The pizza is still really good. We've been ordering takeout pies here for quite a while. Both my teen sons agree that it's eons above Pizza Hut or Dominos (most chain pizza is cheap but it's sucks- sorry). This is real pizza - a great slice. I usually order two large plain cheese pies and they're about $15 each. You want good pizza - you pay. It's authentic and tasty. They're okay as far as customer service- not overly friendly but never rude so that's not a problem for me. I've yet to dine in but I plan to do so soon. We have been ordering from this place for years. They just put up a sign for lunch specials but failed to mention that its for dine in customers only. My co-worker who is 7 months pregnant was unable to get her food because they would not accommodate us. When I called Prestos I spoke with "Juan Rodriguez" who claimed to be the manager and told him that our lunch time is not long enough to dine in. I offered to pick it up because we work across the street. He was extremely rude. As a manager myself I would never speak to a customer in this tone. I order a Margherita pizza from Prestos pizza last night, it was really busy to I was told that it would take a while got to get my pizza. I got to Prestos about 45 minutes after I made my order. I asked about my pie and was told it would be a little longer. 30 minutes later they said my pie was ready but I ordered pepperoni on the whole pie and they just had it in half. OK, so at this point instead of asking me if I would take the half pepperoni Margherita pizza. They instead took a regular pie, put mozzarella and sauce on top of it, and added pepperoni on top. to make it look like a Margherita pizza. I did notice it until I got home, but I immediately went back to get an explanation of how this could have happened. As soon as I got to the pizza parlor, they knew why I was back, they tried to say it was a mistake, but how do you try to change a regular pie into a Margherita pizza a mistake. Not like I received the wrong order, they were trying to deceive me, because they were busy and I was hungry. The thought they could push off any old crap to me to get me out of the store. read more

Ate dinner here Saturday. The only positive thing I can honestly say is the young waitress was a very sweet girl. The place was empty except for one other customer. My husband and I both ordered 2 different Chicken dishes both were terrible. The chicken in my Marsala had a tough weird texture and in no way tasted freshly cooked. The Marsala sauce was definitely a can of brown gravy. My husband had chicken stuffed with spinach and ricotta, the chicken was pink, hard as a rock and sour tasting. Called the place, Indian guy answers, I asked for lemon pepper chicken, sautéed broccoli rabe in garlic & a bottle of water. The guy repeats sautéed garlic & 8 bottles of water. Outcome- I get a piece of plain chicken w all about 50 packets of pepper & a lemon. I'd hate to be this guys wife sending him to the store for something. Lol. Won't order from here again. OK...reading these reviews I really have to assume that no one is actually Italian or has ever been to an Italian restaurant before? So I've been here in the past...at least a year ago. And I used to come here regularly with my mother. But... I've heard management has changed, or the chefs have changed and... it was pretty damn gross when we went the other day. Service is friendly... although very rough around the edges. I felt like the server should be working at a Jersey diner instead of an Italian restaurant. Instead of walking up to our table, she would just shout from the kitchen asking if we needed anything else, etc. Happened on multiple occasions...even with other patrons there. The bread first offered has totally changed. It used to be one of the best parts of the meal. Now it's just tasteless bread...I wouldn't even call it Italian bread. OMG...and the olive oil bottles!!!! I almost gagged when I saw how gross and disgusting the olive oil bottle was on our table. It was so grimy and sticky that it made the oil inside look cloudy. I quickly got up and attempted switching the bottle at an empty table. 3 tables and they were all too disgusting to touch. UGH. Does no one wipe these bottles down??? At least once a week people! We ordered the fresh mozz & tomato stack. It was served with arugula and a balsamic glaze. Nothing spectacular. There wasn't enough glaze/dressing to make the arugula less bitter. Sadly this was the best part of the meal. I ordered the meat ravioli since I remember awhile ago I was told they use Vitamia ravioli. The ravioli came out and it honestly wasn't horrible. But it was drowning in melted mozz. No where on the menu did it say it came with mozz. But oh well. Sauce wasn't great, slightly acidic. But I ate the whole thing. Then there's my best friends meal.... I felt horrible for dragging her here. She had the stuffed shells and when her meal came out, we both immediatley noticed that some of the shells were browned, as if they were burnt. We both assumed they were slightly browned when they were baked. Then she noticed the ricotta cheese inside was rubbery and also parts of it were also browned. Ugh. She left 2 shells on the plate but we didn't say anything. When the server picked up the food to clear the table I could see her looking at the shells left over. Before she even made it back to the kitchen we heard her yelling at the cooks about how they are NOT supposed to microwave the food and they obviously did b/c the shells looked disgusting. Yes... SHE said the shells looked disgusting. However...no one ever came to our table to ask if WE thought the shells were disgusting....we would have said yes. It was just very strange that she was loudly telling the cooks that they f'ed up the food but still allowed us to continue on our way. There was a slight dispute with the bill too...but whatever. I was just done by then and didn't feel like dealing. I'm still willing to try the pizza. How bad can you f up pizza???? I'm kinda scared to find out though..... read more

