Do I ever end up here sober? Nope, but their servers are excellent, funny, & patient, and they stick to their policy: if you're so drunk you're falling asleep at the table, you will be asked to leave. (I came here with a guy who was falling asleep, and I kept shaking him awake because I was soo hungry.) I, oddly enough, don't indulge in the drunk breakfast menu. I go with the philly cheesesteak with the green peppers & onions with a side of tater tots. The tots have been warm & crunchy every time. I try to finish my side first since those take more time to salvage. If I'm still hungry, I devour half of the philly cheesesteak, which by the way, is already sliced in half for you. The bread is surprisingly delicious: warm, toasty, soft on the inside, and a light crunch on the outside. White American cheese is melted on top, but I'm drunk & happy with this order at night as well as when I finish eating it the next morning. The process to pay for your bill is the same as iHOP- take it to the front register. There's never an issue when splitting checks, and you get checked out fairly quickly. The place is clean, safe, and efficient for being a 24/7 joint. read more

This place is pretty much a local version of IHOP. Open 24/7 with some local flavor-the salty ham and a couple of southern style provisions but really the vast majority of the menu is the basic breakfast and junk food variety. The parking lot is older and the tables are dining hall quality. The service was pretty much just like an IHOP. Food is edible and the convenience factor of being open 24/7 is nice. Not a bad place to visit for a generic breakfast. read more

My family and I were looking for catfish while visiting VA Beach and this was listed as the #1 restaurant so we decided to give it a try. It was AWESOME! Our server (with the colorful hair) was extremely nice and attentive to our party of 8. Our food came out promptly and hot and it was all very good!!! It is a very basic diner but it was clean and comfortable. They even noticed we were cold and adjusted the temperature without anyone asking. That was very courteous of them. I should have taken a picture of the massive amount of food that came to our table. The food was good, the waitress was super nice and service was fast. I have a habit of asking my waitress(no matter where I'm at) what the recommend and she passed the vibe check. I ordered what she recommended and I was not disappointed at all. Don't skip on the home fries. They were fried to perfection. We got way more food for our money than we expected. We will be back next time we are in town. read more

Been here over 7 years (military). Ricks was one of the first places we ate at. Family owned by good people. I have been posting pics of their food for years. Its our go to here. No matter what you order, you will get full. Kid friendly so its a great family safe place to go. Breakfast lunch and dinner all the time. Service is always the best. If i had any complaint, it would be that they are no longer open 24/7 due to covid. If you dont try ricks at least once, youre just kinda screwing yourself over!!!! read more

My husband brought me here after arriving from a long flight. Must say this place hits the spot! I love he country fried steak, French toast and pancakes. Every time we came here to eat, we were seated right away and our food didn't take long. Once I come back to the VA, this will be my first stop again Totally recommend read more

We came in during a late night- went by the yelp reviews..I was hesitant on going in... Preconceived notions.. Whatever I thought- I was wrong. We was immediately greeted by Karen, who had the most AMAZING unicorn color hair...her greeting put me at ease, glad we stayed. Coffee was great- the ribs was better than I expected- portions were great and I didn't need a micro loan to pay for it all! Next time we visit VB area- will definitely return! read more

When you pass by here it does not look like much. But if you are one of the few brave enough to walk in you will be reward. When walking in you can enjoy the beautiful sailor themed decor. When it comes time to order you will be shocked at the politeness of the employs. Food comes in big proportions compared to rival business. Kathrines dessert of the day is so good. My trip involved me trying salted Carmel chocolate cake at $6 a slice it is worth just a little to salty for my taste. read more

Nothing special. I go there once in a while for lunch when get tired of other places. Grilled chicken not bad. Sometimes getting wings. They taste good but always feel weird after words. Fells like they don't change fry oil too often. Just my opinion. Some kind of down scale ihop. Good thing they are open 24/7. But little bit pricey for quality. read more

Rick's Cafe promises homemade food and they delivered. A delicious meal from start to finish. Fried foods were properly prepared and not served in a pool of grease. My Reuben was superb made with marble rye and perfect amount of Thousand Island. Tater tots were served crispy just as I requested. My girlfriend's flounder was excellent and her entree was served with generous portions. It's a little out of the way and a very casual atmosphere but the food is well prepared. The staff is very friendly and attentive. read more

I have no complaints about our breakfast experience at Rick's. We were looking for a good home style breakfast and they delivered. We ordered eggs over easy and they were cooked to perfection. They pancakes were amazing, my bacon was the right amount of crispy and the potatoes (needed a pinch of salt but once added) were delicious. The coffee was good and fresh. Our server made sure to keep our mugs full and was very friendly. It was a great way to start our morning. read more

