Pho was piiiping hot but it was good! I got spring rolls and it was delicious with the meat inside

If you're in Atlantic City, this would be the go to if you're hungover, but other than that I think they could really improve on a two things: 1. the pho, 2. the service. The pho tasted fine, however there was a good amount of oil, which I haven't seen before. In regards to the service, they did seat us very quickly, however it took almost 10-15minutes before we were tended to, which I thought was not reasonable because it wasn't busy. There maybe 4 other tables that were sat. And then for the check, it took 15minutes to retrieve. I will say that this is strictly for just stopping in for a hangover cure, not full on restaurant experience. If they just fix those two issues, I think the place would be good. There was plenty of seating and plenty of room to move, and cleanliness was decent. I'll most likely stop in the next time I'm in A.C. to see if anything has changed. read more

Don't eat the crappy food on the board walk -- walk over two avenues and try out this place. High quality food at affordable prices. The pho broth was really flavorful, but there was a fair amount of oil floating on the surface. Relative to other pho restaurants in Boston, NYC & Houston (only cities where I've had pho), I thought the noodle quantity was adequate but definitely not comparable to other restaurant's large size. The grilled pork rice plate had a healthy portion of meat and some pickled veggies. Standard dishes at most pho restaurants, but it was really good here. The banh mi - grilled pork - came with really soft bread but was lacking in meat. There were only a couple pieces on each half of the sandwich. You are better off just ordering the grilled pork rice plate which gives you 3x the amount of meat that's in the sandwich and only 2x the price. The main waiter was very nice and attentive. The manager/owner, whoever is behind the counter accepting money, was a little rude. When we initially came in to let them know that we were waiting for a table, he immediately dismissed us and said just to wait because he was busy. Great Pho in Atlantic City! The pho broth is one of the best I have ever had. Heavy notes of anise and five spice round out this bold and dark pho broth. There load you up with plenty of your selected steak in this bowl. The summer rolls however are lacking. They are small and not as loaded as I would enjoy at other Vietnamese establishments. The pho though is a great bowl and highly recommended. The service is good, and when you're done you pay up front. I can't say enough about how much I enjoy the pho here when Im in AC. read more

