This place was interesting. I enjoyed the personal hot pots. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had 5 at our 8 person table and it was tight. I can't imagine 8 people[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].. we had an issue with my pot at the beginning, one coworker thought it was the burners, but then another saw it was because the pot wasn't making full contact with the burner, and as a safety feature, the burner doesn't get very hot because of it. They swapped my pot and it worked perfectly. I wish they would train their staff about this, so they know moving forward. Once it was all working, then it became an enjoy full experience! The veggie bar was very fresh!! They have some meats at the bar as well. We practically filled up on the bar side. Between 5 of us we ordered 8 plates of meats and we were good. So it's probably best to skip the bar with all the extras for a while. They let me mix up to 2 broths together, I mixed curry and mushroom. Perfect combination! I ordered spicy tuna and spicy salmon, one was packed very nicely, the other was quite sad looking. The desert is included in the all you can eat price. The only thing not included was my alcoholic beverage. All-in-all, I'd definitely come back, very tasty flavors and everything!
[[HIGHLIGHT]]PK Shabu & Grill is a hot pot place you can go to for casual dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a brilliant concept of all you can eat from choosing your broth to picking your meat and grabbing the veggies and sides yourselves. They have a wide variety of sides and veggies to choose from. They also have appetizer menu and sushi selection where you can order any items as a part of all you can eat. Personally, I won't try their sushi but that's just a personal preference. The appetizers were okay. The service is okay, the taste is okay, and they also include one dessert per person. I loved the idea but overall experience as a whole was just okay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have clean restrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have friendly servers and chefs behind the stir fry section seem knowledgeable about what they are doing. Like I said overall experience was okay. There was nothing wrong just won't be a next time. It was that kind of restaurant for me, one time experience was one time too many. PS It didn't occur to me to want to take any pictures to share with anyone or to keep it for myself. I am deleting the couple pictures that I took after this review.
Was recommended and in was eager to try it out. It is on Dobson and Broadway. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon entry, there is plenty of tables and quite spread out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Quickly seated and greeted. This place is all included. One price and literally can eat anything. Started with water and the set out to get the vegetables. So many to choose from! The variety was amazing. When I got back to my table, the broth was waiting, piping hot! Start adding the "longer cooking" veggies and watch the magic. We did get a few different meats, they were great but I am more impressed with the amount of veggies. If you're looking for a date night or something new to try, come over to this place. You'll love it!
I really enjoy how you get your own hot pot here so you don't have to worry about sharing. I was impressed by how fresh all the ingredients were and their presentation. The soup base was flavorful, had good depth and complimented the additions. The meats were of solid quality and we made sure to load up on them. We also tried their sushi which were also pretty solid. We had some issues with one of the cooking plates. Turns out, if the bottom of your pot is burnt, it won't work and needs to be replaced. That made one of our friends have to wait a really long time before he could eat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a poorly loud inside but spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They could probably use another server or two as it was hard to order more meats, drinks, etc. I still do recommend it especially with a large group.
We have made PK Shabu a holiday tradition and it provides for a fun way for our family to dine together. We visited in a Tuesday night and although moderately busy we were seated right away. Broth came out quickly and the food bar was well stocked and bountiful. We couldn't believe how many seafood options there were. Our initial meat order was takes quickly and we ordered a sushi roll. Initial service was quick but lacked a little with follow-up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was great and the ambiance was good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices are not cheap but you get so much. Would love to have a take home option for the leftovers.
This was an excellent restaurant! I've never been for hot pot in the United States before and this met my expectations. I loved how you could choose your broth and then go up to the buffet to get all of your toppings. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was so fun to go as a group and see what everyone decides to add.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will 100% come back here to try more of the broths and will bring friends!
Went here for a double date and it was great for picky eaters! Our server was very patient with us and explained how their restaurant works. We ordered appetizers (first mistake lol) and then order our broths. They gave us suggestions on what their best meats were so we got chicken, pork belly, and brisket. Then we went up to the bar and selected our veggies, seafood, sauces, and every fruits. We did get more than what we could handle as it was our first time. The cook time for the veggies did take a minute since some of them were cut thicker but the meats were thinly sliced and were amazing. Would love to come back and be more wise in my selection of what to get but their food and ingredients were very good!
Everything was so good and service was amazing. The seafood and vegetable and condiments bar were fully stocked! I was so full I didn't get a chance to try the stir fry station. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have long tables of 8 and each person gets their own individual pot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The sushi wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either. The egg tasted like the burnt coating of the stone bowl though. The corn cheese was sweet and delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We really enjoyed them having Hunter X Hunter on in the background![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's not on the menu but they also serve dessert. 1 dessert item per person and it's either a slice of cheesecake or chocolate cake or ice cream bar. The best part is how they will cut and shave the meat fresh to order instead of having it pre sliced and sitting out for awhile. I'm definitely coming back
Honestly a really fun night. This place is a steal! For around $40 you get unlimited appetizers, shabu shabu, broth, and access to the buffet of fresh veggies, noodles and starches, seafood, and sauces. There is even included dessert and fruit to finish. We had a lot of fun trying different things in the broth. I mixed the spicy and Tom yum broth which was lovely, we also tried a mix of spicy and curry. The best was the kimchi dumplings, the bok choy, and (I know, I'm as surprised as you are) the imitation crab meat. The biggest downside was the servers forgot a few things were ordered and then didn't come back for a long time. There was plenty to eat and we didn't pay extra for the items so it wasn't a huge deal but it did affect the meal. Overall would certainly recommend and return again. Be aware, they do have a fee if you waste too much food. They're very up front about it though so I feel that if you are that person, it's your own fault.
Overall, a solid AYCE hotpot spot in an area with not too much competition. For adults, the pricing is $35.99 per person and it includes hotpot, sushi, appetizers, stir fry, and yakitori. The space is large and clean, and the employees are constantly checking on and refilling the hotpot bar. Stopped in on a Saturday with a friend for dinner. While I was mainly there for the hotpot, I decided to give the pork belly and shrimp yakitori a try. The pork belly was tough but the flavor was good, and the shrimp was ok but definitely needed some flavor. I do enjoy the personal-sized hotpots and the broths are decent as well. I think it would be nice if they offered a "hotpot only" price for those that don't want the extras, but with only one or two other spots like this in the valley it's a solid option.
I came here years ago when I first opened in the quality of the food, was not the best, some of the meat had discoloration on the edging, which is due from oxidation from being exposed to air too long, so I'm assuming they have these meat sitting somewhere exposed open it made me stop wanting to put orders in for meat and it seems like after a few years, passing by the quality has even gotten worse most of the things displayed in regards to vegetables looked not the freshest as well some of the ingredients aren't really properly cut up so they were all very uneven weird sizes as well as the only seafood I tried, which was muscles. Every piece I had gotten had big pieces of either sand or rock or something, but it hurt my teeth at one point when I bit down into one they obviously don't clean their seafood, didn't smell fresh anyway it was so fishy in taste I ordered corn cheese and that was prob the worst tasting one I've had in my life why did the cheese in it taste rancid?? and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the tables are so small you really don't have room to put stuff anywhere around you as they have there items lined up like a deli type of bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], which is a bad idea because [[HIGHLIGHT]]the sauce bar area some of the things you can't really reach because of the windows that they have overhead of the items displayed, so you have to try to reach your arm all the way back while your face is smashing onto this piece of glass causing sauces to spill everywhere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and [[HIGHLIGHT]]they have napkins just right in front because they're used to it, which was pretty gross to see spilled sauce all over that and stuff they could've just easily re-organize this to make that not be a case[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

