We got 2 bowls of beef noodle soup (one spicy, one mild), popcorn chicken, fried squid, spicy cucumbers, boiled dumplings, dragon dumplings, fried green beans and chicken wings. I'm glad the happy hour portions were easily shareable so we could try a variety of dishes. Everything was fresh and made to order and my favorite was the green beans! The chicken was good but it could have used more five spice as it didn't really taste like the popcorn chicken I've had in Taiwan and was much more bland. The beef noodle soup was also on the sweeter side and not as rich as other times I've been to Seasons. Finally have a chance to try Seasons Taiwanese Eatery after they moved to the new location in Chinese Cultural Plaza. The location is bigger, cleaner and brighter than the old location. Service was pretty good. I ordered the classic beef noodles (台式牛肉麵). Taste was fine but I would prefer they make the soup hotter as my soup was just warm. The beef was tender. I also ordered the pork dumpling which's always my favorite. However, I think they overcooked the dumpling and the skin was too soft and soggy. I tried their popcorn chicken at the previous location before and it tasted very good. It's a bit pricey on the food quantity. Really super enjoyed this place. We stumbled here on a Saturday night at cultural plaza. The area is dicey but this little place shines like a little oasis. Restaurant is clean, bright, friendly staff with yummy food. We love this small business. We ordered potstickers, tofu bean sprouts and beef noodle soup. It was all very tasty! This is a family business and they place pride in their offerings. We opted for not spicy but the soup was still flavorful. Haven't been back in over 2 years but the food is just as good as I remember. The popcorn chicken is still the best on island. Crispy and moist. The spicy beef noodle soup is not super spicy and has lots of flavor. We got ours combo style which is beef & tendon. He also recommended we try the black pepper oxtail. It was so good. That sauce is chefs kiss on rice. I've been back a couple of times since I started this review 4 months ago. We consistently always get the popcorn chicken, beef noodle soup, and a rotation of the sausage, something with the pork sauce - my favorite so far is the pork sauce over noodles. I wish this wasnt in a plaza where i had to pay for parking, if it wasn't i would've came here a lot sooner. Ive seen photos of the food before and its been on my radar for a long time however i find it a hassle trying to get out to this area. Buuuut now that I've tried it i regret not having come sooner lol! The menu has a bunch of classic taiwanese foods. I tried the beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, and braised pork rice. The food here is amazing every time I come. My favorites are definitely the popcorn chicken and the beef noodle soup. I do have to be careful of the spice levels because I thought I was a 2 in the soup but I am definitely a 1. I was not as bad as other guests because I saw someone washing off their beef in a cup of water after probably ordering it too spicy. I love Taiwanese food but Hawaii unfortunately doesn't really have much options (I only know of one other restaurant). I'm glad my friend chose here for her birthday dinner because this has been on my bookmarks for a hot minute. Parking in Chinatown/Cultral Plaza is always a hit or a miss; street parking is ideal for me but if you can't find any, there is a parking garage for the area! Always be aware of your surroundings because it's not the safest area especially at night We got there before 5:30 PM and tell me why they already sold out all of their dumplings!!! Because they're homemade, they only have a limited quantity each day so keep that in mind if you are looking forward to that. My friends and I decided to do family style so that we could try a little bit of everything. We got the Combo Beef/Tendon Noodles, Large (you will regret getting a medium) Popcorn Chicken, Egg Pancake Roll, and Taiwanese Sausages. We enjoyed everything but our absolute favorite had to be the Popcorn Chicken! They are so addicting and exceptionally flavorful, even their Thai Basil leaves (crispy af) I would definitely come back just for that. I'm usually pretty picky about beef tendon but I say they passed my standards here The only thing we all didn't care for too much were the Taiwanese Sausages. ***4.5 STARS*** Social media brought it to my attention that Season's Taiwanese Eatery (STE) recently moved to a larger location, the space previously occupied by Pho 88 and Legend Vegetarian Restaurant. I noticed that their menu and business hours expanded where I wanted to drag family here for an early dinner. The other week I gathered the family one late afternoon on a weekday where I called in ahead of time for reservations. I was delighted as the staff guided us to their private dining room with a round table and a lazy Susan, ideal for family-style dining. Each person ordered their own bowl of noodles and I took the liberty of getting a handful of sides to supplement our meal. I admired the staff advising us the minimum 20min wait time for the Taiwanese sausage which was fine with. This actually led to high expectations. The wait time for the food didn't seem long as the appetizers came first, one by one. Standouts were the chicken wings and Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The chefs sure know how to deep fry. Food came out piping hot and seasoned nicely. The dumplings were also delicious. They were boiled and served plump. Tomato with eggs is a classic Chinese dish but they used canned tomatoes instead. It