While visiting here with a friend, we were approached shortly after placing our order telling us that they were only accepting cash payments tonight. This is my first time visiting this restaurant. We asked the server why, assuming there was an issue with the machines, but looking around the restaurant, there was no evidence of anyone else being forced to pay with cash. Another waiter came and explained that we apparently were being profiled due to a previous payment dispute that neither of us had anything to do with! No quality of food will ever be worth being profiled in this way and we almost left. I was permitted to pay with my card after asking on my behalf, but this isn't an example of good customer service for a first time visitor. This is no way to treat customers. You should operate with facts and fairness. I am so disappointed. read more

The lunch buffet is well worth the price of$14 it has hot food as well as a great selection of sushi ! Not just your basic California roll either! The buffet area is a bit tight but follow the directional signs and it won't be a traffic jam.. lol . The patio is a nice atmosphere to do a lunch date or meeting as it's covered and sits higher up not as much noise as you think. Parking is validated so be sure to grab a ticket which is nice here in Atlanta...the fried salmon pieces are my favorite! read more

I'm not sure how this place got so many good reviews. The food was disgusting. The sushi rolls did not taste fresh at all. The chicken fried rice was like a sticky rice also not good and we ended up sending it back. This was not a good experience and we felt nauseous after. There are plenty of good sushi spots around Atlanta but this was not one of them unfortunately. read more

This was my first time at this location. I gave them five stars for a very simple reason..... I had no issues whatsoever with my visit. I was greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. We were led to a seat by the window, despite the sun glaring, the view was nice. We ordered a tapas happy hour dish of shrimp dumplings. OOOOOMMMMGGGG, they are so good!!! I need to find out how they make the accompanying sauce for that dish, Bc that sauce was everything. It was so good that after chewing my second dumpling, I ordered a second tapas of the same thing. For the entree we ordered a katsu tuna roll and katsu salmon roll. Very very well done. The food came out quickly and steaming. In all fairness, I really didn't have any complaints. The waiter offered to give my niece a to-go drink without us having to ask which I appreciated. Definitely would be back!!! Grade: A+ read more

My first time having authentic ramen and it was sooooo good. I forget the name of our waitress but she was sweet and patient w us. She spent time with us at our table helping us with the menu. After she put in our order, we had to change one of the meals and this came with no problem for the kitchen. Definitely going back again. As a vegan, their menu was very accommodating for me. Ru San's is probably my favorite Japanese restaurant within walking distance of the ATV. Why? Pros: 1. Location - Close to the ATV. I do not have to drive to get lunch. 2. Fast (enough)- They are not fast food speed since they are a restaurant....but good enough. I am sure it will help to call ahead if you are picking up your food and getting it to go. 3. Extremely great service. Everyone is super nice here. 4. Portions- Large, generous portions. 5. Quality- Best Japanese food within walking distance of the ATV. 6. My sister and I came in on a Tuesday for lunch. We were extremely delighted to see an all you can eat buffet for only $13.99! The buffet was awesome. It had endless options, with my favorites being ahi tuna poke, salad with ginger dressing, seafood nachos, teriyaki chicken, shrimp tempura, fried rice, and many, many different kinds of sushi. We went right around opening time on a Friday and planned on ordering a regular lunch entree. However, we were surprised with a wonderful buffet for less than $15. All of the food was very fresh and well prepared. Our server was efficient and brought refills before we even asked. As we left, it was starting to get very crowded so come early to beat the crowd! Out of the three Ru San's I've visited in metro Atlanta (the other two being Midtown and Windy Hill), the Ru San's in Buckhead seems the most stylish and sleek. They all try to provide the same trendy atmosphere with loud club music in the background and several TVs playing something -- in this case, anime. There's also a collection of sushi menus for you to sort through to find what you want. The menu selection mostly consists of Ru San's-created sushi rolls which utilize all sorts of wacky ingredients and sauces. I prefer authentic nigiri (with no sauce). Like the other locations, this Ru San's offers an all-you-can-eat sushi lunch buffet, seven days a week, for only $9.95. A great value for sure, but if it's anything like the Midtown or Windy Hill locations' buffets, the quality of the sushi is average at best. I say that because I've only been to Ru San's Buckhead for dinner. I ordered their Protein Builder which, while it cost over $20, was packed with over 20 different pieces of maki (rolls), nigiri, and a hand roll. The dish also included cooked teriyaki chicken. It takes a lot of sushi to fill me up and this plate of sushi was certainly filling, though none of the pieces were terribly delicious. The only good thing about the plate was it was mostly filled with mostly basic sushi pieces and none of Ru San's crazy rolls. This chain is known for its cheap sushi and this location is no exception. You get what you pay for. If you enjoy fresh and truly authentic sushi made the traditional Japanese way, then you probably already know not to come here. read more

