Sage Bistro still doesn't disappoint. The chef traveled the world to learn cooking techniques and it shows. Duck breast was still as succulent as ever.

Finally got to try this spot and it didn't disappoint. Excellent service and good food. We went on a Sunday for lunch for a party of 3 and got seated right away. We ordered the following items: - deviled eggs - garlic bread - butternut squash soup - shrimp pesto pasta - spinach pasta with chicken. The food was really cooked well but a bit saucy for me. I would definitely come back.

Since you enter Sage Bistro you feel like you are at home. We were greeted by Ms. Wanda, she is so welcoming, warm and funny. The decor is simple but the place makes up in flavor. Allen (Wanda's husband) the chef, cooked for us a delicious chicken farfalle pasta and a cooked to perfection pan seared salmon served with sauteed red onions and mushrooms over rice and parmesan potatoes. The portions are quite big so we had leftovers. The food is a fusion of Italian, American and Asian. I had a bottle of wine (who doesn't carry one in their car, right) in the car so I just paid the $15 corkage fee. Please note, there is only street parking. We had such a great time and by the end of the night we were all big family. If you find yourself in Alhambra, go and check out Sage Bistro. Cheers, Barbara

A fusion of Italian, American and Asian is this gem of a bistro. There's street parking as well as a small lot in the back of the restaurant. The waitress (not sure if also the owner) who served us was pleasant and very hospitable during our entire dining experience. She made us feel welcomed as soon as we walked in, didn't judge us when we ordered a bunch of dishes and she even brought extra napkins during the middle of our dining -- now that's service. 1. House Garden Salad (4/5) Pretty standard salad of mixed greens topped with freshly sliced mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and crunchy croutons. Have a choice of Italian or Cesar dressing. 2. Chicken Farfalle Pasta (4/5) Bow-tie-shaped Italian pasta that is sautéed with chicken breast and sun dried tomatoes in creamy marsala sauce. The noodles were al dente while the sauce was creamy and cheesy. Wish there was more chicken and tomatoes though. 3. Deviled Eggs (5/5) Perfect hard-boiled eggs that are halved and the yolks mashed and mixed with mayo to create creaminess goodness. It is seasoned with paprika, but not too much ... just enough to give it flavor without burning your mouth. Each order comes with 6 halves 4. Beef Rib Soup (5/5) A hearty broth of beef soup that's light, savory and rich in flavor without being too salty. The beef was tender. 5. Shrimp and Chicken Jambalaya (4/5) I'm a fan of cajun flavors, so ordered this soul-comforting dish. The rice was super fluffy, the chicken was slightly over-cooked, but the shrimp and andouille sausage were cooked to perfection. The sausage had the double smoked rich flavor that I oh so enjoy while the shrimp was fresh and was coated well in the cajun seasoning. Minus 1 star mainly because I felt the seasoning was not quite there ... it missing something like the extra fiery-ness - maybe more pepper or some herbally basil? I would get it again though. 6. New Zealand Lamb Chops (5/5) The lamb chops were cooked well; fairly tender and juicy. The chimichurri sauce added flavor and balanced the gaminess out. It's served with a side of mashed potatoes and carrots. 7. Linguini with Meatballs (5/5) I personally did not try this dish so I cannot write much about it. However, per my brother, he stated that it was "a good spaghetti, but what [he] really cared for was mainly the meatballs." It was a very nice experience dining here. Will come back when in the area or when the family is having a hard time agreeing/choosing between eating Asian or American food. Overall, I'd give them a 4.5/5.

I have been wanting to come here since moving to the area 4 years ago for college, and graduating seemed like the perfect occasion, as my aunts wanted to treat me to a celebratory meal on June 10th. Delightfully understated atmosphere with unique tiles throughout the decor, and we loved that we could hear each other talk and enjoy each other's company. Our server was amazing, she was so knowledgeable while being personable and extremely funny. I assume she's the cook's wife based on the other reviews - I arrived a little after my aunts, so I didn't get a full introduction since they had already secured a table and had ordered some drinks while looking over the menu. I had my eye on 3 different meat dishes - the Roasted Duck Breast, the New Zealand Lamb, and the Angus Beef Ribeye Steak - and my aunts also had each picked 1 of those, so we went family style, and it did not disappoint!! The chef knows how to cook each type of meat to perfection, and the searing pans are doing exactly what they need to be doing! The Roast Duck Breast was AMAZING as cooked to the recommended medium, with delicious crispy skin. The Angus Beef Ribeye Steak at medium rare was as tasty as it was gorgeous! And the New Zealand Lamb was PERFECTION, down to the bone. We also got the gourmet macaroni and cheese as an add-on side, since all the meals come with mashed potatoes and various veggies, and I was in heaven! As someone who used to work at the Disney Parks and frequented the steakhouses and other fine dining both here and in Orlando, Sage Bistro is giving Disney a run for its money when it comes to high-quality meat dishes! The prices reflect both the cut of the meats and the skill of preparation, with it averaging to about $50 each across the 3 of us, which is pretty reasonable for top-tier quality! The only thing I had to be careful about was that many of the dishes have mushrooms, and my throat gets itchy if I eat most mushrooms, so I had to avoid those dishes. During our meal, when I mentioned it to our server for future visits, she was great at noting which dishes could completely be modified to have no mushrooms while also being realistic about acknowledging the dishes that cannot be, which sadly includes the Braised Short Rib that sounds out of this world. But I can have the Beef Rib Soup, so I definitely want to try that next because I WILL BE BACK!!! They also offer takeaway, and were very generous in giving us each a coupon card to use for ordering through their website.

