I've been here a few times and it's hard to beat the location with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the option to sit outside make it such a great spot to relax. They offer a wide selection of German dishes and beers, and the cocktails are well-crafted, too. I ordered the lamb doner kebab and it was yummy. its a restaurant in a prime location. scenic views, next to the water. we were sat outside in the worst seats ever, right outside the door, and right by all the crowds of people staring at you. we were able to order, partner got a salad, and I ordered the snitzel burger. It didn't take long for my partner to receive their salad but after that, we were never asked if we were doing ok, if we needed more water or was told how much longer my food would be. I watched people who had sat down after us get their food orders. There was only three servers that I saw running around as best they could. unfortunately, with no service and the fact that they had sat me direcly in the sun and was burning & starving, I gave up waiting for my food after about 45 minutes. My husband had finished HIS food, and there was now no point in waiting any longer. The whole experience was to have a date and meal together. I DIDN'T GET THAT. I only can afford a meal date once a month. This was supposed to be special for us. We work so hard, to just have one nice meal together. I thought I did the research, I thought I chose carefully considering the reviews. There were just too many customers and too little servers. People are bound to be forgotten, especially considering their weird layout. I watched my server attend to other people-everyone but us, and I finally flagged him down to get the check. I told him I didn't get my food, he gave a meek sorry and that was pretty much it. For the price of the food, it just doesn't seem worth it if you yield no attention from servers. I was upset with the flippant attitude of the server but what you can do? The server & Restaurant didn't really take any responsibility for ruining my day. I wish my experience had been different. All I wanted to do was enjoy a nice meal together with my husband. Now, I'm sunburned from sitting in their worst seat, & I'll have to wait until next month to have a nice meal date. This place is great! It has ana amazing location right next to fort mason. Is a got to spot for post farmer's market. You can stop by to just grab a beer or you can come by for a full on meal. They have a rotating menu of beers. They had some fun beers for october fest. I'm a big fan of their potato pancakes with the salmon. So yummy! They also have nice salads with a ton of fresh ingredients and balanced sandwiches. It can get loud in there. It gets echoey there isn't a lot to drown out the noise. This building used to be used to be a part of the US army machine shop. We came at night for a dinner but I think it would be the perfect spot to stop on a really nice day for an afternoon beer. It was busy on a Thursday late afternoon, probably 3/4 full, but with lots of staff running around. We'd walked all over Fort Mason, had a wonderful time. We went in, hostess was...indifferent? We asked if we could sit outside "sure." Menus? "Here." We sat outside right next to the door where she'd pointed. I think nothings irritates folks at a restaurant more than seeing people who've come in after you being served first. Well, a group went to a table and were immediately given water, and shortly thereafter, beers. Were we supposed to order up front? Hostess turned away when I went to ask her and disappeared. Final straw was a young waiter passing by and we asked "could we have some water when you have a chance?" And he barked "in a minute!" WTH. Fuck you punk. All three of us got up simultaneously and left. Food looked nice, but damn, sorry your fucking dream job at Anthropic didn't come through. Walked in mid afternoon on a busy Father's Day but we were seated within 5 minutes of checking in and offered water within a minute of settling in. Our server was friendly and professional, checking on us for drinks then letting us know that orders would arrive as they were plated which was fine with us. I love a place that offers weekend brunch well into the afternoon - I didn't want a burger although my spouse enjoyed his and would return again for same. My eldest pronounced the lamb doner not spicy enough but extra sauce fixed that. And my youngest enjoyed over easy eggs along with the potato pancakes, I will order next time. And I enjoyed the special Spaetle with a poached egg, creamy mushroom sauce, fennel topped with pickled red cabbage, savory comfort food but not heavy or overwhelming. Was looking forward to German food with a holiday get together with work. Restaurant is located in the marina and has a large, open, modern, hipster feel. Our group had a prefix menu. For starters, we had the pickle platter, bratwurst baked in a dough and sliced, and mini potato pancakes that had a tiny dollop of sour cream and applesauce. The potato pancakes were more mild flavored than a latke. The main course was roasted chicken with lemon, Statspatzle, German potato salad, and Haus salad. The roasted chicken was moist and had a good flavor. The Statspatzle was the Hubbs favorite, and was a creamy baked noodle dish with cheese. Basically yummy Mac & cheese for adults! The German potato salad had a tangy dressing with seeded Dijon mustard and vinegar and was made with baby potatoes that has been sliced. I would've liked the potato salad, except the potatoes were way undercooked. My first bite, the potato was so hard that it was more raw than cooked. For dessert we had what seems like a chocolate ganache served in an Asian spoon and cream filled puffs. The chocolate was very good. Warning be sure to pay for parking before hand as several folks in our group received $15 tickets on their cars. read more

