Roll House is located off of El Camino Real in proximity to many other Korean restaurants. Roll House stands apart from other Korean restaurant with their specialty being kimbap or korean rolls. With other tasty options on their menu such as ramen, rice cakes, chicken wings, and rice plates, Roll House takes the win in variety of Korean comfort foods. The banchan includes: fried fishcake, kimchi, pickled radish, and beansprouts. The fish cake was overly saturated by the sesame oil. It felt heavy and unappetizing. The kimchi was delicious- crunchy, spicy, and not too sour. The pickled radish was refreshingly cold, salty, with a hint of sweetness. The beansprouts were tasty and complemented all of our dishes. Kimbap combo: 2/5 We opted for the tuna(3.5/5), spicy pork(2/5), and beef (2/5). First impression: wow, the rolls are HUGE. Each cut is large so its difficult to eat all in one bite. The aesthetics were beautiful however, the taste wasn't all there. The tuna roll wasn't bad. The mayo to tuna ratio was lacking so the tuna was dry as the Sahara. The spicy pork and beef were incredibly dry and lacking in any flavor at all- no sauce, no seasoning, just very bland meat. The lettuce in the roll felt like an odd addition and I would prefer it without it. Kimchi fried rice: 4/5 The fried rice was super tasty and the portion was quite large. The sesame flavors with the spicy kimchi blended beautifully. My only complaint would be the dish would be much much better with some meat whether its ham, spam, or bacon. The fried egg adds a nice creamy texture with the seaweed topping adding a tasty umami flavor. Dukboki and ramen: 4/5 The sauce was very thick and had a nice kick to it. That sauce just pairs so nicely with everything. However, it did make the ramen feel a bit heavy. The rice cakes were cooked well and held onto the flavor of the red sauce. Perhaps the best part of our meal was the refreshingly cold iced tea they served. It comes in small stainless steel cups and just washes everything down so nicely. Service was not as bad considering how packed it was when we arrived. The restaurant is quite small and the food took nearly 20 minutes to come out. The interior is cute with cloud paintings on the ceiling and "dreams come true" quotes posted everywhere along the walls. Absolutely underrated!! I freakin LOVE Roll House! Comfort food that's made to absolute perfection. And very vegetarian friendly too! I don't know what more you could ask for. The restaurant decor is darling, the employees are nice, and most of the other guests are Korean locals. Plenty of parking. Portions are large and the ingredients are super fresh. Seriously it's such a good deal for proper Korean food. Their rolls (Gimbap) is what makes them special, as suggested by their name. A single roll will range from $9-$12 and they're BIG! Filled to the brim with different pickles, veggies, protein and rice. Topped with toasted sesame seeds. My go-tos are the veggie roll and the fried shrimp roll, both are awesome. Fun fact - omurice is from Japan but it's also a popular dish in Korea! This is a very standard Korean omurice and it's delicious, very authentic. I've gone multiple times over the past years with family and it's a place I take my friends to whenever we're in the San Jose/Santa Clara area. It has all the best Korean comfort food with great quality. The star of this place are their kimbap/rolls, I mean just look at them! They were so tasty and filling. The only deduction is the staff and service. Nobody here is very happy looking and the service feels rushed. The ladies all watch you from the cash register and you're often making eye contact. Didn't realize the three combo rolls set did not include fried shrimp (tempura) or fried pork. The lady taking my order got kinda annoyed with me and comes off as rude during pick up, but the second visit was better. Just gotta be straight forward and stay kind. Rolls are affordable! I think the beef was $7.50 for 10 pieces and shrimp $8.50? Rolled/sliced so neatly! First order took 20-25 min: 2 beef bulgogi rolls & 1 fried shrimp roll 1 fried shrimp roll & 1/2 kimchi 1/2 beef roll Second order took 10-15 min: 1 shrimp & 1 beef Had a rough day the second visit, so kimbap plus Teaspoon helped me forget the stress. They pack up to three rolls per plastic box plus give kimchi and Danmuji (yellow pickled radish) as side dishes. Omg the shrimp roll blew our minds! I'm so used to sushi but all the Korean ingredients plus honey mustard just tied everything together. The beef roll is a classic, just a bit bland. Add some kimchi. Roll house never disappoints.. I've tried most of the rolls here and some of my favorites are fried shrimp, beef, and spicy pork. Their seafood pancake is not bad but I've liked their other dishes like cheese tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and zol men (cold spicy noodles) a lot! Every dish is a generous serving and hits the spot. Roll house is my all time favorite place for my kimbap and tteokbokki fix. I was so sad when it was closed during the pandemic so I'm so glad that it's back! The workers are always extremely kind and attentive. Parking is usually easy to find and I never have to wait too long to get seated.  