I've ordered delivery twice so far and the food is great! Today I had the lunch special, which included mini salad and three rolls of your choice for $15. It was actually much larger portion than I thought - I think there were eighteen pieces of sushi roll total. The sashimi, avocado, and whatever inside the roll is pretty big so it was very satisfying. The delivery is also super fast and they arrived early. Lucky to live so close to this place. It's nice to be able to go downstairs and pick up sushi takeout for lunch. Love their spicy tuna and eel avocado rolls, and the 3 roll lunch special for $14 with miso soup is a great deal. Their bento boxes are also delicious. Customer service is always friendly. Make sure you call them directly for takeout as you will get a better price than through the food apps. read more

Had a great time dining outdoors with a friend for dinner. The tables were spaced apart, they had heaters to warm us up and the lights of the surrounding buildings added to the ambiance. I also had the Alaska roll and yellowtail roll which was delicious but I was so surprised when trying the sweet potato roll to find out how great it was. First off they have happy hour till 7pm: $5 sangria, wines, and some of the sake. I ordered a glass of Kung Fu Girl Riesling and then started to peruse the menu. I actually felt a bit like a slob because I did not expect it to be busy on a Monday, and I was wearing my walking/hiking shoes (walked across the Queensboro Bridge from work) and was all nerded out wearing glasses and backpack...basically I totally looked like a mad scientist. Alas, Charlie made me feel welcome. I honestly couldn't decide on food, but that was mostly because I was VERY hungry. After deep inspection of the menu, I ordered the Firecracker Roll for takeaway, and the Tostitos ceviche, sans the avocado, while I waited...I figured it would not fare quite so well carried away in a bag! The Tostitos Ceviche was very unique, fresh and delicious! I liked to add the hot pepper garnish to each piece. I wish it had been more, but I was also just very hungry! I finished my Kung Fu Riesling, and was slightly jealous of another's Lychee Martini (I almost ordered it), so I ordered one of those too! OH my goodness, she was simply irresistible (yep, totally quoted an 80s song, if anyone remembers it)! I slowly milked that martini till the fruit was soaked in alcohol and slurped it down too...I will be bringing people here just for this fine concoction. Great local sushi spot! My friend lives in the area and we stopped by for dinner here when I was visiting. Everything was very fresh! We got the sushi/sashimi plate to share. I loved the variety that they provided. It was 10 piece sashimi and 4 piece sushi and 1 regular roll. We also got the flash specialty roll which was yummy! For appetizers we got the thunder dome which was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend the thunder done if you're deciding in an app to get. Came here last night as I was looking for a solid place to try yakitori in queens. Service - I was greeted immediately and seated even though the whole party have not arrived yet. Waiters were attentive and accommodated all my request politely and immediately. No questions asked. Food - I started my meal with the happy hour deal from 5-7pm ($5 beer, wine, hot sake). I then ordered the yakitori and I was very disappointed as the delivery was poorly executed and burnt. I highly recommend you improve it or take it off the menu. I decided to give the sushi a try and I was surprised how fresh it was. This where the restaurant really shines. The waiter recommended the baby tuna and I was skeptical given my experience with the yakitori but it was fantastic. I only wish I tried the chef special now. 8Came here on Valentine's Day and couldn't be happier! They had a Valentine's day special which we did not opt for but our meal was delicious nonetheless. Sapps is a very dark, garage like restaurant that still upholds an intimate vibe. It has plenty of seating as well as a bar area with a huge flat screen tv. My friend and I arrived at approx. 5:45pm. The place was empty but we were greeted by a very friendly lady who by the way was so accommodating and sweet! I ordered the Supa Dupa punch (yum!), Oyako Don($14) and the Blast roll ($15). The blast roll was so dang good. Like the freshest, most delicious roll I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating that, trust me. Amongst many other things, I think I know my sushi pretty well and here at Sapps they are killing it with their rolls (I also tried some of the other rolls that my friend ordered like the shrimpy roll and one other one I can't remember). The Oyako Don was decent. Good portion and lots of chicken but I wasn't the biggest fan of it. The chicken very much resembled the chicken you get at food courts. This was the only dish of the night that fell short for me which is why I'm giving the place 4 stars. However, I will definitely come back for more of their rolls without a doubt. I highly reccommend Sapps. It's fairly new but if they keep it up with their wonderful service and great food, I can see them becoming a favorite on everybody's list. read more