Food is pretty good! Ordered the fried pork gyoza- was very fresh and the ginger sauce is on point. Got the chicken & sushi dinner and it was a lot....definitely can be shared. The chicken had a lot of teriyaki sauce so I had to take some off but other than that it was very good. My son got the pork fried rice, had a taste and it was tasty. First time here and I come again. Ru San's is one of my favorite sushi spots in Atlanta. They have very affordable sushi and the service is always great. I have only been to the Buckhead location but have heard good things of the other Atlanta locations. They have a great happy hour sushi menu. Yum Yum sauce and extra spicy mayo is not free. I recommend it for any type of occasion. I wouldn't do it for a business lunch but to each's own. It is in Buckhead near the I-85 exit so the traffic in the area can be rough at times. They have free parking but you will need to get it validated. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE ORIGINAL PARKING TICKET. I always forget. The restaurant is on the top level of the building so it's best to park at the top. read more

The only real reason why I am giving this location two stars is the previous experience at this RuSans. I havent had much luck with them in Athens, GA or in Atlanta, GA...but they try. I took my mom here a couple months ago. She had a lot of fun. We got the calamari and $1maki. I couldnt convince her to get her a sake bomb, but we did get some sake. The guy I am dating and myself came here last week. Once again, we got calamari and the $1 maki and nigiri. They arent bad, sushi can fill you up! (It's all the rice). Last night, I went again (it's the location that keeps me coming back). My co-workers and I went for her birthday. I actually got a roll this time - the double crunch roll. Unfortunately, it may have been not so fresh. All the sake that I had must have not killed the "not so fresh fish" I was eating. They did come sing for my co-workers bday and brought her a dessert. I didnt try any because I was already a little nauseous. **Update** She apparently was sick all night last night....something to keep in mind. The service was a-ok. The food was not. read more

