If you like sweet drinks, this place is definitely for you. The shop itself is small but cute, and it's no surprise it gets packed since it's all over social media. Parking is street only, and finding a spot in Koreatown--especially on weekends--can be a challenge, so plan ahead. As for the drinks, they were very sweet--so much so that we had to water them down. If you're sensitive to sweetness, I'd recommend asking for it less sweet. That said, the staff was friendly and the experience was still worth trying at least once. Really cute coffee and tea shop. We had to park super far and walk to visit. The inside is very esthetically pretty. The staff was helpful with questions I had. I would say it's a great grab and go spot because the inside is on the smaller side and apparently many have found out about the yummy drinks because there was a lot of visitors when Ib went. I went back to Rok Cafe again this Monday afternoon, March 16th. I had really enjoyed their Black Sesame Mugwort drink before, so I wanted to try it again with My Mom. It still tasted good, but this time it was a bit too sweet and thick, probably because they added too much cream. Also, when I was about to place my order, the card machine suddenly ran out of paper right in front of me. They had to replace it, and the person who went to get the paper took quite a while to come back, so I ended up waiting for a while before ordering. The cashier kept apologizing several times for the delay, but I told her it was okay and not her fault, and that I didn't mind waiting. She was very kind, which I really appreciated. Even though the drink was a bit too sweet and too thick this time. Overall, it was good, but I hope next time it's not too thick or overly sweet. read more

I really enjoy matcha lattes, and a friend of mine recommended trying one from here. I've passed by it before, and it always seems to have long lines, but the line moves at an okay pace (prob waited 15-20 min starting from outside, at the same latitude as the cash register :P). Even with a lot of ppl waiting inside for their drinks (while others were just hanging out w/ their drinks or doing work), I got mine in 8 min (time btwn getting my receipt texted to me and picking up my drink). I got the Matcha Duo (w/ oat milk), since that seemed most popular/their staple, and kept the default sweetness level to get a baseline. As someone who likes things less sweet (very Asian palette; also why I like matcha), I loved this rich drink! Very matcha-y, and everything blended together so smoothly (: P.S. I am an amateur matcha enthusiast, and Rōk has been on my list of places to try when I come to visit LA. It did not disappoint! We got there around 9-10AM on a Saturday and although the line was not terribly long, it did move quite efficiently. Between my brother and I, we ordered the Strawberry Matcha Duo and the Matcha Duo. I liked that there was a sign at the front with instructions on how to properly enjoy their Duo drinks (basically you sip and taste the cream top first and then mix it all together). The taste of both drinks were quite delicious! You could taste the matcha flavor and it wasn't too sweet. I wish I had more opportunities to try their other menu offerings, but I guess I will just have to return on my next trip to LA. The ambience was quite nice, with the flowering tree in the middle of the seating area. There were plenty of spots to sit and chat--it seems more amenable to hanging out with friends rather than getting some work done, but I'm sure you could manage the latter if you really wanted to. read more

I got half sweet which was perfect as it was not overly sweet, so the tea flavor really came through. The Biscoff matcha was the highlight with a kick of 2 espresso shot with rich cookie butter. I stopped by after an early flight from LAX, and luckily it wasn't busy at all. I ordered the Matcha Duo with oat milk, and it was absolutely scrumptious. I debated whether to leave this review on Lasung Tofu House's page or Rōk's. Ultimately, I felt it was more appropriate to share it here. I genuinely love Rōk. I regularly order at least three drinks at a time and frequently recommend it to friends and family. Unfortunately, our experience on January 2nd between 4-5 PM fell well below expectations. We decided to have an early dinner at Lasung, which is located next to Rōk, and asked beforehand how to order Rōk drinks through the restaurant so we wouldn't need to wait in the long line outside. We were told that once the order was placed, we would receive a text notification when the drinks were ready. That text never came. After waiting about 40 minutes, we went to check on our order and discovered that the drinks had been sitting on the counter for over 20 minutes. Before trying the drinks, we asked an employee if they could be remade if something was off, and we were told yes. However, when we noticed a clear difference in taste and returned, the shift manager refused to remake them and stated, verbatim, that "it was on us for not checking sooner." The shift manager's response felt rude and dismissive. We followed the instructions we were given and waited for a text notification that never arrived, so being blamed for the delay was frustrating and unfair. While there seems to have been a breakdown in communication between Lasung and Rōk regarding the ordering process, the way the situation was handled--particularly by the shift manager--left a very negative impression. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as this experience was disappointing from a place I normally enjoy and support. read more

I came back here on a rainy day because I was craving a creamy matcha drink. I was thinking about getting the strawberry matcha, but when I ordered, I automatically asked for the Matcha Duo since it was so good the first time I tried it. And it was still just as good! I arrived right at opening time at 8 AM, and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was waiting outside about 3-5 minutes before they opened, and one of the female staff members came out and kindly invited me to wait inside since it was cold and windy. My favorite spot to get matcha in LA! We all got the duo matcha and it's so creamy, nicely sweetened, and has a good matcha taste. Service is always quick and easy, and the inside of the shop is just a nice spot to relax and hangout with friends. I always order the duo matcha, but I've also tried their fruit matcha (mango, strawberry, and blueberries), and I'm not entirely sure what they use, but it tastes refreshing and not artificial. I love this place! There's a huge tree inside the shop as well as a free booth for photos! The workers here are really patient, bless them because the lines are always outside the door. I've been here multiple times, and I'd have to say that their drinks are definitely on the sweeter side. Specifically their strawberry matcha [7/10], yummy matcha, but will definitely get it at. 50% sweet next time. As well as their coconut matcha [8/10], less sweet than the strawberry one, but again, would get it with less sugar next time. I say sadly because I'm from out of town, the lines here can be intense, and parking is horrific because it's such a busy street + hard to cross the street (you have to walk pretty far even if you found a spot to park ). However, I think if you're brave enough to come here, you won't be disappointed! The matcha quality is 10/10z the drinks are extremely rich & decadent in the best way. The first time I tried coming here, the line wrapped around the block and I wasn't trying to wait that long so I left. But today I came at 1pm and there was no wait. So I guess that's the hack, come on a weekday in the middle of the day. We got the matcha duo which was super matcha-y & rich, and the mugwort duo. It was our first time having mugwort and in this drink, it tastes like a matcha chrysanthemum tea which was such a nice treat. The matcha latte was rich and silky, with a smoother and more earthy texture thanks to the matcha cream top. It seemed like the serving cup was small. It would be nice to have a 24 oz cup instead! If I remember correctly, it's $25 for 4 pieces and $7 for a single cookie. For parking, the best option is the paid valet lot one block away. It's only $7. A lot of tow away and security around the area. The cafe is also connected to a tofu soup restaurant, which I definitely want to try next time. The inside of the cafe itself was decent. The matcha is high quality, but for almost $10 and a tiny cup, it's not worth it to me. I enjoy my homemade matcha just as much, for much less. However, I do think it's important to mention that personally, when I spend money on matcha, I'm looking for something that I wouldn't be able to replicate at home. Rating like a 3.5. Rok was a spot I really wanted to try while visiting LA and I think it's a solid spot. Lines were long, but moved quicker than expected + servers were kind. I got the Matcha Duo upon the recommendation of my friend. And I do agree that the matcha itself was smooth and strong, which is always a plus. However, I think it was too sweet (and I like my drinks on the sweeter side) and I wish I would've been asked if I wanted to make any sweetness adjustments at the counter, as I didn't know this was an option. Also, something about the matcha itself tasted different (maybe more floral? maybe more spiced?) which I couldn't put my finger on, but not necessarily in a bad way.
