Pancakes were light and fluffy, waffles with a nice crisp can add blueberries, strawberries, bananas, chocolate chips, a wide variety of hearty omelettes, various meats like crisp bacon, sausages, ham, carne asada, chorizo etc. Burritos, chilaquiles, machaca, rancheros, eggs Benedict, different egg scrambles, the list goes on and on. Everything I've had was delicious. Service was friendly and on point. Food came out promptly, Coffee was kept full. Tables and chairs clean, Hard to find initially, so trust your GPS and turn into the driveway, the signage is poor but the food and service were excellent. If you are pulling into the donut shop you went one driveway too far. Parking is down and behind the building. They have inside and patio seating. Very casual, thumbs up. read more

Came for breakfast and was happy they had outdoor seating as the weather was LOVELY today, drizzle and sunshine on and off, so sitting outside was really nice. The cafe itself is not that big and when we got there, a line as already forming, thankfully most people wanted to sit indoors so we got seated fairly quickly. The food here is delicious, they give you plenty as well. It's definitely enough to share if that's what you like to do. I had a veggie omelette with potatoes and everything was cooked to perfection. Visiting LA from Nashville and traveled down the 5 to San Diego and this was a perfect stop for brunch. We split the Rancho Omelette and a bowl of fruit - was a perfect savory but not too heavy meal before our planned hike at Torrey Pines. I was so impressed with the quality of the hot coffee that I didn't even need cream or sugar, excellent black. The omelette was piping hot and flavored so well, steak was cooked tender and medium well! It's a small intimate vibe but we immediately got seated (week day) and service was like family. Relaxed and kind. We didn't see a restroom, so heads up on that. read more

The local cafe attracts many with there extensive menu of dishes all reasonably priced in todays market. Outside seating and amazing service are added bonus. BEST food and BEST staff. My friends and I have been coming for nine years since we were in high school. We keep coming back for the big portions and the delicious hot chocolate/mochas in the funnest mugs! Great for big parties, I always bring 8+ people. In the search for the perfect post surfing breakfast burrito we stumbled across SC cafe. The staff greeted us immediately and let us choose seating in their patio area with umbrellas for shade. Our party of 2 came here around 10am and there was not a wait for a table. It is a small town cafe vibe with plastic chairs and tables. We both ordered burritos which came with a flight of dipping sauces and salsas which was delicious. The burritos are super delicious . The only thing that was odd was that a cup of regular coffee was $5, but otherwise, a great spot! read more

Located in a small business complex, across the alluring aroma of fresh donuts coming from across the parking lot, you'll find this quaint diner/cafe that serves up some delicious breakfast. SC Cafe provides a dog-friendly patio where I sat and was greeted by the friendly, dog-loving waitress who greeted my dog even more warmly (on both visits). I've tried the Steak and Eggs and Bea's Omelette and both were very enjoyable. The steak portion was plentiful and the meat was flavorful and juicy. The omelette size was large as well and had a bountiful serving of veggies and turkey (which I added on). The dish came with hashbrowns which was cooked perfectly. Crispy outside and a tender, buttery inside. The staff is very friendly, attentive and also thoughtful of my dog; on both occasions they brought her a water bowl. I really enjoy coming here for a morning pit stop while on my way up to LA. Being right off of the freeway with ample parking in the lot and surrounding street, it makes for an easy location to relax and enjoy a fresh, tasty, and hearty breakfast. read more

As far as dive cafes go, this is pretty darn divey, but in a good way. It's quite small inside, with a few tables outside offering minimal shade, but one table does have an umbrella. Service is what bumped SC Cafe up a star, as the food was pretty good, but not much above average compared to other cafes in the same category. Servers and host were very friendly and attentive, and with the tiny place full, four of them were kept pretty busy. They clearly have many regulars, as the staff seemed to know most of the people there. Picture old booths and tables, some with seating on only one side, a couple generations of old floor tiles that are lifted and uneven, an overall dinge factor of an old roadside cafe, coupled with signed surfing magazine covers. The menu has a benedict dish, chicken fried steak and eggs, your usual diner stuff, but also has several Mexican dishes. Chilaquiles: I had this. Unlike many chilaquiles recipes, this one takes on the sauce shortly before serving, so the chips aren't all soft and mushy. This made for a nice texture. It comes with avocado bits and a fairly mild green sauce that is neither very tart, nor spicy. Adding their pico de gallo with jalapeno gives the kick if you want it. It also had sour cream, just the way I like it, and a side of beans that were okay. I opted for two eggs instead of the chicken it comes with, and was pretty happy with it. 3.5/5 stars. Huevos Rancheros: My wife ordered the spicy one that comes with a side of arbol chile salsa. A nice spicy heat but not too much, even for a gringo. The sour cream, shredded cheese, and avocado slices elevated this, but it really needed that salsa, as it was otherwise not very bold in flavor. It also had beans and came with hash browns. 3/5. Coffee was pretty standard, a bit thin, but not as thin as I've had elsewhere. Soju based bloody marys did not taste like what you'd expect if you were expecting a bloody mary. They have a different flavor due to that Korean rice wine as the base, but I didn't mind. I knew what to expect. My wife hated it though. If you want a brunch beverage you might want to stick with the champagne split. That's what everyone else was drinking. Overall I'd say SC Cafe is really a 3.5 star cafe with a grunge factor that makes it interesting and comfortable. Come in with a tank top stained with sunscreen and a damp bathing suit and you'll fit right in. Again, that's a good thing. read more
