Ive been here multiple times, and with each time hoping for a better experience. The food and drinks are extremely boring, not good! I went early today (before the shit show evening rush of Taco Tuesday) I was fully aware of the deals of the day, $2 tacos and $4.99 margaritas. I didn't get the servers name, she not once mentioned the specials nor offered them even after I ordered. Also seems like every time Ive been I've never received silverware so I have to get up and track down someone. I asked for more salsa to make my last taco a fraction better and waited... and waited... and never came. The place has potential, but there are so many flaws I wouldn't know where to start. There are way better places in the area for mediocre TexMex. Two stars because they were friendly and the place is kempt. read more

This review is more towards the customer service because I never got to try the food. The only time we saw our waiter was when he came to ask us for our drinks and brought them. He never came back to check on us, ask us what we wanted to order or anything. Instead after 45 mins of waiting he finally comes and says "Yes?" Because we were staring him down after waiting for so long. No apology or what would you like, no nothing. We decided to ask for the check and he took so long that a manager had to come get it for him. She took it and brought it back by the time he came. I understand it being busy, I give him that, but to see you meet and greet everyone else && check on them multiple times without even glancing at us is a joke. I don't even know why we had a reservation if that was the case. The girls at the front didn't even know where to sit us. I'm a very patient person and I get working under certain circumstances, but the customer service could have been better. If I could give zero stars I would, as this place surely earned it. My husband has been wanting to try this place for a while, so we went early one Sunday evening, about 4:30-5:00. Upon entering, the music the live DJ was playing was so loud, I covered my ears. (Side note: At this time there was only one other table that had customers, not a full fledged party going on). Once seated, we asked the hostess if she could get the DJ to turn down the music, and she replied that she couldn't, because he doesn't listen to her. We then asked for the Manager and she pointed to a lady sitting just on the other side of our booth. We asked her if she would get the DJ to lower the music, and to our shock and dismay, she simply said, "NO".... (Nothing else, no explanation as to why or even a polite "Sorry"). Needless to say, we got up and left, and will never go back. For a restaurant which is coming up short on the Health Inspection scores, you would think they would try to make up for it in Customer Service. Sadly, that is not the case at this location. I've been here many times but wanted to highlight our main server today (Saturday) at lunch for indoor dine in. I wish I had gotten her name. She has blonde hair, petite & black mask on. She was so sweet, professional and on point during our stay. We had a great time, stayed longer than planned, and she made sure everything was perfect for the 3 of us. Exactly what Uptown needed. Primos is causal but classy. I was here for dinner but hope they have plans for brunch! It was their first night and they were busy but attentive. We started with the Primo's La Firma Margarita and Primo Villa Dip. Both were great tasting and fresh. We all got different meals but settled on the Chimichanga. All great! Went to this "new" old location about a month ago and I am so obsessed with the tacos and spicy skinny margs. The bartender, Lisa has become my go-to skinny margarita Queen. I have been looking for the perfect margarita in Dallas since I moved here 3.5 years ago and Lisa's is perfection. I have to go see her at least once a week. Was excited to finally try this place out since regulations lifted a few months ago and everyone now getting out n about. Wasn't busy tonight and many tables open. Tables around us had constant attention, couple servers behind the kitchen glass catching up on gossip and two more servers walking around the floor confused. After 15 minutes at our table with no waters and weird looks from the servers, we finally left. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO PRIMO'S?? This place used to be my go to Mexican spot in north uptown. Amazing vibe, great service, tasty food. It was always packed with people and reservations were tough to get on a taco Tuesday! This breaks my heart to post, but I love this place so much and I hope they see this and improve... I just ordered my typical takeout order - chicken enchiladas with my favorite cilantro brown rice and black beans - and was FLOORED (not in a good way). I arrive at the front end of my pickup window to an almost empty restaurant (during prime dinner hours) and an empty host station. I waited 5 minutes for someone to greet me to go get my order, after which they disappeared and never came back. Several servers walked past and glanced at me standing by the host station, none asked if I had been helped. Finally, 10+ minutes after the END of my pickup window, someone asked what I needed and went to pick up my order, which had been bagged and ready to go on the back counter since I had arrived. My food was barely above room temperature - I had to warm it up when I got home (2 blocks away). The enchiladas were incredibly tough and the rice was so bland. I'm heartbroken. This was my go to Mexican place in my neighborhood and now I'm not sure I'll be back. read more

As always they did not disappoint. Tried the Nachos Primo for the first time it was only 8 something but I added chicken and it was amazing. You better be hungry I could not eat it all. Our family of 6 was seated in a booth at the far end of the restaurant that was one quarter full with people. We were served our appetizer and ordered our dinner. A party of 6 people arrives and gets seated directly behind us ( placed back to back with us in the attached booth to our booth). In the COVID-19 world, it is essential to be 6 feet apart from people thus Governor Abbots mandate that restaurants operate at 50 percent capacity. We could not understand why this party was placed so close to us when there were clearly so many other table choices that would have fulfilled proper social distancing. We alerted the manager about the close proximity situation and he stated that he asked the new party if they minded the close seating and they said no. We told the manager that we did mind and he offered for us to move tables. Does this make sense? We had already had table service and he has us move. We politely moved tables and the staff brought us a whole new table set up. BAD business. By the way, he told us that he is operating at 75 percent capacity - so clearly not abiding by the Governor's mandated order. We have been to several restaurants since the inception of COVID-19, and this is the first one that has not honored the social distancing. Every table was full on the patio. Never again will we be back. Food Quality - just ok. The queso was great! Nothing else was a standout. read more

