Really good! Very fresh fish. Great variety of toppings. Good, competitive pricing and larger portions than most poke places. The Hawaiian styles of fish have a nice, (sorta spicy) sauce. I do wish they had octopus and yellowtail. Ask for extra sauce on the side if you don't like your rice dry. I wish I had gotten the name of the guy that helped us Saturday night. It was our first time stopping in, so he gave us samples of the different fish. He also made suggestions about toppings and got me hooked on hot cheetos as a topping. This one is tough. Seriously, when is yelp gonna have half stars?! I'd give this 3 and a half if I could. This place is great, but the portions are remarkably small. I've been on a huge Poke kick and have been going to places all over and this is the first time I've not been full or even not being able to finish my bowl. I always get two scoops of crab and here they charge a dollar for an extra scoop. I've seen that other places and don't mind, but these were like teaspoons. Also it was absolutely delicious, which made it ever more so frustrating. I wanted 5 more scoops of it. I have to say the ingredients are great here. The seaweed salad was the best I've tasted at a poke place and the avacado mash was one of those perfectly ripe avocados that remind you that you really do love avocado and how maybe you should have chips and guacamole for dinner They had choices of marinated Hawaiian style fishes. I got the tuna and it was great. Their spicy house ponzu sauce was also really tasty. They had a fairly good amount of toppings. Some interesting things like hot cheetos. But like I said, really stingy. They even skimped on the lettuce. It's nestled right next to a dollar tree and grocery outlet discount market, so you'd think they'd have something more filling and affordable. I was hungry an hour and a half after I finished it. This poke place is definitely a safe spot where you can grab a variety of fishes and other toppings as well. However, this is only just a SAFE poke place. There was not really a wow factor to this restaurant as most other poke places are as generic as this. I greatly appreciate the atmosphere and lower glasses for customers and employees to converse and relay their orders. Since this is a close poke spot to CSULB, I believe that students should definitely come here for a budgetary poke shop as you most likely cannot go wrong with an order here. Yet another poke shop opened up in Long Beach. I'm sorta getting tired of eating poke... Anyways, came here with a coworker for lunch. $10.99 for a large bowl, which comes with 5 scoops of meat. I was a little annoyed bc the lady mixed up the sauces--she poured my selected sauces into my coworker's bowl and my coworker's into my bowl. When I pointed out her mistake, she simply added the sauces I chose into my already sauce-filled bowl, drenching it... I didn't want to make a fuss, but an apology would've been nice. Let me start off by stating that this review is on their food alone. I have been enjoying poki for a long time. This place sucks. Fish: Quality is ok at best . Toppings: super small potions. Like another review said " laughable" especially for the price for the bowls. Their salad is ice burg lettuce, doesn't pair so well with the poki. Worst thing about this place is the portion size compared to price. This place gives you about 40% by comparison to other poki places. Price per bowl is about average although the bowls are noticeably undersized and lacking. If your looking for a new poki place to try. Yesterday I decided to try this spot out and I was impressed by the freshness and the wide variety of delicious toppings to choose from. I got the regular sized bowl with brown rice as my base, the Hawaiian Ahi, Hawaiian Salmon, Hawaiian Squid as my protein, and seaweed, edamame, avocado, green onions, fried onions, the Kai sauce, and Spicy Mayo as my toppings. Poke Kai serves your usual "assembly-type" poke bowls; you pick a bowl size (small gets 3 scoops of fish, large gets 5), a base (white/brown rice, chips, salad), choice of fish (includes tuna, salmon, yellowtail, octopus), sauce (includes ponzu, spicy mayo, spicy ponzu), and choice of toppings (avocado, seaweed salad, masago, imitation crab, wasabi, garlic, furikake). I usually get the large bowl (around $10) which fills me up really well and makes me happy! Also service is nice and friendly as well. First time there today and I was a little disappointed. Walked in around 1pm and surprisingly there was nobody there. I was expecting more people since it was lunch time. The girls working there were nice. I usually get salad as my base, but they gave me such a small amount. Much smaller than other places I've been too. The regular size comes with 3 scoops of protein. They have good options, but again the portions they give are so tiny. They do have a lot of toppings to choose from and everything was fresh. I enjoyed my bowl, but I really feel like I did not get what I paid for. For $8.99, I think they can be a little more generous. I was going to give three stars for cleanliness, freshness, and they have good options for toppings. Since I can't give half stars, I'll give another star since there is no extra charge for avocado. Overall this place is OK. But I probably won't go back. read more