was still delicious but canned tomatoes brought a different texture where I'm not really a fan of. The noodles were impressive with generous portions. However, the flavor was just okay for us. Also, I would have appreciated the soup served hotter. Service was above average. The staff are trained well and appreciated the manager (?), who came into our dining room several times to check up on us. There is something very primitive about this--I'm not a Chinese person yet their savory and peppery goodness left an addictive yearning. Note to self next time: order a beer with the chicken. The braised beef tendon was a melt-in-your mouth texture. It satisfied a craving that my friend and I had for this beloved dish. The stir fried ong choy was not overly cooked but also not tough. The pork sauce rice was a tasty accompaniment to the meal and a good alternative to plain white rice. Seasons has everything I'm looking for when it comes to noodles and Taiwanese comfort food. I went with a couple of friends and we split the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the Dragon dumplings in chili oil. The popcorn chicken was so crispy and well-seasoned, and the fried basil crisps were also delicious. The dragon dumplings tasted amazing! They were very fluffy and the chili oil was the right amount of spicy and sour. The highlight for me were the noodles, though! I ordered the retro spicy beef noodles. You can order either beef, tendon, or a combination; you can also choose your spice level from 1-5. I ordered mine with combination meat and level 2 spicy. The noodles are springy and have the perfect texture, and the beef is very tender. There is so much flavor in the broth, too! Seasons is located on the first floor of Chinatown Cultural Plaza, just across from Legend. For parking, you can either park in the paid structure on site or street parking if you're fine with walking a little further. Even though they close at 8, I highly recommend you come earlier as they do run out of noodles sometimes. Service is great! #28 of 52 (weeks of trying a new restaurant at least once a week). I saw a review of this restaurant on Instagram and I bookmarked it for a future visit. We decided on a recent Saturday to check it out. I heard that it was a little small inside so we made sure we were there close to opening. When we walked in there were only a couple tables left. Not long after we got there they started a waiting list. I wanted to try so many things and we ended up ordering too much. We ordered four dishes which were Spicy Sauce Cucumber (with szechuan pepper) $7, Chef's Special Spicy Broth noodles level 1 with Beef (or so we thought) $18.98, Dragon Dumplings (spicy chili oil) $15.98 and Salt and Pepper Fried Shrimp $13.98. The cucumber's came first and there were a lot. I ordered them because I knew we were getting spicy food so I figured the cucumber would be nice and cool and help with the heat. The cucumber dish had a lot of garlic in it. It was good but I learned eating at this restaurant that I'm not a fan of szechuan pepper. After eating a bit we realized it made the water taste funny. It was still good though and helped with the heat. We put it to the side to wait for the other food to come out. Everything came out separately and some dishes took longer than others. Also the servers seemed confused as people kept bringing the wrong food to the tables and the man in the kitchen kept yelling at them and coming out to the dining room to show them table numbers. Next up the dumplings. The dumplings themselves were SO good! The filling was flavorful and the wrapper was so soft and silky. However the spicy chili oil advertised on the menu was szechuan pepper sauce so again I didn't love the sauce. Next time we'll get their regular dumplings. Next up was the noodle soup. Now when I ordered this I said beef and the server said combo and I said no, beef. We did this like 4 times and I figured she understood we wanted beef. We ended up with the combo which was beef and tendon. I decided not to send it back because this was after we'd seen so many dishes go to the wrong table and servers get yelled at. I did try tendon for the first time but I wasn't a fan. We ended up eating all around the tendon. The broth was good and the beef was delicious. We'd been waiting for our last dish for a while and were done with everything else. I thought maybe they'd forgotten about it but finally it came out. The shrimp was the star of the meal. Perfectly cooked, crunchy and so flavorful. I'd come back just for that. It was our first taste of Taiwanese food and even though I don't love szechuan peppers there is plenty offered here that doesn't have that and what we ate was good. It was so much more than a meal, it was a culinary experience, an all expense paid tour of flavortown USA with the VIP experience. I cannot express how great a time we all had. We were advised that we were overordering from the get go. We argued. Eventually a settlement was made, but Chef was willing to tolerate our hubris. Unlike Icarus, we did concede and adjust our altitude to one slightly lower. Was it still too much, yes. Were we upset? Absolutely not. We stand by our decision. Our cup runneth over with flavor. The food here is authentic. Everything is made to order so you can't be in a rush to eat. When we fist stepped inside, we were excited as you hear lots of people speaking Taiwansese so you know you are in for the real deal. The flavors here are bigger, bolder and can be very spicier if you are not careful. They have three different types of beef noodle soups which we ordered one of each. The retro spicy broth, the classic