Enjoyed the margaritas here but I do not recommend this restaurant - we were sitting on the patio and were robbed by passerby's who reached over the patio wall & stole our phones, wallets, and keys right off our table from our grasps. The staff could not have cared less, no assistance or even acknowledgement from staff/ management, and they did not help us call 911 when our phones were taken. Instead, they promptly cleaned our table and ushered us out. The absolute wrong way to handle this - one should be able to feel moderately safe in a restaurant, and Primo's is not one of them. AWFUL !!! We have tried 3 times in the last 6 months. The order is either incorrect or hot food is delivered cold. We ordered taco salad and paid extra for the meat. There was only an eighth of a cup of meat on it and barely any cheese! We live in this neighborhood and were so hopeful that this would be a great addition. Ordered fajitas for two, and a side of carne asada fries to have later on in the week via GrubHub delivery through Yelp. Fajitas had great flavor, which is why there are two stars and not one. The carne asada fries that I just opened are just fries. No carne asada, nothing else in the container but plain old' fries. Plain, bland, boring, outrageously expensive fries. I think that Primos is such a welcome addition to that area of uptown, and another Tex Mex option that was definitely needed from the Glorias, Mi Cocina rotation (don't get me wrong love them too). I was super excited to try it, especially since they have $2 margaritas on Tuesdays! Yes-literally all night, its amazing. They don't taste like $2 margaritas either, and they put Tahin on the rim. My fiance and I walked in and it was pretty packed, they told us the wait would be 45 minutes, but we only ended up waiting about 25. Service was very attentive, always had full chips. We had the Queso Blanco, which was flavorful and hot, but not the highlight of the meal. I ordered the Steak Fajitas ,and my fiance ordered a combination plate. The presentation of the fajitas is beautiful, space conscious (tiered), and useful. The butter sauce that comes with it is amazing. Great homemade tortillas. Only complaint was that my steak was too rare. During Quarantine, we also got To Go food from there, and the fajitas tasted just as good to go! However, they did not come with the butter as listed, which was a major bummer. They were very hospitable and friendly as you wait, they allow you to order beer/wine to go as well as margaritas. My taco salad was missing the dressing, our drinks took 30 minutes to come out and were all in plastic cups, and the service was awful. The ambiance was okay except for the light in the parking lot across the street that blinds anyone that is seated facing the street. E-bar is the place to go for that food experience. Just returned from my second lunch experience, first was a day or two after they opened and I chalked my bad experience up to opening day jitters. Today on the other hand sealed it and I would be doing Dallas a disservice if I didn't share. What was bad? Food, service, the jackhammer/grinder that was going off throughout lunch, management walking around oblivious, you name it. I ordered the burger (I know, hear me out) because my initial taco experience was bad, I thought I would give it a shot. I shouldn't have. My order must have gotten lost because it took 10 extra minutes than my buddies tacos. Once it arrived, I noticed the patties were the equivalent size of two Jimmy Dean sausage patties. It sat on a stiff/stale, over-sized bun with lettuce a cold poblano pepper draped over it. I took one bite and decided to cut my losses, no seasoning and it was cold. This is my first yelp review (honest) - I'm normally very laid back but I can't let this slide. I want to see Primo's be successful but to do that, they need be aware of their opportunities. Improve the service, quit making people wait 40 min for lunch when it is not crowded, we don't need water refills - we need our food. Don't put Tacos Carbon on the lunch menu for $11.99 then bring a tab for $17 if someone gets steak. Spend the money to update the menu to state the option is extra. Make food that is seasoned well and hot. Finally, talk to your management and tell them to look interested instead of aimlessly walking around in sport coats. Five stars because the tacos far exceeded my expectations for a taco Tuesday special! The margaritas are just the right strength to have a good time. If you aren't planning on drinking several, there is a convenient paid parking lot right across the street. It's mostly young adults - you won't really find any high school kids here like you would at Blue Goose. It's in uptown so you'd still fit in if you dressed up a little. Sat at the bar and had a fantastic tex mex dinner. Restaurant is big and has nice flat screen televisions. I wanted to watch the nba playoffs and they had the game on Allready- a good sign. Bartender was friendly and service/drinks prompt. The nachos were lavish and super tasty. I got the steak fajitas and thoroughly enjoyed them. The steak was savory and well flavored. It was very tender and a cut above many of the other fajitas I have had from similar establishments in the area. The Guacamole and tortillas were also excellent. I asked for a side of their hottest salsa and the bartender brought me a small circular dish of orange salsa Paste that he revealed "was just made" . It had zesty flavor and punch but was not burn your Mouth. My buddy had the enchiladas and contended they were solid and similar to mi Cocina. If you like tequila they have a vast selection. I had never been to Primo's until the other night- I will be back. Reasonably priced as well. read more

Poor service and food. I ordered the beef fajitas and they were so tough and chewy I had to use a fork and knife. If I attempted to take a bite of the fajita, the entire piece of meat came out or the tortilla. Rice was not appetizing-very gooey. Only thing that was good were the chips and the decor. Came for dinner. All I will remember is that the music was SO LOUD . They said it would be 2 hrs for a table. Then a table was ready in under 15 min. Our enchiladas were not good! The tortillas were extremely hard (possibly stale) making it difficult to even cut the table knife. Combine this with being overcooked made it hard to even get down with our drinks. The rice was so dry....well, we'll just leave it at that! The salsa was like a thick paste and wasn't appealing to even look at on a chip. The best thing about our lunch was the chips and salsa. The place was a mess. From long wait times, to servers/waitresses not coming to your table, to them charging you incorrectly, it was a less than subpar experience. The food was good, but we waited a LONG time to be served. No one seemed to know what the specials of the day were, we were told it was free queso, only to be later charged for it and told that was only for a certain time. Expect half of your orders to be wrong at the minimum and for your check to reflect orders that nobody actually ordered.