THE BEST AYCE!! Came in around 6pm on a Sunday and had to wait for about 15 before getting a table. Most tables are sized for four so I can see a larger party waiting for awhile. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive throughout our experience. I tried the "popular" House Spicy which had great flavor but wasn't spicy. If you want it spicier, I would recommend just adding your preferred spice from the buffet bar. There are great meat options on the menu with additional seafood options at the buffet bar. The buffet bar is easily four times larger with more options than typical hot pot places. It is also a nice touch that dessert is included. At the buffet bar there are endless brownies and every individual gets a slice of cake. Overall, if you are in the mood for AYCE Korean Barbecue or Hot pot this place is an absolute must! read more
Finally paid this spot another visit after my one and only time a while back. They now offer a large appetizer menu, a respectable light sushi menu, and added a grill station which intrigued me enough to come back. Everything is all included in the ayce deal. They also added a few new soup broth options. Overall, the star of show is still your hotpot, the abundance of veggies, seafood, thinly sliced meat, and condiments bar. Definitely skip on steamed egg. The cook/prep of it is too rushed and it came out smelling almost burnt. It's also huge. So unless you have at least 1-2 other people in your party interested, do not order. If one person were to order it, you're screwed. I highly you recommend it be skipped entirely. Same goes for both the wings and the takoyaki. The takoyaki is mushy, undercooked, and is not topped with the traditional takoyaki toppings such a mayo, takoyaki sauce, bonito flakes, seaweed, NADA. The wings were overcooked and fried plain then just dropped into a sauce filled bowl. Almost inedible. The squid legs were decent, but very oily and needs to be dipped in your preferred sauce or else it's just completely unseasoned. I did try their yakitori grilled skewers (pork belly and shrimp) which was decent. I'd get those again. Overall, I highly advise you stick to hotpot. My knock about the dining experience from last visit remains and is still an issue. We were a party of 2, sat down at a table that seats 4 individuals. And we were felt a little cramp. If a 3rd or 4th person was there, my dining experience would have been a much poorer one. read more
First off, I've been to a lot of Hot Pot/Shabu Shabu restaurants, and PK Shabu is ok. It's a huge restaurant and AYCE, including a few sushi rolls, which is a plus. If you want Nigiri Rolls, then that's an additional price. The vegetable selections were plentiful, a few selections for seafood, which included clams and different types of noodles. What I was looking for was fried tofu. They did, however, had soft tofu. I also wished there were garlic cloves. They do not offer Ying Yang broth pots. I chose the House Spicy. It was not spicy at all, and it lacked flavor. The broth at the end tasted better, obviously because of the meat and veges I added. I only ordered one type of meat, which was the pork belly. It was a long strip of pork. My suggestion is to cut them in half before serving to the customers. Lastly, the restroom smelt like sewer. Sigh... and they ran out of toilet tissue. Someone should check restrooms at the top of every hour. read more