beef brother and classic beef broth. We also got the chef special where the chef actually combines all three flavors into one. It's almost like a chop Sui of Taiwanese noodle soup which actually tasted really nice. One thing is clear when eating here is the taste of the mala pepper aka Sichuan peppers. It leaves your mouth and tongue tingling a little unless you order a level 3 or higher to which it might make your mouth on fire and begging for some milk to cool it down. One of our friends who is Korean and loves hot food did a level 5 and she kept saying she was humbled. The staff gave her extra regular broth to try and level down the level 5 spice broth. When the regulars heard she ordered a level 5 spice, they Oooohed and Awwwwwed and some clapped as they know it takes a real lover of spice to eat it. I had their Black Pepper Sauce Rice Combo and it came with a Winter Melon Tea drink. We also ordered their Popcorn Chicken that was served with fried basil leaves (yum). We got a little bit of everything but the two stands out: the chicken wings and the spicy beef noodle soup. I ordered the spiciest one and the chef/owner did confirm that's what I wanted. Yeah, don't be silly - even if you eat relatively hot; this is probably way more than you need. The amount of chili in this it's more gravy-like than broth. The noodles are bouncy, the beef is tender, I'd say a Level 3 would be just right. Level 5 while you might be able to do it, you will pay for that the next two days. I absolutely love braised beef tendon because of the soft texture and they did not disappoint. It was very garlicky and the portions were decent for three. Service for it was insanely fast. I also got the taiwanese chicken and it's just like the one I tried in Taiwan. Seasoning was on point and chicken came out hot and fresh. We've visited restaurants and cultural activities in the Chinatown Cultural Plaza since the late 70s. The plaza has become rundown, and at times, very few customers are roaming about except for weekends or special events. Although several original tenants exist, mainly Chinese restaurants and one or two jewelry stores, many other businesses have come and gone. Sometime around the mid-90s, when boba tea drinks became popular in America, we noticed a Taiwanese boba tea and shaved ice 刨冰 (baobing Mandarin or tshuah-ping Taiwanese Hokkien) shop called "Seasons Ice and Eatery" located near the plaza's centerstage, but because we've not indulged into the milk tea craze back then, we never bothered to go in. However, we still loved Taiwanese and Hakka cuisine at several local and Mainland restaurants. Since returning from our Southeast Asian cruise, our tastebuds were further excited by rediscovering Japanese, Hong Kong-style, Singaporean, Vietnamese, and Taiwanese cuisines. We wandered into the recently opened, or "reopening," of Seasons Taiwanese Eatery in the Chinatown Cultural Plaza. This restaurant moved into a more prominent and well-staffed location across from the Legends Seafood Restaurant. We also discovered the chef/owner is the couple's son who used to run the former and smaller eatery around the corner. The chef/owner is professionally trained and well-educated, and he honors his heritage by featuring his family's recipes. FOOD: -Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken: these crisp-fried, bite-sized, and well-seasoned tender boneless chicken pieces are one of Taiwan's most famous street foods. The twice-fried marinated chicken pieces are seasoned with hints of Chinese five-spice powder, white pepper, garlic, ginger, and, I think, Shaoxing wine. The marinade and seasoning bring out an aromatic, spicy, and savory flavor profile, while its crisp fry exudes a satisfying crunchy texture. We heartily recommend these humble, juicy ground pork, Chinese chive dumplings, and Taiwan's famous xiaolongbao (XLB) or soup dumplings. $14.98 -Classic Beef Broth (Beef & Tendon Combo): Red-braised beef noodle soup is iconic and called Taiwan's national dish for its comforting wheat noodles in a rich, savory, yet slightly spicy simmered beef broth topped with tender-cooked beef and beef tendon with a spoonful of pickled mustard green. The aromatic and deep-rich dark brown colored broth owes its flavors and colors from soy sauce, fermented bean paste and spices such as cinnamon, star anise, cassia bark, garlic, ginger and more. The serving portion is huge and we split a bowl of noodles everytime we eat here. $16.98 We have eaten at this eatery several times within the past month and have tried their Taiwanese sausage (served with raw garlic slices) which brings back taste memories from a street market at Taiwan's Yeliu Geopark and Raohe Street Night Market. However, we consistently order the Taiwanese fried chicken and boiled pork and chive dumplings since these dishes exemplify modern Taiwanese dishes with its aggressive herbal and deep umami flavors of basil, garlic, and green onions (scallions). Recently, we've ordered the Pork Sauce Noodle (dry) which is also a Taiwanese signature dish since pork meat is more highly prized than beef and requested Level 1/5 spice level. WOO! We could see why patrons are warned to not exceed spice level 3 as both of us perspired profusely while eating this dish. Even though our mouths were burning from the chilies, the noodle dish was very flavorful. Several other patrons' mouths were "burning" from higher spice levels, so they ordered soft-serve ice cream to extinguish the fiery burn. However, we finished our noodle dish and agreed to order it without spice the next time. We'll be back as we may attempt to eat our way through the tasty menu. read more

