Do not get the gyro! I made this mistake twice and had to make sure I wrote a review to remind myself and others. That's the only thing I have gotten here but it was terrible enough that I would never go to this place again. What's wrong with it? The biggest problem is the meat. It's not gyro meat. It tastes horrible. I couldn't finish my wrap both times. All the things that go with it are the bad version too. It's a gyro with lettuce and in a lavash. I hate Gyros with lettuce (not greek) and lavash gyros are always worse than pita gyros. And this is packaged, not fresh lavash like you get in the Middle East. read more

Yum yum yum yum yum yum! Came here twice in one week. Once drunkenly after happy hour and once after an afternoon meeting where I soberly confirmed that this place is super yummy! I got the same thing both times. I'm on a gluten free diet since the new year and pescetarian so my options are limited. I always get the falafel plate minus the bread. The hummus is by far my favorite! I usually love babaganoush (I will have to google and respell this later) but the one here is very bland. I wonder if they can give just two servings of the hummus instead. I usually am not a fan of falafel but theirs is not bad, especially smothered in the hummus. The side salad is bomb too! They serve everything in a plastic takeout box regardless if you're dining in or out. You have to ask them for water and there are desserts in the display case. So I am not much of a cookie guy but when I was working a little later tonight I needed a pick me up. My two associates and I decided to go together and one of them suggested this place. She said that she knew the owner from stopping in so frequently and that he was a great guy and loved giving samples. Heres the catch though, once I got there I saw that he also had a small menu which included gyros. I decided to try and it was absolutely amazing. One of the best I have ever had. And because I bought the gyro, he gave me a free cookie. It was a win win situation. My suggestion is that if you work in the financial district or just love a good gyro, you must get here. Probably my favorite Middle Eastern joint in the city and I have very high standards! Their falafel is superb. Too often am I served bland dried out crunchy falafel with wilted lettuce leaves and no hot sauce! Their falafel wraps are well priced and stuffed with moist yummy falafel and all kinds of delicious veggies. I'm also a fan of their lamb gyro! Delicious and seasoned just as well as the falafel wrap. Bonus points that the guys working there remember that I like my wraps without tomatoes! Never had their cookies but I guess I should probably try one next time I come in! Also sidenote: To the yelpers remarking on the dry bland chicken wraps...as a Middle Eastern cuisine enthusiast I generally find that 99% of the Middle Eastern places I order chicken wraps from are gonna be bland and dry. I could probably eat here everyday!! When I visited New York, everyone told me i HAD to try the falafels. I did. It didn't live up to the hype so from that experience, falafel wraps were never my first choice when deciding on what to eat. Luckily my bf brought me here and I got the falafel wrap. It was amazing! As I was walking down Kearny St. around noon, I noticed lines out the doors of most lunch establishments. I am not known for my patience and feeling hungry does not help this. I got the side of falafels (comes with five, and dip) and Gyro plate (meat, tahini sauce, hummus, side of salad) all for $16.95 only. The meat was so, so tender and bursting with flavor. The salad was so fresh and I wished there was more of it.. The falafels were marvelous as well, with more taste and great smell. The meal was very fulfilling without slowing me down! I HIGHLY recommend this place. My family and I came in late from the airport into our hotel and it was one of the only places open. Small place with not a lot of seating, which was fine because we were going to eat in our rooms anyways. For the amount of food the 5 of us ordered, it came out fairly quickly eapecially since there were others that had ordered before us. This place is in the same proximity of many other Greek/Mediterranean restaurant around. From my experience, the other places are stealing this place's businesses because it is not anywhere as busy as other places. I ordered the gyro platter. The meat was really great. It also came with quite a bit of pita bread. I though that the lentil soup tasted better than the Balaldie's lentil soup. However, the price here comes out to be $15 when if I ordered the same thing at Baladies, I would get not only bigger portions, but only ended up paying $10 or $11 dollars. However, the interior and setting of this place is better when compared to Baladies. Lastly, I have to mention they have lots of cookies and sweets that smell so nice. I wanted to like this place more. I came in around 9PM, so not like a late night drunken "FEEDME!" moment. The service was great. Very prompt and attentive. But the food wasn't what it should have been. I got the gyro plate. The portion was large, no question. A lot of meat, a lot of hummus, and more tzatziki than one person could eat. But unfortunately, it was a situation where more ended up being less. The meat: When you have a rotisserie gyro stand going, I sort of expect my gyro to come from that. Not pulled out of a rice cooker/crock pot in the back. And certainly not just chunks (not slices) of meat. To me, what makes a gyro (or shwarma, or döner kebab) REAL is that mix of crisp and tender... cutting the meat off as it is ready. What I got was salty beef cubes, warmed in a heater. No texture. And, I'm assuming homemade, because it lacked seasoning other than the salty flavor. The sides: