This is place is bomb! It's a bit tiny inside with limited seating but the food makes up for it!! The regular bowl is surprisingly filling. When this place first opened, I was there once a week. But recently, the quality is going downhill. Maybe they discovered they were spending too much per bowl, I don't know. I thought I would give them one more chance today. I can't put my finger on it but something is lacking that was there before. I don't want to go home and start adding my own ingredients (but I am). It might be that the fish isn't as fresh. Its definitely the sauce - I want enough sauce that it leaks down into my rice. The one thing I can say is that the rice was not properly cooked today. This was so good. I'm literally craving it every day. I love all of the various options and toppings. I've had the white rice, brown rice and mixed greens, and then I've always chosen salmon and yellowtail. The fish is fresh and not oversauced. I ordered an extra side of white rice for my kids and was given it at no charge! This place has always been packed, I've been at lunch and dinner, but the wait has never been long. I was a little intimidated trying to figure out what to put in my bowl but all of the staff there was incredibly patient and helpful. They allow you to try out different sauces if you're unsure and make really great recommendations to those who are weary of what would make good combinations. Excellent price, taste, and service. They load those bowls up big time and have plenty of options. Staff is knowledgeable, can make recommendations and get your food put together very quickly. I wish I had known about Poke King longer than a year ago because it is that good. They certainly beat any other poke business I have tried here in Northern Nevada and around the Bay Area. Local Hawai'i girl here, ALOOOOHA and an extra big MAHALO to Poke King!! My gosh this place is a God-send (might have spelled that wrong) and I'm so grateful for their outstanding work! The employees are incredibly kind and hard working and the food is wonderful. Safe to say fish is frozen, it's Reno, the ocean's a few miles away, but it's maintained perfectly! I saw another review that said the bowls were "just there, nothing special". I would like to remind people that REAL Poke bowls aren't anything special, they're actually meant to be simple dishes. And Poke King does have a few extra toppings that are more for variety's sake, but the toppings are delicious and incorporate perfectly with the Island/Asian flavor of poke bowls. Lastly, the employees may not start a conversation with you right away, they do need to work fast, but I guarantee that if you ask them how their day is going they will be glad to give you a smile and maybe a little extra seaweed topping. I've been at school for a year and I'm so excited to get a taste of home when I visit Reno this week!! Keep up the good work Poke King, you guys are awesome! read more
