Adding a voice to the many recommendations for this stall in the Granville market. Absolutely delicious! The pork was super crispy, which I loved. The sauce had a little kick if you are REALLY sensitive to heat, but was fabulous poured over the rice. The food was quite hot, and is served in a paper box. It made it tricky to carry outside but there isn't really a better option. Pull your sleeves over your hands into little sweater paws and be on your way!

FOOD - Pad Ga Pao: ground chicken stir-fried with basil, green beans, bell peppers, and onions over rice. This was sooo good. It had really good flavor and a slight kick. My picky son approved. 5/5 - Crispy Thai Garlic Wings: chef's kiss! 5/5 SERVICE: Fast and friendly. 4/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would definitely come back. Price was a little steep but the food was delish!

A solid spot for Thai in the Granville Food Court. The food comes out hot and fresh. I got the Pad Thai and it was delicious. It comes with tofu and the flavors are yummy. The spice here can be quite hot, so don't go for the highest unless you have a good tolerance for spicy.

Beef pad siew: Chewy & fresh rice sheet noodles with tender Chinese broccoli and beef
    Tiffany P.

I found this Thai gem in the Granville food court! After one bite of the beef pad siew, I was HOOKED. The fresh rice sheet noodles surprised me most; They're translucent with an addicting chewiness, unlike any other pad seiw I've tried. The umami sauce had a surprising kick of heat. Beef and chinese broccoli were well seasoned and tender. We liked the beef pad siew so much that we ordered the same dish again within an hour. The credit card reader rejected my duplicate purchase as an error and refused to process my payment. However, cheerful staff successfully troubleshooted the error! This was a delicious experience that left me full but still wanting more. Compliments to the chef(s)!

    Pad See Yew with Beef

I ordered the Pad See Yew with Beef ($16.17 USD) and not bad but felt like it was a bit overpriced. I thought the dish had a good flavor but wished the beef were slices of meat instead of ground beef chunks. Also asked for some chili flakes to spice up the dish. Good place to visit if you're craving some Asian food or Thai food in the area.

I came here in high hopes after seeing everyone's raving reviews. I wasn't sure how I felt about it and I think I finally decided that I don't like it. Now, don't get me wrong, it doesn't taste bad but it isn't rocking my world like the other reviews led me to believe it would do. For $22, I got a half filled paper box. This might have been one of the most expensive dishes I've gotten on my Vancouver trip so far. The noodles were transparent, glass-noodle like with an extra chewy quality. Not the soft fresh rice noodles I've come to be accustomed to. the beef was ground beef, and there was lots of oil. The favor was sweet and mild, really different than pad siew I've had in the past. Tastes like a completely different dish. Now, the dish is still good but definitely not mind-blowing and not $22 good for a very small proportion. Don't write this place off if you're open to new twists on food and like trying food, but don't expect too much of it. I've tried it, decided it isn't for me, and for the sake of my wallet I won't be eating here again. There is simply too much good and cheap food in Vancouver for me to eat here.

probably the closest thing to thailand's pad see ew (and the closest we'll ever get to world peace) i lichrally took one bite and died and transcended into heaven and came back to earth. the only critique i have is that it would be 10/10 if the beef wasn't so ground beef + if the eggs were more eggy/ larger... but the glass or rice noodle is saur good that it still blew my mind and i would come back multiple times for her. crunchy texture but also so smooth and chewy UGH I LOVE i heard so many good reviews about sen pad thai and i had to try it while i was here on granville island. service is super quick and friendly as well! love the markets around

This place is located in the food court area in Granville Island. It's order and find a table. Depending on the time, it can be difficultly to find a table inside. There is some public table seating outside. My favorite place in the Granville food court. Food is like quality home cooked family meals. Portion and price is good, considering it's in Granville. Servers are friendly and stay on top of the orders. Just make sure to come check on your order after an appropriate amount of time.

Good place to eat if you're visiting Grandville Island. There are many food options, but this one always satisfies. The pork and rice dish is very tasty. It comes crispy or braised. While both are delish, I prefer the braised. Tried the pad see yew this time and it was great! Just enough kick of spice and good flavor in the beef and veggies. The people are nice and do their best to fulfill orders. It can get really busy, but that's true of all the food places here. It's open seating for all so stay alert for any open tables. This place is a go-to when we're here.

    Solid Pad Thai with crabmeat
    Rebecca C.

I heard about Angus An and was eager to try when I saw that she has a casual stall at Granville Island. I ordered the Pad Thai (mild) with crab meat - never heard of Pad Thai that were spicy before, I regretted not trying the medium spicy version instead . It was solid but somewhat standard. The crabmeat lacked flavor so I would advise trying chicken version instead. The curries looked really great, sauce vibrant in color. Wish that I had more time to try other dishes. Also they are super covid conscious. The lady taking the oder uses tongs to put the napkins and utensils into the takeaway bag with utmost efficiency. Looks like a well run place.

    Pad Thai Goong
    Camille L.

I had to try their pad Thai Goong. It was amazing! In it we're medium firm tofu and shrimps. It wasn't too sweet. The salt and sweetness was so balanced. The bean sprouts, ground peanuts and chives gave it a nice crunch. No wonder it's very popular on Yelp. They don't have a large menu but are good choices and great textures especially for foodies. Do not miss this one. What I ordered cost $19.50 Canadian dollars and totally worth every bite. I would order or try the other stuff on the menu if I had the time. But my thing is always go for the pad Thai with whatever meat i like because that's how I will know if the rest of the foods will be promising. I said, "my thing".

