We were called back after the time was almost up, but while waiting, I bought a Bloody Mary to enjoy outside. I would've liked it to be a bit more spicy, but the flavor was overall delicious. Amazing Food! Friendly servers! We sat at the bar and the bartenders/servers were incredible! We reserved our spot in line on google back at our hotel. It said 45 min wait, so we got ready, walked there and then it was only a 20 min wait. Others that didn't reserve online has 1 hour and 30 min wait times. It's busy. It's worth it! They text you when to check in and text you when a table is ready. So you can walk around while you wait (which is nice). OR you can get a bloody at the bar and wait outside. Either way. We tried coming to this place for breakfast and there was an hour and half wait so we went somewhere else. Came back the next morning at opening and got sat right away. This place was overhyped in my opinion. I ordered the chicken and French toast bites. The chicken was good, but I could tell the French was deep fried instead pan fried like traditional French toast. I came here alone. There of course was a long line outside but since it was just me I sat at the bar within 5 mins. The hostess' both were so nice. I know the servers/bartenders were busy. The place was packed. It's extremely loud but that wasn't the problem. I've been here before and absolutely loved my food (different location). I ordered my food with the bartender, which thankfully he repeated it after taking several other peoples orders and had mine completely wrong so it was corrected. Food came out not super fast, but fast enough and the person running my food gave it to someone else. The man said "he didn't order this" the bartender took the plate and brought to where I was sitting. Being in the service industry I would absolutely never take food or a drink to one customer then run it to someone else and expect them to eat it. I was shocked as well as pretty disappointed. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and New Orleans is my favorite city to eat in. Ruby Slipper Cafe merged them quite nicely! First, they have an option to add yourself to the waitlist before you arrive which is wonderful. For our experience, however, we were there on a weekday and our waitlist position expired before we arrived because there just weren't that many people waiting. Upon arrival, we asked if we could simply take the last two seats at the bar and they confirmed it was open seating there. Moments later, we were provided with waters and menus. I opted to start with the Ruby Mimosa based on reviews. This pairs a standard mimosa with pomegranate juice. Great combo, but very sweet and was a one and done. My husband opted for a screwdriver which was delicious with the fresh orange juice. For food, I immediately latched onto the shrimp and grits, while he took one look at another patron's biscuits and gravy (with the optional added fried chicken) and was sold. The food came out and totally lived up to all the hype. The shrimp and grits was completely smothered in a delicious New Orleans barbecue sauce with sausage, peppers and onions. I don't think I'll ever look at Shrimp and Grits the same way again. The biscuits and gravy...well, let's just say you need to have a look at some of the pictures. They're enormous and the gravy is plentiful. It's probably the most impressive dish on the menu. The service was excellent from start to finish with a delightful bar tender, friendly host and efficient servers. Came for brunch back in Nov. 22. They don't take reservation but you can get on their wait list online before showing up. I HIGHLY suggest you do this or you will not be able to eat here. An absolute not-to-miss experience. We went twice and had the same exact meal because it was so delicious. My daughter and I keep kosher so it was a bit tricky to find places to eat in New Orleans, so we were so thrilled that we were in walking distance from this treasure. Everyone we interacted with were very kind and attentive. We got biscuits and gravy with fried chicken, and the sweet heat chicken and french toast. Holy hell, they were amazing! My wife got orange juice (which she said was amazing), and I got a couple of the iced Irish mochas. It was so good, we came back the next day! They were slammed for a Monday afternoon but we were still treated well and seated quickly. The bartenders were also very accommodating. The hot chicken and French toast bites were solid. You know how you go to these touristy places and, like meeting your personal hero, they're inevitably a disappointment given how you've otherwise built them up in your head despite your infinite pessimism? Yeah, this place isn't that. It's astoundingly busy with waits pushing two hours (use the virtual wait list and show up on time), but that's for a good reason. This is merely one experience, but on first impression the food is just phenomenal and the service is top notch. We had three different Bennies, the Blue Crab Cake, the Shrimp, and the OG one, whose full name I can't remember. They were -- and I mean this sincerely -- superb. Excellent shrimp, delicious, unique hollandaise, perfectly poached eggs, amazing biscuits, and one of the best fried green tomatoes I've ever had. What's perhaps more impressive is that they managed to do this with incredibly enthusiastic, attentive service. That's so incredibly hard to do, so incredibly thankless, and I'm even more impressed as a result. Look, if you're in the French Quarter and you want one of the best breakfasts or brunches you've ever had, have a little less to drink the night before, get up early, and make this place a priority. I ordered a cranberry mimosa, but she brought out a glass of cranberry juice. She didn't come back out right away so I had to go to the bar to let them know. When she finally came back out with the correct drink, we ordered food. We loved this place the last time we were in NO (different location) and the Ruby Sunshine restaurant in Charlotte, NC. We arrived when they opened and were one of the first tables served. Most everything and a good flavor, but my husband's sunny side up eggs were not fully cooked on the top. The shrimp in my Bayou shrimp had a funny taste to them like they were not cooked fresh. I would hesitate to go back here. I would maybe order something else next time. The crawfish and grits cakes were excellent. Definitely on the lighter side if you had two of them. Super busy place on weekends, open until 3pm. I went in the morning and was 1.5 hour wait which is ok as I expected it. The food was honestly terrible. Not trying to be mean or exaggerate. I had eggs, bacon, grits, biscuit and fried green tomato. The eggs were tiny, but they were cold, and the rest was room temperature. The grits in a condiment cup had a skin on them as they must prepare them that morning and simply add it to each plate. They were way over salted. The fried green tomato was mostly all woody core and inedible. I'm seriously not making this up. It's like I won the bad food lottery lol. The price was $12.75 so at least that's better than $18 but I would've happily paid more to get a good meal. I realize they have a lot of good ratings but honestly have no idea how.