A large group of my friends decided to get together for dinner at Ru San's on a Friday night. One of my friends had called ahead and made a reservation for 15 of us at 8 pm. However, we weren't seated until around 8:40ish. Our large group basically stood awkwardly by the door for about 40 minutes until our tables were ready. The hostess, who bears a *slight* resemblance to Kim Kardashian, was nice - but she did not do a great job of estimating how much time it would take for us to be seated. She kept telling us "just a few more minutes" when it took a lot longer than that. When our group was finally about to be seated, we realized that several more people had arrived than expected. Unfortunately we couldn't all be seated together, but at least our other friends were seated at another table close by. It took a WHILE for us to finally be able to order since the place was pretty packed. After looking through pages and pages of their LONG menu, and being horrified by the names of some of their sushi ("Pearl Harbor Shrimp Bomb Sushi"... REALLY?!?!!), I finally decided to order a Katsu California Roll and a Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll. I thought that these sounded like items that would be hard to mess up. I was wrong. Our group enjoyed several rounds of Sake Bombs. It was my first time EVER having Sake Bombs, but I thought it was fun. The place got pretty loud because there were several other tables getting their Sake Bombs on. After what seemed like forever, we finally got our food... Katsu California Roll ($5.95) - According to their menu, this consists of "Crab Stick & Avocado Rolled in Sushi Rice, Katsu Fried, and Served with Rusan's Spicy Sauce." Honestly, this was the worst roll I've ever had. It just tasted like fried batter. Soy sauce with wasabi helped a little, but it was pretty terrible. Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll ($5.95) - So this sounds simple enough, right? "Spicy Tuna Rolled in Sushi Rice, Tempura Fried, and Served with Rusan's Spicy Sauce." Who could mess THIS up? They could, and did. It tasted almost identical to the Katsu California Roll - like fried batter. I couldn't even taste the "spicy tuna" in it. I was incredibly disappointed. I can usually eat a lot, but I needed my friends to help me finish my two rolls. My friend didn't want his miso soup, so I had that. It tasted decent enough, but I thought it was kind of odd that there were noodles in it. I also tried a piece of my friend's Pork Katsu (tonkatsu) with the sauce. I actually thought this tasted pretty decent, and I am picky about my tonkatsu. Their fried ice cream also wasn't bad. Overall, Ru San's at Tower Place gets 2 stars from me - for their slow service (they didn't seem to have enough staff for a Friday night) and mediocre food. But compared to better sushi restaurants, this place is cheap. I know that cheap isn't always good, but my rolls were pretty bad. The service is fantastic and I've never had a bad experience here. Decided to drop by tonight for my friend's birthday dinner. I've been to multiple locations of Ru San's but I have never been a big fan of any of them. Sadly, my preference about Ru San's stays the same. It took considerable amount of time for server to get our order and it took even longer time to receive my food. I waited about 50 minutes to get my food. I ordered 4 salmon nigiris, 2 order of negi hamachi maki, and 1 order of lomo lomo salmon maki. Of these, only half-decent edible food was the nigiris. I ended up spitting out and not eating the makis because it spewed out old fish stink when I bit into it. I know Ru San's doesn't serve high quality sushi but this was pretty bad even for Ru San's. If by any chance I should return here, I'll just stick to their sake bomb. read more

This is a great option if you're looking for something really filling but not too pricey. Their lunch buffet is awesome! They have different sushi rolls and other entree items (like donkatsu, teriyaki chicken, tempura veggies, etc.). Even if you're not eating at the buffet, the prices aren't ridiculous. You'll probably pay around $10-$12 for a specialty roll, but you can always find simple rolls for around $4. Parking is validated, so don't forget to ask the server for a ticket. I haven't eaten here!!! They get a 1 star for poor customer service. Online it says they close at midnight and that they were "Open Now." We got there at 11pm and one of the employees wants to argue with me about what it says on Yahoo. I told him they need to update the business info online and he said it was updated. I told him it wasn't and he told ignored me while another employee came from the back and said it is updated. I tried to show him but he escorted me out the door repeatedly saying that the new time was updated online and that they're open until midnight on the weekends!!! I'm really not a big fan of buffets, but this one isn too bad. I've been to the Ru San's off of Edgewood many years ago, but that was so long ago I don't even remember thy experience. I may have yelped it, but maybe not. Anyway, on to today's visit.... Overall, I will say the food was good. I didn't eat any of the sushi or sashimi. However, everyone was piling those items on their plate. I ate the sweet chili chicken, the teriyaki chicken, the broccoli, the vegetable fried rice, the shrimp something (I can't remember the name of it), the calamari, and the mussels. They only have vanilla which is a bit disappointing but it was still very very yummy. We were seated very quickly and the staff was very nice, but they were a bit slow. The fish to rice ratio was great and for the amount of food this special was the way to go. The other $25 option had more fried items and less fish. Most of the sushi was pretty good. The fried one wasn't my thing (Trying to watch my figure). There was a little too much sauce on the salmon bits but it was still tasty enough. Decor I've actually only been to Ru San's at Edgewood for the lunch buffet. This seems like a completely different place. They decorated for Halloween. Neato. Ok bathrooms.
