Mexican Chocolate and Mango
Amber G.

Powder is a small shop with tons of shaved ice cream flavor and topping options. Note that there isn't really indoor seating and some limited outdoor seating so you'll likely be taking this to go! We got mango and Mexican chocolate and both were tasty, but for me both (especially the Mexican chocolate) were too sweet which made the flavor tiring to get through. I think if I went back I'd try a fruit flavor instead. I think it's worth another try and I may go back sometime to try a different flavor.

SP: Cereal Killer

A very accurately named store! Can't go wrong with shaved ice for dessert, no matter the weather. They have so many flavor options that literally cover an entire wall, with a plethora of toppings too! All of their flavors sounded good, and I wish I could sample all of them. I ended up going with the Valencia in a regular size so I could avoid decision anxiety; this was a preset bowl of horchata shaved ice with different toppings that was exactly what I was craving. My friend got the other preset option, Cereal Killer, which tasted just like fruity pebbles ice cream as promised. It looks like a lot when first presented to you (like so high and so fluffy), but as you eat it, the toppings start making the ice sink lol. A more manageable portion size after that :) Their shop is small with not much waiting room besides a bench against the window, and I think most people go to their outside tables to eat their shaved ice. Not super ideal for cold windy evenings like when we went, and we huddled in my car to finish them. Definitely mind any shaved ice that might topple over the edge when you first dive in since they pack it real tight. Worth your moola! I will absolutely come back to try other flavors and still order a regular just for myself :)

I came across powder on a TikTok video, and I'm so happy that I did. This is a very small store with the only seating being the ledge of the window and outdoor seatings. We got a large with Thai tea and guava, with strawberry, condense milk, and mochi for $13. The portion was huge, which is great but it was so messy to eat. We wouldn't finish it with two people. This portion can probably feed 3-4. Hopefully they come out with larger bowls that can hold the amount of snow there is. Both flavors were great, but I personally like the guava a lot more. I also like the texture a lot, as you can chew it or let it melt in your mouth. Will definitely be back when I'm in town!

Pina Colada (V) and Guava

Came by on a Wednesday and this little hole-in-the-wall shop is so adorable. There's a small bench inside for seating but otherwise there are also a few tables out front! I got the pina colada flavor with passionfruit drizzle and my friend got the guava with sprinkles. We both got kid sizes which costs $6 and the toppings are either $0.75 or $1.25 depending on which one you get. The pina colada flavor was not too sweet, and refreshing. The texture of the shaved ice is amazing. It's so fluffy, smooth, and completely melts in your mouth with ease. No ice crystals are anything! Probably one of the best shaved ice textures I've tried thus far! The passionfruit drizzle had a nice tartness though I am not sure it was worth the $1.25 and it was a bit too tart to pair with the pina colada in my opinion. I tried some of my friend's guava and it was superb as well. More dairy flavor since it wasn't a vegan flavor like the pina colada so it was a bit more rich which is nice. I like that there are non-dairy options and would love to come back and try the other flavors!

Stopped by on a Saturday evening and it wasn't busy. I got a regular size of the Cereal Killer which was cereal snow topped with sweet milk glaze and fruity pebbles. I loved this so much, it had such a fantastic texture of being creamy but also light and fluffy. Probably one of the best shaved snow texture I've had. Tried some of the matcha snow and earl grey snow as well, and both of them were solid too. My favorite was still the cereal snow because I have more of a sweet tooth and the matcha and earl grey were less sweet. I would absolutely return to try more snow flavors! Service was really friendly and our 3 bowls were ready within a few minutes. Only one small bench inside and some outdoor seating.

Powder is always delicious, no matter the time or weather! Once we discovered this place I think we come multiple times a week! The texture of the snow is so soft & all of their flavors are amazing - none of them taste artificial. Their cereal killer special is the best! Service is always quick. The only downside is that their only real seating area is a few tables outside

I've been wanting to try Powder for a while now and finally got the chance when I was craving something sweet after dinner. We stopped by and got a large shaved ice to share - with the large you can opt for 2 flavors for $1 more. We chose the Black Sesame and Mexican Chocolate with fresh strawberries and mochi as toppings. This really hit the spot! The flavors were deliciously and really punchy. The Black Sesame was nice and nutty and the Mexican Chocolate had a nice spice to it with cinnamon. The shaved ice itself is creamy and rich without feeling heavy and the fresh toppings really made it a great sweet treat and doesn't feel quite as indulgent as the standard ice cream. Will definitely be back to try the other flavors!

eeek think new favorite dessert spot in the area!! the shaved ice feels so light and fluffy. doesn't make me feel "sick" or "gross" after eating sweets, haha. love the toppings and flavors!

My husband and I tried out Powder. There is a wide variety of flavor and toppings . The ube and black sesame had good flavor. The texture of the ice was nice. Definitely want to try the other flavors. Wish there was more seating.