Rick's Cafe is one of the most delectable restaurants to visit in Virginia Beach. There is never a huge wait and there are always people ready to serve you. You come and seat yourself and get ready to order. I enjoy there breakfast the most but they have a variety of different savory meals. This restaurant is one of the few very good restaurants away from all the tourism. Ricks Cafe is a pleasant yet tasteful experience I hope you try in your visit. read more

Came here on my lunch break, was told to sit anywhere only problem is all the empty tables were still dirty. Found one table in the back and we were harassed by flies. Finally had to switch tables because of the flies. Sat waiting for 50 minutes with only drinks. Finally the food came out when it's time for me to go back to work. Asked for it in to go containers and the check. At no point were we acknowledged or that it would take a while for the food. Stood waiting to pay and the server #61(no name..may have been the asst mgr) is having an attitude with me telling me about the $200 to go over that came in before I got there and mumbling under her breath like I couldn't hear her... At no point did she come back to us while seated, offered no apology for it taking that long, just ignored us. So apparently my $30-$40 tab was not important. No worries I will not be coming back here again. read more

Ricks is a good little local spot if you're ever in the mood for a mom and pop style diner with great food and friendly staff. This has been one of my favorite places to frequent for a few years now and I try to go pretty regularly. They have the same menu all day, which means breakfast is always available. The coffee is good too! I love little hole in the wall places like this and it's open 24/7 so you can swing in whenever and grab a good tasty hot bite to eat any time of the year. 5/5. I'd recommend this place to anyone and I've even brought friends and family here and they all loved it! read more

Ice cold breakfast. Two small not made fresh pancakes where so cold that the butter even with force refused to melt. I had to dip my knife in hot coffee to try and cover the prepackaged pancakes so they had some kind of taste. The waitress told me I should have send them back to the kitchen to get nuked. No way I'm not that dumb to make the cook angry. read more

1st time eating here and the food and service was excellent! From the time we were greeted in the parking lot by a very high spirited, sweet lady til the very end. I have a new breakfast spot and it's open 24 hours!! There was no wait at Sunday brunch time. I had pancakes, sausage, home fries, eggs and sausage gravy. The portions are huge and it is the best sausage gravy I've tasted in the 7 cities. My plate was $8! I will be revisiting- highly recommend! read more

Been living at the beach for a couple years & just learned about Ricks! What a GREAT SURPRISE! I actually went here, alone, which I never do, at about 12:30--1am. The employees were amazingly nice & did treat me like they've known me for years! Very well taken care of, checked on. I ordered the most amazing French Toast & Sausage w/coffee. Hearty Texas toast type about 8 half slices, and 3 sausage. Excellent!! Coffee was great as well. I cook so I'm picky. I will MosDef be back to try Ricks other items. I was really impressed and glad I found this new BF! read more

I stopped by Rick's Cafe for lunch while traveling through the Hampton Roads area. I had been there a few times when I lived in Virginia Beach 20 years ago, often stopping by after spending evenings at the oceanfront. It was not crowded during lunch. The wait staff was very friendly and responsive. Drink orders and menu orders were quickly taken. The lunch menu was a deal for what I would spend on a value meal at a fast food restaurant I got a plate full of food. I ordered the chicken fried chicken. The food came out fast and was very good. The dining area was clean and I really enjoyed my visit. I highly recommend Rick's Cafe, the service, environment, and food was fantastic. read more

Went to get Flounder at lunchtime since was in the area. Once again the best I have had with in 100 miles. My son from Alabama has eaten Flounder here and agrees was the best he can remember ever having. If you can stop in or get take out, do so for all the food is very good to great! More than worth the drive. read more

Used to be a favorite place to eat, but last few times service has been very poor. Waitress doesn't check back, coffee and water empty for extended period of time. Had to ask the hostess outside for assistance in getting our bill. The older waitress is great, just hope you don't get stuck with the manager's daughter, you'd be better serving yourself! read more

I was here again last weekend with a party of seven --- including three children --- and I wanted to add a special cudo to Rick's servers, and their service in general. Some diners aren't willing or able to handle larger groups, but Rick's took it all in stride; did a great job of keeping the food coming and the empty plates removed and the table clean, and just treated us very well and made us feel very welcome. Our omelets came out and were huge and full of ingredients. I had no complaints. The eggs on the eggs benedict were a little over done but the rest of the plate was perfect so it didn't bother my daughter at all. Overall everything was really good and when we were leaving there was a wait so I'm glad we got there early. We will most definitely be back!!

I'll probably just ask for 1 refill on my 1 drink that I bought and divided for mt small children . She arguing me and it was to the point that I'd rather just hit have the drink . Then with a laugh she says "okay I can give you refills . " the whole encounter was strange and inappropriate and unnecessary. It made the whole finding experience afterwards strange and uncomfortable . So disappointing . We will Not be returning .

