I had a wonderful dinner here, Vicki, our server was very attentive and friendly. The food is delicious! Sister and I tasted their dim-sum: must have lobster sui mai and black truffle xiao bao lung. For entrees, black truffle fried rice, steamed Australian cod fish on soy scallion sauce, and Chinese broccoli. Also the cocktails are a must try!! Completely overpriced for subpar Chinese food. I was mostly excited to try their evening dim sum expecting the quality to be exceptional for the cost. The lobster siu mai and the black truffle xiao long bao weren't even properly steamed. When we received, they were cold and the lobster was no longer delicate. We did enjoy the caviar taro puff with quail egg, but at 19 dollars for one piece, I'd hope that it would be above average. The best part of our meal were our drinks, but that was not our intention while dining at Red Plate. The Iberico pork was chewy and could not be easily bitten. We required a knife to get through it. The fried sea bass wasn't fried well, so it didn't have a light crisp exterior. Flavor wise I enjoyed it, minus the excessively oily flavor. Also for 48 bucks, the quantity of fish was laughable. We also had the soft shelled crab which was also oily and and chewy rather than fried crispy. Maybe because we were one of the first patrons for dinner service, their oil wasn't heated to proper standards, but for the cost of our entire meal, Red Plate could have done a much better job meeting expectations. I have dined at several Cosmopolitan restaurants, but this was the biggest disappointment. I do appreciate our server though who did a good job selling and explaining the dishes. Not her fault she hyped us up but couldn't deliver the quality of food I'd expect at this caliber of restaurant. read more

Our server, Anesa C. was attentive, friendly, and helpful with menu suggestions. Here's what we ordered: * Golden Lotus cocktail ($16.00@) * Lobster shumai ($12.88) * Black truffle xiao lung bao ($12.88) * Pan fried Chilean sea bass with soy sauce ($48.88) * Beef fried rice with black truffle & egg ($38.88) * Short rib special (off menu - only 5 portions nightly) ($98.88) * for dessert: Mochi on ground peanuts and ginger tea ($20.00) So, why only 4 stars? The Short Rib special was flavorful and tasty, but the meat slices were inconsistent in their tenderness...many pieces were quite tough. At the price, it was a disappointment. I celebrated my birthday July 31 at this restaurant and it was AMAZING. The staff was very courteous and nice and the knowledge on what goes into the food was very impressive. I will definitely be back every time I go to Vegas.....the Lobster Siu Mai was definitely a winner. At the end of my dinner they brought us a fantastic dessert assemble on a very nice red plate and decorated in gold. Could not have asked for a better bday dinner. read more

Just ate there last night and people this place is AMAZING!! It is Authentic Chinese/ Cantonese food and it was phenomenon. We had a variety of dishes which exploded with incredible taste in our mouths. The restaurant itself is so elegant and beautiful and yet the prices are VERY reasonable. Our waiter Mr. Howie was as best as it gets. Extremely professionalism and explained every dish to us in every detail. This is the only place to keep in mind if you want delish Chinese on the Strip! You have to get the Bbq ribs, Peking Duck and Salt/Pepper Lobster..... seriously amazing. I've tried pretty much every restaurant at Cosmo since this is where I normally stay and came across Red Plate on my visit this weekend. I was in the mood for fine Chinese cuisine. I've been to Jasmine at Bellagio and Blossom at Aria and was so excited to see Red Plate at Cosmo. The restaurant is beautiful, it felt as if I walked into a classic Chinese movie, just beautifully detailed. We ordered minced chicken lettuce wrap, duck and lobster, I can't recall the exact name of the dishes on the menu but they were Cantonese dishes at its finest. The lettuce wrap was a refreshing starter, I didn't eat the duck dish but my guy loved it. I was so looking forward to eating the lobster because I was disappointed at the dry lobster I had at STK the night before. The lobster is stir fried with a hint of sweet lemongrass sauce, little bit of Thai flavoring almost but it was delicious! The lobster was so fresh and juicy and just full of flavor, I had to remember not to lick my finger or the shell because I was at a fine restaurant but it was so good not to. I love that they also give you soy sauce, chili and my absolute favorite, XO sauce to go with your entree. The only disappointment was the almond dessert, it's almond jello with cream but the texture was a bit dense, wish I would've ordered the bird's nest tart instead cause that sounded good.
