As a Pasadena local and a New Yorker at heart, I'm always rooting for a great slice, so I was excited when Prince Street Pizza opened. On my first visit around opening, we tried a classic cheese and pepperoni. The dough was excellent, they really got that part right, but the sauce felt like it was missing a bit of fat, acidity, and salt. I chalked it up to opening week. Nearly a year later, I gave it another go and ordered a personal spicy vodka pizza, thinking this would be the one. Again, great dough and good overall structure, but the sauce still felt under seasoned and a bit flat. I know many people love this place, and clearly it works for a lot of folks. We stumbled into this spot after an all-day music festival with a ton of dancing and not much eating so we were late-night ravenous! This place hit the spot! I got the Green Machine (wedge slice) and the Vegan (square slice). The flavor combinations are way more sophisticated than what I find at other convenient pizza stops and I couldn't believe all of the options that they prepared and were ready to be heated up in the oven! The hot honey is generously added which is a great addition alongside the spicy vodka sauce is chef's kiss. Sunset square 7/10 The sweet marinara sauce is good but not enough and the cheese is spread kinda thin. Oakley Smokey 8/10 You can definitely can taste a slight smokiness and there is enough cheese to pizza sauce portion. The olive oil is a nice touch. Fancy prince 10/10 A seemingly simple pizza with a good equal portion of mozzarella and pizza sauce with every bite. Got our food pretty quick and the staff is friendly. EVen though it's supposed to be spicy , I think the naughty Pie is perfect balance of sweet, savory and kick of spice but not over powering. Service: Service could be better, not my favorite location for sure but I love that the place is more spacious and has a restroom. Most other locations are very small and bodega-like. When I came in, I asked what some slices had inside and I got slightly confused when asking the difference between two slices. The man behind the counter got mad and gave me attitude through "what do you mean?" I was genuinely confused but I realized one had sweet marinara and the other didn't. They freshly make their whole pies, so when it arrived, it was piping hot, straight out of the oven. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, offering a satisfying crunch with every bite. The tomato sauce and the cheese were nice and savory. Although, ironically, I found that I liked the flavor a lot more when the pizza cooled down a bit as I could taste the cheese better. There are nearby parking structure so it's not difficult to find parking. It's always amazing to walk around old town after the indulgence on pizza. The store is not very big but had some seatings for you to enjoy the pizza right then and there. I love the big mural inside the store, feels very young and energetic. Flavor wise, I love the one with hot honey which really brings all the flavors together. The service is fast as they take your order down and serve up the pizza right away. The first bite of the pizza is very good! Then the flavor is just okay, and very one note. I thought the same about all four types I tried.
