4.5 stars, if that matters :P Visited on a Thursday night with my sister, her soon to be hubby & my roomie. There was no wait - but our waiter, Bryan (who was on point the entire night), said weekends are crazy and that even on Wednesday there was a 30 min wait. So, if you're going to try this place, head there a tad bit earlier or call ahead. We were seated right away - we requested to be near the TVs so we could see the game, and we were accommodated. Bryan gave us the run-down, and bless his heart, had a whole script regarding Shabu-shabu and the AYCE process. We got right to it - each one of us ordered a different broth. My sister got the miso which was exactly as expected. Great with the seafood! Her hubby got the spicy miso - rich in flavor, definitely caused him to sweat - he ended up pouring regular miso in it a bit later just to take it easier. Roomie got the Tonkatsu - a nice broth, but thinner than ramen tonkatsu. I ended up with the "House" broth, which was just a nice soy sauce tasting broth, nothing too special. They have a great selection of greens like bok choy, chrysanthemum leaves, cabbage, napa cabbage, bean sprouts, broccoli, and enoki mushrooms. Wish they had different kinds of mushrooms like king oyster or seafood mushrooms, but alas - just wood ear & enoki. There's some clams, mussels, fish fillets and shrimp. I'm a bit wary of seafood at AYCE places that is sitting out but my sister was into it and remarked it was all very fresh and tasty. We ordered tons and tons of different meats and all were good - especially the pork belly & the blade. We might've done 12 orders of the blade. They all come in thin slices, mostly just two per metal plate. I think they should up the amount a bit so the waiters and kitchen don't have to work so hard. Ordered a carafe of the yogurt soju - while I didn't try it, it smelled nice and vanilla-y and my roomie & sis's fiancee killed the entire thing and were properly buzzed afterwards. They scream something about Welcome to Shabuya every time someone walks in, so be prepared for that. Service was great! Subtracted a bit because I saw people drinking drinks out of...plastic bags? So far this is my favorite AYCE hot pot/shabu shabu in the area, but I will admit I have not tried a lot of places (yet). The quality of the meats (max 4 orders at a time), produce (buffet), and seafood (including swai fillets, head-on shrimp, and various fish balls, also part of the buffet) are all decent quality. Just this past weekend I spent a solid 2 hours (maybe a little under, but we were never rushed) catching up with a friend and eating and left pleasantly full but not stuffed. I will have to agree that it can be a little dirty; I had to ask for a new bowl and soup spoon myself before we ordered. All in all, I've always had a good meal here so I'm happy to be a returning customer whenever a hotpot/shabu craving hits! read more

ayce for 90min & the max meat plates you can order at once has been upped from 4 plates to 6 plates that being said, the meat portions on the first few plates are definitely the best, & it noticeably deteriorates the more rounds you get (slices get much smaller & thinner - a few plates came as just slices of fat & no meat) the waiters coming around to take your order for your next round are still a bit laggy + I don't think they come unless all your meat plates are completely empty (I'm sure they have many tables to service/order on their screen for, though the people bringing out the meat plates aren't the server?) - so make sure youre ready to wait a 5-10min between getting to eat each round (or cook most of the meat in one go so you can order more rounds lol) definitely have gotten our soju cocktails forgotten about on more than one occasion, so we had to remind em we were still waiting on it veggies/noodle/seafood/condiments buffet bar in the middle usually seems pretty well stocked every time, even tho I've never seen someone refilling it; but have also seen customers sneezing in front of it so... maybe that's why? have tried all the appetizers that come w the ayce - all have always felt dry and/or salty - will just skip it next time read more

Enormous variety of food with choices of meat, vegetables and seafood. They also serve many types of sauces; of which, "goma" is our favorite. Service is just superb. Shabuya was one of my favorite AYCE (all you can eat) restaurants pre pandemic until today. The food is still as good as it was pre pandemic. They had to remove a few items but that's ok. The low stars is in regards to how slow of how much meat you can get. Came for a Sunday lunch for 6 people. Our server told us since we were 1 table, we could only get 4 meats at a time. We had to scan a QR code on the table to submit our orders. Our 1st order came out within the first 10 minutes. The 2nd order came out another 10 minutes. Then we put in a 3rd order. About 20 minutes passed. We didn't know whether they received our 3rd order so placed a 4th order. Another 10 minutes passed and we finally got our 3rd and 4th order. At this point I asked our server if the meat was coming out really slow. He said they were backed up and he would try to get it fast as he could to us. We placed a 5th order. About 20 minutes passed, we don't know if they ever got our order so we placed a 6th order. After 10 minutes