Calamari - these were good. Mildly spicy, paired perfectly with the ranch(?) sauce.
    Steve Y.

Pacing is unacceptable. We were seated at 5:30. Our pastas ( our entrees for the evening) arrived at 6:45. That is not a typo. It was more than an hour after seating, about an hour after ordering, and maybe 30 minutes after our last appetizer. What makes it all the more frustrating is that the table next to ours, that was seated after we had already finished our appetizers, received their pastas only a couple minutes after we did. As for the food itself, it was inconsistent. Some dishes were excellent, but others were very plain. The calamari was definitely the high point, which you might be able to tell since it's one of the only dishes referenced by name in these other reviews. We tried the foccacia, which was good, but for $20, I'd expect more of it. There wasn't enough of the bread to finish the butter that we had. Speaking of which, I think the foccacia would have been better just served warm, not with the sides pan fried again? I understand spreading butter on toasted bread, but spreading butter on top of greasy bread felt excessive. The other items we ordered were the meatballs and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were consistently roasted and uniformly good. The meatballs were rather plain on their own. Neither the pasta sauce nor the pesto/green sauce came through. The biggest disappointment was with the pastas. We shared three: Pomodoro, Bolgenese, and Vodka, and all three were unexceptional. The Pomodoro felt flat. In their defense, my mom ordered it without cheese, and so it is possible that the kitchen did not compensate for the salt missing from the parmesan. Bolgenese and Vodka tasted basically the same as each other... which is odd. Both were creamy without being rich, neither the ground meat nor the nduja were coming through in either dish. The vodka was allegedly spicy but there was none of it coming through. Aside from the shapes of the noodles, and the fact that the vodka was baked for a few minutes to give it a crust, they seemed like basically the same dish. They tried to elevate the vodka pasta by adding toasted breadcrumbs on top. I think that works if the breadcrumbs are seasoned in some way so that the breadcrumbs are little flavor bombs, but these were basically just like adding something gritty to the pasta. Our service started off great, with frequent visits to top off our water, but she started coming by less often as our meal turned into an hours long ordeal. At the start of the evening, my cup overfloweth with water. By the end, it was dry, which was problematic on the warm patio. She seemed knowledgeable about the menu, and was able to make suggestions based off of my mom's preferences, which was helpful. As for the restaurant itself, it has the same "we're trying to be modern, upscale but casual" vibe that looks good on social media - dark wood, light marble, playing with the light. Partioning the bar into its own wing was a decision. I think it would have looked better being able to see the bar from the dining area, but ah well. By blocking lines of sights everywhere, I thought the inside ended up feeling cramped, but others might call it intimate. All in all, a disappointing evening.

First time at Salina was truly an elevated dining experience! Came for a date night with my boyfriend and we had a great time. It was unique to any other local Italian restaurants and the aesthetic of the interior was so nice. Luis was super kind and treated us like VIPs, he gave us a rundown of the menu plus his recommendations that we appreciated. The spicy calamari was delicious, tasty and spicy, the homemade ranch it comes with was phenomenal! I tried out the Agnolotti pasta it was sweet & savory pockets that were beyond delicious!!! I enjoyed every bite, it was so comforting. The side of Brussels should not be slept on... they were one of my favorite things I tried. A manager even came to check on us during our dinner to make sure everything was good which we appreciated. Shoutout to Alexa for great vibes as well. I am looking forward to coming back here and trying more dishes! I was truly impressed.

Dined here recently with my family including 2 kids. I always appreciate whenever restaurants have a kids menu. My kids chose the spaghetti and cheese pizza and enjoyed both. Good portion sizes for the kids as well. We tried: Spicy calamari Meatballs Vodka pizza Agnolotti Fries Soft serve for dessert We did enjoy the food (except the meatballs which were cold and didn't feel meaty enough) and the service was good. However, the kitchen could work on pacing and timing, as it took a while for our food to come out and then it all came out at the same time (appetizers, mains, and kids' meals). We will probably return at some point and hope to see some kinks ironed out by then!

