Love the look of this place. It feels like both a restaurant and cafe; somewhere you can have both a nice lunch and get an essay written. Light beams in from all sides and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I opted for the Spicy Crispy Chicken Burger and fries. The burger was solid, with a nicely fried "chicken" patty and a refreshing blend of slaw and onions on top. It came with a curry ketchup which paired nicely with both. The food came out quickly within only about 15 minutes and I didn't feel rushed. They have a nice feature where you can order directly from the table and pay, giving it an added touch of convenience. There are a few improvements that would suggest to make this place even better. 1) The buns were a little dry and took away from the juiciness of the "chicken" and freshness of the vegetables. 2) The burger, while very tasty, was not spicy. I think some more spice could easily add another point to my review. 3) It's a bit pricy and was a little over 20 dollars with tip. Now on one hand this is pretty much in line with most other places in SF, but one thing I don't like is that they add a 4 percent surcharge. They put that this extra charge is in place to support their employees' benefits which I think is a great thing, but I don't like that it's not added to the original price. Just a pet peeve of mine. The chilaquiles is perfectly crispy but covered in the warm salsa without being soggy and loaded with pico de gallo and avocado and black beans and vegan egg. I can't tell any of the food is vegan it's crazy. My fav is the tempeh bacon breakfast Sandwich as it tastes like a smoky cheeseburger. The most nostalgic sesame bun and the smokiness of the bacon is so good, I would eat this every day if I could as it reminds me of the smokiness in a good southern BBQ. Came in tonight for a quick bite before the symphony. I ordered the Lavender Latte and the Hummus. The latte was magically delicious with real lavender. It was so rich and creamy and not too sweet. I will definitely be back for another. The Hummus was very smooth and the veggies with it were very nice cut up cucumber, red radish and beautifully cut miniature carrots. The mushrooms in the probiotic bowl are truly marinated - they are so salty they are not edible. I left half my bowl uneaten as the only edible components were avocado, purple potato and the house made kimchi. I love black beans but these were bland despite the dressing included. The roasted cauliflower in house made chili crisp was delicious though. If you value your kneecaps, then beware of the horribly designed tables because there is a hook for bags AT KNEE HEIGHT. I came here after taking someone to an appointment in San Francisco. It's one of the places where you order from a kiosk and grab your own water and utensils. I ordered the Wildseed Burger with Avocado and my friend ordered the Probiotic Bowl with the Neatballs. The Wildseed Burger was pretty good. It's had what reminded me of a southwest style "burger" with bbq sauce. The patty is made of mushroom, brown rice, spinach and black beans. It came with a pickle which was more on the sweet than dill side. The Probiotic Bowl has super greens, tamarind marinated mushrooms, purple potatoes, hemp seeds, avocado and house made kimchi topped with green goddess dressing. She added the Neatballs which are made of quinoa, millet and brown rice. I also got the Blueberry Mint Beverage. Meals are somewhere between $15-20 and items depending on add ons you might want. The place is very spacious, with windows facing the street. As it creeped past 5PM it got a bit busier. This is my second time coming here, and today, the food was totally off. I ordered 2 veggie burgers and a fry to go. We took a few bites in the car while driving home. Once inside thats when I noticed the burger was raw and had to microwave them when I got home, a little bit too late. I also noticed there was a quarters size amount of aoli on the buns not spreadeded equally, and the onions tasted weird. The pickles are devine! Service is a kiosk. Another fast casual joint taking the place of The Grove, except they're vegan. They seem to either have fast food-style sandwiches & fries or super healthy looking salads/bowls, nothing in-between (e.g. vegan meatloaf would be nice). It was ok, nothing really stood out to me except the probiotic sodas, which are awesome! Crispy Chicken Sandwich: This could essentially pass for a McChicken. A much pricier vegan McChicken. It had that partially crispy batter and nice chicken-like texture underneath. Soft bun with mayo, lettuce and pickles. Quite comforting. Neatball Masala + Falafel: I actually liked this more than the fried chicken sandwich, shockingly enough! Probably because it was a legitimate mixed bowl instead of a leafy salad in disguise. Strong base with lots of grains, including quinoa. Veggies were a reasonable portion with some kale and pickled carrot shavings. The Neatballs weren't like fake firm chewy meatballs, more like a fall apart assemblage of veggies and grains, like old school veggie burgers in ball form. The falafel was very falafel-like, perhaps even a bit airier. Nice masala sauce and a yogurt sauce that kinda tasted like the real deal. Fries: Sadly, this was no McDonald's fries. Came out room temperature, if not a little cold. Thick and a bit limp. I mean, they're still fries, so I'll take it, but not the best. Blueberry Mint Soda: The shocking G.O.A.T. here. These probiotic sodas are the best! Sweet, but not too sweet. Lots of fruit flavor. And allegedly good for you. Mango Basil Soda: Another refreshing probiotic soda experience. Though I had a hard time tasting the mango, kinda tasted like lemon to me. Chocolate Chip Flaxseed Cookie: I've had my fair share of cookies in my day. Wasn't quite feeling this one. I don't eat vegan food often so my impression of it is that it's just ok. I decided to test the waters and ordered a cup of their roasted cauliflower and leek soup. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful the soup was. It's rich and creamy, savory and full of flavor. The cauliflower was pureed so rather than soup, it's more like a bisque. I taste coconut in the soup which may be what's giving it the creamy richness. The crispy leek topping were a great. It gave the soup some texture in between spoonfuls. My friends and I came here at 10:30 when they opened because we were so hungry after a night out. However, we realized that their lunch menu was unavailable til 11:00, so we found that a bit weird. Ordering is very simple. Each person can scan the QR code at the table to place their individual orders, so there's no need to figure out splitting the bills here. We decided to burn time by ordering a drink first. My Green Juice ($7) was solid containing all the veggies and fruits I'd normally have in the mornings at home. Once 11 hit, the lunch menu unlocked and we each ordered the Spicy Crispy Chicken with Fries ($20) since it looked so good on the menu. The battered-tofu patty had a great buffalo style kick to it, and the shoe-string fries were great as a side. I was one of the three who was made uncomfortable that day. Just want to add another detail. The restaurant was not busy so joining the two tables shouldn't have been a Federal case. When my friend asked why we couldn't sit there, the server said there's the door and you are welcomed to leave! Check your cameras. That escalated the issue which was odd since the restaurant was not busy. We live in the neighborhood and are pretty well known by lots of the servers at our local restaurants.