I enjoyed trying shaved snow for the first time - light and velvety, perfect for a warm San Francisco afternoon. The ube flavor was nice and strong. The kids cup I ordered was $6. I interested in trying some of their combinations next time, which come with pre-selected flavors and toppings. Service is quick. Seating is limited to a few seats indoors and some outdoor seating. Parking in the area is tough to find.

Super mall store but service is quick! There's 3 sizes, and the kids size alone was enough for me. The guava was refreshing and I would come back to try the passion fruit! There's topping you can add on for a little extra, I would recommend mochis. Check this place out after shopping around Haight!

Good dessert, the only thing that was not good was the service. We were not greeted or even asked what we would like to order. The employee just stared at us until we began to order. Other than that I will say it is delicious!

Thai tea and horchata ice with sweet milk glaze topping

The perfect refreshing sweet treat for a sunny SF summer day. Interesting cross between a shave ice and an ice cream - the Thai tea and horchata combo was delicious!

You can order either from a person at the cash register or at the self-serve kiosk, depending which is first available. My friend ordered at the cash register, and I ordered at the kiosk. She got #45 despite ordering first, and I got #32. I find it so disorienting that the systems don't sync, so the numbers are called out of sequence. After ordering, we found some space to sit on the long communal bench inside. We heard several high and low numbers called, but they were rather unintelligible, and we really had to strain to hear correctly. Finally, my friend's number was called, and a bit later my name instead of number was called. I had ordered both a snack crêpe and a fruit tea, but only the crêpe was ready. I had to go back for the tea later. Maybe I've been too spoiled by crêpes in North Beach and boba in Sunset, but the crêpe I got here was so dry and stiff, it legit tasted like and had the texture of cardboard, and the passionfruit tea had zero passionfruit flavor. The strawberry ice cream and kiwi slices in my crêpe tasted good, but that's the bare minimum and can't really mess those up. Judging by just the crêpe shell and fruit tea, I'd give this place a 1/5. The reasonably ripe kiwi and sweet strawberry ice cream were the only saving grace. My friend said it best, "You get what you pay for." Prices are affordable here, but the quality is super mid.

Such a hidden gem in SF! I've been to many boba places and this one stands out. They have a wide…read morerange of drinks but my favorite is definitely between their taro and oreo milk tea with boba. Their taro milk teas is really sweet so I'd definitely do 30% sweetness or even sweet free. However, their Oreo and Black Milk Tea is perfect at 50%. I also had their Black Tea Creama before and it's really pleasant with the cream top as it balances out the bitterness of the tea. Their prices are one the best in SF as it's relatively affordable between $5-$6. Many boba places tend to sell their simpler drinks at the upper $6 to $7 price point, yet this place is cheaper and better quality. The taro milk tea is creamy and strong in flavor, while the Oreo milk tea has a good amount of Oreo with a balanced mix of milk and tea. The place is relatively small with barely any room for sitting down unless you happen to come at a less busy time. The staff are nice, though my only gripe is they tend to take a long time making drinks and even longer if you order food. I had the opportunity to try their curly fries and fried squid. They were delicious but wait time was ~30 minutes despite being the only customer there. If you can, order ahead of time for pickup so you can avoid waiting. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend this over nearby boba shops around Clement, this is a standout!

Although there are some good bars in Russian Hill there is also a place to grab a non alcoholic beverage such as Matcha and Boba. Its a good refreshing drink to have on a Winter with sun. They serve sweet and the sour in SF. I had to try the Matcha Royale- Strawberry with a splash of mango. The drink was colorful with bright red strawberry and Matcha green. It was not too sweet and the strawberry was a bit sweet and the splash of mango made it tasty. The ceremonial matcha was smooth and just right for Don Juan de la Matcha. I came in at 3:00 PM today (Saturday). There was only one other customer in the shop ordering a crepe and no visible to-go orders. I ordered a single fruit tea, expecting it to be a quick stop. After waiting over 20 minutes, I finally approached the counter to check on it, only to find the staff had completely forgotten the order. While they apologized and asked me to wait another 5 minutes to make the drink, the delay was entirely avoidable given how quiet the shop was. Beyond the wait, there were some noticeable operational and professional issues: - Staff Dynamics: There were two employees working. The male staff member spent most of the time in the back and occasionally popping out to direct the female staff member to make crepes and handle tasks before retreating to the kitchen area. I had to explicitly prompt him about my missing order before he stepped in to make the drink. - Workplace Professionalism: When checking on the delay, I noticed opened containers of alcohol in the kitchen area. An occasional forgotten order happens, but the combination of a 20-minute wait in an empty shop and a lack of professionalism behind the counter was highly frustrating. I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to review their staffing practices and service standards.
