I actually like grocery shopping now. Not the greatest selection but it's a small store. There is nothing I'd buy at a commerical chain that I can't find there. "Specialty" stores are for everything else anyway. It's soooo nice to pick up a few things after a long day at work and not have to wait in a line more than 3 deep. Ever. They are so on top of that it's amazing. The checkers are always so friendly and the "greeters" actually seem to give a crap. They even have a person posted at the front "just to help". I actually had one of the gals help me unload my cart while I got my cards out (I am very able-bodied so it wasn't a charity thing). She was just being awesome! Once, I dropped a bottle of vodka while loading my car. (naturally, it couldn't have been the bread or TP.). I had three people run over and help without a peep from me. One to clean, one to get me another and one to patch my cut from when I tried to help clean. No attitude. Exactly the opposite. We were laughing about pigeons trying to get drunk. I actually felt really good after that experience. Weird. I once had to wait for two whole people ahead of me at the deli. They apologized for the wait and offered "appetizers" to keep me happy until my turn. WHAT? That is freaking cool! Granted, I come from Chicago, the land of "shopping cart lock down", demerits for eye contact and smiles and lines that extend to the motor oil section, but this Ralph's is still far-and-away the best grocery I've ever frequented. read more

This is my favorite Ralph to go to because of the customer service at check out! The cashier's are amazing. The store's produce always looks fresh and is very kept up with compared to some of the Ralph's I've been to. Pro: It's a Ralph's Fresh Fare , useful stockers and friendly checkout staff. Con: It's a Ralph's Fresh Fare 6 times too small. Useless managers, clueless bakery staff, cheap wine selection, and non traditional Fresh Fare layout. I ordered the Thanksgiving Turkey from here since I am too lazy and busy to cook everything from scratch, also with my work week ending in Costa Mesa. I pick this Ralph's since it is a Fresh Fare, while actually have never been in this store... I should of order my meal from the other one 1 block down the road. Placing the order over the phone was pretty easy, but they didn't even bother asking for my last name. This turned into some issue as there were more than one Jackie picking up turkey at the same time, after they run around wondering where the other crew put the meals. I had a hard time finding things, as they do not make any sense at all. The soda was in the same aisle as the toys, good luck for parent coming in with kids, this will be a madness aisle. I recevied warning from one of my client on how crappy this Ralph's was but blow off the warning just on the fact that it is a "Fresh Fare"... but this is not the same store such as Talega Village. Very upset with this location. I've seen them sell alcohol to minors, not card many people at many different visits, and even told me to go home and come back a few hours later so they can help me. Really? Come back a few hours later so you can properly help me? Horrible. When I called the manager about these incidences he replied with "I'm sorry, what can I do" Well for one, train your employees to follow the law and card people. I'm only 21 and I don't get carded here. Second, you can have your store properly staffed and train your employees to have better customer service. This review is for the deli, mainly the sandwich station. For the longest time I would go to ruby sandwiches and pay ten dollars for a sandwich drink and chips. Yeah it was good, but not that good. Then I decided to go to Ralphs because I remember they have Boars Head meats and cheeses. $6.99 for a bomb sandwich, fountain drink and kettle chips is the best. Sure you have to go somewhere to eat it, I usually go eat on the tables on cliff dr or down by the water somewhere. Fresh air is good for ya, and so are sandwiches. Today I went a different route and opted for the chicken tenders, I asked for four which ended up being four dollars. Loaded up a cup of ranch at the salad bar and was pleasantly surprised when I opened up the bag and saw four huge pieces of fried chicken. F-off Colonel Sanders, you have just been replaced. This is the closest grocery store to my home so I go here A LOT. I find Ralph's to be overpriced compared to most other grocery stores, so its mostly the convenience that brings me here. The other main reason I keep coming back is the staff here, they're all ridiculously friendly and helpful. They remember me every time and always ask about my husband, my day or whatever else it is that we may have had a conversation about the last time I was in. Friendly people and great customer service always keep me coming back. Try to avoid the place between 5-630 though because the lines can get huge. read more

It's really too bad that our neighborhood store has gone so downhill. They want you to do all your check out yourself but you have to stand in one line to do alcohol and there are eight people in one long line, and we need a new grocery store to go to! It seems they don't care, as there are four empty lines with no checker, only one in the entire packed store! read more

My wife and I tend to go here most often because it is within walking distance and the convenience factor is pretty high. I agree with the other reviews that their selection is limited because it is such a small store, but the quality is generally pretty good. The produce selection is pretty decent for a Ralphs. The staff is friendly and they have people stationed in the store to specifically greet and/or help you find things. read more

