Who's the most envied girl at the table?? THIS ONE. Who's the most envied girl at the table?! THIS ONE. Out of all the many food trucks at St Elmo's, I landed on Salam's and was NOT disappointed! From the takeaway box alone, you can tell they mean business. It's fully branded with the chef and contact info, not your typical Sam's Club/Costco bulk supply situation. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Box and WOW. The wrap comes sliced into DELICIOUS, perfectly grilled, crunchy bite size pieces, making it perfect for sharing (or maybe not, no judgment here)! In addition to the mini-bites, you always get a generous portion of Spicy Coriander Fries drizzled with sauce and chopped cilantro. Some places beg for five-star reviews to bring in customers, but at Salam's Grill, their food speaks for itself. NO NOTES read more

Update: After eating probably 40+ chicken shawarma wraps from here, I wanted to do an update & also correct a few things from my previous review. First of all, after trying tons of other places, it's official - Salam's has THE BEST chicken shawarma wrap. I am quite literally obsessed with them. It's the chicken, the saj/Markouk bread, the Toum - everything comes together perfectly. If I could eat them every day, I certainly would and sometimes do. Mondays & Tuesdays are sad days for me. lol I still try other places sometimes, but I'm often disappointed. Unfortunately I don't live close by & my town has ZERO middle eastern places to eat. So that's also why I place larger orders. 1. Correction: The meat actually IS cooked and shaved from a spit. But, it's not paper thin and dry like some places tend to be. It's also not chicken breast. It's either thigh or a combination of both. Whatever it is, it's working. It's the best chicken I've ever had. I've tried to recreate it at home 100 times, but it's just not gonna happen. 2. I don't think I've actually ordered from here 40 individual times, but when I do come, I order several wraps. I special order them whole with no sauce or pickles so I can put a couple in the fridge to save for the rest of the week. They don't get soggy that way and are easier to toss in the air fryer or oven later. Then I add sauce & pickles later along with pomegranate molasses. I always keep a bottle handy. (HEB has it) Salam's is always really great about granting those requests for me. 3. They have added their baklava to the online menu. Yay! **If I could add anything to the menu, it would be little cups of pomegranate molasses. Personally, it doesn't affect me because I always get my food to go & I keep a bottle at home. But, I hate that other people might be missing out on it. I mix it with their garlic sauce. When you give your wrap a little dip, then take a bite, it's like a few seconds of heaven on earth. Very conflicted writing this and was very much looking forward to trying. Ordered online so that might be where the issue lays, but ordered the Fat Man's Plate with falafel. Service was quick, took maybe 7 mins for it to be ready. Looking at others photos and the description (included) I feel what I received was not the same, just fries and falafel with tahini sauce. Missing out on all the pickled vegetables. While the falafel and tahini sauce was excellent I do not feel like this was worth $25. Note, did not have the option of rice vs fries. Not a huge deal, but would've preferred the rice. Fries were solid. And you can select no spice or spice. Recommend the falafel and going in person if trying out! read more

Visited Salam's Grill food truck outside of Vacancy Brewing for dinner on a busy Saturday night. My friend ordered the chicken shawarma box with rice and I ordered the beef shawarma box with fries. Our meals were ready in about 20 minutes. A lot of my restaurant reviews are all about the food, but right off the bat I was taken away by the branding of Salam's Grill. The box my meal was packaged in featured Chef Amr Hammad's name and referenced the family's Peace Bakery in town, and was just cute. Our food was flavorful and cooked well. We enjoyed how the wraps were cut into crunchy bite size pieces with plenty of toppings. The tahini sauce on the side was nutty and smooth. My friend liked her rice and I enjoyed the seasoning on my fries, although I believe they could be even better if Salam's Grill made fresh-cut instead of frozen fries. Hopefully they add a restaurant pager or text when orders are ready system, as I saw the chef having to track down some people inside Vacancy when their orders were ready. Overall, we are very happy to have another great lunch and dinner option in South Austin. read more

