I love their Pizza Piroshki, but think the rest of what they make is just too dry. I think the reason the Pizza one is so good is because it has a sauce in it. I wonder if they experimented with a sauce in some of their other Piroshki's if it would turn out better. (Say one made with pastrami, cheese, mayo, peppers or something). I also find that about half the time I come in here, the Piroshki I want is sold out already. I love this place. I work on the hill and I've often stopped by for a Piroshki (I love the cheese, broccoli and potato) and they have AMAZING desserts... more recently I've started getting my coffee there everyday. I always went to Starbucks because it's so close, but now, my Mocha's will only be made there. He uses Cafe Vita coffee and every drink I have had is as good as the next. I have my coworkers going there now... and to top it all of, you get a complimentary shortbread cookie with every drink. What a great way to start your day! read more

This place came to mind as a unique option my colleagues would be sure to enjoy. I showed up at 6:45 am to get a large order of tasty Piroshki to go! Some of the women here are VERY rude. FYI the place closes by 4:30, but if you're there after 4, be prepared to be treated like a nuisance.The piroshki are fine, however they use sauerkraut instead of regular fresh cabbage and the broccoli is probably frozen (overcooked/limp). The beef piroshki are quite good, if you heat them up. The pelmeni (wonton-like dumplings) used to be decent, but they reheat them now (after they've been cooked) so they are soggy and falling apart. The meat they use is cheap, you will get gristle every time. Also - traditionally they should be cooked in broth, but they don't bother here, so they are very bland. For some reason, the place refuses to offer traditional sauces such as vinegar and soy sauce, but they do have hot sauce. The desserts are ok, but are often old (rubbery custard, soggy pastry). read more

I was introduced to piroshkis by my husband at a county fair. They were amazing! The only problem was they were fried! (I'm trying to be healthy) Then I found Piroshki on Madison! All of their piroshkis are baked. They are Fabulous!!!! I brought home a beef and Mushroom for my husband and he did a happy dance! I have never seen him to that before. Most of the reviews here are on the Piroshki they serve. Yes, they are delicious and I know that other people here already have described the goodness of it better than I would do. One thing I might add is that their soup is also amazingly good. Everyday they have a soup of the day along with their daily home made Borscht. You have to try it, all of the soups are so good. I like piroshki! I liked the dough the best, but I only tried one filling so far, the beef and mushroom which was okay. I didn't care much for the chicken noodle soup that I added on for just a couple of bucks. The guy at the counter was really nice and helpful in deciding which filling to get. read more

Very nice Russian pastry of the savory and sweet kinds. He tosses in some other Eastern but not Russian treats from time to time. I knocked a little old lady down so she wouldn't get the last ketha(sp?) dessert. "Quick, grab the old bat! OMG! EAT HERE! (better then Piroshki Piroshki).. family run, made from scratch & really really good if you like Piroshki's, potato's and sweet pastries. I had the potato & cheese Piroshki & it's the best I have ever had, the dough was perfect & fluffy, the filling was seasoned with tarragon which made it out of this world. In all fairness I was there in the morning and stuff was hot, being that this was my first time there I don't know when they stop baking stuff but it seemed like they have things coming up most of the day. I also tried the Poppy seed roll & it was heaven, chewy, sweet a little sticky, great with strong black coffee. There a little pricey though but well worth it I'd say! read more

How about zero stars. Here is my sad experience with this place. I have a work party to go on Saturday and decided to bring some Russian food, being from Russia originally. I heard about piroshki on 3rd from someone in Issaquah and decided to give them a try. I called Madison location on Tuesday 5/27 and ordered 2 dozens of bite-sized piroshkis for pick up on Friday 5/30. Male employee answered my call, got my name, phone number and assured me that he doesn't need my card as we can pay at pick up. When my husband showed up at 3 pm on Friday to pick up the order, I asume same male employee told him that he doesn't have any orders to pick up and basically acted like we are lying about placing this order. He was very dismissive. Bottom-line: it is very frustrating for me to write this review about a business that is from my country of origin. I have tried just about every piroshki and desert there, and have never had a bad one! I've also had the pelmeni, which is also good. The man behind the counter apologized profusely (I didn't think waiting was a big deal) for the 10 minute wait for the pelmeni, and said next time to call ahead so it will be ready when I arrive. read more