the hummus had a nice flavor, but was watery. And the tzatziki tasted like what I could buy at a Cash & Carry. If it was homemade, it needs a major garlic and dill injection. I really wanted to like this more. The owner seems honestly caring and responsive to feedback here, so I'm hoping this comes across as constructive feedback rather than bitching. Yes this place has the best cookies and brownies ever! Reza let me try a sample one day and loved it but wasnt in the mood to actually commit to a whole one and to my surprise he said, "here you go, just because you liked it so much" and gave it to me for FREE....I love him. They are truly a diamond in the rough. Wow wow I'm in nostalgic bliss before even eating my beautifully and truly made from the soul Jerusalem wrap. Wanted a snack before going home to the east bay. I am a rare find in the Bay Area now, born and raised in the Bay Area, my mom would take home these amazing cookies from fashion island where I also used to go to Malibu on the weekends. Well growing up they closed down years later and my whole family was sad because these cookies were heaven. While I'm waiting for my food, I read the article on the wall.. Not only do I get treated with excellent customer service, amazing food that you can taste and feel is made with love, the cookies I grew up eating!! I really like this place. Greek is one of my favorite cuisines and cookies are my favorite consumable period. This place offers both! Don't take this as a bad sign in this case! It just means you can take your time deciding what you want, and you'll get it immediately. I had the gyro wrap, the falafel and the dolmas as far as savory things go. The guy is nice and let me customize how many falafel and dolmas and wanted, and combined them under the price of a single order. All of the above were completely satisfying. OK and the real reason I love this place. The coookiiesss are sooo yummy!! Totally unexpected from a random hole-in-the-wall in FiDi that serves gyros...I had the milk chocolate, snickerdoodle, and German chocolate bar. Oh man. I usually go for dark chocolate, but the milk chocolate was amazing. Not too greasy feeling, the right amount of chocolate, meaning a lot, and the perfect texture - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Same goes for the texture of the snickerdoodle. So much happy. The chocolate bar was also amazing, but I also have an enormous sweet tooth and can handle such things. It's basically like two brownies sandwiching gooey caramel. The Combo Wrap - on lavash Chicken, Gyro meat (lamb and beef), tomatoes, onions, FREAKING SPRING MIX LETTUCE, cucumbers, and tzatziki sauce This one was definitely my favorite. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. Be sure to ask for it spicy! The Jerusalem Wrap - also on lavash Falafel, hummus, eggplant spread, feta, tahini, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, spring mix lettuce This one was also delicious, but the falafel was quite different than what I'm used to- it had a somewhat displeasing herbal smell and didn't taste very much like chickpeas. I was looking for this place as their Middle Eastern dessert cookie selections were insanely good. I have no idea what they are called but involve a lot of pistachios and honey wrapped in a thin crispy cookie shell. Baclava maybe? My first visit here the owner guaranteed that he will give me my money back if I didn't like the cookie. Of course I took him up on his dare and sure enough he was not f'ing around. I found this place on Yelp a few days ago, but was too lazy and cold to find it. Today is definitely just as freezing, but I was craving Chicken Shawarma. I walked in and the man greeted me right away. I wasn't sure if they even served Chicken Shawarma, but I had to check. I asked the man and he told me that they did have it and it was all white meat; healthy. I saw that they had rows of cookies and read the reviews, so I HAD to buy one. I talked to the man while the other man in the kitchen was making my food. I told him about how I read the reviews and had to come try the food. He then offered me a complimentary chocolate chip brownie; his favorite. I walked back to my office and stole a few bites from my shawarma. Veggies were very fresh. Chicken was nice, warm, and flavorful. I got to my desk and chowed down. The pita wasn't soggy and had a great texture that meshed very well with the chicken, lettuce, tomato, and onions. Hummus or maybe tahini was drizzled inside to keep each bite perfectly moist. I enjoyed every bite having to type "YUM" "Drool" "Delish" etc. to my friends I was chatting with. I then took a piece of the chocolate chip walnut cookie that I HAD to buy. It was perfect just like the reviews said. I just ate that much because I am near full and I had to try the brownie to write this review. My initial thoughts about the brownie were "moist, perfect consistency, not chocolaty enough" seeing that I had a ways to go, I take back my comment about it not being chocolaty enough. I always get the Jerusalem (I think that's the name). It's super loaded with hummus, eggplant, and feta. I try not to eat cheese and forgot to order without last time, but it was so tasty I couldn't stop and scarfed the whole thing. The baklava was really tasty and fresh considering I ordered it so late. So flakey and perfectly crunchy. Yum! The guy that is always there when I come in, whom I suspect is the owner is very pleasant and comes across friendly. The place has a good air about it. It's lacking enough ambiance to make me want to dine in, but is perfect for takeaway. I'm giving the place five stars because of the service, price, freshness, and taste... although realistically 4.5 stars. Only thing lacking is decor but for my purposes it's just fine.
