Loved the service and the food options for the Yelp elite event! I had the chicken taco and it was both spicy and flavorful, some of the best tacos in the downtown sf area.

A taco stand in a cargo container at that concrete SoMa park. The meats are a mixed bag, with the asada being the star. However, if you stick with the reliable asada then the items will be pretty good. Asada Taco: Probably my favorite of the taco meats I tried. It's the classic goodness of lightly marinated steak nicely grilled and chopped small. Plays well with the onions, cilantro and salsa. Chicken Taco: Kinda bland compared to the other meats. Chicken inherently has a more subtle flavor than beef or pork. Additionally, the spices were a bit weak. Thankfully there was some salsa added on. Pastor Taco: Definitely stands out as the best sauced meat! Though it didn't feel as charred as typical pastor. Still tasty. Carnitas Taco: Not crispy like some carnitas around, but the signature meaty pulled pork texture. A great fatty vehicle to pair with salsa. Veggies Taco: Probably my least favorite. I'm not opposed to vegetarian food philosophically. In fact, I really do love natural vegetarian proteins (e.g. paneer, some nicely spiced tofu) and the meat imposters (e.g. Impossible). This, however, felt lazy with rice on a little taco... really? Some black beans and some not-so-charred squash. I can imagine that even vegetarians might be disappointed. Asada Nachos: Pretty large portion, especially by San Francisco lunch standards. Lots of nice melty cheese, kinda like the Chipotle white queso sauce. A large mount of pinto beans and decent amount of meat. What I really liked is that the thick chips stayed crunchy the entire time it took to eat the whole portion.

I ordered the carnitas burrito and my husband ordered the carne asada one. We also asked the guys for a salsa picante and their house made one delivered! The ingredients were tasty, well seasoned and fresh. Service is quick, food and ambiance are no frills and cash only. I think about this burrito daily and am willing to travel across the country to get it again. Not to mention, but this is a Mission style burrito in the Mission! This is the only way to do it and I now totally understand the hype.

A few people were already in there eating, and we know this place is good, as a few others in our group and I have been here multiple times. The Taqueria is typical of any other, with bench-style chairs for folks to sit on, a water station, and workers cooking it up in the kitchen. I wasn't too hungry, so I grabbed a Super Lengua Taco, while my friends grabbed burritos, we ended up grabbing 3 complimentary chips and guac/salsa with our order and the food came out pretty quickly. When I saw my Taco I forgot how much they stuffed it and wow, two of these would've filled me up just like a taco; there was so much Lengua that it kept falling off after every bite. The flavors all came together and I scruffed down the whole thing after about 6+ bites! Definitely a place to come to if you're looking for a full meal, or something to snack on!

While I can say the staff was friendly and the service was good, I honestly don't think it lives up to the hype. In my opinion, it's become more of a tourist destination than a must-visit local taqueria. The food was decent, but there are several nearby places that offer better-tasting tacos and burritos for less money--and without the long wait. I'm glad I gave it a try, but I probably wouldn't go back. If you're visiting San Francisco, it's worth knowing there are plenty of excellent local taquerias that provide better value.