A Middle Eastern (Lebanese?) truck that comes to play BALL. They gave us ALL a heavy handed sample of their offerings. The beef and chicken were thinly sliced, crispy on the outside, juicy inside. The yellow rice did its job, plus the thinly sliced marinated onions, tomatoes, tangy sumac, pickles, and that garlicky toum all came together so nicely. I was over at vacancy brewery over on St. Elmo and I noticed this food truck salams grill so I looked it up. notice it had 4.9 stars and went through the reviews and pictures. I decided to get the beef shawarma wrap box with the fries! I put the order in at the window and the service was very friendly and I got my order within 10 minutes. there was a good amount of people so the fact that it came out this fast was very nice. The beef shawarma wrap had such amazing flavor and the fries were a good pairing! I would highly recommend this place if you were just looking for some food or you are getting drinks with some friends in the chill st Elmo area. read more

On a cold Friday evening in Austin we checked out Salam's. As we drove up we debated as it was chilly but had this on the list for a while. Immediately you are greeted with jut exceptional genuine service. Smiles, recommendations and kindness Is what they exude. I ordered the chicken shawarma box with hummus. Also they had a Turkish coffee hot chocolate and I couldn't pass it up. The chicken shawarma was delicious. The wrap light and crispy with juices chicken and all the fixings. The box comes with a side of spicy fries. I am not usually a condiment person but asked for it as it comes and was thrilled I did. The fries had a spicy sauce with the right touch of crisp. I could have eaten them all. The hot chocolate was topped with whip cream and peppermint. The flavors were a bit of chocolate with a savory tie from the Turkish coffee,I drank every drop. I highly recommend stopping by and don't hesitate cause it's a bit cooler. Bundle up and enjoy the area and staff who are amazing. One item I was humbled by was the hummus. Salam's Grill is an offshoot of Peace Bakery. All of the goodness from Peace is here. No doubt. The chicken shawarma I had was perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. You get the shawarma wrap and a side of fries. Honestly, I was so full I ate just 1-2 fries, and they were good. But my true love was with the wrap. I inhaled it like a beast. This was delicious Mediterranean food. I had a sample of the Fat Man's Plate and I really enjoyed it. It was very flavorful and had a bit of everything. I really enjoyed the beef. Came here for an event and had a mini version of the poor man's platter. That version was plenty big though for me. Not sure I could handle the full size but myself! Had a mix of chicken and beef over rice. Really tasty. The garlic sauce on the side was excellent also. Do recommend. read more

We were having a tasting at C. L. Butaud and wanted something more than a cheese board. Ran over to Salam's and got an assortment of items. The hummus and toum were AMAZING! The falafel was delicious and the dressed fries were out of this world. They even ran it into the winery for us! Definitely recommend checking it out. It's not as gluten free friendly as Reem's, but for those of us who are not as sensitive with cross contamination, still some tasty options! And I recommend getting some toum to go. read more

Located in front of Vacancy Brewing, Salam's Grill has the perfect spot to sit outdoors or indoors with a drink from Vacancy. The menu has just a few options - but all are appealing. We ordered the Fat Man's Plate atop coriander spicy fries as well as the beef shawarma wrap. The presentation of the dishes is beautiful and look delicious. My partner enjoyed the beef shawarma. The Fat Man's Plate was just alright - we had high expectations for the fries, but they were not quite as flavorful as we had hoped. The chicken shwarma atop was also not the most flavorful, but we came later at night so it may be that not much was left and it was not as fresh as it could have been earlier. However, for atmosphere and presentation, would definitely come back. read more

Tried Salam's Grill for the first time and it's officially my new go-to spot for Mediterranean food in Austin. There's an affiliation with Peace Bakery - owned by the owner's parents which used to be my favorite, and now Salam's has taken that spot. The owner is funny, welcoming, and imports his spices from overseas to ensure top-quality ingredients. The quality of the food really stands out. Authentic, flavorful, and better than any other Mediterranean spot I've tried locally. Service was quick, and I ordered the sampler plate, which was loaded and gave a little bit of everything. Highly recommend this if it's your first visit. The meats were crispy, juicy, and tender, and the rice was cooked perfectly. Plenty of parking when I went in the evening, portions were big, and prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality. I'm usually pretty budget-conscious, but I'd happily spend my money here. I'll definitely be returning, this is my new go-to for authentic Mediterranean food. read more

