So good. Always fresh. Sometimes the service is slow if they are busy but that's never been a problem for me. They also run out of the cheese piroshkies sometimes. Better make extra batches cuz that's my favorite. Their ponchiks are good too. Haven't tried anything else. A note on the attitude you might get from the employees. If you get attitude and think it's because you aren't Armenian, that's just not true. Us Armenians get the same attitude :). I guess we just look past it because we are used to it. The no smiling, no eye contact, and abrupt speech is given to all. Don't let it distract you from the deliciousness that you are about to enjoy. Holy piroshki this place is good. I was in the mood for some baked goodness and have driven passed this place but never stopped. I have read reviews on their meat and potato pastry but I guess they must be awesome because they were all out. I decided to have the only thing they had left, the cheesy goodness pictured below. Flaky crust, filled with cheese and went well with coffee, need I say more? Price you say, $1.50!! I'm not sure what the other reviews on customer service were about as the woman who helped us was sweet and greeted us as we came in. The place is super clean too. They have a selection of drinks such as tan, kvas, and various Russian sodas. Additionally they sell Russian cookies and snacks (including semechki (sunflower seeds)) Recommendations: -meat and cheese piroshki (call ahead because it's a special order kind of thing) -the potato piroshki is better than the meat piroshki (I think) -get a couple piroshki and then go next door to victory bread for some jingalov hats and you've got yourself a great meal P.S. minimum for card is $10 so keep that in mind read more

There are a lot of places that serve piroshki, but this one is my favorite because they make it fresh every time, and they serve it to you right after it's been made. After that, a woman named Ashley who worked at the front desk recommended the House of bread to me, so I went there to give it a shot. Best piroshki in La hands down, the only reason this place gets 3 stars instead of a full 5 is because they don't care about turns. I ordered over the phone so it doesn't take long to pick up. I get to the store 2 min before the given time. Waiting for the woman who was there before me, another woman walks in and shouts, "I made an order over the phone" and after finishing with the previous woman instead of helping me (who has been standing there for 5 minutes already) she helps the loud woman who walked in declared her order. Such warm, inviting, friendly service. Greeted with huge smiles, from both the counter person and my fellow customers. Quality baked goods. The piroshki (beef, potato, cheese) were only $1.50 each and came fresh, straight out of the oven, with no discernible wait. The mini khachapuri were far from "mini" at only 95¢ each. And then a huge beorek stuffed full with meat and jalapeño? Marvelous! The only drawback is the tiny, overflowing parking lot. I had to circle two times to find street parking. The only challenge I foresee is making it all the way home without succumbing to the wonderful odors filling my car and breaking into that box while I am still driving. Think of a ponchik and instead of sweet, it's savory and instead of round it's long. They have two piroshkis: beef and potatoes. I've noticed that men like the beef and women prefer the potato. I love the potato!!! It is so smooth, succulent, savory, scrumptious, yummy, delicious, seasoned to absolute perfection in a piroshki!!! The beef is good too!!! I'm not hating. But, the potato is soooooooo good. The beef is a little dry, and you MUST SPRINKLE the spicy salt!! Don't forget!!! It's so easy to over sprinkle because the spicy salt is so yummy! Their pirashki is very good hear. Whatever they use in the dough, is good quality and doesn't go bad the next day. They're tasty. They're also better priced compared to others in the area. I love this place! I grew up in West Hollywood. My mom use to work at a nail shop next to t&y Russian bakery on Santa Monica. 28 plus years ago and as a child I would walk next door and get my piroshki. Then we moved to valley and it's been too far. I've been tracking down and trying so so many places and this is the best! It's not oily, crisp, the seasoning is on point! Potato is bomb! (So that means they gave my order to someone else). The women who was helping me had no remorse and stated "what do you want me to do about that". Such rude customer service on their end.