The Bottom Line 5 stars: Dining at SALINA is a treat. Wonderful vibe, service, food and drinks. My only concern is that the prices are on the high side. But still, highly recommended! Location 4 stars: In the Vineyards in Porter Ranch. Parking is free on the premises but always a hassle on weekends and nights. There are many nice restaurants and shops here but not enough parking. No Valet either. Be prepared for a walk! Venue 5 stars: New, nicely decorated upscale facility with indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. They take reservations on Open Table which I would recommend as they get very busy. Service 5 stars: Very well trained, personable and professional. The manager Les made the rounds regularly. He was very friendly and helpful. Food 5 stars: Delicious and well plated, but expensive! They still get 5 stars for food in my book! We had the Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza, the Carbonara, the Eggplant Parm and the Burger. All were excellent! For Dessert we had the wonderful Harry's Berries and Cream, which was a special but they must add it to the menu! Drinks 5 stars: Creative specialty cocktails, full bar, beer, wine and soft drinks. Drinks are reasonably priced.

    Caesar Salad
    Adriana G.

The Caesar salad was the star of the show for me! The lettuce wedges were fresh and slightly crunchy with cheese, crouton crumbs, and Caesar dressing! I appreciate that each lettuce wedge was individually prepped so that you can taste all the ingredients in every bite! The best I've had!! The vodka pasta was also good. It is made with pork so it does have a slight aftertaste. The portion was also small, but it was cool to try this new Porter Ranch gem! Friendly service with upscale casual vibes!

My sister and I have been wanting to try Salina ever since it opened! We were able to make a same day reservation for dinner on a Saturday night. After checking in with the host, we waited a couple of minutes for our table to be ready. While we waited, we went to the restroom which was high tech and also noticed they have a bar and outdoor seating area. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food came out fairly quickly. We started with the Caesar salad, which ended up being our favorite of the night! We also ordered the calamari which had a spicy kick but was still good and we shared the vodka pasta.

    Carbonara, Pomodoro, Chicken Parmigiana

The food and drinks here are excellent and service was friendly, attentive and quick. We had the house made focaccia with whipped lemon ricotta, spicy calamari, carbonara, chicken parmigiana, pomodoro and the caesar salad. Everything tasted fantastic and well balanced - I was surprised to say the chicken parmigiana was my favorite. I also rarely like calamari but the texture and breading was on point. The prices seemed high at first, but when we received the dishes we understood why. The portions are huge and it's definitely meant to be shared family-style, so it's also good value for the price point. Although the restaurant is new, you can tell it's only going to keep getting better over time. We can't wait to go back!

The food was delicious and the waiter was very nice! However, we ordered drinks and they took at least 20 mins to bring us our drinks. My friend went to go see the bar and it was not busy at all to merit such a wait. Then our food arrived shortly after. We noticed the tables around us were getting free drinks and free food since they also were waiting so long for their drinks and food. We wish we were offered the same courtesy especially for the pricing of the items on the menu. How come we weren't comped anything or even got a sorry for the wait? Very disappointing. The waiters were extremely apologetic to the tables near us and they never acknowledged our wait.

Hubby and I did a walk in. There was a long wait for the table, but managed to get seats at the bar. Bartenders were friendly. Pros: -Caprese salad - so light and refreshing. Lovely dish. - Pork chop - requested for easy salt. By far one of the best pork chops we've had. So tender and it complemented with the salsa. Great quality! -Prime Rib - can easily be shared with 2 pple. Very tender. Perfectly cooked. -Mashed potato - so smooth and buttery. -Fries - very crispy and lightly salted. Cons: -Broccolini- I love my veggies, but I didn't enjoy this side dish one bit. It was overly salty!! Not a fan! I really suggest to cut down the salt. -Calamari - great spice and crunch, but again it was overly salty. Please cut down the salt. Besides the salt issue, the overall meal was pleasant. We'll definitely be back to try the pasta.

