Bossam and soondae with soup and banchans

First time eating at the Korea Town Plaza food court and the food was delicious! This will be my go to spot when I'm craving soondae since my bf is not a fan so he will have plenty of other options to choose from. I ordered the small bossam (boiled pork wrap) and the soondae (Korean blood sausage) with mixed offals and the total was around $55. The portion is very reasonable for the price. The small size is definitely enough for 2 people. I had plenty of leftovers for dinner. The ladies that work there were very nice and friendly although we had a language barrier but I was able to order without much trouble. Also, they validate parking which is a plus.

    #17 Budae jjigae

I have come to the Koreatown plaza on countless occasions but I have never stopped and enjoyed the offerings at the food court. That stops now! For my very first experience I chose Seoul Soondae House Town and I was not disappointed. With so many delicious options it was tough to choose. If I'm being completely honest I was still feeling the effects of a late night out so I opted for the kitchen sink - #17 Budae jjigae. For ~$15 you get it all, noodles, spam, hotdog, tofu, and vegetables. Not to mention the little banchan as well. It was fast, easy, and delicious. I will definitely be going back to try more.

    Soondae!!

When you walk into a dingy food court, rife with neon signs and Korean grandparents, you KNOW you're in for some mind blowing food. I came here with a friend who praised the soondae here so effusively I was half expecting it to fall short. I'm very pleased to say I was wrong. We ordered the soondae to go and it was MASSIVE. It came out steaming and was served with two dipping sauces. Honestly we didn't even need the dips, the soondae was THAT flavorful. Each soft, succulent bite was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. I've never had soondae this flavorful. Despite knowing we had dinner plans after, we still polished off a whole line of this fantastic soondae. This was a fantastic quality and quantity of soondae for the price, and I will be craving this spot like crazy from now on.

Don't let the fact that they're in a food court fool you!!! Their Bosam is some of the best I've had and always worth the drive. The small will easily feed 2 people, the pork is always freshly made and served warm, melts in your mouth!!!!! At $22 for a small, $27 for a large, it's beyond expectations!!

Large soondae, no gan, wee and hyuh only, hyuh is good Comes out super quick, solid solid

    Cod
    Jenny L.

We had the Cod which was the most expensive thing on their menu. My white American mother in law was scared away with the tiny bones in this dish, so make sure you know your audience when you order food for them. The cod was delish and melted off the bone. They also provide 3 little sides of kimchi varieties. I even enjoyed the semi- rude cashier lady to took our money and kept shoo'ing me away when I continued to check in on our food. If you're looking for an authentic Korean experience, come to this food court.

Hands Down! These Ladies know hot to cook collagen rich Ox Knee soup ! Im so thrilled ! Portion is generous, side dishes are plenty and soup is so tasty, and clean. I enjoy the fact that we add our own salt and pepper depends on our choice of preference. So fulfilling and comforting the belly and gut. My healthy diet thanks you for that nutritious and delicious authentic dish. I am so surprised that there wasn't even a touch of scent to disturb but just deliciousness ! Definitely recommend, worth every penny !

    Soondaw bokkeum: pretty good
    Josh B.

I love a good Soondae Bokkeum (stir fry blood sausage) and this place has it pretty good. Located in the food court of the Koreatown Plaza, this place was pretty packed with families who were taking a break from shopping and looking to fuel up. The Soondae Bokkeum was pretty good but a little overpriced. The portion are pretty sizable, but I was a bit surprised to see how much more expensive this dish was compared to everything else. Not the best I've ever had but not a bad option to have if I'm really trying to fulfill a craving.

If you're an OG in ktown, you know just how amazing the KTP food court is. There's nothing fancy or flashy about this food court. All the food is well priced at least a B+, and Seoul Soondae House is no exception. I got their boodaejjigae (army stew) and it was everything I could've asked for. There aren't a lot of restaurants in Ktown that sell Army stew so whenever I find one, I always try it out. The broth was rich and spicy and it was loaded with veggies and meats. My friend got food from another food stand, but he was eyeing my food the entire time. If you've never tried Army stew, I would highly recommend trying out Seoul Soondae.

    Soondae Guk
    Alice H.

I asked for only soondae because I don't eat the other things like liver and intestines, and the grandma kindly said sure! They gave me a whole bunch of soondae in my bowl, and honestly, the broth and the soup was one of the best I've had in a while. They add the perilla seeds too which boosts the flavor. The side dishes are very complementary as well. Definitely coming back because this soondae guk tasted like home.

We came as a group of 9 and thankfully, they allow for reservations if you are a group of 8 or bigger. Take note! Especially in this LA peak heat. We checked in with the valet and they gave us menus as we waited about 15/20 minutes for the table to be ready. You will need to order before you are seated and you cannot order anymore food once you are seated, given how popular they are, this makes plenty sense. We were seated inside with cooling AC and the restaurant is quite large inside! It could certainly have several parties in there. Soon, our galbi kalguksu, XL chicken kalguksu, tteokbeokki and XL pork jowl and pork belly bossam showed up. Everything was extra delicious and fresh. The soups in both the galbi and chicken kalguksus were amazing and the hand pulled noodles were divine. We drank and ate everything up quickly. The tteokbeokki was delicious, but too spicy so the rest of the party was able to enjoy it. The bossam was all so tender and had just enough napa and garlic to go with it along with the many unique sauces we could dip all the meats in. Everyone left feeling happy and it satisfied everyone's palates.

It was one of my favorite spots for kalguksu, so I was excited to come back. We visited on a Saturday around 2:00 PM. The first thing that stood out was the wait. There was a line outside despite there being numerous vacant tables inside the restaurant. I'm not sure why customers were expected to wait outside, especially during the current LA heat wave, when seating appeared to be available. While waiting, we were given menus. The first thing I noticed was the price increase. The clam kalguksu is now $22.99, which felt quite expensive, even accounting for inflation. Once seated, we were served the rice with doenjang paste and the three varieties of kimchi. Unfortunately, I found almost all of the kimchi to be noticeably saltier than I remembered, with the exception of the radish kimchi, which was enjoyable. I honestly don't remember the kimchi tasting this salty in the past. It even made us wonder whether it was intended to discourage customers from requesting refills, though I hope that wasn't the case. We ordered the new beef rib kalguksu and the clam (bajirak) kalguksu. The beef rib broth was overwhelmingly salty for our taste, to the point that I mentioned it to our server. The hand-cut noodles themselves were still excellent, but I also noticed that the clam kalguksu contained significantly fewer clams than I remember from previous visits--roughly half the portion I used to receive years ago. The noodles remain well made, but it's difficult to justify the current price when the portions seem smaller and the broths are considerably saltier than before. What originally made this restaurant special to me was its fresh, clean-tasting broth, flavorful kimchi, and generous amount of clams. Unfortunately, my recent visit didn't live up to those memories. With so many excellent kalguksu restaurants in the area, I don't see myself returning. I understand that restaurants evolve and may adjust recipes to appeal to a broader customer base, especially since most of the diners during my visit appeared to be non-Korean. However, I genuinely miss the balanced flavors, generous portions, and value that made this restaurant stand out years ago.

This salad was beautiful and fresh! Everything you want in a salad and more. I love the sweet corn in this salad too. Every ingredient balance each other so well. We also got the scallop pancake. This was the dish I always wanted to try here but after eating it, it felt a bit heavy compare to the other dishes. It was okay but the other dishes shined more. Lastly, we got the pork jowl, my favorite of the night. It came with a side of garlic rice! You dip the pork with the chili crisp and eat it with a scoop of rice, delicious!! If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