Pretty good! I wish I was told how to do it a little better because I over cooked everything a bit. We sat for a while to get our check, but otherwise the food was very good, the variety was very good. read more
So fresh, so yummy, I got so full and very satisfied at the end. The first time I saw a hot pot place that had that many options to choose from for a fixed price. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. You select one of the individual soup bases, which is awesome. We were a party of 3, and we did 3 different soup bases. If you wanna order meat, you order from the server. The rest of everything (veggies, seafood, rice, noodles, sauce, etc. anything you can think about) you get from the all-you-can-eat buffet. The restaurant was clean, and the buffet was also clean. None of the food was in the wrong place, or not a dirty spot I had noticed during my visit. Once you get full and think that you cannot have anything else, they offer you a dessert; one for each person. You had me at all you can eat! The place itself is pretty big in terms of seating. We went during a Thursday evening and it wasn't packed but also had a decent amount of people. What I really enjoyed about this place is that you get your individual broth and get to control the heat settings. The variety of proteins and veggies is amazing! The ramen wall is also included in the AYCE price which was my fave! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because some my meat had too much fatty on it. I love the self serve veggies/seafood/noodles available. The only thing you need to order is your soup base & meats. Each person has an individual pot w most tables seating 4 people. There is also a ramen bar with lots of options. I wish the soup was more flavorful but you can always self flavor with the veggies (green onion, chives, tomatoes) & seafood (crab, crayfish, etc.) . I prefer the variety and ability to grab most items on your own here to the other hot pot opts in phx. Would def come back read more