Sapps appeared on my LIC restaurant search one day and I had to click in for this new addition to the neighborhood. I was kind of skeptical at first because how can they earn five stars already??? Now that I visited, I think they deserve it! We got several appetizers, including the Tostitos one (I forgot the name). It wasn't as amazing as I thought, but the fish and avocado were decent. I wanted to highlight the Chef's Special sushi. I didn't expect much here because I assume that they're probably like other "local Japanese restaurants." But I was wrong. My first bite, yellowtail, was ah-may-zing. The uni is surprisingly fresh too (a lot of uni at other restaurants is not fresh and tastes really bad). Overall the quality of this plate just wow-ed me at this price. All 8 pieces cost a total of only $33. Can you believe it. We also got a tempura platter, but I don't think we would come back for this again because there are other things we want to try! We'll be back for sure. read more

The food is great here but what keeps me coming back is the customer service, even during covid-related service constraints. They have outdoor seating set up in the adjacent lot and it's about as nice of a setup as you can find these days. We have a 2 year old that we often bring with us and I've never witnessed any staff at any restaurant being sweeter to my kid, it's not the norm in nyc restaurants so hugely appreciated! They've given him free snacks, juice, and are overall just so pleasant and kind to all patrons. Definitely recommend this place! Food wise my favorites are the miso cod app and the spicy salmon roll. They also have great ramens so you can a little bit of everything. read more

Sapps is my go to sushi spot in Long Island City! I absolutely love their spicy salmon! I also got the crunchy spicy salmon. I wish the crispy was mixed with the spicy sauce. I also love their unagi with eel. They have a good lunch special, if you call in it's less than ordering from an app (and also supports local business directly :). The udon was very good, but the sushi and crispy rice were mediocre. The sushi quality definitely didn't match the delicious-looking cover photo on their website (which is what interested me in trying), and the tuna crispy rice flavors were overwhelmed by an unpleasant sauce. We came here on a Sunday night (the second Sunday they were open) and there was no wait. My boyfriend wanted sashimi/sushi and I wanted ramen so this was the perfect compromise. We loved all the food and hospitality! We started with the graffiti one cup sake which came in an interesting packaging and we ended up taking the rest of the sake home. The matcha tea came for free and was just what we needed after coming in from the cold. We ordered the Tuna Tataki and Blast roll to share, both were delicious! The tuna tataki had a black pepper seasoning that we both loved. My boyfriend orders the sashimi dinner entree and I ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. The fish was really fresh (some just melted into your mouth) and the tonkatsu ramen had some of the best pork belly I've tried. The soup base was light and different than most Tonkatsu ramens I've had but very good and the toppings complemented the soup well. Ask for the chef's selection ahead of time! We ordered the regular dinner sashimi without knowing there was another sashimi option even though the sashimi dinner entree was amazing too we will definitely come back to try the higher end fish options in the chef's selection. Try this place in LIC you won't regret it! The staff here is nice and accommodating and eager to explain the menu as the menu is still a temporary one without a lot of descriptions. LIC doesn't have the too many options yet for sushi which makes this our default go to for sushi. The food was good. It was decent sushi and they most of the standard flavors. Also, the vibe is fantastic and the staff was amazing even though the wait time was a bit long. Overall, this place doesn't really disappoint apart from the price. They are a bit overpriced for the quality/quantity you get and the menu is a bit limited. I will definitely go here again when my next sushi craving arises! read more