It's kind of a twilight zone experience going here for lunch, there's usually a muted soap opera or judge Judy playing on the television as international covers of American pop songs play in the background. You have a front row seat if you sit by the window to see Atlantic City mutants shuffle down Atlantic Avenue looking for cigarette butts or spare change, but maybe that's all part of this place's charm. This doesn't happen often, but I actually went to this restaurant without doing any research on yelp whatsoever. I was a bit hesitant with this random pho place amongst of sea of pizza & sub shops, especially with its uninviting exterior. This would be the perfect "Don't judge a book by its cover" situation. We ordered the iced coffee (eh), shrimp/pork/beef fresh spring roll appetizer (YES!), pho (#1), and egg noodle soup with shrimp, fishballs, etc (I forget the name but I think it was #24?...the 1st in its section). Both broths were absolutely PERFECT and the meats were definitely fresh and tender. My boyfriend eats pho on a regular basis and gave their pho two thumbs up and then some. As for myself, not only was my belly satisfied, the whole meal barely made a dent in my wallet. I think the bill came up to only $25! Their service was pretty good, but one of my pet peeves is when the main course food does not come out at the same time. My boyfriend got his pho about 15 minutes before I received my egg noddle soup. Is it that difficult to hold off on the pho while my egg noodle soup is cooking?? Have the Pho! It is fantastic! It's more rustic than the pho in other places we have eaten, but we liked that! If you like tendon and tripe in your soup, and I do, theirs was very good and lots of it. Be sure to finish your meal with hot Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk. Man there is something to be said about authentic...place is a old and the afternoon clientele are even older. Nice feel. The pho with everything scary is the way to go. If tendon and tripe are not for you go with just rare beef and flank. The broth is what this noodle bowl is a about. Greens are cold and fresh and the condiment bottles are not sticky. All important to me. Got a Bahn mi to go of course. Guessing that will be good. At 4 bucks for a big sandwich with real ingredients is a steal. I love the Vietnamese hot coffee. Google it so you know what to do when it is served. In all very comparable to a phobang in Flushing. I came in on a Saturday night and the place was fairly empty. We ordered the pork spring rolls, pork chop with shredded pork and egg, and pho noodles. Everything was delicious and fresh! I especially loved the soup base for the noodles. I usually like to eat my pho noodles with the hoisin sauce and hot sauce, but the soup base was so good, I ate the noodles as is. The raw beef was also very fresh and delicious, not chewy at all! The pork chop was tender and juicy. The spring rolls were okay, but I wasn't too fond of the filling. I was a bit concerned as my GPS took me through the Tanger Outlets to get to this restaurant. I was at the outlets earlier and had to pay for parking. However, they have free parking for patrons just 2 lots over next to Maria's Luncheonette. The interior is dim with more rundown tables and chairs. But I don't mind the "hole in the wall" look. It wasn't busy when I dined in so they let me seat myself. Their menu has a decent variety of Vietnamese food. My appetizer (Grilled Pork Rolls) and drink (Strawberry Smoothie) were good but the Pho was what disappointed me. I ordered the #22 and turns out their "Chín" meat is actually just steak cooked well-done, instead of flank. I read the Vietnamese title instead of the English, so I misunderstood. My noodles were WAY WAY WAY overcooked. Super soggy and mushy. The noodles weren't white anymore. The broth was good but I'm a noodle fanatic so I couldn't eat it anymore. The rest of their ingredients were fresh and their prices are average. They brought my food out really fast, but that's because it wasn't busy when I came. They don't bring the check to you so go to the cashier to pay. I don't mind that but there's no sign that states you gotta get up to pay your bill. this place was close to the boardwalk and the outlet. had free parking for patrons (probably best part about the place) Food tasted different from a new york style pho spot. The Pho seemed to look better and seemed to have been prepared with more care and thought. Been coming to AC every year for the past 10 years and I'm so sad to only have discovered this place now. Been here more than once with the past few days. Okay fine, the ambience isn't the greatest. It's a bit divey. There is duct tape holding some of the seats together. But it's not bad. The location is perfect, very close to the shops. We were seated right away. The server was nice, attentive and really nice. Brought out our food quickly. The food! Omg the food!!! Just AWESOME!!! The food is definitely good, but I do find the service a little disappointing. They just didn't interact with any of the tables and rushed with the service if anything. I believe their viewpoint is to bring people in and out as quickly as possible for a faster turnaround. I didn't mind it too much but it would be nice if they took their time with each table. This was our first stop of the Vietnamese places mentioned in the recent NYT article. And it turned out to be the best. Chicken with lemongrass - very flavorful. Most places in NYC cannot get this dish to taste even half as good. The beef pho we had was also very good. Low prices, great portions and a ton better than what you will get at any of the Asian restaurants in the casinos. That doesn't take away from the quality of the meal though. The meat was tender and noodles were cooked to perfection. It had a nice chew and still very bouncy in the soup. We got there around 11:45 am leaving Atlantic City. They sat us as soon as we walked in and our waiter was very attentive. It wasn't packed at all. They were chop sticks and various sauces already on the table. I ordered the #4 (veggie rolls) and #23 (Chicken Noodle). It was superb, fresh and I wanted more and more. The soup was not too hot and the noodles were fantastic. I ordered the large because it was my first time. Next time I go to Atlantic City, I will come here again. This restaurant can accommodate a lot of people as it's pretty big. We sat down and someone tossed the menu at the table. I shrugged my shoulders, maybe it's a fluke cause they are busy or something. Our waiter took our order and we waited 15 mins before we got our water after asking twice for it. Our food came out before our water. The person serving the pho didn't even ask who had what pho. He just threw the bowl on the table for us. The portion was on okay despite the bowl looks small for a large size. I asked for the "beef fat with scallion" twice and the guy said it was coming twice but obviously he forgot and never got it at all. As for the quality of the soup, I guess it's decent for people who are hungover. But for me, it was okay. Not the best pho nor was it the worse pho I had. It was simply okay. You have to go up to the counter to pay and you have to remember what table number you sat at because the guy will keep yelling at you "what table what table"? The calculation is manual so it's easy for them to miscalculated so knowing an estimate of the total is a good idea before going up to pay. read more