All you can eat hot pot, have many great soup options and I love the buffet bar for everything other than the meat. I prefer Jin Shabu in terms of meat quality but the buffet here is definitely better in terms of variety. I got miso and spicy, both were great and add good flavor to whatever ingredients you choose. My favorite meat choice is pork belly and the premium beef brisket. read more
Ok Shabu is high in the food chain. Literally!! Thru have a long chain of buffet items running fort a mile. Anything you can add to a hot pot they have. They skip no effort. They keep nothing for themselves. Thru not only have seafood, fresh meats, and all kinds of vegetable toppings but lately they have added a ramen bar and a bar-bar. Now you can have beer and other selected items. The broth(s) are not overloaded with salt it too heavy. But they gain flavor as you add the toppings. You comer out of there with a full belly. Service is good. And prompt. And for the price you really can't beat that! read more

Great AYCE place for hotpot!! They have individual hot pots and it is buffet style for the ingredients! Meats you order through the server. The buffet stations have tons of variety for you to put in your hot pot. Each person chooses a broth flavor. The servers come to add in more broth throughout your meal. It's nice that it's a buffet to get a variety of items and you can walk it off to eat more!! Only thing is it is a bit pricey so come hungry and eat as much as you can!! read more

I compare this to Korean BBQ where you basically eat as much as you want. It's a better deal though, especially for a group. Both are about $35 per person but this place also includes an appetizer and sushi roll. Pretty generous. The selection of foods to add to your soup is great. Lots of variety and of course, very tasty and if you're health conscious, it's pretty easy to keep things OK for yourself. Definitely recommend, especially if you're in a group. The spicy broth was just OK. Not as flavorful as I would've liked. I'd try something else. read more

