Mr Crab Roll - 2nd one that was a much nicer presentation and maybe tastier because of that
    Jon N.

Super friendly and helpful staff in a sleek, clean setting. Nice, approachable sake menu with something for every palate and wallet. Food was really fresh and delicious. We tried a few rolls, and I had some outstanding uni. Low carb rolls intrigued and didn't disappoint. Pressed sushi was good, but way, WAY too much rice. It was the main flavor of the dish and ultimately disappointing - I wouldn't recommend or get again. We both loved the Mr. Crab roll enough to order a 2nd one, and found it incredibly odd that it was a completely different presentation. While, I know, it's not that big a deal, it's weird to see. It is pricey, but it's really good. We'll definitely return.

We decided to drive 35 miles, in the rain, to have Christmas Dinner at Seabutter and to celebrate our daughter's birthday because we love sushi. It was our first time at this restaurant. Reservation was early, at 4:30PM. We got there at 4PM. Nobody was there except for the staff. Our waiter Albert was very knowledgeable and able to describe and suggest different menu items. The fish was definitely fresh and delicious. We tried different ones. Service was super quick as no other tables were there. Prices were reasonable but again, we can't afford to eat that kind of food on a weekly basis anymore, unfortunately. Ambiance was neutral. Bright lights. No Christmas decorations at all (not that we cared) but the restaurant looked clean. I didn't rate it 5 stars only because I mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and they didn't acknowledge it. Not a big deal but it would have been a nice gesture.

been here a few times now and have had a great experience every time. the sushi is always fresh and the service is top tier (they gave us a free appetizer!) i love how good quality the fish is and the flavors and options they have are unique. it's definitely a smaller storefront, but the service and food make up for it every time. recommend for anyone looking for a good sushi place, but be ready to spend a lot since the prices are on the higher end. ordered: pressed sushi - salmon avo salmon truffle spicy tuna crispy rice

I came here on a Friday for a girls dinner out so we could try their pressed sushi. The inside is nice and simple, it's what you'd expect and is an enjoyable atmosphere. We ordered the Pressed Tail and Salmon Avo for the pressed sushi, and a Specialty Roll. The Specialty Roll was amazing and so was their Salmon Avo. We were recommended this restaurant from other friends so we didn't expect any less. The Pressed Tail was interesting, if you like mushrooms on your sushi then I'd say give it a try. I probably wouldn't order it again for personal preference but nice to try for fun. We also ordered dumplings as a side and those were delicious. The service seemed great around the restaurant, but we just didn't get as lucky with our waitress. It's just she barely came to our table, not anything major though. I'd also recommend to others if you are in the Beverly Hills area. They have many items to choose from! I would definitely comeback and try others

This review is based on the Taste of Seabutter - the prix fixe menu The quality of the fish was delicious, this comes with a starter, sashimi, Nigiri, pressed sushi, and hand roll. The nigiri was actually delicious and I do like that the chef puts an effort to season the fish along with the rice, which does add some flavor to the overall experience. The selection was pretty good and standard, you get salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The pressed sushi is an interesting concept, it is essentially a deconstructed roll that is formed into a rectangular prism. My favorite is the specialty nigiri because it has unique fish cuts. The service was great, everything came out fast and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant itself is very clean, Bright, and peaceful. The only thing that I am pressed about is the fact that the taste of sea butter is a bit more expensive versus ordering à la carte. So you are better off ordering off the regular menu. However, if you have nothing better to order, this might be better for you. Fortunately, this is not a showstopper. I did enjoy my overall experience at this restaurant.

This restaurant is charging if you choose to get LESS rice!

Why do you charge for a customer to get LESS rice? Trash. Less rice is less product, you should give a discount.

We found Seabutter on Yelp... great reviews so we had to try. During the holiday weekend since the Americana was so crowded we opted to dine outside the center but still nearby. I called in ahead to make sure there was no wait and luckily we were seated right away. The decor is simple and it didn't feel cramped. We got great recommendations from our waiter. Loved the low carb rolls especially the crunchy radish wrapping instead of rice paper. Fresh sashimi and sushi options!