First this is not a "super super market" I Mean it's not a huge store like the other Ralph's I've been to so if you have that in mind before you go, you will be more pleased. For the size, it's still a very nice grocery store. They have "niche" items like banana Twinkies, a few exotic fruits, and flavored ice cubes to name a few. I was in need of about 3 dozen birthday cupcakes for my daughter once and although their bakery is semi small..it had what I needed! They have a decent selection of fresh baked goods as well. The staff is very friendly and they have plenty of tellers so you don't wait long at all! Another nice thing about the store is they have a full functioning Starbucks which allows you to get your refill (not all grocery store Starbucks do this); So you can pick up your drink when you start shopping and get your free refill (of iced or regular coffee or tea) when you leave! I am tired of the Covid excuse for bad customer service. Three times over the last 2 months the deli counter had gotten my order wrong - I order 3 items same weight - I say it twice - ask if they have any questions and it always comes back wrong... not the wrong weight - the wrong product! For example i order oven gold Turkey and I got low sodium Turkey, order Genoa salami and get hard salami ... etc... called the manager to suggest a better system - either writing it down or a menu to check things off and he was dismissive... said I am the only one to tell him about this... and used the mask for the reason they get it wrong... okay that might be but then fix it! And as a manager you might want to try and make a loyal customer feel like you cared. read more

This is a small Ralphs but I appreciate it for its convince. I came here to get a cake and some snacks. I easily found what I needed and was in and out quickly. Its a quick three minute drive from my parents place and serves as a good last minute stop to buy some snacks if you are ever going down to the beach. read more

I usually go to the other Ralph's down the street but live closer to this one so I figured I'd give it a try. Within 2 days my peaches were completely rotten and moldy. Never had this with the other Ralph's. I also think this location is more expensive than the other one. I went here to buy a 500$ gift card for my brother for his graduation. The manager refused to sell me a gift card unless I was going to pay it all in cash. I called customer service and asked them about gift card restrictions and the representative told me that there is nothing that said I can't use my credit card to buy the 500$. I talked to the store manager again and then said that this is her store policy and wouldn't sell the me gift card. I've shopped here because it is close by my place but NO never again will I use the restroom here! They should take a lesson from trader joe's and learn how to fix up their restrooms. This Ralph's is really small, especially compared to the store just a mile down the street on East 17th St., and worst of all, it's one of those fancy "Fresh Fare" stores, so they sell the same stuff, but purport it as "upscale," just to milk you out of a few more dollars. I took a few steps in, looked at the claustrophobic produce area next to a cold case filled with overpriced meats and cheeses and walked right back out the door. If I'm going to pay $10 for a slice of Brie, it's going to be from a Bristol Farms or Whole Foods, where I expect to pay an arm and a leg, not a chain like Ralphs. Yeesh! read more

Ha! This one is no better than the Eastbluff ralphs. The one thing I have noticed about ralphs hostile employees is they won't greet hi or hello at all and forget about saying thank you at the end of the transaction. Their cashiers would just give me the dead fish eyes look and stare waiting for me to give my greetings first. It must be a store policy. Well after awhile I stopped greeting them as well. I don't even know where to begin. I am so humiliated and upset over the ordeal that it is hard to even write about it. I have never been treated so poorly. I went to Ralph's today to purchase gift cards for my staff. I needed 1500 in gift cards. I needed to use two separate cards as I needed different receipts. I right away was given a speech about how my license better match my ID and how they are very strict as there has been fraud etc. they were already treating me like I was a criminal. I have her my credit card and she had a hard time processing the transaction. She called for a mgr. I told the mgr that I think the associate made an error and they need to run my card again as I know the money is available. Three different women approached me and made a scene to tell me I needed to leave and that they would not accept a credit card from me. They said I needed to call my bank and leave the store. They said it is there policy to not allow me to purchase gift cards if one credit card does not work! This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. I insisted my card worked and swiped it myself on machine mounted on the counter, and it worked. Suddenly they were apologetic and friendly. I would have left and not given them the sale. But I wanted them to know that I had the money so that they knew they were wrong. They needed to be set straight. I've worked in retail for years. People have cards that don't work all the time. They give you a second card. There is no policy that says you can't use two different cards. They made this up and humiliated me in front of my employee and other customers. This is a Fresh Fare Ralphs. The difference between a Fresh Fare and a regular Ralphs is the layout, product mix and design/motif. I used to frequent the Fresh Fare location in Villa Park, when I lived in Orange and these are great markets. The staff is always super friendly and helpful and they have a great meat department and features Choice grade and above beef. This location has a great bakery with too much good baked goods and I have a hard time getting past there without buying something. I'd say both locations are very similar. The Villa Park one is probably a little larger in terms of square footage. Nice market that comes off as an annex to the regular Ralphs on 17th st. read more

This store is about 1 mile away from another Ralphs. It's a good location, probably the one of my favorite shopping centers in Newport. It's right next to a variety of restaurants, beauty shops, Pilates gym, fresh juice, etc. The store is always kept clean and the employees are helpful. Lines are never too long. read more

I come here for most of my groceries. It can be pricey but they have good sales with the Ralphs card. This store has the best reduced price rack that I have ever seen. They have a ton of cakes and other goodies that are at a great reduced price. I always buy from there when Im buying a birthday cake or a cake for any occasion really. read more