we received our 6th order but never got our 5th. Between all this, we had to keep refilling our broths because it was boiling off faster then we could eat it. At this point, we've already been there 1hr30min (which is the table time limit by the way), they didn't kick us out, but we gave up and others were full from the vegetables. In total we only received 5 meat orders, 20 trays, which would be about 4 trays per person. My friends and I normally eat 12-20 trays per person pre pandemic. When you can eat a tray of meat in about 5 min, then have to wait 10-20min in between, it feels like forever. The service was great. I can't really blame the people who work there. The vegetables, sides, and broth refills were prompt. They've already been open for 2 months so if this was a persistent issue they could've worked it out. Other Yelp reviews mention the same problem regarding how slow and how much meat they get. It's always possible I came on a bad day. Currently there's only dinner pricing at $28/person. So if you're happy with AYCE vegetables, sides, and 4 trays of meat for $28 you'll be satisfied. If you prefer to eat a lot more meat, then there'll be a lot of waiting, maybe even longer than the 1hr30min they "limit" you. For $28, I prefer not to gamble that I might only get 4 trays of meat. I won't be returning until maybe they offer lunch pricing again or I hear that the situation has gotten better. read more

This has to be our number one AYCE hotspot to go to in the Bay Area. The meat here is great and it comes out fast. They usually start you off with a better cuts your first couple rounds and as you keep ordering more, the quality gets a tad bit less or more fatty. I feel that the sauce bar could use a little more variety, but it has the key stuff that we're looking for, they get pretty busy during peak hours and weekends so I recommend joining the waitlist ahead of time. The parking lot can get pretty busy with multiple businesses in the area but I usually don't have any issues. Overall, this restaurant is very clean. We've got there for party of 6 dinner time yesterday on weekday (not weekend). The lady infront checkin station represent as "manager incharge" was rude and suck in customer service. Not sure why she can be held a manager role. Food was good. Customer service suck and no sign anywhere for time limited 1.5hr. There were 2 to 3 people came up to our table and told us to leave ans started setup table while we were still eating. . This is my go-to spot when I go to NorCal. It's not like in SoCal where there is an abundance of AYCE Shabu spots. I have to drive from Hayward to SJ for some decent hotpot haha. Came here for a date night on Friday with my partner join the waitlist with no reservations but we were seated within 20 minutes. parking also wasn't too bad considering its in a plaza. This was our first time here and our servers were kind to explain the process. I got the spicy miso and my partner got the original broth. Food was delicious especially their meat selection! Got the house special base. Don't get the house special lmao. The soup didn't have very much flavor, and my beef ended up tasting like wet laundry. My friends got spicy miso and sukiyaki which were also light in flavor but better. Good thing the sauces had really strong flavor. The only side option is karaage, and though we tried all four types, they were all way too salty and the sweet ones were both way too salty and way too sweet. The meat platters came out 4 paper thin sheets per plate, so we kept having to order more which was a little annoying. Wish there were more veggie options- the ones there were were cut really tiny and was annoying to fish out of the bowls. I went there recently with a large group. Be sure to get on the wait list through Yelp before going, so you won't wait as long there for a table. Ah. Shabuya. Probably my family's go to spot for any celebration (or just simply if we haven't had it in a while). You really truly can't beat their deal. ESPECIALLY if you can catch them for lunch in a weekday. But even at $28.99 for AYCE?!? are you kidding me??? This is probably the best AYCE deal in the area. And the premium cuts are great. My favorites are the prime cross rib and the prime flat iron steak. They also have a pretty good selection for their soup bases. My favorite is their spicy miso, but I've had all of them and they're all very good. They'll also refill your broth if it gets too low. A server comes by to check on you and to put in orders for meat and appetizer dishes (gyoza and a few varieties of karaage). But my favorite is their bar of various greens, veggies, seafood, and carbs. I love that they have chrysanthemum!!! Truly the only downside is the wait if you come during prime time. My first time here for a birthday of 20 people including kids. 1st off the kids get measured by height. If kids are under 40 inches, they eat free, kids between 40-50 inches are $10.99, and kids over 50 inches will be charged adult price which is 29.99 which is not bad for a all you can eat place. They have 5 options of soup base followed by 5 different kinds of all you can eat meat. They have a buffet bar filled with fish, squid/octopus, shrimp (with head), seafood and lobster balls and a few other protein options. They have noodles, ramen, udon and other carb options and a few veggies options as well. The service was good and the staff were attentive. Wait time was only 5 min. As for weekend, that is a different beat. Expect to arrived early or make reservation if you have a group of people. 