spring rolls combo. Both were delicious. Best spring rolls I've had. The grilled pork chop was so tasty. And they give you just the right amount of food. My friends and i also shared a pho. And it was great. Best I've had. They would get 5 stars but the service was horrible. You get in and you actually have to seat yourself. There was a mob by the door of people waiting to be seated. We actually had to tell a family to find their own seat because their child was so hungry Already! We felt so bad. They do not pay any mind to you when you go in. They wont even tell you to sit if there was a free table. Oh my. So if ever you decide to come here, please keep in mind that you do have to seat yourself. We thought this place was ok. Typical pho place that lacks customer service. They did not refill the utensils so I had to grab a spoon from another table and ask for more from the waiter. My husband and I had the pho and we thought it smelled funny but after a four hour drive it was still edible. The squid was good, spring rolls lacked flavor and no peanut sauce! My daughter liked the grilled chicken. I had to ask for my kids Thai ice tea which we got after all the food came out. I ordered #10, the pho with rare steak. The "rare" steak arrived already cooked by the time this heaping bowl of pho was put in front of me. They had the right amount of pho noodles & broth. The broth tasted quite sweet until I added the leaves, lime & of course, hoisin sauce. I came off a "crazy" night in AC and decided the best way to end this excursion was to indulge in some delicious Vietnamese food. Off the bat walking in, there is a very unique smell in that restaurant -- I think it's from the seafood options they have available. They could stand to use more waitstaff as it appeared to me they had 2 people running that entire restaurant (so there were some dirty tables that had a bit of a wait to be cleaned)...As you settle in, however and begin to eat, you forget that all. Decent food for the price. We had the spring rolls for appetizers but was disappointed that they only gave 2 per order (compared to 4 at other places). Though to be fair their spring rolls are longer. The spring roll filling is a bit mushy and the meat doesn't have much texture to it. I ordered the vermicelli with grilled pork, shrimp and spring roll. The pork was too salty, though the shrimp was perfectly cooked with good flavors. The pickled carrots that accompanied the dish wasn't exactly balanced in taste (lacked sweetness) but they were crunchy to the bite. Hubby ordered a large beef pho, there wasn't enough meat in it and the broth could use a little more beef flavor to it. I also got the Thai iced tea and that tasted pretty authentic. My mom wanted Vietnamese food while we were at Atlantic City. We found this place not far from Harrah's and decided to go there. The atmosphere is rather low in lighting but makes up from the abundance amount of customers constantly coming in and out. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue along with the hot Vietnamese coffee. The size was small but the roast was really strong which was good. The Bun Bo Hue was very hot and moderately spicy, one of the best Bun Bo Hue I ever had. Overall the food was pretty good. This restaurant is pretty authentic, with friendly service and quick food preparation. Our orders were done in a good timely matter. The restaurant was also clean and spacious. The reason for 3 stars was the food. The broth for my noodles were a little sweet when it should be salty. The spring rolls (although hot) were bland. The rice with the beef cubes were not served with broken rice, a basic traditional dish usually is served with Vietnamese broken rice. The restaurant served ice water instead of hot tea. Most restaurant would serve hot tea especially in colder season (currently December). Another problematic issue was when the table next to us checked out the wait staff sprayed what seems and smells like Windex in the table. The aroma ruined my appetite. And almost close to 9:30 the workers were already mopping the establishment while we were still eating. I felt mopping and sweeping chores should never be done during customers dining time. The Clorox, chemicals and dust flying around while we're digesting our supper just made our experience worst. I hope others learn not to dine here close to closing time. i honestly do not know why everyone LOVES pho sydney so much. it honestly is not good... lol in my opinion. the pho is gross, ive had it probably a handfull of times and a few of those times i swear that something went bad whether it be the meat of the noodles. theres always this weird like sour taste. the soup half of the time also does not come piping hot. i did try the BBH though and that was better than the pho. it comes with shrimp paste and theres nothing that shrimp paste cant make better =P but i mean if you do go i suggest the bbh. ive also tried the shrimp and beef vermicelli that was okay... but nothing special. honestly theres better viet places in AC. read more

The broth was pretty decent in my pho. Nothing to write home about but decent with plenty of mint and cilantro to add. However the meat is well, yucky. As someone who gets pho all the time I was very skeptical at the CHEAP $8 price tag for pho with steak AND meatballs. As you can see from my photos the meatballs are creepy mystery meat. I come to Pho Sydney every time I'm in AC. Definitely the best hangover food after a wild night out.. haha who can relate? I usually get the pho with everything, I believe it's the first on the list. The ingredients are fresh and the soup is always comforting. Whether you get the small or large bowl, there's plenty of noodles and meat to get by. I have also tried the grilled pork sandwich and that is good as well! My friend gets vermicelli here with grilled chicken and spring rolls. She loves it and after trying hers, I could see why! The summer rolls here are perfectly wrapped and I really like the shrimp. Service here is pretty good - although there are a lot of customers, the food comes fast and it usually doesn't take long to be seated unless you have a large party. I'm taking one star off because the prices here are a little more than what I'm used to in NYC/Brooklyn but that's probably because there's not many Vietnamese restaurants in AC. read more

