I've passed by this place many a times with my wife, and every time we did we would both say "Burgers and Donuts??". Well we finally tried it - and let me tell you...it's amazing! I noticed a few weeks back that they've added more exciting sides such as sweet potato fries, curly fries and onion rings. Haven't tried the curly fries yet, but the onion rings are to die for. Absolutely friggin' amazing! Beer-battered goodness. Sweet potato fries -- would've been better off going to Trader Joe's and throwing them in the oven myself (so far the only new blah experience there outside of one recently sad, stale sugar twist donut out of the year or so I've been frequenting the place). But, if you feel like onion rings or wanna up your combo -- do it, you'll die happy! ;) read more

I wanted to like this place. I've seen the amazing reviews and people talking all about it on San Clemente life Facebook page. I've been here a few times and frankly I'm not impressed. The two different breakfast burritos I had, one was California something (I forgot) the other I think a county breakfast burrito. Both were very basic and quite small. I'm aware of many places that I can pay 4 dollars for an equivalent version of these breakfast burritos but much larger. Also came in plastic. The donuts. Their selection is small as they are limited in space (understandably) but they aren't exactly Amazing. I don't have problems with them really, but I prefer when my donuts are more pastry ish. Flakey almost. I would say that roses donuts are similar to Dunkin donuts. I will give props for the adorable to go box for the donuts and the coffee. I kept telling myself that it was a "bad day" when I went. The staff wasn't overly enthusiastic or rude just meh. Everything, the food/price/atmosphere was meh. Sadly I write this review now as I think I've decided to not come here anymore. If you live very close by and are deciding on whether to go to Dunkin or here, definitely go here though, here has similar donuts to Dunkin but I'd say that here, you get slightly better donuts than Dunkin. I would give Rose's 4 or 5 stars on other times I have visited but today was not a good day at all. Customer service goes a long way and today there was absolutely NONE. I had a craving to get a tuna sandwich so I called in the order. I exaggerated my voice when I said "EVERYTHING" on it And can you please add mustard? He says ok see you in a few minutes. I get there and pick up my sandwich and notice there's absolutely nothing on it. I said Oh, Where is the lettuce and the tomato and the pickle? The nice kid says that's not how we make this sandwich. I said I've ordered the sandwich here before and it comes with everything even avocado. He says oh that's the club tuna. I said ah, well can you take it back and have them add lettuce, tomato and pickle. He says ok then the "FRIENDLY" manager of the day says "NO, we would have to remake the entire sandwich so you have to buy this one and the new one we make you." I don't want to make a scene because it's a busy morning. I said, "Oh you don't have to remake the sandwich. You can just add in lettuce, tomato and pickle." He says no we have to remake the sandwich so I have to pay for two. I said, "ok let me just have this one I guess" I pay over $9 for it. I get in my car. I open up the sandwich and it's literally a big plop of wet mayo tuna in between two toasted slices and I got very irritated that I didn't get what I paid for and what I imagined what I was getting and that the manager would not help just fix this minor situation. I took the sandwich back to them and said this is not what I wanted and left. I called Roses to explain why I returned the sandwich. I told him that I was so disappointed at his lack of care to fix a situation, I told him when I ordered the sandwich I said everything on it (not plain) I said he should care about customer service and you know he said to me....one drawn out word, "sorrrrry" Wow. Customer service means a lot and today there was ZERO. Yes, are there bigger problems in the world, sure. Thought I would share my experience this AM. Hopefully they get it right for the next customer spending their money at this place. read more

Well not at Rose's also I am addicted to their breakfast burritos which are huge and priced starting @ $5.95. My hubby and I share it and always regret not getting our own. I've never actually had a donut at Rose Donut shop, but their burgers and sandwiches are awesome and pretty cheap to boot. I've been going there since I was in high school and have never been disappointed. The service is always friendly and the food is always tasty. Came here on a Sunday on the way back from San Diego, it was a great little pitstop to make for lunch. We tried the burgers and bought a full order of donut holes. The price of the dozen donuts made my heart drop a bit because I was not expecting to pay that much for the volume I was purchasing. Last time I went, understandably, it got very busy and they only had one cook, but they forgot about our order. We had ordered second in a swarm of about 14 people. And people who ordered far after us were getting their food before us. When we went up to politely ask about our order, the girl behind the counter responded with "we have one cook and he's doing what he can". It took her a few seconds to realize that our order had been forgotten. We didn't receive any type of verbal apology for the mistake which would have gone a long way for me. This review is just for the donuts. I was at a event where the bride was having donuts instead of a wedding cake. The donuts were presented and they were a variety of crullers and donut holes from Roses's. I expected something phenomenal because they had gone to a special place to acquire these instead of more local donut shops closer to their wedding location. I wasn't impressed. Donut holes looked old and were misshapen with an uneven dusting of candy sprinkles. Crullers didn't look much better, and the taste was just ok. Not sure if I'll ever be able to eat a donut again...I haven't had a donut in several months and my boyfriend got some donuts while he was running errands at Stater Bros.
