Absolutely shocking and abhorrent behavior from the manager Jasmine who is front of house and customer facing and should be nowhere near either of those. She did not solve a very simple problem a manager should be able to attack and rectify immediately. Instead she caused a mini scene was incredibly arrogant and dismissive and did not care at all about supporting a customer or anyone else in line that she was holding up to be smug rude and arrogant in a completely unnecessary and deplorable fashion. I came here on a Sunday afternoon to pick up lunch. There were quite a few people there, but I was impressed that they went through the line quickly. I also only had to wait 5 - 10 mins before my burger was ready. I got the Shackburger. I had heard that Shake Shack burgers are small, so I was relieved to see they were the average size. Still an in-n-out lover but because the shake shack moved into my local mall, I must go and make my visit. I personally think that it's a bit on the salty side. I usually get their shake shake burger and cheese fries; they're both mighty tasty and what I like about the burgers are that they use a different type of bread. Super soft and comforting at each bite. I can't really compare this to in-n-out as it's so different in taste and style, but I do think that in-n-out tastes healthier. Not worth it. The line wasn't very long, l so thought I would have my first Shake Shack burger. I ordered a shack burger and a soda(easy ice), 20 minutes later (after asking about it), I received a greasy TASTELESS burger and a soda FULL of ice. The counter staff leave a lot to be desired but the table attendants are very pleasant and keep asking if they can get you anything. Service 3 stars. Food 2 stars UPDATE: I was contacted by a representative with apologies for my tasteless food. This kind of attention to service makes me want to give them another chance. I am going to believe the kitchen was having a bad day the day I was there and so next time I am in the hood I will try them again. read more

Soft, cottony bun, a slight excess of cheese, and a tasty beef patty. It's pretty good but it lacks the fresh, crispness of the best of their competition here, and the cheese is a bit overwhelming. Honestly my memories of the ones in Manhattan are better, and hence a follow-up visit, particularly for the mushroom burger, need to be done for a proper evaluation. Burgers were pretty small for the price and too salty. Fries were over salted as well. Basic crinkle fries...we might have been given the bottom of the barrel fries though. However, the milk shakes were delicious! We dined at lunch time so it was super busy and seating was limited. We lucked out and got a great table. This is not a review of any one employee at this location - they were all kind and respectful. This is an indictment of the management at this location. I ordered a single small custard through the website. I got a notification that it was ready for pickup at 2:52PM. I was not given the item until 3:24PM and that was only after speaking to several employees. This is unacceptable. There was a large crowd of people waiting for food, revealing that this location has not integrated online and in-person orders. The management failed today and needs to be retrained. This kind of mismanagement and incompetence is not only a waste of time, but increases risk of exposure for all parties. I will never spend my money (or time) here again. . read more

