I was skeptical at first with the sandwiches on cold display - but after it was heated up, I was transported to my days in Italy. AMAZING sandwiches - though on the pricy side, one can certainly can be shared amongst 2 people. Drinks themselves were nothing special- but my very friendly staff member running the show was great. I was grateful they opened early enough for a savory breakfast, and they certainly have a good number of seating. Counting the days to go back and try more.

Go here! The food and coffee will take you to Tuscany, or as close as you can be without being in Italy. Legit espresso, and food. I will be back to try the baked goods. They even sell prosciutto by the slice to take home. The service was also very friendly. I accidentally dropped my food and they graciously redid my food.

(Tookout 12/31/21 FR @ 2:30pm): The Italian city of Prato representing the Tuscany region and its baked goods in Jersey City! On Day 12 of my vacation as I visited a very dear friend for the Christmas and New Year holidays, we spent an afternoon at Departed Soles Brewing Co. when I craved for something to eat, and the only close quick option was Prato Bakery. The brewery had no snacks whatsoever, and the pickings were slim on this block with the exception of Prato Bakery which was next door in the same business complex. I was all good with Italian pastries, but would this pair well and absorb some of the alcohol that was being consumed!? PURCHASE Potatoes & Rosemary Focaccia ($3.95): Truth be told, this was the first thing I saw upon entering and was sold. I've made a similar dish at home both baked and in a skillet sans focaccia. This pizza of sorts was hearty piled with sizable potato slices that nearly covered the entire bread along with a light sprinkling of rosemary and plenty of olive oil. The bread had decent thickness, some airiness, and a light crunch around the edges. This treat served its purpose, but I sorely wished it was warm because it definitely would have tasted so much better https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=si1iPeNuK26e-ji9orm9oQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. SERVICE I was basically on a drive-by mission, and I had a sneaking feeling that the staff was preparing to close soon (they were), so I got a young male's attention and pointed out exactly what I wanted. At this point, I should've asked if they could warm it up but didn't want to give him more work since it was New Years Eve after all. I was in and out in less than five minutes with little to no pleasantries - no worries. PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) We took the light rail to the Harsimus Cove stop and walked about 10 minutes to the burgeoning arts district. They didn't have an onsite lot. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots along the main drag of Bay St. and surrounding side streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A long open layout with the main focus the extended counter and display cases https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=U9VlW91K5Sm9XU_abBoIzg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw while an assortment of chairs/tables and cushier furniture was spread out from one end of the store to the other. Plenty of natural lighting came through all the glass walls that ran the length of the business while standard electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I couldn't recall any TVs or background music. I literally made my way only to a small corner of the place. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GzbTGNuf4rqC35l4r4qx9A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Temperatures were in the 40s, so I was bundled-up from head-to-toe. Otherwise, this place was totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Prato Bakery served its immediate purpose and would like to explore them further next time I visited, although I would be more inclined to try some actual Italian pastries if they had those. Otherwise, it had more of a coffee shop feel than a bakery. My food was good, the price seemed comparable, it seemed like they had many other goodies to try, and the service was what it was. And, it was always a pleasure to support small local mom & pop businesses like this one. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $4.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, although I used my Mastercard because the brewery held onto my primary method of payment, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

My wife and I have been to Prato Bakery several times. Our go-to order is a large latte/ iced-coffee and cortado with any of their pan brioche sandwiches or an item from their confectionery. We have never been disappointed ! I am very impressed with their consistency. The coffees were brewed to perfection each time and the slices are always great. I usually request for hot slices but that's just my preference. My favorite so far has been their Eggplant Caprese with a drizzle of Balsamic Vinaigrette. I also liked Nutella's Focaccine Super friendly staff, delicious coffee and comforting food makes for a great start to our weekends ;)

Nice idea to keep the kids occupied!

Stylish spot, well thought out, clean, terrific espresso, served properly. The baked goods are excellent. Parking can be a dogs dinner, but if I lived within walking distance this would be my canteen!

Friendly staff and delicious food. Great place for a quick lunch or dinner! Came here end of last week for a slice and an espresso and I was thoroughly impressed. This was my second time getting pizza from here. The bread is DELICIOUS and the portions are perfect. The espresso was really good too. Got myself a double. Great little neighborhood gem to check out

I've been to this location multiple times and there's a reason I keep coming back. The staff are highly professional, the bakery is very clean and spacious, and the food and coffee are amazing. This place is my go-to and I always get my coffee from here. I've been to all the local cafes in the area and I can say with confidence that I love the coffee from here the most. Highly recommend

25 minutes from when my credit card was charge to when the sandwich is actually being prepared. If you're in a hurry, do not come here.

I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. I only tiny, minuscule complaint I have about this place is the lack of signage for the pastries and cakes. It would be nice to know what I'm looking at without having the ask. Absolutely zero gatekeeping here. Please everyone keep patronizing this establishment. I need this place to continue to exist in my hood.

So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. I'll continue to stick with the cakes and croissants for desert and make sure it's fresh!

Surely I'd incur the wrath of Twitter culture war jackasses for twice DoorDashing this spot; "ehh anyone can make an egg sandwich at home." I'm sure those fools don't have access to bacon like this. I enjoyed the salted fudge brownie too. The most surprising item I got was the orange cinnamon cold brew. The idea seemed delightfully taboo; for better or worse the citrus angle was relatively subtle, it wasn't like "hey you dropped your Tropicana in my iced grande Americano." Orders were quick and well-packaged.

But this time I got the Taylor ham egg and cheese and potato sandwich with hot sauce . It was great. Came out quick it's hot and was everything you wanted from a Taylor ham, over easy egg and cheese, and they add the smashed potatoes that are just smashed not mashed that add some crispness cuz they're a little crispy and they also give it a little more texture and bite. Really enjoyable. I did not know the sandwiches were this good. Get it with the hot sauce, its not too spicy, made in house. Closer to a siracha without fish sauce if that makes any sense. I will have to go back and try some more breakfast items I was unaware they were this good. Despite the price of $10 for a sandwich It was actually worth it.