Beautiful atmosphere and very clean. Inviting with restroom available and a private room that seats a party of 8. Staff is very pleasant and there is always a friendly greeting. Especially liked the chicken wings, tofu, popcorn chicken, fried beans, ox tail, and dumplings. read more

Still so consistent... even with a bigger location it still maintains that nice crispy of the fried chicken, the taste of the broth and noodles. I recommend the Taiwanese Sausage and Fried Chicken. Their new item of Black Pepper Broth is good as well, give it a try! read more

The place had pretty good reviews so decided to take the trip out to try it out. It's located in Chinatown and in a bit shady area. Once you're in the restaurant the place feels dated. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered beef noodle soup, dumplings, popcorn chicken, garlic spinach, braised pork intestines. Most food items were ok. The beef noodle soup was one of most bland soup we've ever had and we've tried many authentic Taiwanese food in Maryland/Virgina/DC area. The popcorn chicken was covered by way too much basil and only had couple pieces of chicken buried in it. When we asked to use the bathroom they had to give us a wooden spoon with a key attached to it and had to unlock a door to go down a creepy long hallway filled with cockroaches and then had to type in a passcode to enter the bathroom. The bathroom itself was clean though. Honestly, I wouldn't make the trip to visit again. Not sure where all the good reviews came from or maybe we just picked the wrong dishes. Ona venture to try somewhere new, we made the drive to Chinatown to try out Seasons Taiwanese Eatery. I had delicious beef noodle soup a few years ago in Taiwan and I've been on the hunt for a good one since. This one lived up to my expectations. We ordered one Classic Beef Broth and one Retro Spicy Broth (level 2). Both were delicious! We also ordered Spicy Sauce Eggplant, Dragon Dumplings, and Fried Chicken Wings. The wings were our tables favorite! Glad I found a great Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup! I'll definitely be back. read more

This business is across from Legends at Chinese Cultural Plaza. This is my first time visiting them at their new location. There is so much to choose from menu. Decor is nice. My order for beef noodle soup came out in 10 minutes. Beef was tender and noodles was chewy. I have to come again. read more

Seasons Eatery has been around for quite sometime. They moved into a larger location and honestly it's one of the BEST places to go for homey comfort Taiwanese food. Their popcorn chicken is one of my favorites followed closely by their pork sauce eggplant dish. They're known for their dumplings and beef soup dishes. They're located in the Chinese cultural plaza structure, and parking is quoted by the hour. I highly recommend this hole in the wall gem!! read more

The service at this restaurant is top notch. They sat me at a high top chair, but I asked if we could be moved (I was recovering from a broken ankle) and they were so understanding. The chef was funny and knowledgeable. The restaurant is small, but there is good seating and it was quiet. The food is what really makes this place a standout. Everything is so flavorful and delicious. The dumplings were my favorite, but the popcorn chicken was a close second. The beef noodle soup was so fragrant and delicious too. Service - we were sat quickly since it was lunch time and were frequently checked on. Ambiance and decor is simple. Food: Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken - We got them with a little bit of spice. They were so good. I love that they fry the basil with it. Beef Noodle Soup - The broth was hearty but also simple with the chewy noodles and tender beef. I really liked it and know that everyone makes it a little differently. Thus , personally I have had other beef noodle soup I enjoyed a little more Dragon dumplings (in chili oil sauce) - I really liked the flavor of the dumplings and we did get a good amount of dumplings too read more

This place tasted like home! I could NOT recommend it enough. I've been searching so long for a great Taiwanese spot in town and this is gonna be the one. The moment I walked in and smelled the aromatic braises, I knew it was gonna be amazing. Also as a Taiwanese girl who loves intestines, this is the spot- braised, stir fried, they got 'em. The braised tendon was also super tender and flavorful, the popcorn chicken crispy and with a properly AMPLE portion of fried basil, and the fried tofu super crisp with a warm jiggly interior. I would have been so stoked if they had stinky tofu, but apparently you can't import it to Hawai'i!! Maybe one day , So much more stuff I wanna try on the menu, but if anything I'd opt for a different variant of the standard beef noodle soup we got- it was nice and light but I was missing the spicy fatty richness that heavier versions offer. Overall, definitely a 5/5, with amazing staff too who were just so sweet! Can't wait to come back :) read more