My only complaints which are very minimal -- #1: there was fresh squeezed OJ listed on the menu but is no longer served and I'm a sucker for fresh squeezed so it immediately grabbed my attention; and #2: I wish I'd known I could do half grits and potatoes - I should've asked, but I overheard a local/regular customer ask for that after I'd already gotten my plate of food in front of me. But 100% satisfied with the grits, so no complaints with what I ordered and ate, just would've liked to try the potatoes, too!

The homemade sausage gravy over a fresh biscuit, topped with eggs, cheese, and bacon, was rich, flavorful, and comforting without being overly heavy. The seasoned home fries were perfectly cooked and complemented the meal well. We also tried the 185 Cheeseburger, and it was equally impressive. The burger was juicy, cooked exactly right, served on a fresh brioche bun, and topped with fresh ingredients and a delicious smoky mayo. The service was friendly and attentive, the food arrived hot, and the portions were generous. You can tell the staff takes pride in both the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. It's easy to see why this restaurant continues to win local awards. If you're anywhere near Yorktown or Newport News, 185 Restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back! Since they were out of the malasadas, I decided to order the banana latte instead. I'd give it about a 7/10. For context, I'm always searching for a great banana latte because I love flavored coffee. One thing that frustrates me is when coffee shops advertise flavors like cookie butter, lemon pound cake, or red velvet, but the drink just ends up tasting like sweet coffee with no real trace of the advertised flavor. I was pleasantly surprised because this latte actually tasted like banana. It wasn't the best banana latte I've ever had that title still belongs to one I had in Las Vegas but it was definitely one of the better ones I've tried. The only reason it wasn't rated higher is because I noticed a sugary base flavor that overpowered the coffee a little for me. I personally prefer flavored lattes where I mainly taste the coffee cut with milk and the featured flavor heavily, not just sweetness. That's purely my preference. The fact that I finished the entire drink says a lot. I've had plenty of flavored coffees that I couldn't even finish because I disliked them so much. This wasn't one of those. I enjoyed it, and I definitely didn't regret ordering it. Now...the real star of the visit was the lumpia. It was AMAZING. Crispy, flavorful, and easily some of the best lumpia I've had. I actually tried another lumpia spot recently, and while it was decent, Ohana & Co.'s lumpia completely won me over. It's honestly the reason I'll be back. I have an eye appointment in the area next week, and I'm already planning another stop. I'll definitely be ordering the lumpia again, and this time I'm hoping they have the banana malasadas because that's what I originally came for. I also want to try one of their platters. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend giving Ohana & Co. a try. The customer service was wonderful, the café was clean, the banana latte was one of the better ones I've had, and the lumpia alone is worth the drive.

Our server Taylor was super friendly and kind. My husband and I started out with a drink. He got the key lime pie crush and I got the lemon crush. We both enjoyed them and the key lime pie drink really did taste like the dessert. For food we started with the crab dip which was good. My husband got the Crabby Smash which is a smash burger with a crab cake and he said it had good flavor. I had the fried shrimp which was delicious and I got broccoli and mashed potatoes as the sides. The sides were ok but the shrimp were wonderful with a light breading and great cocktail sauce.

I chose Yu Xiang Pork as my entree, which my waitress said was one of the top two favorites along with the pork belly. She said she would give the Yu Xiang Pork the edge. She was right because I loved this dish! I like heat and this offered heat. I like varied texture and this had a range of textures. The cherry on top for this visit (No, I didn't get an ice cream sundae.) was the warm thank you's PLURAL that I received from the people up front as I left. Their smiles were beaming at me and they genuinely made me feel like they were happy I came in for a $16 lunch. I said with a wink that I was going to the kitchen to see if they would provide the same smiles of thanks and was told that they would (No, I didn't go to find out.). Clearly a great team serving delicious food in an awesome setting made me wish I lived in Virginia Beach but then I stepped outside into the heat, humidity and hectic world that this FIVE STAR restaurant named Wang Jiang Lou made me forget about for an hour.

Last weekend on July 2nd, some friends and I entered Rick's Cafe to enjoy some pizza after going out for a few drinks that evening. We were greeted rudely and unprofessionally by one of the cashiers and promptly told we needed to leave due to the presence of one of the individuals in our party. Said individual had been part of an altercation the weekend earlier, and when I say altercation, SHE was verbally attacked by one of VBs drunk "fave" MALE bartenders openly and abusively in front of a restaurant full of people. She was so taken aback she left quietly without causing a scene. This "scene" is the reason we were asked to leave. Thank you Rick's Cafe, and I'll make it clear to everyone in Virginia Beach that you allow grown men to verbally attack tiny women and not only do nothing about it, but unprofessionally refuse service a week later to decent, non-scene causing, paying customers. read more

