I'm so excited they're open again with! My new favorite is the spicy super carnitas torta. It's a warm, flavorful, pulled pork sandwich on a soft loaf similar to brioche. A lot of people say good things about the nachos, too! This is one of the three food stalls in the East Cut Crossing park, which has been a wonderful addition to our community. There's free Wi-Fi and cute little picnic tables with movies, cartoons, and sports playing on giant projectors. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. My only suggestion would be to extend the hours later if possible. Tons of people come here for Pickleball after work and on weekends. The hungry crowds would swarm this place around dinnertime if the food vendors stayed open later! read more

Ambiance is cool since it's part of the park. The food is mid. Decent portion but not particularly flavorful. Their mild salsa doesn't really have any flavor to it. I would hardly even know it was there if I didn't see it. Service is good and friendly. read more

Pretty solid food truck set up near the SoMa area by the pickle ball courts. I was in major need of a quick snack and was so happy to have found this spot. Lots of seating and benches. Great atmosphere and even free movie screening nearby. I ordered an al pastor taco and it was solid. Not the best but not the worst. It was like the benchmark. I'd be happy to have gotten more, in fact! Food came out super fast and the guy behind the counter was friendly! Would totally come again as a quick lunch option. read more

A taco stand in a cargo container at that concrete SoMa park. The meats are a mixed bag, with the asada being the star. However, if you stick with the reliable asada then the items will be pretty good. Asada Taco: Probably my favorite of the taco meats I tried. It's the classic goodness of lightly marinated steak nicely grilled and chopped small. Plays well with the onions, cilantro and salsa. Chicken Taco: Kinda bland compared to the other meats. Chicken inherently has a more subtle flavor than beef or pork. Additionally, the spices were a bit weak. Thankfully there was some salsa added on. Pastor Taco: Definitely stands out as the best sauced meat! Though it didn't feel as charred as typical pastor. Still tasty. Carnitas Taco: Not crispy like some carnitas around, but the signature meaty pulled pork texture. A great fatty vehicle to pair with salsa. Veggies Taco: Probably my least favorite. I'm not opposed to vegetarian food philosophically. In fact, I really do love natural vegetarian proteins (e.g. paneer, some nicely spiced tofu) and the meat imposters (e.g. Impossible). This, however, felt lazy with rice on a little taco... really? Some black beans and some not-so-charred squash. I can imagine that even vegetarians might be disappointed. Asada Nachos: Pretty large portion, especially by San Francisco lunch standards. Lots of nice melty cheese, kinda like the Chipotle white queso sauce. A large mount of pinto beans and decent amount of meat. What I really liked is that the thick chips stayed crunchy the entire time it took to eat the whole portion. read more

Best Carnitas Torta Ever! The carnitas were perfectly grilled, with a crispy cheese crust and absolutely packed with flavor! The torta came loaded with sour cream and guacamole, making it extra satisfying. You can really taste the care that goes into every bite. Great food and atmosphere. Had the pastor nachos and I like that it was nacho cheese and lots of salsa and toppings. Plus the pastor was flavorful. In an area that plays movies and has pickleball courts and other options for something sweet like boba or a cocktail, within walking 20-30 feet. Friendly staff and met all expectations. Worst torta I have ever had. This is no torta. It was a plain chicken sandwich just like from a deli. No beans, plain cooked chicken not Pollo Asado. Bread not toasted, too much bread. Bland. I don't even wanna know what the burrito is like. Please go up the street to the taco truck at Main and Howard. Or have a nit so authentic burrito at Woodlands, grocery store a block away. Had the Al pastor super torta. There is a dearth of solid Mexican food in ferry building adjacent SOMA. Bottom line: Red Rooster hits the mark Solid flavor on the pastor, toasted bun, melted cheese. Rincon Hill/East Cut has been in dire need of affordable food options. Although a meal for less than $10 is a pipe dream these days, something under $15 is a step in the right direction. Fortunately, Red Rooster Taqueria must have heard my pleas and recently opened up a location at the former trans bay bus terminal/transit center now called "The Crossing." I'm guessing they have only been open since September 2023 since they still have no record on Yelp. Well, I'm here to change that, and I'm here to tell you it's pretty good! To find their location, look for the other small food kitchens near the pickleball courts. If you don't know where the pickleball courts are, take your headphones out and follow the noise. I stopped by after a long bike ride and had a serious appetite. I wanted a grilled chicken burrito with black beans ($13.50 for regular and $15 for super), but unfortunately, they had neither chicken nor black beans. Fortunately, they did have a carnitas/pork burrito with pinto beans, so I opted for that. My wife also wanted chicken, so in her case, I chose an asada/beef burrito. I have to say, they were very generous with the meat, and they were very flavorful and filling. In a perfect world (and I know this sounds crazy), I wish there was a bit more rice to better balance the burrito, but I'd rather too much meat than too much rice. I also appreciate that they have chips to accompany your meal and that they also include a delicious container of green and red salsa. Outside of the fact that they had no chicken, I'll for sure go back and would encourage anyone else to give them a try as well. Nope. Pricey and doesn't taste good at all. Came here after watching Circus Bella for a quick bite. No line and not much people around 2:30pm. Food was made pretty quickly but lacking so much, from choice of beans to salsa. I didn't ask but seemed from the menu on the wall that salsa was $0.50, on top of the $13+ super burrito. The asada meat was dry and did not taste like any burrito I've ever had. The only plus was that it was hot and it was a cold afternoon. Don't venture out here much but def staying away. read more

I thought I'd give this place in the "East Cut" / "Crossing" a try after walking by it many times. I got the asada burrito, and it was good! The flavors were interesting, it was well-built, and just an overall solid burrito. Nothing fancy, nothing amazing, but I liked it. It appeared clean and well-kept inside. There was just one guy there to do everything. He took the order quickly and while multi-tasking a couple of other orders, completed my order within a few minutes.