As I write this, it has been almost 20 hours since my husband ate a large poke bowl with white rice, 2 scoops of yellow tail, 2 scoops of salmon, and 1 scoop of albacore. He has been sick with food poisoning ever since. He has been on the pot at least a dozen times with watery, explosive you-know-what. Myself and my kids ate Flame Broiler instead of Poke Kai and thank god we did. The service was pleasant and quick by two young women working the counter. Service aside, nothing else has been pleasant about this new establishment. I am sorry to say we will never ever go back. Great concept. Being a bar, you can put your dream bowl together. Choose from brown or white rice, salad, chips, or have the best of two worlds with a half-half, add your favorite poke (sliced or cut seafood) topping: sushi quality fresh ahi, salmon, tako (octopus),shrimp, even tofu, etc. -- , then select your poison, er, sauce, and finish with a flourish with the toppings (i.e,, a scoop of avocado, crab meat, cucumber, the works, plus "ground Cheetos". Strange but true). If you do not like the seafood sushi style, they will gladly cook them for you (I did). Mmmm, mmm so good. I can indulge without guilt. Guess what else? Spam musubi, too. My daughter and I feel disappointed going back the second time here. Its still fresh and delicious, no question. But we got tiny exact scoops of fish, way less than what we got the last time. They gave us lots of rice, but not in a reasonable proportion to the fish. And if you want an extra scoop of fish? It will cost you $2.50 more! If they could take this humble tip: people (like us who love poke) will find an equally good poke place sooner or later, but this other place will have bigger portions. They may never come back to you and opt to eat at that place because people (like us) always prefer one where they could get a better value for their money. Tonight was my first time here. I always come to this plaza to get my nails done and this time I noticed the poke spot opened. I got a regular size bowl with Hawaiian salmon, Hawaiian tuna, and salmon with brown rice. For sauce I got ponzu and their house sauce along with a side of spicy mayo (which I'm really glad I got because I ended up mixing it in, it was too dry for my liking without it). As for toppings I got seaweed salad, cucumber, avocado, and furikake. Everything tasted great and fresh. The only con is that their portions are not as big for the price, hence 4 stars. But I would definitely come again, it's close to where I work so this is for sure going to be one of my new lunch spots. Came in on a Friday evening around 6, there were only 3 other customers in. Just witnessed an employee here touch the pos system with her gloves and proceed to make food without washing her hands or changing her gloves and rolled her eyes when I asked her to. The pos they use flips over so guests can sign so how many people have touched it since the last time they've cleaned it. I've been in food handling for years and it's basic knowledge, especially during a pandemic this needs to be enforced. It's only 5 minutes away from home, which is convenient. :) You get to customize and create your own Poke bowl with the proteins, sauces, and the toppings they have. You could see by the display they have a great amount of options and everything is fresh. Their customer service is great too, so don't be afraid to ask them any questions about their protein, what their Hawaiian style is marinaded in, and also questions about their sauces! I asked an abundance of questions and they were very patient with me. And if you're craving something sweet, they have milk teas and slushes. They have many different flavors, and they also have my favorite, Thai Tea. Another cool thing is, you could adjust the sweetness of any choice of milk tea. I thought this poke restaurant was really below average. Everything about it was just "eh". I've been to many poke bowls places and this is probably the worst I've been to. First, the lettuce was kind of old looking- with a brown hue on some leaves. Additionally, the protein serving sizes are just so much smaller than other spots. The fish was kind of room temp which was off putting. For my toppings, the seaweed salad was good (kind of hard to screw up though). I also asked for avocado and got a literal single slice. Kinda odd. Lastly, the price. This is a standard price for a regular poke bowl ($10.50) at other places, but for the quality at Poke Kadi, it felt way over priced... So happy to have a fresh, delicious concept right around the corner. I ordered the 3 scoop protein bowl and had the marinated tuna, albacore and salmon. All were scrumptious!
