Tiny place, and you may have to wait for a seat, but the food was fantastic. We went there for lunch in a Saturday, and lots of folks were eating breakfast. I had the Dream Hill sandwich and it was fantastic. We also had the chili fries, which were good, but not great. My wife loved her sandwich too, and she liked the chili fires more than I did. Serrano's has been on my radar since before I moved to West Sacramento but since they are mostly a breakfast and lunch spot, I haven't found the time to visit until this past weekend. Luckily, I had my first free weekend in about a month last weekend, so I decided to treat myself to some brunch. I looked at the menu online before visiting and was pleasantly surprised by a fairly inexpensive menu with your typical breakfast fare. I'm a big fan of country/chicken fried steak and gravy or biscuits and gravy and was happy to see they had both, so I was pretty much set before arriving. I got their around 10:30 or so on Sunday and headed inside. They were doing a moderate business, with most tables occupied but some empty spots available and not too much of a mess. Upon entry, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to wait for a hostess or go up to the counter to order. It looks like they do a pretty split amount of "for here" and to go orders. One of the staff members noticed me, asked if I was dining in or out, and when I mentioned out, told me I could grab a spot anywhere. They had a few smaller tables outside, so I grabbed a two seater by the door, since I was dining alone and didn't need to take up a four top. It took a bit of time for someone to acknowledge me, but once they did, I was brought a menu and given enough time to look over it. I went with the country fried steak, as expected, but always good to see if there are any specials or if the menu is different than what's posted online. I believe what I saw online were older menus, but nothing too different other than a few price changes, which is understandable given the price of, well, everything these days. The staff member came back and she took my order. I grabbed a Diet Coke with my country fried steak and opted for home fries and scrambled eggs. The wait wasn't too long I got my entree pretty quickly, with some hearty portions! The country fried steak was thicker than others I've had. Smothered in tasty sausage gravy, still a bit of crunch as it came out fresh. Would get again! Home fries were also cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the added peppers. Eggs weren't exciting but that's about par for the course. The meal also came with my choice of bread so I got some wheat toast and added some complimentary jelly from the table to it. Some packaged butter would have been nice but the toasted bread was pre-buttered, so not too important. I waited a bit after my meal and it began to pour outside. I was luckily covered by an overhang but the rest of the patio was not as lucky. At that point, all other outdoor diners had left, so nobody got soaked. That said, the patio is definitely not storm friendly unless you are seated right by the door. The staff scrambled to clean up the tables on the patio and I really felt for them as they got drenched making sure everything was tidied up and the dishes were brought back inside. I wasn't sure if I receipt was going to be brought to me or if I was supposed to go up and pay, but I figured they had enough going on with the storm, so I headed to the counter to pay. The cashier also took my order and recognized me, so she was able to easily ring me up. Prices were affordable and check out was smooth. Service, while maybe a bit confusing (do I seat myself? Do they bring me the bill or do I go up to the counter?) was friendly and quick. I'll be back! read more

Packed spot on a Sunday morning and I can see why folks come here regularly.....huge portions for the price! Food is also pretty tasty (for the most part). Corn beef hash: corned beef was flavorful and there was a a hefty mound of hash browns. The fiesta salad: eh, can't really strongly recommend this as the lettuce had wilting orange ends and although the chicken was tender the marinade on the chicken was overly charred giving off a slight bitter taste. Calling in the order for pickup was easy and the lady on the phone was really friendly. Overall I'd say stick with the hot menu items; I assume those and the place's neighborhood diner/cafe vibes are what encourages people to keep coming back! read more