This place has no reason to be so delicious. The ambience is classy without being too pretentious, so you don't have to feel like you're out of place wearing sweats here. Me and my partner have dined a few times and it's always been consistent. Food is good and service from the waitress is amazing! One of my favorite dishes here is definitely the duck breast. It's tender, juicy, and paired with the creamiest mash potatoes that's does not need gravy. It's that good. Still returning!

For a casual night out w good portion sizes, you can't go wrong with Sage Bistro. The menu is fairly small, so the restaurant knows what it's good at, and doesn't mess with anything they don't pretend to know. You'll most likely have the pleasure of Wanda being your server, who is amazing and greeted A TON of regulars who walked in for dinner on a Saturday. With that many people coming back to dine again and again, you just know it's good. What we thought were 5/5 dishes: seared salmon, seared sea scallops, braised short rib, garlic butter shrimp & mashed potatoes

WOW!! If you're looking for a place to eat that also makes you feel at home, this is where you come. We've been dying to try this place and finally had the chance for our birthday! This is a small family owned business, and Wanda made us feel right at home. She recommended that we eat family style (there were five of us) so we could try a little bit of everything. We started off with the jumbo shrimp appetizer which was fried to order. It came out hot! For the mains, we got to try: shrimp garlic mashed potatoes, chicken farfalle pasta, braised short rib, pan seared salmon, and seared sea scallops. I love that this place has photos for each of the menu items so you know exactly what you're getting. The portions here are HUGE! We definitely didn't need to order 5 dishes, but we have no regrets at all. The sauce on the shrimp garlic mashed potatoes was so good. The shrimp was cooked perfectly - very bouncy. The braised short rib came on a bone and it. fell. right. off. Talk about tender!! The pan seared salmon was also cooked very well and the crispy potatoes had us fighting over it. The sea scallops were also really good! I've never had that pasta shape before. The chicken farfalle pasta was okay, nothing wrong, but the other dishes were better! Wanda mentioned they make all their desserts in house, so we couldn't leave without trying it. My god the tiramisu was SO moist!! The cheesecake was well balanced. Can't go wrong either way. We will 100% be coming back! They have a ton of regulars here and Wanda recognizes everyone, can't wait to be a regular.

My first time here at the food was amazing, I will be back! Wanda was so sweet and attentive and we had the restaurant to ourselves. I didn't know this gem existed in Alhambra. Cute and quiet ambiance with nice music. I feel like this is a nice place for a date of you wanna be able to talk and eat

5 Stars - A Hidden Culinary Gem in Alhambra! I brought some old friends to Sage Bistro in Alhambra once again, and we were treated to another incredibly satisfying feast. I am genuinely thrilled to have such an upscale, quiet, and relaxing restaurant right here in my neighborhood. You can truly taste the chef's passion and dedication in every dish. Every time I bring friends here, they are absolutely amazed and delighted by the flavors. We ordered quite a few dishes today. The highlight was the Chilean Sea Bass. The chef served a massive, beautifully thick cut--which is actually the hardest to execute. If overcooked even slightly, Chilean Sea Bass becomes dry and tough. But the timing here was absolutely perfect. It had a gorgeous, golden-brown exterior, while the inside remained incredibly moist, tender, and delightfully springy. The seasoning was spot-on and never overpowering; it wasn't too salty, perfectly preserving the natural, fresh flavors of the sea. We also had the Chicken Bowtie Pasta. I typically avoid chicken dishes at restaurants because they often turn out dry and lack the rich aroma you get from beef or lamb. However, Sage's chef elevates chicken to another level. Rather than using the traditional Cantonese technique of quickly flash-frying in oil (which yields a smooth texture but sacrifices the natural meat aroma), the chef here expertly pan-sears the chicken over extremely high heat for a short time. This creates a deliciously crisp exterior that locks in all the juices and rich flavor. Tossed with perfectly cooked bowtie pasta and cheese, the result is so flavorful and well-balanced that we simply couldn't stop eating! Another great thing about Sage is their incredibly generous portion sizes--we left completely satisfied! We finished our meal with a great cup of coffee and the chef's handmade Tiramisu, drawing a perfect, sweet close to our evening. Highly recommend!

Came in about an hour and a half before closing to try this place for the first time. Speechless at how delicious all the food was! The server was working alone but she was so sweet and accommodating. Overall loved every dish and will be back!!