This place is always busy, so I would suggest exploring Fort Mason and the waterfront while you wait if you didn't grab a reservation. There's a gorgeous wall of windows that makes dining at sunset such a treat. For drinks, you can't go wrong with a beer or my favorite, the elderflower weizen, which is perfectly balanced. The fries are pretty good here, but are even better if you ask for a side of curry ketchup. We also love the chicken schnitzel sandwich, though the horseradish aioli on it could be a polarizing choice. The döner kebab with lamb was a standout - perfectly fluffy pita and tender meat. Our absolute favorite thing on the menu is the pretzel. Do not skip it! It is so warm and soft and pairs so well with the mustard and cheese spread. I first saw Radhaus on Check Please, Bay Area, so it was on my to visit list. We attended the SF Coffee Festival earlier that day and decided to stop here to get lunch afterwards. Service was okay, my daughter was visiting from SoCal and was wearing an LA hat, our server had a SF tattoo, so I think our server was just trying to take our order with minimal interaction until it was time to pay up. Food was just okay, a little heavy on the salt side. I noticed I'm more sensitive to salt and I figured it was due to "old age" but my daughter said the fries were salty. My smash burger was okay, but it made me wish I chose something else. I did not have any beer/cocktails. We drank coffee all morning, so we had to pass on that. Visually, I think this is a gorgeous spot with an enticing bar and seating inside/outside. We got to sit inside, look out the window and see the Golden Gate Bridge, how lucky are we! I know my husband wants to visit here. Maybe for beer, but err on the caution of the sodium intake. read more

We came here on a Saturday evening and made reservations about 2 hours in advance. When we got there it was very packed and lively, so definitely make reservations to secure a spot! We were seated pretty fast, but there was some confusion from the servers on who was in charge of our area - we were sitting there for a while waiting for someone to take our order but had to eventually flag someone down, who then had to run off and flag the actual waiter in charge of our table. Besides that hiccup, our food was lovely. Big, hearty portions. I'm not too familiar with German food so it's all new to me. The meatballs were really dense and filling and I liked the sauce with the mashed potatoes. My partner got the Jägerschnitzel - we looked at previous yelp reviews and it looked bigger in other people's pictures for some reason, but it was filling nonetheless. I'm very familiar with German food. My dad is Austrian, but grew up partly in Munich so I grew up eating a lot of this stuff. I ordered the jägerschnitzel and the spätzle, and they were not authentic. But also... if it's supposed to be a California cuisine take on traditional food : why would you choose filling, meaty + potato-y Bavarian food?? The two don't make sense at all. The schnitzel and jäger sauce were both pretty bland and could have used more salt. The schnitzel could have been thinner and the breading was very American--coarser and more crunchy, instead of light and crisp. The spätzle was okay. Noodles were cooked well, but they were pretty bland and oily... like the noodles n' company buttered noodles. I liked the beer selection. All pours were cold and fresh! The service was great. Very accommodating, quick, and communicative. I will have to nitpick, though: none of them pronounce any of the food or beer correctly. Spätzle is pronounce SHPET-sluh not "Spot-Zel," and jäger is YAY-ger not yeah-ger. Like, I know it isn't trying to be super authentic Bavarian beer hall but at least get that right. It honestly makes sense to have the food mispronounced and then also be culinarily underwhelming. The ambiance was cool. There were large groups of younger people gathering for drinks, families, couples--all sorts of people. The view is really nice, and we could see the bridge at sunset from our table. There are long tables and more private tables. The space feels very airy and has really tall ceilings; the decor kinda feels like industrial x modern farmhouse. Lots of white tile and cement. Wow, what a fun addition to Fort Mason! Was seeing a show here and wanted dinner before that wasn't pricey vegetarian food, so this was pretty much my only option. Slightly elevated German beerhall food, that still pairs well with a beer and is quite tasty. Haus Pretzel & Obatzda: Ok, not quite a gigantic Oktoberfest pretzel. But nice and fluffy with a tangy cheese spread. Perfect as an appetizer for one or maybe two people if you're super hungry. Jägerschnitzel: Crispy. Meaty. Lots of umami creamy mushroom sauce. Could totally see them using some fancy local variety of mushroom instead of the run-of-the-mill mushroom you might get in Germany. Käsespätzle: Love those rugged shaped discs. Even better with all the creamy cheese sauce. Doesn't look big, but is very rich. Only drawback were the green breadcrumbs which tasted way too herbal and distracted from the cheese sauce. Brussels Sprouts: A nice glow up for the often maligned Brussels Sprouts. Seared just right and covered in lots of tasty creamy sauce. read more

Middle-of-the-road German Biergarten in Fort Mason. I was there for a private event last week, so can't comment on what it is like during regular hours. So I'll stick to the food and beer I tried. Beer - Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn beer. Didn't blow my socks off, but it was refreshing. Food - the potato pancakes were excellent, and I enjoyed the pretzels and horseradish mustard combo. Rest of the veg food was meh. I didn't try the non-veg food as they didn't put it out till much later in the evening. The restaurant is airy and well kept, and the outdoor seating is superb. I was surprised this was described as a Bavarian beer hall because that wasn't my first image when I entered the cavernous all-white space in Fort Mason. In fact, it looked more like a contemporary California style restaurant, but the menu definitely had a German accent. There were genuinely Teutonic dishes like currywurst, fischbrotchen, and chicken schnitzel. For reasons buried deeply in my subconscious, everything I ordered was pink. This is your go-to for a good German brat & beer. There's a full bar & excellent selection of brunch, appetizers, lunch, dinner. It was not busy when we arrived, but more people showed up throughout the night. I ordered the Brussels sprouts, richly sauteed in black garlic vinegar; they were delicious! A friend ordered the Haus pretzel with a Bavarian cheese spread. The only issue we had was the sun was beaming right at our table for most of our visit, which can get warm.