3) Price : average per person is $30 to $40. Even thou this is an all you can eat with a set price, it have some selection that is not inclusive into all you can eat. 4) Food: Lots of selection, tricky on the food ( meat only). 1) you can order 4 orders at a time and only when you finish what is on the table 2) the meat was a thin cut... I mean thin like see through thin...and as for rest of the food, it's a self serve. 5) Quality: as I mention the meat are thin but as for quality, it's a good quality meat. Appetizers - Pass. Don't be fooled by these simple fillers. Meats - Between two people, you'll have plenty of rounds so order every single meat item. Unfortunately, the service doesn't tell you which ones you ordered when they bring them all out. The slices are thin, precious, and tasty. Vegetables - The counter in the middle of the restaurant holds all the seafood, vegetables, fishballs, and noodles. A great option if you are looking for AYCE shabu! We particularly like to come for lunch, as it is currently priced at only $20 for lunch. Meats seem to be fresh, and will usually come out fast (even if it is busy). We favor the beef toro. They also have a good chicken karaage that can be served 3 different ways (plain, soy glazed, spicy). Keep in the mind that the wait can be long at times. My boyfriend and I arrived at 9:30 pm because we saw the restaurant closed at 11 pm. The concept of this restaurant is 1.5 hours of sitting and eating all you can. After 40 min, the waitress told us it's the last call of the food and 10 minutes after they closed everything. Nobody told us about it when we arrived, and in Google, we saw that they were closing at 11pm. Our waitress told us that we can bring more food to the table and sit till 11 pm (till the restaurant closes ( But around 10:40 they told us to leave the restaurant and every 30 seconds every other employee told us to go but the worst things was when Cristina one of the employees there act so rude, her attitude was offensive and she literally kicked us from the restaurant at 10:45pm. My family and I walked in for dinner here July 21st, 2023. We placed our order and as we went to serve the sides in the buffet area there were flies all over the food. I let a worker know and he said he would let the manager know. I then went to the manager as no one came back to me. I told the manager that there were flies all over the food and I was not going to eat. He then said, well we charge for head so you can't stay here. He then said your welcomed to leave and eat somewhere else. Obviously we left. I recommend you think twice before eating here. Yes, there is a line, but it's so worth it! We got to the line about an hour prior till closing and there was roughly 10 or so customers in front of us. We were worried we wouldn't make the cut, but the line moved at a very steady pace and we made it to order in what felt like 10 minutes. The host sat us and took our order. We found out he was the manager, not the host. I felt special. We took a Soju shot together. This is when I knew, this place was meant for me. The Tonkotsu soup was so good, I can't really put it into words. Every meat was thinly sliced. That is so cool. It felt like we ate so much meat, but it was barely nothing compared to Korean BBQ. The Pork Belly was amazing. The salad bar offered so many seafood. I truly believe in helping our local business thrive by giving my honest opinion on the experience. My opinions are based on an average guideline according to taste, smell, presentation, and quality. will probably will not come again. We were looking for a nice hotpot/ shabu shabu place and decided to give it a try. Was a quite Saturday afternoon and the place only had a few people. We waited for someone to come seat us. When a waitress walked over we told her we would like a table for two. Seemed reasonable. She pointed to a sign saying "no waiting inside" and told us to sign up on the "waiting list". Went on Monday night and got to the restaurant around 7pm. Half of the restaurant was seated cause the other half was closed and were already cleaning up. My issue is with the service! We were rushed out of there at 90 mins. We stopped ordering at around the 60-75 min mark and just looking to finish what we had. There was no line or anybody waiting, but at the 90 min mark we were pressured to pay by 4 different people and was asked to vacate the table even though some of our group was in the bathroom. While the baby was being fed, 1 worker came and gave us a notice to leave in 5 mins, obviously saw my baby was being fed (we had already paid at this time). We then asked another worker (standing at the register) what the dine-in limit was, and they told us 1.5 hrs, and again, asking us to leave in 5 minutes. Nothing we could say, what kind of management was that! Couldn't they see an infant was in the middle of feeding time? We are consuming any more of your food! We left and told the manager that "your service sucks"! - her response was "ok! Thanks!" saying it in a who-give-the-f*** manner. Again, no complaints for our server, and "hello!