Salam's grand opening announced at Vacancy Brewing showed that they offered gyros, shawarma and falafel. I asked for a gyro but the order taker acted as if he had no idea what that was. He insisted that, "We only serve shawarma here!" I ordered a steak shawarma wrap. Instead of a typical foil-wrapped shawarma roll, as shown on the announcement, I was given a small, square, hamburger-sized styrofoam container. The 6" shawarma roll had been cut into 4 pieces and packed into the box. Disappointingly, there was no yogurt, tahini sauce or any other kind of condiment. On the positive side, I will say that the marinated flavor of the meat was very tasty. However, the meat probably should have marinated much longer. Instead of pieces sliced thinly against the grain for tenderness, the meat was cut into small cubes which were mostly tough and gristly. Not the best example of shawarma to be had. read more

Nice to see Peace Bakery expanding. Service was great and it's in a nice little area. We ordered: Hummus: This has a really nice flavor. The olive oil on top tasted nice and overall it was very creamy. Sometimes it tasted charred almost like baba ganoush. Delicious. Beef shawarma box: The beef, I think it needed more seasoning to cut through the gamey flavor. I would go for the chicken next time. Fries were over seasoned and really salty. I like Peace Balery's cumin potatoes, I think it translates a little differently on fries. Toum sauce was really great. and the pita that they used for the wrap was as well. The custom box is a wonderful touch. This is a new place and I am sure they are finding their footing. Maybe I just caught them on an off day. I will try them again! read more

There's access to the Music Lane underground garage (with a small validation discount from the restaurant) plus nearby paid lots and street options, but it can feel competitive and a bit chaotic, especially on busier evenings. Plan ahead or use rideshare if you can. Service was great--attentive and smooth throughout our meal with two adults and two kids. We ordered the whipped feta spread (excellent with the pistachios and oil; the house bread was a bit salty), Brussels sprouts (cooked perfectly), grilled chicken kebabs, the shawarma-spiced steak frites, and the grilled Branzino. The Branzino was the clear star of the show--flavorful and well-executed. The chicken and steak were mediocre at best. For dessert we shared the sticky date cake, which had a nice crunch outside and was warm and moist inside. It's a bit pricey (we paid over $240 for the four of us), but the setting, strong service, and that excellent Branzino make it worthwhile. I'd definitely come back.

Then someone else came as the waitress and she was preoccupied with other tables and barely checked on us. A regular lunch which would've been one hour became almost two because of the lack of service. My friend had to stand and look for someone to give us a box to take out the good we couldn't eat because it was getting late and also to get the check because No one came in to check on us at all. It was almost like pulling teeth to get a regular service let alone good service. Again, the food was really good, and that alone was the only positive.

It was tender, delicious, and a perfect end to the meal. Parking was limited on the street but I believe the Triangle has garages also- I was able to snag a short term parking spot for MezzeMe which is actually why I originally decided to check it out!

We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. I came back because I appreciated having a sample today reflected the main dishes of a Jerusalem street food truck. I order using the he link to their toast. They were on a break, so I had to wait a little longer. The link to order came in handy vs me waiting to put an order in until someone arrived. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and a side of falafels. My falafels were crispy and flavorful. The chicken shawarma wrap was the perfect size. The amount of meat on the wrap was really good, all of the ingredients were balanced well. The chicken was flavorful as well. I wanted to order fries, but they were sold out. There is plenty of seating available throughout St. Elmo. You can sit outside, listen to music, and grab a drimk from other businesses. I will definitely go again!

There was still a line at 11 PM, which tells you everything you need to know. It's a little hidden on the corner of a gas station, but don't let that fool you. I wasn't a fan of the red spicy sauce, but the tzatziki was delicious. Next time, I'm trying the tabouli. Great food, open late, and I'd definitely come back.

There was construction and graduations going on that day so my commute was a little longer but he not having the orders ready also made me late.

I came here with another Yelp Elite Member and both of us enjoyed the fresh pasta. I ordered mine with Alfredo sauce, onion flakes, and chicken ($2 extra). The pasta was amazing.
