As I walked in, there was a couple that finish paying for their stuff and walked away toward the fridge. I assumed they were done, the cashier looked at me and asked what I wanted. So, I'm in the middle of ordering, as the couple approached back to the cashier. She looked at them and started to help them. I'm sorry for interrupting your transaction. How rude of me! (yes, i'm being sarcastic) She didn't even excuse herself. Oh well... finally, I ordered and paid. I was looking around to see if I can have a seat, as she went to the back. She came back with a box of my order. 1 dozen of 2 different flavor Piroshki. They were already fried. I thought these places fry them after you've placed the order. The meat flavor was good. I've never had a Piroshki before! If you're like me and going into this blind, it reminded me of a cross between a savory donut and an empanada. It was REALLY good, very affordable. We also got a little cheese turnover thing (totally spacing on the name here), which was also excellent, but next time I'd ask for them to heat it up like the hot Piroshki. Why is this place PONCHIK better than Papillon International Bakery?? 1. It's only 75 cents 2. The filling is greater than dough ratio 3. The dough is thinner, softer, and less doughy/bread-like. 4. No need to call 15 mins to preorder 5. Lots of parking space 6. The ponchik are all the SAME size. 7. It's closer to my house:) There's not as many selection as Papillion but that's okay with me because I usually get custard:) read more

I came across this place because I was craving a pirozhki and it's a little hidden gem in a small lot. They had food displays of the food they offer which is good because I like to see how the food looks before ordering. I got two pirozhki - a potato one and cheese. Oh my gawdd, I couldn't decide which one tasted better because they're both very delicious. The potato was soft and flavorful and the cheese was cheesy and flavorful as well. Both were warm and in my opinion you could have eaten half of each and shared the other. I also got a desert with a custard filling, I can't remember the name but that was tasty as well. All my items were $2.50 each which is great in my opinion. The service was fantastic! Ashley was the worker who helped us out and was suggesting what items to try. She was patient and always kept a smile. She made it feel like a welcoming experience. Def will be going back, and that's a lot to do because I live in west LA so it is a little drive, but it's worth it :D read more

The Piroshkis here are amazing. The best ones out of all bakeries is Los Angeles area. Always fresh to order and delicious. They have beef, cheese and potato. One of my favorite bakeries around ... Also their ponchiks (cream filled dough) are really good. Not to sweet and the dough is thin, perfectly fried. No bad oil taste or smell. Small parking , busy plaza and long wait on weekends. Better to order ahead of time to save time. The reason for the 4 star is for the customer service. I have been going here for over 5 years and always the same service. I'm not a big Yelper but I had to express the amazingness this place and it's staff have! Best ponchiks in LA hands down! Very underrated and it's sad. There's other ponchik bakeries that are utterly disgusting and people only go because they are good at marketing, not product. I had the pleasure to meet Ashley on couple occasions and she was so sweet, all the times. Whether busy or stressed, her attitude is calm and kind. I visited Papillon and the people who work there are terrible and always have an attitude and seem like they are forced to be there. Dear Hubby made a piroshki run for us earlier this week. I'd been craving Russian food, and the Yelp search indicated this was the closest location to find the yeasty dough treat. He picked up several potato-filled, and also several ground beef-filled. Both were seasoned with the right touch of flavor to pair with the fluffy bread exterior. Their style is an elongated tube shape, almost like a fat Cuban cigar. I grew up with piroshkis being shaped more like a sweet potato - chubby with filling in the middle. At $1.25 each, I won't quibble on the look. They are an excellent value for a satisfying Old World taste. As they are fried, they can be a bit greasy. Recommend giving them a gentle squeeze with a napkin to cut down on some of the excess. I wouldn't eat them every day, but it sure is great to have a nostalgic taste occasionally which brings back happy memories of my grandmother. May be a good thing that they don't have one closer to us?! read more

Really good and simple Pirashki, beef and potato. And their beef ponchik is good, too. The prices are great! Get what you can eat that day. They're best when fresh, hot and crispy. The next day you'll have to bake it to get the bread just right. Not microwave! I was the only non-Polish person in the long line. That says a lot that Polish are going. It's means it must be good, and it is. I love that neighborhood feeling, like they're bringing a little bit of Poland to the Polish community here in the Valley. It's just a small place in the corner of a strip mall. I'll be coming back to try the pirashki cheese! And some of the imported cookies and ice cream :). read more

There are a lot of places like this in Los Angeles County but this one is specifically special it is not too greasy not too big and not too small just the right size I stopped going elsewhere as soon as they opened up this location please call before you arrive so you don't have to wait in line although it's well worth it but just to save time it's better to call parking is little hectic but there street parking also available before cashiers used to be non unfriendly but lately they have improved customer service this is why everyone I know comes to this location because of customer service and food read more
