CHRISTMAS. RUINED. I get they are busy on Christmas Day. They couldn't pick up the phone the 3 times I called to place a pickup order. No big deal. I drove there to place an order to go and was told 30-45 minutes. I give them the benefit of the doubt and return 45 minutes later. I wait in line to pay for my food. I think I found my new Chinese restaurant! Our family comes from Guangdong Province and the food here matches what we are used to eating in our hometown. And the US version we have had! We will definitely become regular customers. Only advice is broccoli dish was quite small. But everything was really delicious! We had tomato showmen with pan fried noodles. We hoped it would be bigger noodle panfried but it was the small one. Especially because we clicked on panfried as compared to HK style. But that's okay. Flavor matters and this was GOOOOD! Maybe it was an off day, the reviews for this restaurant are so good I feel like I might have just come on a bad day. But, I did not like the food at all. We got two plates one was orange chicken with fried rice and the other was sweet and sour chicken with chow mien. All I know is the only thing me and my husband enjoyed eating was the fried rice. It was superb which is why I gave this review 3 stars. Everything else was a 1 star from us. Unfortunately, the orange chicken was dry and did not have any tang to it. The sweet and sour chicken was even more dry and it was only sweet. It was a very confusing meal. Not a good place. I got mandarin chicken and egg rolls for $15. The egg rolls are just pure cabbage and pepper with no flavor besides the wonton paper. The chicken is mushy and soft and the flavor is gone right after you bite into it. Honestly disappointed and not worth $15 read more

But for me it was still a bust.... The beef and broccoli tasted chalky, like the way it tastes when my mom uses a packet from Ranch 99. Like as if the corn starch didn't get cooked to make the gravy. The rice was hard and dried out.... The string bean with sauce was over sauced and very sweet. Maybe this is how people like this dish. But from my experience, this dish is savory and doesn't taste like a bunch of sweet American bbq sauce. The owner or host that greeted me and took my order was so sweet and kind too. I wanted to like this place, I really did. After all, this is a cute what looks like family owned place conveniently located near Safeway. But I will never return here. Got takeout on a Saturday night, and ordered the Mongolian chicken and chicken chow fun with black bean sauce. Quantity wise, there's a lot of food, which is a plus. The food was bland at best - the Mongolian chicken had good flavor but wasn't spicy at all. It was more sweet than anything, but again the flavor was good. The chicken chow fun was bland and underwhelming and I added some spices on my own to increase the flavor. It was edible. Ate the leftovers the next day however, and discovered a large piece of hard irregularly shaped plastic at the bottom of my chow fun. As I'd eaten my food with chopsticks the night before, that plastic had to have been cooked into my food. Gross. And honestly, my kid and I were sharing the chow fun, so he could have eaten it without realizing what it was. I'm giving this place 2 stars because 1. Found hard plastic cooked into my food 2. The portions are more than generous, we often have enough for another serving each the next day. We are pretty basic with our orders so bear with me LOL. Orange chicken has a delightful fresh citrus flavor, chow mein and fried rice are never greasy/oily, and my personal shout out for the HOT AND SOUR SOUP! Perfectly flavored. The boneless salt and pepper spareribs had good flavor but I missed the bone and had to much breading. Egg fried rice was good but not a fan of the peas and carrots. Honey Walnut Shrimp - never have I seen walnut shrimp made like this EVER. It was just fried jumbo shrimp, which was 80% batter and maybe 20% shrimp. And the sauce wasn't anything to talk about either. Disappointed. Salt and Pepper Shrimp - same battered up torpedo shaped shrimp with the basic msg and jalapeños and garlic. Disappointed again. Salt and Pepper Spareribs - What is with all the batter? Couldn't even eat one cause my stomach was full of flour already. Rose is my go to Chinese food spot. It's a mom and pop restaurant that serve quality food. The portions are huge and the flavor/spices are always on point. The best part is their chicken is white meat! Their dinners come with a piece of fried shrimp, a wonton, and one egg roll. The restaurant is never crowded and orders are done within 12 mins. I live near sac state and have not found a spot that comes close. The services is always great and the staff try their best to remember customers names.
