Had this beer at another establishment while visiting Park City, so when spending time in Salt Lake City decided to check out the Proper Brewing. We checked it out on a Monday afternoon so it was a great place to chill. Mondays they have free pool, so that was a fun surprise in showing up there and kept us there for a few hours. Also tried the Shorty's, was a great beer as well. The bartender working was extremely friendly, answered all of our questions on the beers while offering up his favorites too. Would definitely come back to hang out when in Sat Lake City!

The burgers are always delicious. The bun is fresh and burger fixings are tasty! I love the zucchini pickles and appreciate the healthy portions. The fries are fresh. A large portion can be shared by two people. There is a great selection of craft beers and cocktails. Service is great. Staff is friendly and laid back, while being attentive. Proper Brewing, which is next door to Proper Burger, is a great place to hangout. They have sports playing on a large screen on the wall, there are plenty of retro games for those that want to hang around for awhile. Will be back!

This is a pretty popular brewery, where most people grab a burger from the sister business proper burger next door. There are some arcade games and pool tables. They will definitely fun out of seats on a busy night but the atmosphere is fairly relaxed. I was able to stop in and try a number of samplers and get a few pints. Overall the beers were good. They definitely have a large number of ipas and hoppy beers. I didn't love the balance on their sours, but because the beer rotate through, they might be better the next time I visit. The staff was very pleasant and made some good recommendations for what to try next.

Such good beers at Proper Brewing! Extra bonus points go to this brewery as it is open later than a lot of the other ones in the city and this is a city that rolls the sidewalks up early for a urban area of it's size. I got a lovely wheat beer here which I was very impressed with and the atmosphere is cool too. Kind of a lot going on at this location. One part of it serves burgers and another part is a merchandise shop. Parts of it seems to close earlier than other areas. The taproom looks like it's the last to close. Good place to stop and especially so if you touring SLC breweries.

It's a fun atmosphere! Plenty of seating and good beer. We came during covid and all the games were shut down. Now that covid is pretty much over, the games are back on! There's skee ball, arcade games, pinball machines, pool table, and shuffle board. All the games are free or affordable so it's a cheap and easy date night plan. Depending on which beer you order, it can get pricy. I like IPAs and they are obviously more expensive than the regular stuff. They didn't have the hopspital which was my preference so I went with something else.

Stopped in after a long flight. Was a little confusing. If you want food you have to order next door and they will bring the food over. Hopefully there's not a long line to order food and then hopefully you don't have to wait to order drinks. We didn't have such luck. We were told we couldn't open our can of water while the rest of the group was ordering (food ) and had to open next door. That was confusing and explain LaCroix is a sparkling water only, they still said no. Ok back over the the brewery again to order. Drinks were mehhh nothing crazy. Had some fun games we played. Music was not to loud, which was good since it made you feel like you were in s weird 90 's video game. I order the Utah Johnny burger which was good, large basket of fries again good. Overall I think I would pass on this place if you're looking up places in SLC.

Really great ambiance. Solid choice to just kick back and try some creative brews. Slow day so service was great. Friendly staff, worth a stop!

I usually have to sit there while everyone else enjoys appetizers and dessert, but here I got the full experience, which honestly felt like a luxury. The setup is casual. You order at the counter and then wait for your food, but it still feels organized and easy. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall customer service was great, which made the experience even better. For appetizers, we ordered the Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs and the Spinach Artichoke Dip. Both were really good. I had never tried deviled eggs with smoked salmon before, but it worked surprisingly well. The salmon didn't overpower the egg and added a really nice flavor. The artichoke dip was also a standout and something I'd definitely order again. For my entrée, I had the Huckleberry Pork Tenderloin, and it was my favorite part of the meal. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the huckleberry sauce, but it completely won me over. It's that perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, and I genuinely wished I could take a bottle home. I chose the Parmesan mashed potatoes with gravy and the green beans with bacon and onion as my sides. The mashed potatoes were good, though the gravy leaned a little too savory for my taste. The green beans, however, were excellent. The bacon added great texture and flavor. My husband ordered the Cold-Smoked Sous Vide Tri-Tip with green beans and sweet potato mash. I'm usually not a sweet potato person, but these were shockingly good. I'll probably get those next time. We were already full, but they had gluten-free dessert options, which I couldn't pass up. We took home the Huckleberry Chocolate Mousse and the Huckleberry Supreme Pie, and both were incredible. I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. We definitely overdid it... but I regret nothing. Being able to enjoy appetizers, a full meal, and dessert without worrying about gluten was such a treat. I'd absolutely recommend this place, especially if you're gluten free and tired of feeling limited when you go out to eat.