Salina opened on April 1. Our Friday date night had an Italian and Mediterranean affair. The food we ordered, did not disappoint. We sat at the bar to eat our meal given that it was a two hour wait. I encourage the team to continue to let this happen organically. The bar service was on point and folks we spoke to at the bar, were happy with their choices and we were too. If you're not careful, it can be an expensive meal with drinks, appetizers, main course, and dessert. Everything was soooooo good and I recommend that the kitchen have "runners" or create a team environment so "hands" are ready to deliver orders so pasta and other items don't come out lukewarm. I will go here again and again. That's just how good the food is and it's right next to one of my other favorites, Lure. Salina is good and I highly recommend reservations! #foodie #chefs #restauranteur #chefskiss

The staff is great very friendly and provide great service. The atmosphere is very nice and feels very welcoming and upscale. The drink was good and enjoyed the taste of the water. The Margherita pizza was delicious the sauce and crust was tasty and fresh. The truffle fries were very crispy and soft. The chicken parmigiana was not so tasty. So you get two pieces the smaller piece was cooked nicely crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside the 2nd bigger pieces was very over fried from the outside and the breading was very hard. It had a few unappetizing bits to it. The inside was very dried. So it was a mixed flavor for me. The pasta was amazing soft and just buttery and tender. Again the staff was great. The cannoli was a sweet treat.

After hearing so much about Salina, I was excited to finally give it a try, but unfortunately, I left feeling like it's a bit overhyped. The service was polite, but when I asked for recommendations, our server basically listed every item on the menu, which wasn't very helpful and felt a little odd. We ordered the vodka pasta, and while it was good, it definitely didn't feel like a $30 dish. The carbonara was rich to the point of being heavy and greasy, and again, I didn't think it justified the price. My kids had the spaghetti with tomato sauce, but the sauce was noticeably sour, and neither of them wanted to finish it. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with a lively bar scene, and I can definitely see why people enjoy coming for drinks and the overall vibe. For us, though, the food just didn't live up to the hype or the prices. I might come back for a cocktail and the ambiance, but not necessarily for the meal.

    Vanessa A.

It's a cute spot and definitely something different from what we have in Porter Ranch. The staff really stood out and everyone was so friendly and welcoming, which I genuinely appreciated. That said, the food was just okay and nothing particularly memorable. I've definitely had better. The cocktails also need some work, I tried two different ones and was disappointed with both. The only standout for me was the Caesar salad, which I actually really enjoyed.

Lemon drop small version I asked for something small because I dont drink alcohol

Let me backtrack too and say that I paid $14 for valet which tbh is not too bad considering I didn't have to worry about my car or anything so it was worth it. Okay the food. We got Parker rolls and the Mezze plate for the table. Wow, the Parker rolls were as you would expect. Buttery goodness. French butter as you know...top tier. Okay the Mezze plate? Every single sauce was so good. The little cous cous thing in the Mezze plate was so cute and yummy. Then the main dishes. Seven vegetable couscous was great. As a Moroccan, I can say it was a great vegetarian version of the dish. Has the staple veggies you look for in a cous cous. My friend got the vegan cauliflower steak and that was so beautiful and tasted delicious. It was a great dish for my vegan friend. Our waiter was so nice and really personable as well. From start to finish, he was there for us when we needed him and we really enjoyed our dining experience because of him. I forgot his name but he's a star. It was super chaotic because no one knew how to order since you either have to order via the QR code on your table or at the register, so the manager had to step in and assign roles to everyone. FYI it's additionally confusing because there are no servers and yet they still have the workers run around delivering the food/drinks/etc. No hate at all to the workers since they are overworked and wearing many different hats, but this system just created a very frustrating breakfast experience. Amazing!! I wish we had one of these in the SGV! We stumbled upon this place on a recent weekday…read morewhen we were in the area for a photoshoot. My husband had the steak gyro with fries. The fries were cooked fresh in a special seasoning and were a huge hit, even for my very picky 3 y/o. My husband devoured the wrap and said it was bomb. I had the Greek salad with chicken and I'd wished afterwards that I'd ordered the same for dinner because it was ENORMOUS to be eating for lunch. We'd been shooting for hours and hadn't eaten that day, so were starving, yet I still couldn't finish it. Ingredients were fresh, and portion was very generous. There's an ice-cream shop on 1 side and a cookie shop on the other side of this place, so plenty of treats nearby to keep your toddler busy while you enjoy your meal (like we did lol).