Great food. You can't go wrong with whatever your favorite breakfast/lunch is. I had not eaten here in about 2 years due to a bad customer service experience, mainly because I let "management" know and they just made excuses for the person. I only went again due to my brother loving this place and wanted to meet there with my mom for breakfast. I decided to give it another shot, and of course it wasn't about the food, so I knew I'd enjoy it, which I did. Service was good. Visited this place right before closing around 2:30pm and the customer service was great! This is a family restaurant and the family was very nice and welcome and attentive. The ambiance is small town diner that is very welcoming with both indoors and outdoor seating. As far as the food, the food is good with overall golf taste and flavor. Today, I went to eat at this restaurant, for the 5th time in 3 weeks, with my daughter this time. Each time I've frequented this place I've ordered something different. The menu presents many different options. I've eaten breakfast 4xs, and lunch once. Every time the meal was delicious. The wait staff is very friendly, courteous, attentive, and fast workers. The food, after ordering, came out piping hot and really fast! I ordered: corned beef hash (canned, but still good and crispy), poached eggs (3 and cooked perfectly), hash brown (x-tra crispy), and I added French toast, instead of toast for a $1.99. My daughter ordered: the breakfast special- 2 blueberry pancakes, 2 overeasy eggs, and 2 sausage links. Total was $21.62! We had a lovely brunch here lately. Food was great, service friendly and helpful, burger cooked just right, prices reasonable for the amount of food! My only UGG is the "onion rings"... they are not actual onion rings but processed onion bits and battered somethings. They were crunchy but not onion rings. If you've never been to Serrano's Cafe, cancel your weekend plans, your dentist appointment, your cousin's baby shower, heck, cancel your own birthday plans if you have to, and get yourself over there immediately. First of all, the food? Absolute heaven. I took one bite of my Burger and almost proposed to the chef right there. The service was so fast, I think the staff might be low-key telepathic. The way they communicated and worked together was wonderful. I wish I would've asked for their names. Right when we thought about asking for more coffee, someone was at my table with a fresh steamy pot. Are they reading minds? Are they angels? Probably both but regardless i was a happy camper. Now the staff, oh my goodness. These people are too nice. Like, suspiciously nice. Either this place only hires Disney princesses or they've cracked the code on human kindness. They made me feel so welcome I started wondering if I'd accidentally walked into a family reunion I didn't know I was invited to. The way they greated everyone with a smile and with kindness. I felt like I was at my Tias house about to have a carne asada while listening to Vicente Hernandez. The place is GORGEOUS. The place had so much character with every painting on the wall telling a story. We did sit inside but walking in you can walk through the outside seating with was decorated so nice with pretty plants and no bugs. Every corner had personality. And don't get me started on the portion sizes. These plates came out looking like they were trying to feed a small village. I ordered a Chipotle Burger and received what I can only describe as a delicious, edible sleeping bag. AND IT WAS ONLY $12. The person I was with got a Mis'n Scramble and it was absolutely delicious taking up the whole plate. Sometimes I spend more on a meal at taco bell but in total this meal came out to be only $32 for 2 meals and a coffee. I'm not saying Serrano's is defying the laws of economics, but no yeah I actually am saying that. 10/10. Five stars. Two enthusiastic thumbs up and a smile on my face as well as a very full stomach. I went here for lunch and the service and the food was outstanding! The pandemic had us eating in well-spaced out tables, and there was gazebo/canopy set outside the store for the customers' use. As soon as we arrived, the staff handed us the menu and asked us for our drink orders. Not long after, she came back with the drinks and took our meal order. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and it was really good! It was loaded with meat just like a real Philly Cheesesteak is supposed to be! The place was clean, and even the tables set outside were kept clean. I would normally only eat indoors, but the outdoor settings were looking clean that I allowed myself to eat outdoors. I was really impressed by their breakfast the first three times I visited BUT the last time I went, I WAS NOT HAPPY! I ordered the MISS N BROWNS Omelette. I expected an actual omelette but the joke was on me because when I received the order, it looked NOTHING like that. It wasn't even a Fritatta, it was, in actuality, a scramble. I am a foodie and a GREAT cook to boot. Even though alot of restaurants call what is actually a fritatta an omelette, I give them a pass because of the time and expertise it takes to make an actual omelette but damn! At least make it resemble something approaching an omelette but if I wanted a scramble OR a skillet breakfast, I would have ordered one. How much do they charge for average black coffee? Is the tax rate 25%? The service was good. The food was mid. Patio accommodated our dog. Lots of free parking. Still, too expensive. This is hands down one of our forever favorite spots for breakfast by our house. The service is always excellent, and the place is clean. When it's not hot outside, we dine in their outdoor area, a cute little spot we love. Serrano's Mamba Omelette is my favorite and I ordered an extra sour cream. Their fresh fruit is seriously the best I've ever had at any restaurant.