The funeral Potatoes are made with large chunks of potatoes that are not cooked through, like crunching on an apple, not cooked. The one thing that was edible were the mashed potatoes. However, additional details create a loving connection - it's off-Broadway central location, the copper-paneled ceiling that mimics warm conversations in varied spaces (cocktail, chef's counter, expandable tables for groups, and outdoor), fresh, locally-sourced ingredients with service to match. It's the place where I had my first glass of Turley Zinfandel (education alongside), and the place I will always return for my favorite Wagyu Beef Stroganoff (a comfort from home, but upscale). This one delivered with large, firm, expertly seasoned portobello & forest mushrooms over wide, freshly handmade pappardelle pasta that soaks up rich beef stock (a touch of black pepper) blended with crème fraîche. A generous portion of wagyu is tender and rich. PRO TIP: Mix then let it sit & marinade a minute - flavor pays in dividends. For dessert, a Valhrona Chocolate Pudding topped with whip cream and Maldon flake salt - exquisite, but expensive. The texture is comforting and delicious - olive oil adds a lingering finish with slight fruit.

I informed her that we had a reservation under my name, John, but she simply looked at her list, seemed annoyed, and told us to wait anyway. While we were waiting, we watched several parties of two arrive after us with reservations at 8:10, 8:15, and even 8:20, and they were seated before us. After waiting about 20 minutes, I went back to ask how much longer it would be. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. I reminded Carleigh that we had a reservation, and her response was, "Oh, you did?" She then asked for my full name and phone number, looked up the reservation, apologized, and immediately escorted us to a table that appeared to have been ready the entire time. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Reservations are made so guests don't have to wait behind people who arrive later. It felt like our reservation had been completely ignored until I spoke up a second time. Whether this was poor organization or a lack of attention, the level of service at the front desk was unacceptable. We came looking forward to a nice family dinner, but the experience started with unnecessary frustration and left a very poor first impression. I sincerely hope additional training is provided so this doesn't happen to other guests.

Unfortunately, the experience and food just didn't live up to the setting. We visited on a very hot day and chose an inside booth. We knew it was an old dining car and that it might be warm, and there was a fan, so we figured it would be okay. It wasn't. The booth was absolutely sweltering. By the time we realized just how uncomfortable it was, there was no one around to ask about moving. Then there were the flies--constantly landing on our food and drinks, which made the experience even less enjoyable. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Ruth's Breakfast with pancakes. The Eggs Benedict was a major disappointment, especially given how much people rave about it. The hollandaise had virtually no flavor. A good hollandaise should have a bright, zesty, buttery flavor, but this was completely bland. The English muffin was doughy, and the bacon was overly thick and extremely salty. It was also served in an awkward little boat-shaped dish that made it difficult to cut and eat. I also have no idea what they do to their hash browns. They weren't crisp, had a strange orange color, and tasted almost like Rice-A-Roni. Maybe there's some kind of seasoning added, but whatever it is, it didn't work for us. Ruth's Breakfast wasn't much better. The hash browns had the same issues, and one of the pancakes was completely raw in the middle. To make matters worse, our syrup was forgotten, and we waited a very long time before anyone came back around to check on us. I could potentially overlook mediocre food if the price reflected it, but at around $19 a plate, I find the quality hard to justify. The interior looks charming in photos, but in person it felt more rundown than quaint. The service wasn't terrible, but it also didn't stand out in any positive way. I genuinely wanted to love this place. Given the beautiful location and unique setting, I thought it would be a great spot to take out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, after this experience, I wouldn't recommend it. The setting is worth seeing, but I wouldn't subject anyone to this meal.