I choose the plain chicken pieces. You can customize the ingredients and sauce. I chose the Tahini sauce. By the time the staff had finished with my wrap, it was huge. I took it to go and by the time I got it home the wrap was already falling apart, partially from the amount of sauce they had placed in as well as the fact that the pita just could not hold up to the toppings. I ended up eating it with a knife and fork. I was happy about the generosity of filling but as a wrap it just did not hold up. I think next time I will just get the plate. There were only 2 staff members when I went but they were pretty efficient. Plenty of seating inside and area seemed fairly clean.

This place is always recommended to me on Yelp anytime I try to find places to eat in Little Tokyo…read moreand technically it's in the Arts District, but it's within walking distance. I've had my brother and several friends say that it's good and since we were closer to this area for a pop up event, we dropped by and I finally had a chance to try it. We visited during the final game of the World Cup, so there was no more indoor dining, but there's a couple bench tables outside at the side of the building. Part of the building shades over the seating, so even on a pretty hot day, this worked in a pinch and there was a slight breeze too, thank goodness. Staff was helpful and and answered our questions. They also brought our order out to the tables outside, which was nice. They also took our trash and tray back when we were done too. Each table has ketchup, brown and spicy mustard if need be. Inside, you order and pay at the cashier, grab a number, and they bring it to you. There's a bunch of sausage links on display, as well as the sodas and you can see some of the beer that they have too. For our Sunday lunch, we got the: 1) Sunset Zero soda: -It's an imported German soda. Love that there's a zero sugar version. It's a citrus cola with ending vanilla notes. Way better than some of the orange Pepsi/Pepsi Fire they ran in the past. Nice to try. 2) Rattlesnake & Rabbit with Jalapeno Peppers: -Unique combination of predator and prey meats all encased into one sausage. Also, not often you can get these meats as well. -Slight spicy kick to it from the jalapenos and rich, buttery texture of the meats together. -Each hot dog comes with 2 toppings and we got caramelized onions and sauerkraut with this which added a nice sour and sweet taste to it too. -I liked this the most of the 2 of them. 3) Pheasant with Herbs de Provence: -Nice savory flavor, but I was a fool and ordered this with the sweet and spicy peppers as a topping since they were different from the other toppings we got and I mostly just tasted the bitter aftertaste of the peppers that sort of overpowered the meats. My mistake if anything since the bites with just meat and mustard were delicious. 4) Groot of Belgian Fries: -Huge serving, way too much for 2 people especially with 2 hot dogs and we sadly could not finish it, but at the very least it came with 2 dipping sauces. -Before ordering this, I didn't groot referred to anything other than a Marvel character. -Fries had a rich, deeper flavor than standard fries, nice slight crispiness. We got it with curry ketchup and sundried tomato mayo. The tomato mayo was fine, definitely a lighter flavor and since the fries tasted so rich on their own, I feel like the curry ketchup was a more flavorful and better match. I love a good hot dog, so being able to try it with more exotic meats, flavors, and sauces makes it definitely worth stopping by.

My friend and I had been wanting to try wurstkuche for a while and it didn't disappoint. Parking…read morecan be a little annoying but we were lucky enough to find street parking nearby. The space has a dark, industrial vibe, and I loved seeing the sausage display when you walk in. We shared the duck & bacon, mango jalapeño, rattlesnake & rabbit, and the Klein. The duck & bacon was easily our favorite. It was juicy and packed with flavor. The mango jalapeño had a nice balance of sweet and savory but I wish it had more heat. The rattlesnake & rabbit was interesting but could've used a little more salt. I also loved the toasted buns, sauerkraut, and caramelized onions. The fries were fluffy inside but I wish they were a little crispier. I also loved their beer selection and they let us sample a few before ordering. If you go definitely get the Kasteel Tropicale!! It was my favorite beer of the night! The service was great and the cashiers gave us awesome recommendations. Overall, I'd definitely come back. It's a fun spot to grab beers and sausages with friends!
