I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it again, this place has quietly become SLCs best brewery. The Burger side of the establishment is going to be a smash hit this summer when the garage doors are open and the patios are full. The atmosphere is simple and sober, a decent place to catch a game if you wanted, but not overly collegiate, i.e. not a b-dubs (no shade b-dubs, u know I have love). Excellent beer. Tried a sample of almost all the ones on tap and they were all very drinkable. 4% only on tap, but it's Utah so I guess that's the way it is. Full strength available in bottles. Had the "proper" burger from next door and it was delicious as well. Fries were a tad dry though, but that just means put more ketchup/sauce on them. People were all super friendly, bartenders and patrons alike. read more

This is a tough review because I like a lot about this place. The interior is wonderful. There are games to play (arcade, pool, skee-ball) and big projectors for sporting events. My problem is not with the place itself, it is swell. My issue is the same at the restaurant side of things, the service. The bartenders are short and make you feel like you're inconveniencing them. When someone asked for a whiskey ginger, they got ginger beer and whiskey but wanted ginger ale. When she took the drink back and said it didn't taste right they brushed her off and said "I saw him pour it, the drink is right." Things like that don't provide a service that people expect when at a bar. Even if you think you are right, you still fix the situation. When a customer is being friendly about an issue and you snap at them, they immediately don't want to return. read more

I visited on Saturday night with 4 friends. The venue is a full bar, not just a brewery. It was loud, busy, and the service was VERY slow, just like you would expect at a really busy, noisy bar. The beer was so-so. Most of it was bitter, even the Gose. I tried the Gose, Mabon, and Gruit. I ended up getting a pint of the Mabon and enjoyed it, for the most part. The beer on tap tasted watered down. The bathroom was so-so, pretty messy. read more

Stopped in for a quick pint. Had the Hopspital IPA which was delish! You van order food from the adjacent Proper Burger Co and eat in the brewery (I did noy choose this option). Cool place with pinball machines, skeeball, pool, and foosball. Fun! read more

We tried for Epic, but ended up here as Epic and as full. So so brewery from our experience. Let's start with the good. It's spacious, they have fun,retro games like skee ball and a large selection of beer and spirits. The service was lacking. When I asked what they'd recommend for a full strength IPA, the waitress listed off the IPAd they had on tap - 4.0 and lower abv beers. The food, from across the way (same parent company) was fine -- burger and cheesy fries -- but we'd never go back for the food. I didn't have a chance to try their saison beer, so I went into their store in the way out - $9 for a 22oz beer. Yikes! read more

I should have listened to the other 2 star review but I thought I would give this place the benefit of the doubt. I tried the Porter, the Gose and the Session IPA. The Porter and the Session IPA were watery and extremely light on flavor. It's not because of the alcohol, Lagunitas has a great 4% session IPA. These guys need to work more on imparting character through mash temperatures and hop steeping times. The Gose was the best of the three but even it was over salted and none of the coriander came through and barely any of the sour character did. The staff was nice and the atmosphere is cool, so it's gets a second star. read more

They have skee ball. They have shuffle board. They have pool tables. They have TV's. Their burgers are getting better and better. Share a side of fries because it is more than enough for two people. Their beers change regularly, and most of them are alright, very few are above average which is the stopping point for this place getting a much higher rating. The place itself is very nice and I love what they have done with the facility, as well as the area. It is definitely a good local spot for decent beers, above average burgers, and a night of fun with friends or a date! read more

cool place. Big, industrial vibe with old arcade games, pool table, shuffle ball, etc. bar has lots of cool beers on tap. They only do beers on tap or bottles and then they have hard liquor for shots but no mixers which was a little odd to me. No food served in the bar but you can grab a burger next door and bring it back in. I recommend that because the burgers were delicious and fresh. I'd come back for sure! read more

Whoa, did not realize there was a brewing co one block from me until Saturday night. This place was packed! Guess I was missing out on the place to be. There's a lot of arcade games in here, which is pretty cool, but perhaps there are too many because people were sardined in here with no place to sit. I would have loved to play skee ball, but it just wasn't possible with the place this crowded. I saw that they do trivia night on Tuesday at 7pm. I'm going to come back on a Tuesday and get here early! read more

To enter this establishment you are required to provide a US State or Federal ID. This means, if you're a visiting Canadian, Brit, Aussie, etc. you cannot enter. They are required to scan your ID at the door and Canadian, etc. ID is not scannable. That goes for passports as well. This is another of Utah's messed up alcohol laws. Too bad. Guess only Americans can enjoy their beer. That's a lot of revenue loss given the amount of tourists that come through SLC. read more

The beer sale laws in Salt Lake City make it a little tricky to sit down in a brewpub and have draft beer of choice and have something to eat. All beer sold as draft are limited to 4% ABV. I can take any ABV beer from the takeout section and take it home to drink or go next door to the Proper Burger. I can order food at Proper Burger and order a bottled beer from next door. I prefer a draft beer over a bottled beer but that is how it is in SLC. read more

This is a review for the Veggie burgers- They're absolutely terrific! We got the veggie patties (not the black bean ones) and they're probably the best I've had here in SLC. Tried two burgers - the one with Ghost pepper cheese and the Proper style Both with veggie patties and both excellent in their own ways. read more

I have come here a few times. Food is hit or miss but not dud to laziness. They are swinginging for the fences but often netting a base hit. But kudos for trying. The beer is why I keep coming back. ... Then I came here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and discovered that they took out the handicapped parking and entrance due to construction. Sort of a necessity for my wheelchair. We made due and the manager bent over backward to make it work. But he intimated that the construction was going to go on for a while. Still, I decided to stop in and see if there was any chance I could fill up a growler without jumping though a lot of hoops. To my surprise, even though the construction is still ongoing, there's a new handicapped parking space painted out front and a temporary ramp. Also, the staff was super on the spot making sure everything worked out. This may not be a concern for most people but it is indicative of a business that would rather be accessible for disabled customers than one that makes excuses for not being accessible. It is likely also an indication of the overall quality of customer service you can expect. read more

This place needs to figure out what it is. I strolled in after work, place pretty much empty, probably because of the hardcore rap blaring at an unbelievable level. What is enjoyable about sitting in a bar in the afternoon with music blasting your ears off? You'd think it was a club when you walked in. This place has lot of potential, but it's not a mystery why it gets crushed by Lucky 13: Lucky knows who it is, everything fits together and they have the staff to back it up. Good beer and friendly taproom staff. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the beers were since they are 3.2% on tap. I moved from Colorado so I'm used to good beer in a nice taproom environment. This place does it best in SLC from what I've seen so far. read more

I had three visitors in from out of state. The two with accents were not allowed in because they didn't have a UT driver's license: One had a driver's license from another country, and was not let in; the second had a CA driver's license, and was not let in. The third, who happens to be white with no accent, has a CO driver's license, was let in. The employee blamed it on UT law, but that's not true at all. Maybe UT employee doesn't know that California is in the USA. Maybe he's a xenophobe. How can anyone tell? We walked over to The Bayou which is also licensed as a bar, and they let us all in after checking our ids. Way to give UT a good name, Proper Brewing. read more

Fun taproom. Trivia night made it enjoyable. Fun and games to be had. A surprisingly large selection of craft beers representing almost every type. The neighboring burger store offered a creative selection of burgers and delivered to the taproom. The salted caramel porter was great. Disappointed that they did not have their stout.
