Do not eat Primo's MX Uptown. Some of the worst service I've ever had and I've been sick all morning. I've never wanted to give a business a 1 Star review until now. They messed up my order and didn't even try to compensate me or anything they wanted to charge me again for my order like tf?! WORST BLACK BEANS IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! Like I have never tasted one bite out of black beans and threw them away. Last night was the first time... do yourself a favor and just avoid that place. I walk Hashbrown by there every single day. I'll never step foot back in that place. I mean if you wanna not hear you're friends or server cause their music is so loud it's like you are in a club then go for it. We were having a great day on a sunny Sunday afternoon, that is until we walked into the restaurant in hopes to be seated for an early dinner. There were three of us in our party, as we walked by the restaurant trying to decide among the many choices in the immediate area, we landed in the decision to choose Primo's. Primo's is back in the neighborhood after being gone for several years and so we thought we would see what the atmosphere was like and since the restaurant was only about a third full, to the average logical thinker, we thought we would be able to be seated right away. Think again! When the hostess flippantly lifted her eyes from the menues she was wiping down to tell us that it would be at least 15 minutes before we could be seated. We could look and see at least 15 tables open inside and probably another 10 tables open outside, so it defied logic how wiping menues was more important than taking care of a customer that is standing in front of you waiting to be seated. After talking with the hostess to see if she was serious about her comment when it was pointed out to her all the vacancies she had available, she continued to inform our party that we could just step to the side and wait and as soon as something became available she would seat us, again reiterating the 15 minute wait. I informed the hostess we would not be waiting and would rather spend our money at any of the neighboring establishments instead. As we left the restaurant, I passed what appeared to the the manager and I informed her of what had just transpired and she informed me that she could seat us immediately, which was totally contrary to what we were just told. I said to the manager, "thank you but no thank you and that the hostess had already made it clear that they did not want our business". Sadly for them, I live within throwing distance of this restaurant and I was looking forward to them coming back up into the neighborhood after being gone for so long. In this competitive market in Dallas, especially the Uptown area, you get once chance to make a good first impression and unfortunately for the owners of this establishment they failed completely. The days of playing the game of having a high-priced menu and making people wait because your restaurant is a "hot commodity" are well behind us in the Uptown area, ask the 2 previous restaurants that have occupied that location over the past several years in your absence or maybe any of the other failed establishments within a one block radius that are closing every time you turn around. So I went with a girlfriend recently and it was just horrible honestly. Food has no flavor... literally except salt. The margs weren't even frozen yet so we couldn't have one. So we got a marg on the rocks... and all I can say is I could have made a better one. They tasted like watered down bad marg mix. Later they had frozen margs so we got to try them... literally the same flavor just frozen form.. so bad. Sadly, wouldn't recommended this place at all. read more

I've been 3 times and each time the service was horrible. The first was in June, our waiter was sweating profusely because he was out drinking the night before is what he told us. We waited over an hour for our food. The second time was in July, ordered drinks and didn't receive them until after we were finished with our meal( so about 45 mins after we ordered them. The last and final time was last night . We made reservations for 10:30 drive 30 mins paid for parking and go inside. After I found someone to help us( because there was no hostess) we were told the kitchen closes in 10 mins (10:40) so we can't order any food! So why did you allow me to make a 10:30 reservation? This place is the most unorganized, chaotic, awful place I've been to in uptown. They are understaffed and have no business serving as many people as they do. This Tuesday my waitress was drunk. The other waiter I saw sitting and hanging out with a table of guys. It took 45 minutes to get our food. And when our food arrived- both meals were completely wrong.(a salad and cheese enchilada) the salad came with no dressing and the enchiladas were chicken. If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. The food was great; however, the service was not. I informed the guy that brought out the food (not our waiter) that I was burned by the skillet. He proceeded to tell me that he announced to the table that it was hot. I told him that I did not hear him as he was on the other side of the table, and there was a lot noise behind me. Having eaten at plenty of Mexican restaurants and using a skillet in my own kitchen, I know it's hot. However, if it's to the point of burning someone, why not have mittens on the ends? All other restaurants do. I also know that there was no way they carried these skillets to the table without a mitten, so it's crazy that you would leave something that hot without protection. I called them the following day about the burn and was told someone would call me about an incident report after dinner rush. The worker even informed me that all other locations used mittens. I received no contact from them. I then contacted them through Instagram, and was given the response that someone would contact me immediately-- again no contact was made. As a teacher, I like to go to the source of the problem first before posting on social media or leaving a review. However, this is not how a situation should be handled. Please do not allow them to place the skillet at your table without a mitten. I will have a scar that I didn't have before eating at this restaurant due to this. read more

Booked a 16 table top for a company event. Saw the waitress maybe 3 times in 2 hours. The busser came to my table more than my actual waitress. Bought 3 bottles and had to wait 20 mins till we got chasers and shot glasses. Service is definitely the worst aspect of this place. That sucks considering the DJ was doing his thing. Had a wonderful experience with a to-go order from Primo's the other night. Ordered food for the whole family and a cocktail kit! The food was amazing. First visit: We had the "I don't know" waitress. She was VERY sweet but said "I don't know" to the following questions. 'What kind of cheese is in this?' ' Are these stuffed jalapeños like the ones the old Primo's used to have?' 'May we use this Primos coupon given to us by the manager?' Although she said 'I don't know' to all of the questions, she DID offer to ask someone and come back with an answer. She never did. Our second margarita took so long after ordering, we had finished our meal. Lastly, the toilets and floors are covered in urine. At first I thought the toilets had overspray, then realized I was in a unisex bathroom and it was urine. Gross. If they choose to have unisex bathrooms, they need to be checked and cleaned often! Second visit: Waitress was knowledgeable, attentive and sweet. The bathrooms were even worse! Again, if you have unisex bathrooms, they must be checked and cleaned often. There was urine all over the toilet and floor. Gross. Food was unremarkable during both visits. Great food, wonderful atmosphere and very attentive staff. Carne Asada fries are to die for as well as the house frozen margarita. I spiced it up with the advice of my server and got the swirl. I tried Primos for the first time tonight and ordered Shrimp Green Chile Enchiladas. Personally the cheese inside the enchilada was so rich that the flavor of the shrimp was lost. I thought the rice and beans would save the day but sadly they weren't it either. Now the Grilled Fish Taco was delightful, savory and grilled to perfection, it gave my first time experience life. I appreciate the restaurant for being open during the time of social distancing and will be returning for some fish tacos. 3-stars! read more

Taco Tuesday has good deals but bad service. We sat at the bar while waiting for our table and it took the bar tender 25 minutes to even acknowledge us. Furthermore the hostess is never at her stand. I don't think we ever would have been seated if i didn't ask to be seated after our wait time was 15 minute past the time they told us. After we were seated we waited 20 minutes and our server never showed. We had to ask a random server to serve us and she luckily did. I do not recommend this place. Been to this location twice. Both times on a Tuesday and it was poppin. Very busy and very loud. Drinks, food and service are great. The last time I was here there was a mix up with the food and it was replaced right away. Staff were efficient on both occasions.