Ordered take out because I had to lol I usually don't like take out sushi, because it just gets weird and mushy by the time it gets here. But this was different. Very well packed and the sauces were placed separately. I think this is why it was not mushy. I loved everything I ordered. Everything was fresh and light as usual. It's safe to now upgrade them to 5 stars Im glad they maintained their freshness and quality. I also loved the handwritten note.

Service was great, sushi was also really good and priced well, wasn't blown away by the edamame, I'd come back

Blue Crab Cut Roll, 4 stars

Just outside the walls of The Americana on Brand Blvd is Seabutter, a modern sushi restaurant with a large menu served in a minimalist space. Service was very good, and all the items were quite good. Pressed Toro - 4 stars. Their take on pressed sushi works, though I'm not a huge fan of truffle. Spicy Tuna Rice - 4 1/2 stars. Delicious! 2 little bites of creamy tuna with a bit of heat served atop crispy rice. Blue Crab cut roll - 4 stars. Quite good, but a bit forgettable. Chicken Kushiyaki - 4 1/2 stars. 2 delicious and very juicy skewers of chicken. Very small portion, would definitely get two orders next time. 911 Roll - 4 stars. One of the stronger items, packed with flavor and a great texture with the asparagus.

    Marlyn Monroll & Salmon Medley
    Sarah C.

High quality, quick service. I had the marlyn monroll and the salmon medley. I tried a piece of the Mr. Crab roll as well. Fish quality was very good. I especially enjoyed the truffle salmon. The marlyn was tasty with the sauce, but I was a bit surprised by how much I could taste the daikon without it. I've had daikon before but not in sushi. I'd probably skip this roll next time. Mr. Crab was a standout, especially if you like a heartier roll. The price point makes sense for the quality, buuuut if I was hungrier I'd probably prefer a sugarfish set.

I've been ordering on DoorDash from here for a couple of weeks now, and they've been consistently outstanding. The sushi is incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor every time. Easily one of the best spots around--highly recommend.

Ate there last night. This is basically a 3 1/2 star sushi restaurant. I was expecting something a little more, but there wasn't much WOW factor. There is nothing wrong with it, but I can get this sushi anywhere. The ambience is very commercial and cold. It's definitely not a normal Japanese cool sushi restaurant. Service was decent so that is a plus. Prices are fair. It's a table restaurant, not a sushi bar restaurant. The food is OK. The servings were on the smaller side for sushi and rolls. Everything tasted fresh. Unfortunately, you can get this quality at any neighborhood sushi place and I was expecting a higher end cool sushi restaurant as previously mentioned. I would not drive here again, but if you're a local, check it out.

We decided to scan the barcode at the front and join the online waitlist. The wait time was 0 minutes and there were multiple tables open. The restaurant was probably 35% filled. The server who was seating folks sat the group ahead of us and did not even acknowledge us. We ended up waiting 10+ minutes for the server to finally sit us. The many servers were attentive but I think it was to their detrimental as the meal progressed. While we appreciated the constant water filling, we felt very watched when they would take our plates as soon as the last sushi piece was taken off. There were multiple times when I saw servers glance at our table for the plates and it made us feel rushed. Where I was sitting, I could see the servers pacing back and forth and constantly glancing at our table to see if they could clean anything up. I wish they were a tad slower on this part so we could have more uninterrupted time to connect and eat. I was pretty excited to try the food but was left feeling unsatisfied. We got the philadelphia, yuzu drop, alaska samurai, and negihama (yellowtail) handroll. The rice was overcooked and mushy on the Philadelphia roll. I'm not sure why but the fish didn't wow me or taste super flavorful when eaten as a roll. I purposely ate the ingredients separately to get an isolated taste of the fish. The fish quality was okay - I was expecting more. Their salmon was lackluster but the tuna and yellowtail were decent. The ambiance is more modern and folks who seem to go here fit more hipster vibes. Not sure if we would return.