Omg this place is the BEST! I have recently become obsessed with Shabu and I'm so glad that this location reopened. I have never had to wait and they have a lot of tables. There is room for 4 people per table and you get your own pot. Prices are reasonable and you can refill your pot as many times as you want. My favorite broth is the spicy tonkatsu. They have plenty of spices and sauces that you can add to the broth to make it your way. There are plenty of vegetables to choose from and they also have seafood options and various meats as well. They have a variety of noodles and rice to add to your soup. (you can make several trips to and from the buffet line) Ordering is simple and the menu is easy to read. The employees are all very friendly and they are walking around picking up dishes and assisting. Definitely give this place a try! YUM! I've been doing hot pot at home for a couple years because the other places around here used to charge so much per plate. Now this is AYCE and it's very worth it! I have been here a few times now. You can choose from different broths. We ordered the house and spicy broth which were both yummy and flavorful. The meats are thinly sliced to order and are great quality. My personal favorite is the pork belly. Once it's cooked it basically melts in your mouth. There is also an amazing assortment of fresh veggies, noodles and seafoods served buffet style to choose from. I love that they have a sauce bar to make your own dipping sauce for the meats and veggies. I recommend the sesame sauce with a little spicy in it. It's creamy and a little sweet and adds a good richness to the meats and veggies. On top of the food quality, the service is also great! The servers are very attentive and resupply your meats and soups as soon as you ask. This is a great place to bring families or friend groups because every pot is individual so you don't have to stick to someone else's taste. It definitely satisfied my craving for hot soup and was perfect for the chilly cloudy day we came on. I can't wait to come back and get all my favorites! read more
An amazing hot pot / Shabu shabu location in Mesa near the AZ International Marketplace in the Asian District. Broadway and Dobson are the cross-streets. You pay a flat price (it is now $35 with their recent price increase) and choose the type of broth you'd like...and the rest is history! Meaning, you can select from various meats and a buffet of veggies, fish, protein options, etc. I have been to PK Shabu twice now, and both times tried different broth. So far, the PK House broth is my favorite - at least for the ingredients I like to include. The broth doesn't have a ton of flavor until you add the ingredients, which is nice because it becomes "customized" to your taste. When making my way down the buffet line adding ingredients to my plate, I have yet to see a single thing look like it isn't fresh. Staff is very accommodating and will come by and ask if you'd like more meat or drinks if they see your platter looking a little empty. They are friendly with any questions you may have about broth, meats, and other queries. I noticed a few other reviews mention that there is an odd smell in the restaurant, but I did not notice it. It just smelled like food to me, however I haven't entered their bathroom. The restaurant is clean and staff is often around the buffet area in case there is a mess or the trays need to be refilled. read more
It's soup season and shabu is perfect for this! The waiter explained the "rules" at the table-if you come as a group, one person can't just get the AYCE, it would have to be everyone. The other option is you can get a one time trip for half the price. Our table chose the one time trip. Also note that doesn't include the seafood items. It's set up a cafeteria type vibe where you get your plate and pick what you want. When you get to the seafood area there's a person is watching to make sure you don't get these items and guides you to the sauce area. I got the miso broth while everyone else got the spicy broth. Both were delicious! I stacked my plate too high and could barely finish it. The staff doesn't tell you how to work the temperature of the pots but if you want it on high, make sure it's on P-5 or F-5. I'd come back again! I like the one plate deal vs the AYCE. Finally!! I've been waiting for PK Shabu to reopen months, and here they are. And I'm super satisfied with their food and everything. First of all, the place itself is super clean and huge. This is a huge plus! And I was surprised how they have so many choices for veggies, seafood, noodles, sauce, and many more. At first, I thought their regular AYCE shabu price was kinda pricey, but after seeing how many different and fresh ingredients I could have, I felt like their price is completely reasonable. And they are doing 30% off of shabu meal until November 3rd (not sure about the exact date..), so it's a good deal. They had lotus roots, kimchi, crabs, yakult, and some really cool ingredients you won't really get to see at a AYCE shabu restaurant, and they were all fresh. Yum ;) and their sauce is the bomb. Individual hot pot was really cool, as well. Would definitely come back here read more

So yummy! I don't always crave hot pot, but this is definitely gonna be a new go-to for us. Their pricing is decent and their selections were delicious and amazing. I was pleasantly surprised that they've included some sushi rolls to their AYCE menu, which is fantastic. My favorite roll is the Kota Roll especially since there's fresh lemon slices on top, which is personally my favorite sushi roll topping. Their meat selection in the AYCE menu wasn't very expensive, but it includes all the typical beef & pork go-to's. I loved their veggie selections and the fact that they had a lot of seafood options, so that was a plus. I'm so bummed that we forgot to try the desserts they had as well. There were only a few selections but it was still nice that it was included. This place is a must-try! read more

Everything in my previous review still applies - food is great. Sometimes their food choices rotate and they do/don't offer certain items. The biggest update is the sewage smell that used to be concentrated in the bathroom is now filling the entire restaurant. I almost lost my appetite as soon as I walked in. Please get that fixed! I don't want to smell sewage while I eat. read more

I was really impressed with my meal here! We came in on a Saturday night with a party of 5 and only waited for about 15 minutes for a table. Once seated we chose our soup base. I chose Tom Yum! We then ordered our meats. After, we picked all of our veggies, seafood and our sauces! Each person is able to get one roll of sushi too. The variety at this restaurant is outstanding. For around 30 bucks a person, it's a steal! I left so incredibly full and satisfied! read more

Sure, the largest table seats 8. The tables can not be moved. So you might want to ask for three 4 seat tables, unless you are ok squeezing two extra chairs into the 8 seat table then some folks will have to share a pot. Very doable!…