Not bad for a low key neighborhood izakaya. There are definitely better options in the city but for being so close to home, I would definitely be coming back and putting this place on our regular rotation! We had the uni bowl here which was amazing, the katsu curry was just ok, Kani salad was good but nothing special, karaage was just ok, and the agedashi tofu was pretty good. Loved their outdoor seating courtyard and the little lights made the atmosphere super romantic and special. Outdoor dining was also pet friendly and they gave our little fur baby some water too! We were so lucky that this place happened to be right across the street from our hotel. The food at this sushi restaurant was just phenomenal. Far from just "average" as some reviewers may have described it as. From the rolls, to the salad, down to the sliced ginger. You could taste the pure freshness of the fish in every single bite. I didn't ever think something like a simple salmon avocado roll could be made notches higher from what I was used to, but oh they did it. Best one I've tried yet. Judging from the simple rolls, I can't even imagine how good their specialty rolls taste. The dressing for the salad was the best salad dressing I've had in a Japanese restaurant- again, didn't think something so small and simple could be made any different. It definitely shows when a place puts effort into every single detail of their food. The presentation, even though it was all takeout also exemplified this. The egg in the ramen bowl was served hot and was just delicious (most places serve them cold). We also got pieces of smoked salmon, which we usually do when we go out for sushi and let me tell you that these pieces were butter soft and kind of just melted in your mouth. Definitely does not compare to other places we've tried. Theres a mix of different eating sections here with a bar on the first floor, lounge booths in the front and some tables in the back for louder social gatherings. Theres a pretty cool hipster mural on the wall that kind of sets the trendy tone for the place. The second level is set up to be more intimate and quiet for that traditional restaurant-like feel. The variation makes it perfect so any type of gathering and company would work! Overall, very high quality food. I'm not kidding when I say this is the best sushi place I've been to, to date. Nice ambience, great vibes and excellent service. My bf and I came during the time of Covid with our healthcare uniforms and were offered some liquor on the house as a little thank you. We've tried several different sushi restaurants during the time of Covid and they were all let downs. Our guess is most places can't keep up with the freshness of their food while theres a lack of demand and business.. but boy did Sapps really prevail and conquer that obstacle! I believe under cooked with no vinegar added. I have had far better grocery store sushi rice. Saved my sushi by just turning it into sashimi. Bad rice = bad rolls. Miso soup was okay, they do this smoked thing with it. Up to you if thats a positive. Service was fine. Seemed more suited for drinks then food. Spent $60, worth $20. read more

Even more so when you see a few Americanized rolls on the menu but don't be fooled Saaps is really fresh and delicious. The staff here is nice and the bathroom was clean, but the tuna and white fish in the chirashi was super chewy. It reminded me of super cheap sushi spots, even though their item wasn't super cheap. Only the salmon was really enjoyable. The shishito peppers are good and they have mochi ice cream, which I liked, but don't recommend the chirashi and probably wouldn't try any of the sushi or sashimi items based on the poor quality of what I tried. I called them back asking if I can refund the roll, the server insisted that have to come in to the restaurant to do it. So I went back, he walked to me like my boss with no smile no apologies at all, like as if I owe him a million dollars. He told me someone else will help me out and walked away, again, like a boss. Came here for a weekday dinner and decided to try their omakase. There was no one to seat us at first and as we stood around awkwardly, a patron at the bar told us to just seat ourselves. Finally a waiter comes over and seats us. Aside from the rocky start, service was good. Clean and casual interior. 14 pieces of sashimi for $45 is a great deal. Fish was fresh, tasty, and oh so creamy. And they were decent sized pieces, not microscopic. Asked for rice to go with it and there was no extra charge. One of the better sushi places in LIC! My friend told me about this spot several times because I actually finally went. From the moment I walked in, I was all about the ambience. It's not your typical quick sushi spot, with its dark-ish fancy decor. We went for lunch and ordered their lunch special. Their special was the perfect size and price. I really was impressed given their located in LIC. Our waitress was super attentive and kind. The service was also super quick. If you're in the mood for a drink, they even have a cute bar to sit at! Parking is horrendous, but you might already know that if you're familiar with the area. Don't get me wrong I love hip hop but it was not hip hop it was super ghetto trap music playing in a Japanese restaurant!