It was quiet when we went but a quaint little place. We received attentive thoughtful service, but we were the only customers as it was the week of Lunar New Year, so everyone else is having Chinese food. The food? Amazing! Al dente pasta with perfectly cooked scallops and larger portions. We got the salmon mango salad (an interesting combo but it works), Cajun seafood pasta and sea scallops with trofie pasta (short, thin twisted pasta).

Garlic shrimp mashed potatoes! Must order dish!

I Just discovered a hidden gem in Alhambra! The food is incredibly flavorful! Everything we ordered was absolutely on point. The boss lady is so welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. And their butternut squash soup, SO good. A total must order!!

When we arrived, we were happy to find out that it was happy hour until closing at 9 pm. We ordered two appetizers, which were half off during happy hour. We got the buffalo wings and the spinach and artichoke dip with tortilla chips. Both were delicious. The wings were crispy and flavorful. The spinach and artichoke dip wasn't as thick as I wanted it to be,, which concerned me for a second, but the minute I tried it, I loved it and couldn't stop eating it. The tortilla chips were crispy and had what I think was paprika seasoning. It was a huge serving and we had leftovers but ran out of chips. I asked if I could purchase a side of chips to go, but they just gave me some and didn't charge me. We also ordered the mini chicken pot pie combo, which came with a Caesar salad and a slice of pie. They had run out of the mini chicken pot pie, so they gave us a large pot pie instead without charging us extra. The pot pie was really good and had a thick filling. On my previous visits, the pot pie was more on the watery side, so I was happy that this one was nice and thick. The Caesar salad was refreshing with crispy lettuce. We were so full that we got the slice of coconut cream pie to go. We ate it later and thought it was just okay. I wish it had more of a coconut flavor. Customer service was excellent. The food arrived shortly, although not all at once. I didn't mind it all because the ambiance was so soothing with the sound of birds chirping away and the background of other patrons talking. The only complaint from Hubby was too many pototo chunks in his burrito. My omelette was hot, fresh ingredients, delectable & the potatoes were mixed with 3 colors of bellpeppers. Oh and the chilaquiles? Pretty darn good! The tortilla chips were crispy, perfect amount of green salsa, freshly diced onions & a sprinkling of cotija cheese. Was I famished or was it that good that I devoured everything? What's left was Hubby's potato chunk discards. Giselle returned a few times to ensure our experience is to our satisfaction & another staff also stopped by to check on us. Such a perfect meal & day-- I'm so happy with this visit. Parking is plentiful & free.

I arrived in Alhambra one Sunday afternoon with the intention to hit 4 food spots to redeem free offers. They are part of the 24 participating restaurants in the food passport. I only got to two places and Popping Yolk Cafe (PYC) was one of them. PYC was number 6th stamp in my food passport! Free parking was easy at the Mosaic Parking Structure (4 hours limit). Very short walk from parking to restaurant. First time at PYC. I was lucky to get here thirty minutes prior to closing time. They specialize in breakfast and brunch only. Their free passport offer is 1 Benedict Entree or 1 French Toast Entree. Dine in only and no substitutions. Thanks PYC! Interior space was quite nice and vibey. Tables were clean. Ambiance was relaxing and cozy. Love the beautiful yellow decor! Plenty of inside seating with no exterior seating. Mia was the young lady staff who welcomed me with a friendly greeting and took my order. She was super nice, patient, and helpful. Other staff members were cordial and attentive. Thanks Mia and All! WOW, what a super amazing free food offer! I didn't hesitate and got the Avocado Benedict. Both eggs were perfectly poached. Avocado was just ripe. Ham slices were thick and tasty. Hollandaise sauce was rich and buttery with a bit of tangy taste. Just one small gripe, the english muffin did not appear to have been toasted. It was tough to cut through. Other than that, it was a fantastic benedict entree for a first timer like myself. I was feeling hungry so I also got an order of Ube French Toast and one Mango Green Tea (refillable). Another WOW, delicious house ube filling in a deep-fried toast topped with semi-sweet coconut flakes and fresh blueberries along with a drizzle of maple syrup and condensed milk. VERY YUMMY! This one is a winner! Mango green tea had deep tropical and tea flavors... nice drink! Menu has a great variety of egg benedicts and crunchy french toasts along with sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, crepes, waffles, pancakes, salad, and snacks. Prices were reasonable for the huge portions. Highly recommend! Love to return to try their other specialty breakfast and brunch items. I just need to get here early. Btw, besides Alhambra, they have two other locations... Pasadena and Hacienda Heights.

If you dine in, you order at the counter, get your number, and get seated. They had indoor and patio seating in the back. The indoor table seatings were all taken and the patio seatings were opened except for one table. We got the Norwegian Benedict for $20.20, Classic Benedict for $18.75, Toffee Banana Crepe for $16, Mozzarella Sticks for $8, and refillable Mango Iced Green Tea for $6. The Benedict's were good and filling. The Toffee Banana Crepe was too sweet. The Mozzarella Sticks were alright, but a bit oily. The Mango Iced Green Tea was refreshing. We liked that we got multiple refills. Good place to catch up with friends.