I ended up getting the honey first from someone else who brought it over because she forgot my tea for some time before even noticing. The honey came in a little sealed jar. I asked her, when she finally brought my tea, if I had to pay for the honey. She told me it was 1.75 for it! She could tell I was shocked and got huffy-puffy with me and said, "What, you don't want your tea now?" and I told her I did, but I never opened the honey because I was catching on to what she was doing. I eventually told her to take the honey jar back, and I would use sugar instead. When we asked her for boxes, she brought them to us and just stood there, interrupting our conversation, forcing us to check out right then and there! It was super uncomfortable... I was feeling suspicious of her, so I asked to see my receipt because she obviously wasn't planning on giving me one. She wanted me to pay directly on her toast tablet and do it immediately because she was just awkwardly standing there! And as I asked for a receipt, we told her we wanted to split the pancake we shared because we were paying separately. She became noticeably agitated and said she wouldn't be able to print my receipt then.. which didn't make any sense at all. My friend and I both used those toast tablets at prior serving jobs, we knew she was being fishy. We told her just don't split it then, bring us receipts. She brought them with an attitude and bad energy and walked away. I was charged for the salsa and sour cream she OFFERED me without letting me know they were an upcharge! My home fries came out burnt, and the burrito had absolutely no flavor. I didn't even use the sour cream; I was debating asking for a manager and getting it off my bill... but my friend and I figured if she has been here this long with that kind of service, management obviously doesn't care and is in on the scheming behavior too. I DID NOT tip her, because she was being deceptive the entire time. I did not ASK for sour cream and salsa; she offered it to me and never let me know it was an upcharge. Her attitude is also a big factor in why she did not get a tip from me, and I'm usually a 20 percent or more tipper. She also quickly turned it away from me when I was signing the tablet and mumbled something again, then went over to another waitress, and i could visibly see her talking crap about me. I tried to call and talk to a manager, but you can't call to talk to anyone; they don't even have a welcoming voicemail! I will NEVER EVERRRRRRRRR go back to this place, and I will tell everyone I know about the experience too. Stay away from this soul-sucking place!

We were approaching Farmers Market on Princess Ann Rd and Dam Neck Rd and remembered The Princess Ann County Cafe, we turned into the Farmers Market parking lot and saw sign in Princess Ann County Cafe window saying OPEN. We parked and was welcomed in by owners wife as she was helping out as their morning waitress was not feeling well. I shared that I knew that the resturant had closed but was not aware they had reopened .. wife and myself sat down and made our breakfast requests and it arrived in a few minutes tasting as good as it use to taste when the Princess Ann County Cafe was open before. The resturant has daily "BLUE PLATE" specials and a nice variety of regular menu items to select from. Knowing Princess Ann County Cafe is open again, will make the trip to Princess Ann County Cafe more often. In fact, I have contacted several friends. Inside is cute and charming, we were seated at a spacious booth by the window and it was light and airy inside. Our waitress was prompt with the drink order and brought us both breakfast and lunch menus just in case. I saw several items I wanted to try - like a breakfast sandwich, omelette, lunch sandwiches, salads, and their daily special which was country fried steak. YUM. Their Blue Plate Specials for the week was loaded with savories that sounded good: country-fried steak, homemade lasagna, homemade meatloaf, etc. etc. You get it. My father-in-law would love it. My friend ordered the club salad with fries and loved it and I ordered the egg salad with potato salad as my side. Very good egg salad and the potato salad was delicious. I saw several things I'd love to come back and try and their prices are fair and selection is good. This isn't fine dining but it was good. And this is a cute little place in the Farmer's Market area. Service was good but not great, and it was a nice place to add to bring friends and family when in town who don't want to spend a ton and want a good meal.

Anytime you have to have a microwave IN THE SITTING AREA to warm your food that JUST came out of the kitchen , that's a red flag, My order was simple--toast no butter. There are NO VEGAN OPTIONS on the menu, so I made do. What I received was toast slathered in butter. Did I eat? No. Am I still hungry? Yes. I had a lemon slice off the edge of my mom's water as my meal. In fairness to our waitress, we were a LARGE group of 14. To compile various meals of that magnitude is not easy. Too many items, however came out incomplete, wrong, cold, and tasteless. The grits--were like white, muddy water. And we had MORE than one order of them. How can you make grits taste like, well NOTHING!? They were tasteless and cold--and even the cheese on the grits did not improve the taste. The side of ham never actually appeared with the rest of the meal. Once my husband ate ALL of his meal, the ham finally arrived. The burger was good though, so in fairness, I should mention the good if I am going to talk about the bad. This will be our last visit. We have been coming here for YEARS, but the lack of quality of food and arrival time of our food to the table is not worth the money we paid. We will not return.

The receipt actually says Scandals, appropo since I feel scandalized!!!!