Ambiance is super cute, love the little flags over the sushi/shabu bar and the art on the walls adds to the Japanese restaurant feel. The aroma when you walk in is mouthwatering (I was really hungry) but it doesn't smell fishy like some sushi places can. Staff is unbelievably great, super friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the menu or want recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask what the MP is on omakase, they totally work with what you're looking to spend or based on how many pieces of sushi you want to eat. Now for the real reason to visit Osawa: the food is absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, tasty, perfectly portioned. From the shishito peppers appetizer to the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, and shabu; I cannot recommend this place enough! They have plenty of sake options to pair with your meal as well as beer or specialty cocktails if that's your preference. They offer to explain your order when it arrives which is great for those newer to sushi or just trying something different. Seriously, some of those fish practically melt in your mouth. I personally haven't ordered any rolls yet but they absolutely look delicious. If you're looking for a good sushi date spot, this. is. it. It's also good for a small group, maybe up to five or so before you feel cramped. Shabu is seated at the bar and their meats and veggie are delicious and fresh, enhanced by the tasty broth. After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.

This place only has 22 reviews? We're about to change that…read more I'd seen this place on my Insta and had followed it but hadn't tried it till yesterday when I discovered my go to hibachi delivery place no longer delivered to me. It was only a matter of time because this place was helluva far from where I live. So, my quest for a new hibachi place to deliver to me commenced and this place popped up. That jostled my memory that I had wanted to try it and the rest is history. My go to is always a filet mignon (medium well) combo with shrimp and fried rice. I'm going to be honest, the filet was tender and wonderful but it wasn't medium well. I didn't expect it to be though because other than ordering at a sit down place, this request hasn't ever been fulfilled. For me, this wasn't an issue as the meat wasn't overcooked and everything tasted perfect. The bonus here is that the plate comes with fried rice and you don't have to pay more for that option. Your plate also comes with hibachi style veggies (carrots, broccoli, zucchini and onions) and not frozen "steamed" veggies like some other places. You get six shrimp and a decent amount of beef in my opinion. No matter how much fried rice you give me, I will always say it can come with more because I absolutely carbs. Now for the sauces - listen up, because for me, the sauces are integral to the hibachi experience. You get 4 sauces per order and they will sell you additional ones but that's not an option on a delivery platform (so you'll have to call and work that out with the restaurant). Your options are yum yum (pink sauce), diablo (spicy pink sauce), ginger and garlic butter. The ginger was a tad too salty for me but the rest of the sauces passed the vibe test. Don't be scared off by the name "diablo" - it has a slight kick but you won't be breathing . Shout out to Juan who hooked up this first time girlie with extra sauces so she could try them all and indulge in saucing up her meal. Please note the sauce containers are pretty small. Ya'll think you can start sizing up your sauces? I had a promo code so I needed to order a certain minimum. I refused to pay for soda when I have tons here so I went with a side of veggies. The platform said steamed veggies so when I called Juan, I made sure they were hibachi style veggies and not steamed (they were hibachi style). One recommendation would be to offer a side of fried rice. I'd much have preferred that over the veggies. I hope this is an option next time I order. My food arrived warm and I devoured it. I will no longer shed tears over the loss of my other hibachi spot as I've found one I'm just as happy with. As provided above, not only was my food a yummy in my tummy experience, the customer service offered by Juan was also superb. Support this joint and don't you guys leave the Eagle Rock area or I'll once again lose my hibachi go to.

They keep your water filled, and they're quick to refill wasabi and ginger without you even having to ask. It's bar seating only, which can be a little tricky for a shorty like me to hop up and down from, but the food and service make it worth it. There are no reservations, just walk‑in, but the service is fast and I've never had to wait. Plus, they offer free parking validation for 2 hours, which is a huge bonus. Always reliable, always delicious -- Kazunori never disappoints!

They have multiple locations across the Southern California area including this one near Old Town Pasadena. They do not reservations and you wait in line until there are open seats for your party. We came at around 6pm on a Friday evening and were seated immediately for a party of two. When we left at around 7pm there was a long line waiting so I recommend coming earlier. I recommend coming with a smaller party. They have different presets of hand rolls by count (3 to 6) where 6 is the most popular. The chef hands each roll to you individually and you're expected to eat it immediately to ensure the seaweed is crisp and the rice is warm. I got the 6-hand roll set ($29) which included toro, yellowtail, salmon, bay scallop, crab, and lobster. My favorites were the salmon, bay scallop, and crab. I also got the eel hand roll ($5.75) which was also good. If you want to be surprised, there's The Nozie which is their omakase style 6 hand roll set.