    Clarence E.

The wings! Yes, we ordered wings that had a wonderful spice and crisp to them. Piping hot and packed with flavor. The dipping sauce I did without but others liked it. I can't speak for other items in the menu since I zeroed in on wings after a disappointing meal at the pot pie place (avoid it). So I was making up for utter disappointment and I was very nicely rewarded. Next time I'll come here first!!

    The crispy pork belly!
    Carolyn L.

Get the roasted crispy pork belly! I asked if I could just get the crispy pork belly on its own instead of the rice dish stated in the menu. And yes, I could order it as a side ($7). It came with some vegetable garnishing and a dip which was unexpected but very good together. The skin was still very crispy and the meat was fairly tender. Some parts had a strong gamey taste though it was not so bad overall. I usually do not order pork or most meat as I do not like the strong gamey taste. Avoid if you are sensitive to that. I also had the pad pa kra (minced chicken with holy basil stir fry) on rice. I requested to add on a fried egg but the staff forgot or did not hear me. Good thing I was not charged extra. It was surprisingly decent as it was already cooked and left to keep warm in a pot. It just lacked the wok hei since it was not made to order. It was a bit spicy so I did not have to add on more chili flakes to it. It was a big box and I did not finish it. I had it as leftovers and fried up eggs to add to it the next day. Delicious! Decent Thai food here.

The ordering system is similar to Ichiran Ramen; you can choose the noodle firmness, broth consistency, spiciness, green onions, oil level, and MSG amount . The basic ramen is only $13. I added a soft-boiled egg and pickled cabbage for $2 each. Although the pickled cabbage is really expensive , I can't help it, I'm a pickled cabbage addict! The pickled cabbage paired with the rich tonkotsu broth was refreshing. The broth was flavorful but not greasy, the noodles were chewy and springy, and the portion size was just right. Overall, it's incredibly good value for money; no wonder there's always a queue. After eating, you really get that "Ah~ this is the taste of happiness" feeling

I simply chose the ramen version without all the add ons. The broth was yummy but again with the loaded seeds, it made it challenging to just drink the soup. I…read moredecided to check it out for dinner, mostly to check it off my list of Japanese restaurants to try. As a transit user, It's conveniently located across the street from chinatown stadium skytrain station. I like that it opens a bit later until 10pm so i can go there after an evening movie at international village a 5 minute walk away. There was basically no queue to order so i was able to order as soon as i walked into the restaurant. I told the staff i was a first time customer and asked what was the most popular dish, and they said number 5 which is the nikutama udon. It comes with sweet beef, BK sauce, and onsen eggs on top of thick udon noodles. The braised sweet beef was alright in terms of flavor and it definitely hit the spot. It's by far the best ingredient in the udon. I had never tried onsen eggs before, and I didn't really care for them. It's basically eggs that were cooked slowly at a low temperature. The texture and appearance is unusual in my opinion. i thought the nikutama udon overall was pretty good and it has unique flavors and ingredients. It's not amazing but I can understand why people love the unique BK sauce's flavors. There's not many customization options but you can get the dish served hot or cold, and you can choose to get a regular version or larger version for only $1.50 more. There's apparently a lot of hype around the BK sauce but i didn't find it that great. It has a unique combination of salty, sweet, and smoky flavors. The portion size is a little smaller than i prefer so i'd definitely get the large size. But i think most people will find the regular size just fine. I was able to eat my whole dish within 5-7 minutes and im not a person that wolfs down their meal quickly. Price-wise, the cost of their udon is fair. They are around $12-13. Slightly cheaper than other ramen places. The tempura add-ons are expensive in my opinion but I saw lots of folks buying them anyways. At the time, other ramen places like Kinton Ramen had a $15 set meal, which I thought was a better deal because it came with a special summer drink and gyoza. I wish Marugame's nikutama udon had something like this. Like adding a choice of a couple tempura and a drink for a similar price. The dining area was a little smaller than expected because half of it was closed at the time. But I was still able to find a seat at the counter where i could eat my dish. They don't use a wait staff but it's cafeteria style where you get the food at the counter and bring your dish to the table, and bring it back to the cleaning area yourself. I like that you can get your own water at a tap, napkins, utensils, and cups too instead of asking for them at the counter. The dining area was pretty clean and spacious. Overall, I give Marugame 4 stars out of 5. You should definitely check it out at least once if you are a fan of Japanese udon. Try the nikutama udon with BK sauce and see if you'll like it too.

Then you move left where you can self-serve the tempura items, and then pay at the cashier. Utensils, sauces, and water are off to a counter in the seat area, and there's a return area to bring back your empty bowls/trays. Not super busy when we got there on a weekend night, but filled up as an event at BC Place was ending. We got the beef udon with the classic soup, the beef rice bowl that has the runny egg, the chicken katsu curry udon, and a few tempura items. My favorite was definitely the curry udon, since the curry soup/sauce had more flavor. Out of the fried items, the shrimp tempura is delicious, and the zucchini tempura has a nice sweetness to it. Udon noodles were pretty good, has a nice solid texture to them. Overall bill was $50ish for 3 people. And since this is basically fast food, you don't necessarily have to tip.