This place is well a little into the city and out of the tourist resorts area but definitely worth getting food from here. Service is quick and has very good seasoning. He said "Thank you!" up front so that gave us a nice first impression. But when he started going into the food ordering, there was some confusion. So some people who wanted something else did not know when the waiter will get to them. He ended up taking orders individually. Came here about 3 times while in AC. I've tried their Bun Bo Hue and Pho (Small). The Pho broth is pretty flavorful and filling. The Bun Bo Hue on the other hand was bland and super oily. Definitely don't recommend ordering the Bun Bo Hue. We did see the server wipe the hot chili sauce that fell onto his hand back into the cup and served it onto our table. If you go to AC only once, you should make it a point to try one of the many Vietnamese restaurants that have proliferated here. After being at the casino all night, treat youself to a big bowl of comforting hot Pho. You deserve it... given all the money you lost and that nasty hangover that's relentless. This is the original hangover soup, as science has recently proven...ok, just kidding, but it does help. And Pho Sydney is the best Vietnamese in AC that I've been to. In fact, this is the best Pho I can recall having in NJ. As any Pho-aphile knows, the secret is the beef marrow broth that I am told takes days to make. This one is redolent of star anise, cardamom and other spices resulting in a sublimely seasoned broth. Then you can have any number of parts of a cow added that cook in the piping hot broth. This is served with the traditional side of bean sprouts, Thai basil, and jalapenos, giving it a wonderful balance of textures and flavors. They also have other kickass dishes, like the pork chops and rice with a fried egg, great spring rolls and rice paper rolls, and Banh Mi (any number of Vietnamese sandwichs served on French baguette) to die for. On this visit I wanted to expand my culinary horizons, so I ordered the Bun Bo Hue. This is a spicy beef and pork noodle soup. Here it is served with chilli oil and a salty shrimp paste on the side that you can add for extra flavor. When I ordered, the waiter wanted to confirm that I knew what I was getting into. He asked if I liked blood (pudding) and ham hocks. Well there's only one way to find out, right? The soup was good but heavier than Pho and not to my liking as much. But I chalk that up to cultural and personal preference. We ended the meal with some very good Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. Kinda a coffee and dessert in one. One caveat, don't come here expecting great service. I don't mean to imply that the waiters ignore you or are rude, it's just that they do things at their own pace, not yours. But when the food is dead on, I can overlook that. read more

If you need some hangover pho, this is your place to go. My party of 12 came on a Saturday afternoon and were immediately seated. They have an ample amount of seating so they can accommodate big parties. Another plus about this place is that they have their own parking lot. I had ordered the Large #9 and the noodles were different than regular NY pho, but I'm not complaining. The pho was nice and hot. Plenty of meat in it as well. It wasn't out of this world, but honestly for a hangover meal, who's really critiquing?! This hit the spot. For some reason, whenever my girlfriends and I go to AC, we always always have a craving for pho on our departure day. So of course, I took charge and Yelped the closest Viet restaurant with the best reviews. We landed on Pho Sydney and sooooo glad we did. We all ordered different variations of pho and a few orders of spring rolls. The spring rolls came out first and you can tell right away it was made differently from what you're used to. The skin was thinner and rather than pairing it with lettuce, they give you one piece of lettuce accompanied by pickled veggies (carrots and radish) and fish sauce. The lack of lettuce is ok by me as I never pair with it anyway. I really love the fact that the skin of the spring rolls was thinner. I convinced myself that the thinness of the skin allowed the meat to cook faster and thereby, no chance for the meat to dry out - which I find to be the problem with most places. The filling was extremely moist and flavorful. You can taste the crab meat right away. The pho came out shortly after - just after my first bite of spring roll in fact! Fast service! By a rule of thumb, I always taste the broth first without adding any extra ingredients (lime juice, bean sprouts, basil, etc). I want to be able to get the real flavor of the broth. I was surprised. The broth was pretty clear, which is an indication that it has not been cooked long enough, but it had all the flavoring it needed. The sweetness of the beef bone and marrow, the all spice, star anise - you can taste it all. When I finally had the first spoonful of noodles, I was in heaven. The noodles were cooked to perfection. The amount of beef, tripe, tendon, and flank was perfect - as in perfectly abundant! I can't wait to go back to AC just so I can visit Pho Sydney again. P.S. This is the first Vietnamese restaurant that I walked into without having to worry about slipping on floor or using the restroom. The entire place is so clean!! Tip: There is a parking lot. Went to atlantic city for the weekend with friends and after a night of drinking, all we wanted was pho and this had good reviews so we decided to check it out! They have a parking lot 2 parking lots over. The place was packed even though we went on Monday at 2 pm. Everyone at my table got a #9 which is the typical beef pho and it came with meatballs too. You can either get the small size for $8.50 or pay a dollar more for the large! The food came out pretty fast but not everyones bowls came out at once which is weird since we all ordered the same thing.. LOL The pho was good in my opinion except that it was pretty oily. It definitely wasn't the best pho I had but i was content with it! Or i may just have been really hungry cause a couple of my friends weren't impressed with the pho and said only the first few bites were good.