I always get the Beef roll, Tuna roll, Spam roll, and/or the Spicy Pork roll. My favorite roll is definitely the Beef roll. The Tteokbokki is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. I typically add ramen noodles for an additional $3. The meal comes with a few side dishes but it seems like they got rid of a lot of side dishes that they had pre pandemic. I also believe the prices got higher but I understand because of the pandemic. I absolutely love this place! I'd come here everyday if I could. The only reason as to why I'm rating this place 3 stars is because of a worker. When she seated us, the table was still dirty (the restaurant was pretty busy when we came inside around 8 PM on a Friday night). But that was not a problem IMO. As she was setting up the table for us, she dropped a pair of wooden chopsticks (wrapped around paper). When she bent down to pick it up, SHE PUT IT ON TOP OF MY NAPKIN AND WALKED AWAY??? That was extremely unsanitary and irresponsible of her. Especially since the chopsticks touched the group, it went on top of my napkin, spreading even more bacteria. I wanted to call on her again but she was too quick and had already disappeared from the scene. Food in general is hands down a 5/5. my friend and I have gotten the combo deal, where you get three rolls for $21. It was worth it! The filling we have gotten were spicy pork, bulgogi and spam (uncooked). For the rice cakes, we had gotten cheese with ramen (add on - $3). By the way, they go hella ham and extreme with the portions. You're going to have to activate your second stomach if you want to bring no leftovers home! Side dishes were: kimchi, pickled radish, fishcakes and bean sprouts. It was all fine but I thought that the fishcakes were a bit too hard. The rolls are made fresh to order! It is a really quaint, little hole-in-the wall type of place right next to Pho Hoa on El Camino. I like to come here for the vegetarian and beef rolls. Their soups and sides are are also good. It is limited when it comes to the traditional Korean sides, I think it came with 4: Kimchee, pickled ginger, bean sprouts and fish cake pieces. I'm giving them a 3.5- if there was anything I could suggest, it would be to lessen the chemical smell of their cleaning products. When we come on Sunday after church, I'm not sure if it is due to the time we come but it always has a strong, over-powering smell of chemicals. I appreciate that it is clean and bright. Also, there seems to only be one server and I feel bad for her because she can get so busy where you see customers waiting. This is my favorite Korean restaurant in town. The kimbap is amazing, always fresh and delicious and perfect. We have been going here for years and only recently discovered the deliciousness that is the fried shrimp roll. The cheese roll is my personal favorite, but you won't be disappointed in whatever flavor you choose. We also are completely obsessed with their tteokbokki. It is SO good. You can order them with so much variety, you can get them with cheese or ramen, and you can also get them sizzling on a hot steel plate, which is a spectacular way to serve. The service is always attentive and fast. They have refilled our banchan without us even asking for it, before we even noticed we needed it. Their takeout is always perfect and packaged neatly. There can be a bit of a wait at times when they are busy but it is absolutely worth every minute. The restaurant interior is cozy and friendly, and it feels a lot more laid back than a lot of the other restaurants in the area. I enjoy watching the Korean television programming they play and I have always felt at ease and invited here. You *must* try this restaurant! It is great. read more

In all of my years of living in Santa Clara I didn't start going here until recently. I would always go to this plaza since I was a kid. I literally went to every spot exept this place. Man I was missing out. best kimbap in town, and tofu soup. Place is a little small, so if it gets packed you would have to wait. It seems like a lot of people get this place doordashed, or take out. I don't think you can go wrong with the kimbap here. Which ever one you choose, it will be good. I always go for the kimbap combo with beef, spam, and tuna. I also like to get some variation of some soup. Last time I was here I got cheese ramen, which I was hoping to get this last time I went, but I didn't see it on the menu anymore. So I ended up getting the beef tofu soup, another one of my go to's. I don't live in the area anymore, but whenever I am down here, visiting my parent's or whenever I see if I can stop by this place and get a roll or two of kimbap. For the rolls, we decided on the tuna, kimchi, and spicy pork. The amount of food we ordered could easily feed four to five people, or three ravenously hungry individuals.... so keep these portions in mind. The tteokbokki was delicious and delightfully cheesy. The sauce is the right consistency where it's thick enough to coat the rice cakes without being toooooo thick. It's not too spicy and the well of sauce is perfect for dipping kimbap in!