Honestly, I can not believed I had a meal here. Was just passing through Atlantic City and was on the way up to NYC. My boyfriend was craving pho so what else do I do? Yelp around.. Across from the Trump Casino and with parking, I love this Vietnamese place in a touristy area. 1) Chicken Pho (Good, but it's just not hot enough for my plate) 2) BBQ Pork Bah Mi- I like it, but they were missing the cilantro 3) Summer Spring Rolls (Check and can't really go wrong with it. However, the sauce is less peanut and thinner than normal) 4) Service- kind of slow for Viet food and there was only 1 serve on a Sat at noon!!! I am a constant Yelper. My yearning for good food can not be satisfied within the walls of ANY hotel/ casino. And as such I felt the need to venture out into Atlantic City that is the residential area for just that delight. The service as we went in on Saturday was on point. Friendly and English speaking is always a good thing. I came for Pho and so I Pho outed. I ordered the Pho with beef, beef tendon, and tripe (another part of the cow). It was delicious and on par with Viet shops that I visit in Queens/Manhattan. Yes for Sriracha on table even with the supple shortage due to the shut down of the factory due to legal battle with the community that in which they mass produce their sauces. Sucks. I also felt adventurous and ordered the Beef Stew with Egg Noodles. The noodles was good as well as was the beef, The orange, red broth that has LOADS of oil in it I didn't particularly like. It could have been a much simpler broth and still be tasty. We came back to this same Pho shop on a Sunday and service was different. Very Iffy service on Sundays and often times 2 waiters would need to come to get either the order or any sort of service right. 1 for the service and 1 for the English speaking, NONE were good. The Pho was still good. I also felt adventurous on Sunday and ordered the Beef Stew with Rice noodles. Holy shyt that was nasty. The noodles was fine. The beef slices was fine. HOLY SHYT, what is this "beef"/tofu looking patty doing in my soup BRO! Same unpleasant surprise is also directed at cow's blood cubes and chunks of this very fatty chunk of beef. Yeah, SKIP #59 on the menu. I didn't bother to ask why wasn't it just BEEF & NOODLES as it is stated because for that I'd have to sit through more slow/borderline illiterate service for another 10 minutes. Soooo I've been an avid user (i.e., leacher) of Yelp for the better part of the past four years while living in the Greater NY/NJ area and I've finally seen the light to articulate my very first Yelp review! Hands down this place is every bit worth it and has inspired me to great heights as I try my best to paint a sensual picture of what I am experiencing here right now as I slurp on fantastic pho and chew tenderly on some bodacious beef. First thing I notice about this place that strikes the chords of my heart is the New Jersey freshness of their accessory pho veggies. As I nibble on the bean sprouts to assess their vitality, the sound of it's crispiness resonates across the restaurant and reaches even the ears of anyone sitting in the restroom. Next, the slurpiness factor of the pho broth deserves an easy 10 out of 10 (based on color, clarity, and the level of stickiness that the broth leaves on the rim of my mouth). Straight up "wow" Finally, the chewiness of the noodle and the varying generous pieces of meat (my pho order #9 contained steak, flank, tendon, tripe, beef meat ball) deserves a standing ovation gold star rating!!! It's almost as if the magical chefs individually rolled each piece of noodle and painstakingly cut each piece of meat to customized bite-size perfection. YumMMM... I must also give a huge shout out to the waiting staff as they have been super attentive to our dining needs and eager to address any questions we may have had. So I grew up in California where pho also thrives and currently live next to a fine Vietnamese man who knows a thing or two about good pho and we would both validate the authenticity and deliciousness of the pho here at Pho Sydney. Their rib eye steak order (#79) was also to die for, just saying... So to end, I would take the NJ transit to A.C. from Rahway JUST to eat here and even bypass all the gambling. Period. read more

Came here on Halloween night after a little but of trick or treating with the kids. We were surprised to find out little ghosts and goblins roaming these nonresidential streets in search of sweet treats. Service and food was good. Someone forgot to ask to leave out the cilantro, but the waiter gladly brought out another bowl. The grilled pork in my vermicelli was very tasty. The pho broth was good but perhaps a bit stronger than I'm used to. Considering everything in this area is overpriced, it's good to know places like these exist. And as Neal mentioned, the bathrooms needs a serious renovation. read more