Over the years, the prices have slowly gone up with inflation ( I remember when it was just 3 or 4 dollars for a piroshki!) but the quality has remained the same. When the guy running the place is there, he's always really great, putting in an extra poppy seed role piece or cookie. They also are great about giving you a free piroshki every time you buy nine (stamp cards. like the ones you often see in coffee places.) I love their cabbage mushroom and spinach cheese mushroom. Their borsch is also a-mazing, and all their desserts are wonderful. I tried their baklava recently, not expecting it to be anything special, but it was sooo good! They really do great desserts. I have been a fan of piroshkis, so I had to try this place. I came a little after the The lunch rush and really found that this place was a gem. I have the special where you get soup and any Piroshki for about $10; this is a great deal the soup that they give you is like a huge bowl of soup it was chicken and deal and it was just delicious. The PiroshkiI had was beef and cabbage and it was just wonderful: too much food for me to eat. I really think the measure of a good Piroshky is how delicious the dough is and how savory the filling is in comparison. I actually thought that the door was much better than Piroshki, Piroshki and had a definite fresh-baked, yeasty is taste to it. The Piroshky had a golden brown cover. Soft where it met with the filling in the middle. I was full but actually had to get an apple turnover that was wonderful with puff pastry . We stopped by this small little piroshki place after reading some yelp reviews and quite frankly it was the best dang Russian pastry I've ever had the pleasure of pleasing my palette with! The bread was so very soft and flaky, with a hint of sweetness to it! It was DELICIOUS! The filling itself was finely cubed and gave off an authentic feel to it. We will definitely be back for more! UPDATE - since we were in the area, and this spot was closed, we decided to try another yelp reviewed spot: Piroshky Piroshky on Pike Pl. They did not even compare. It was such a let-down. They got more stars, but I'm guessing that has something to do with the thousands of people who had something to say, and the many who don't understand quality. Piroshki, oh my what can I say, I love you. Why it took me so long to try you is beyond me!I had my piroshki cherry popped last week, and I am ever grateful to my friend for showing me the light. I walked in one rainy morning to try a beef and mushroom and a double 12 oz mocha. I have gone 3 times alone this last week! I've also had the beef and potato and the cabbage and potato. The bad? It's literally below my work. Oy vey, I am going to have to seek a intervention, but not until I try the ever popular salmon and cream cheese! The coffee that the man makes here is also top notch and delicious. He prides himself on giving you the perfect latte or in my case, cafe mocha. The complimentary cookie that comes with coffee is also good too. I am still wanting to try their eclair with bavarian cream. Oh did I mention there's desserts to choose from too? I think I'll have to make it a once a week thing. I don't mind it replacing my Starbucks breakfast, but I am in the process of working off the extra baggage I got on me, if you know what I mean. I will have to try the borscht one day, I love beets and have had borscht here and there. I am sure that is delicious too! I ate here pretty frequently when I worked in the area, and that's been more than a few years, so I was excited that it is still here despite all of the growth and changes and influx of chain places in the area. It is a small store with just a couple of tables and bar type seating. Most of the shop is taken up by the cases of delicious piroshki and desserts. They serve many types of piroshki: veggie, cheese, meat, traditional, not-so-traditional. I have never had one that I didn't enjoy. I had a potato, cabbage, and cheese one this last time. The potatoes were a mashed potato consistency, well blended with the cabbage and cheese. The bread was soft and tasty. The women who work here are the same women I remember from years ago, and they provide a slightly stiff, helpful kind of customer service. If you need super effusive, hold your hand, mommy to toddler level customer service...this isn't the place for you. The desserts I remember being really good. The prices are low. They have bottled drinks and espresso drinks. Unlike the other more famous piroshki place in town, you DO NOT have to wait in an ridiculous line and IMO, these pastries are better. read more

This is food I would walk a mile out of my way to eat : sometimes you just get the craving for something warm and delicious, not to mention budget-friendly and, as the old lady sitting next to me commented, "filling." To by honest, I've only tried the cabbage and mushroom piroshki, but it's so tasty that every time I go there I have to get it. I love how each different variety is marked with a different decoration; I guess it's so they can tell them apart when they're cooked, but it's a nice touch. Plus, there are many options for both meat-eaters and vegetarians (the butteryness of the dough tells me it's probably not vegan though). Good food, eat here. read more