wow, I'm the first one to review this place :) I lived around this area for a few years and never stepped foot into it until Friday. I wanted some pizza but didn't want to wait for the line at Brooklyn Oven Pizza on Hackensack Avenue. I'm so glad I came into this place. The waitstaff are extremely friendly and the ambiance is very comfortable. Not only did they have pizza, but an array of pasta & meat entrees. You can definitely make this spot a sit down dinner. Unfortunately I did not get to try any of the entrees but strictly had to try the pizza out the first time. I was definitely impressed by the flavor of the margherita pizza ($16.75). I needed some meat so I added sliced meatballs (extra $3.00 for toppings) to it and it made it even better! As far as the service, it was a bit slow...maybe because it was a Friday night but I heard the manager on the phone comping a customer for his next order because he's been waiting on his delivery. I will return for a second visit and try one of their entrees. Only concern is that its a bit expensive for the area but great place, good location and friendly environment! read more

This is the only place in the Hackensack and Maywood area that never disappoints when ordering. Delivery always stays within 30 minutes or less and the food always comes as it should. However, we decided to visit our favorite pizza spot last night and wow! First off, we came in and were greeted by the owner who proved to be nothing less than sweet and attentive. We were immediately seated (party of 10) and attended to with a great bruschetta and the softest garlic knots. We then ordered two cheese pies, a margherita, and a Brooklyn Best (broccoli rabe and sausage). It was evident that the kids loved the cheese pie since they even ate the crust. The adults loved loved loved the margherita pie the best even though their Brooklyn Best came in real close. The sauce for all pies was just right and and the dough wasn't too thick or thin. You are able to tell that the owner chooses quality ingredients and doesn't sacrifice taste just to make a bigger profit. Lastly the bill came out less than $100 which is not too bad for a family of ten. read more

Presto's has reopened in April 2014 under the original owner, not the two guys that were leasing the restaurant all these years. The dining room is now open and the same menu is in place with maybe some tweaking, so don't worry. You might have to ask for bread to accompany your meal after the free garlic knots are finished. We came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon...taken here by the parents after hearing about the rave reviews by them from a previous visit. The place was empty at 1pm, as was to be expected, and we were seated in the adjacent room. A nice cozy space. We had the Calamari Fritti - fantastically done! Super crisp without being overcooked. A nice portion that three of us split. Linguini with White Clam Sauce - pretty good, but lacking the white wine we so enjoy that some other places make as part of their recipes. The cooks here also added basil. Yep...fresh basil. I found that it's fragrance was a bit out of place here. I've seen (and tasted) oregano and parsley at other places, but this was the first time I had basil in this dish. Hopefully it will be the last. Pasta Fagioli was tasty but made with way too much salt for our taste. You can be the judge, but be warned. Service was a bit green, but she was attentive. I know, I know...I said that there was no one else there at the time. :-) Take it or leave it, but I would like to try their pizza one day. read more

This is my new favorite place to get pizza delivered from. Tonight was my second time ordering delivery, and I am very content. Delivery is very fast and their food is delicious. I usually get half plain and half veggie. Everything from the sauce to the cheese to the crust is delicious. I normally don't order any pasta dishes, but their penne vodka and farfalle con pepper vodka sauce is amazing. It's a bit on the pricier side, but that's okay! Their food speaks for itself. Had a meeting in the area so I stopped in to pickup a pizza for the group. Heard about it from my wife who works in the area. The owner, Selene, worked behind the counter. I went on a Tuesday afternoon (I think one of their slower times/days) so the place was nearly empty. Selene made sure that my order had been taken and then offered me water or coffee while I was waiting. While I suspect if the place was busy this offer would have never been made, it was an exceptional offer of service and accommodation. The pizza ingredients were fresh. I ordered (not on the menu) their chicken-parm pizza. I would have preferred more flavor but the meeting associates were very impressed with the pizza, asking me where'd I'd bought it. Can't say that the coffee offer (no charge by the way) will occur again but, when I do go back it will likely be on a Tuesday afternoon. read more

Excellent food. I had the veal saltimbocca special, and it was perfectly cooked, with real mashed potatoes as a side dish. A tropical salad special offered marvelous deep-fried shrimp and crabmeat with mozzarella on greens. One dinner companion just wanted a simple pasta with marinara, and that was prepared wonderfully al dente. A complimentary bruschetta and free refills on sodas were nice perques. I ate here once years ago, hated the pizza, and never ate here ever again. This past weekend, we needed to order some pies for company, but my first choice, Brooklyn's was closed. Since Presto's was so close by, we opted to try them again. The pizza menu is pretty extensive. They have a lot of pre-topped pies that all sounded really good! I knew we were going to get one margharita (spelling?) since that's what I wanted from Brooklyn's but I had a hard time choosing between the lasagna, bbq chicken, some other kind of chicken and brooklyn's finest (?) pies. In the end, we went with the lasagna. The pies arrived nice and hot (we picked them up). The lasagna pie was really good! It had lots of ground meat in red sauce, pasta bits, ricotta, etc topping and the crust was nice and crispy- It was much better than I was expecting! The margarita ( i know, i have no idea how to spell it) pie was good, but sorry, it still wasn't as good as brooklyn's. I will definitely visit this place again to check out some of their more creative pies. I'm glad to see they've stepped up their game! read more

This gets 5 stars from me because it's hands down my favorite pizza in the area since Ray's in Rochelle Park changed names & owners I guess and the pizza went waaaaaay down the drain. I'm picky as hell with pizza, this one is the best in the area. This place was closed for like a year and now is open again and fantastic. I Eat pizza from here once a week. It's a solid pie. They also have a nice assortment of slice pies if you go in to eat. Wanted to add.... Been getting the Staten Island Chicken Francaise sandwich.... Just get it. My friends and I chose to have lunch at Presto's. It was a birthday/pre- thanksgiving lunch. There were 5 adults and 13 kids. We made a reservation 20 minutes before we arrived. They took us...with no problems. I can't say enough about this place! Loved the food. The pizza was amazing. The staff were very nice and treated us like family. We were very loud (with kids raging from 5-11 years in age) but they were so accommodating and welcomed us with smiles and laughter. Very welcoming and heartwarn place. Newly renovated, warm and clean restaurant. Seems to be very popular with the local crowd. We got a whole pie with Italian sausage broccoli rabe and pepperoni (Brooklyn) They served us garlic knots with their home made and awesome Marinara sauce on the house. We asked for more of that for our pizza crust. They even asked us to try out a desert they just created to test for the menu. We ordered a Presto pie, the Bianca, a cheesesteak, chicken parm, and mozzarella sticks. Nothing special about the pies. The crust was a bit bland, and while the Bianca pie had a bit more flavor, both were un memorable. The cheese steak was just awful. It looked like it was thrown together in a second, had the wrong cut of meat for a cheesesteak, and the bread was hard. The chicken parm was overdone and dry. We used to frequent Presto's quite often in years past. The original owner and staff were the best around and the food was always good. For whatever reason, the proprietors changed and it went downhill quickly and then was closed for many months. Well now I'm happy to say that PRESTO'S IS BACK! The original owner is there and she couldn't be any nicer or more welcoming! The food was WAY BETTER than I remembered. She knows she has to regain what was lost and it shows. The fried calamari was tender and lightly battered. A chicken dish (on the bone) was so good it could have easily sold for much more than it's ridiculous price of $12.95. The pizza, as good as ever! I have never felt so "disregarded" or dismissed in my life. And not to mention its "International Women's Day! Wrong answer!I I was beyond "DONE! So, I go to order a white slice (my favorite) when I was not even acknowledged, Mind you it was "empty" no customers I was the ONLY one. The staff was busy engaging in a non-related conversation about their personal life ( as usual) and finally when I was "noticed" I was greeted with a what can I get you? How about a "HELLO" how can I help you? Really?SMH. I ordered my slice and waited to be charged....Informed the staff that I wanted to put something on my slice before he packaged it......disregarded...packaged it anyway....are they even listening? Nope.... I had to tell him to take it out of the bag so that I can dress it like I said.....OMG....my patience was really running thin. Ready to pay.....staff didn't even know what to charge me.....REALLY? Why? Because they were distracted with their personal GOSSIP. I can't! PRESTO just in case you didn't know....Customer service is EVERYTHING...! Try it ...it works. Unfortunately, as hard as it is to find a good pizza spot in NJ I'm going to have to just wait until I get to NY to get a good slice. So, the bottom line is .....PRESTO... I'm GONE! Just like that. You have to do better. I do have a TIP: Which is PAY ATTENTION to your bottom line which is CUSTOMER SERVICE ( aka VALUES) because it will cost you.