A solid 3 1/2 stars. We have been hearing about this East Coast institution for years. Come to walk by it on the one day Eataly was closed, so we decided to eat there. Outlet take is that this is a basically a slightly classier in and out. The fries are better, which is great, and the chili cheese fries are kind of epic. Cheese sauce instead of grated cheese put it over-the-top, and I will forgive them for the crinkle fried instead of straight because the chili was yummy and well-made and not some nasty boxed or canned crap. So finally, I finally tried Shake Shack. The big contender (supposedly) that is comparable to In n Out. I read in some article saying this. Really, guys? Let me first say that the hamburger is pretty good. It is about restaurant level. It tastes a bit like a Fatburger in terms of flavor. A good patty, but not much flavor. Nicely-grilled. It reminds me a bit of my childhood in elementary school. Not as good or as a juicy as a finely grilled Costco burger, however. I had the Shackburger (a cheeseburger) and Hot Chick'n burger and some fries. I really enjoyed the Hot Chick'n and I think it is better than the Shackburger. Nicely crispy and spicy. It's one of the really good spicy chicken sandwiches I've had. The fries are pretty tasty, yet reminds me a bit of Del Taco's fries. Overall, it's pretty clear to me that In N Out pretty much blows it out of the water. It is like comparing "Transformers" to "The Godfather." In N Out tastes fresher, it is meatier, and much more flavorful. Simply put, I have had dreams about In N Out, and I have yet to ever tire of it--it still boggles my mind. Secondly, let's look at the price: A single Shakeburger is $5.50. At In N Out, it is $5.65 for a cheeseburger combo WITH fries AND drinks. *commence head-shaking* This Shake Shack is located in the big mall of Westfield in Century City. The mall's nice. I totally fell for the "hype!" I was always interested in trying Shake Shack ever since they opened up in WeHo, but after seeing how long the lines were, I was more than willing to wait. Luckily, the Century City location finally opened, and this time, I was determined to figure out why people waited so long in line for. Not sure if it could've tasted differently if I was to eat it there rather than taking it "to-go," but I was let down by the hype! ( I used the Shake Shack app and got $5.55 off using code: SHACKAPPY) The fries were nothing spectacular. They tasted like regular salted fries from a baseball stadium (mediocre). The burger was just "ok." The bun for my burger was beyond soggy, there wasn't enough lettuce, and the taste was just bland. It needed seasoning in the patty. It was my first time at Shake Shack, and I was not let down by the hype. Nice soft bun, nicely cooked quality patty, crispy fries and a cold coke....MMMMM! MMMMMM! MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! I was in heaven! A single patty burger was fine for me but thought about how I should've gone with a double or instead gotten two burgers at the time(I was contemplating about standing in line again to order), but 15 minutes later I was feeling full so it just took a while for my stomach to communicate with my brain to tell myself that I had been fed. #Fatlife For a good burger that's somewhat at a great price(remember you're paying for quality) go here. LET ME TELL YOU! The burgers and fries are always consistent at this location. Their tables are ALWAYS clean, very little to no trash around the place, and the staff at the kiosks when you order, at the station where you pick up, and the folks around the dining room area are ON POINT. Meka has been there for the two times I've been to Shake Shack, and both times she's been sweet, helpful, and extremely friendly. She is working, and totally has no obligation to talk to me, but when I asked her questions and got to talking with her, she felt like a friend by the end of my visit. The First time I ordered the Shack Burger with Cheese Fries, and it was SO good. The cheese was perfectly melted and the fries incredibly crispy. My only regret was not trying a concrete. Rest assured, this second time i did. I picked Beverly Chills and it was awesome. Second visit's burger was the Shroom burger. I was SO excited to get it! Long story short, we were not charged for it, so when I went to pick up me and my boyfriend's burger I only saw one and wondered what had happened. Not to worry though, I went up to Tony, told him I think he forgot to charge me for the Shroom burger, but that i DEFINITELY still wanted it, and I was totally ready to pay, when he said don't worry, it was my bad. It definitely wasn't! But I do appreciate the hospitality and I'm so happy that this Shake Shack has such an incredible staff. Everyone works as a team, they're all here to help customers, and they genuinely seem happy. Shake shack is good in the way that every piece of food tastes like it's engineered to be as bad for you as possible. The burger has a soft, semi-sweet bun, with a greasy (in the best way) patty and just the right toppings. An explosion of sugar, salt, and fat. BUT after you eat the burger it still somehow evaporates and feels insubstantial. The fries are the highest form of cafeteria fries -- highly processed, likely fried in lard, they have a dense savory flavor. Finally, the shakes are thick, syrupy cream -- I did go home and throw it in the freezer just for a little more chill, the whole thing was a cup of melted ice cream at first. Perhaps it was the hype, or that there are so many places to get burgers in LA. But I'm not that excited to go back. For the price, you can get a heartier, bigger burger at 5 guys if you're really wanting to grease your arteries. Of course, my heart is still with In N Out, but it's just simply a different class of burger. read more

No this is not my final review of the place...This is my first time here....I heard a lot of great things about here but I beg to differ for my first visit. I ordered a double hamburger with EVERYTHING on it...assuming that would be the lettuce tomato onion pickles and....sauce...of some kind, right? Ketchup? Mayo? Mustard? Special sauce? You get it? I also ordered fries and a small coke. My burger had everything BUT the sauce and it was greased out to the Max my buns were soaked beyond clearing of the arteries.every bite of my unseasoned meat patties squirted out more grease with each bite. Shame. The fries were nothing more than a replica of del taco fries. Except they season them better at del. my soda was also flat. Gross. There is also a man pacing the dining area asking every table at least 3 times each if everything is ok. Seems like he is trying to eavesdrop on what people are talking about...whatever it may be it sure is uncomfortable! I appreciate the home cooked patties ordeal but...Wendy's takes the trophy here for bomb.com square shaped home patties. I might come back to this chain some day but not this location. That's not the problem. The problem is that I stood there for at least 3 minutes before someone finally bothered to tell me that they were already closed (bless you, child). During these 3 minutes, multiple employees came up to the registers and walked away without a single word. I know they saw me because one young woman even smiled at me. So how is it that none of them could bother to tell me that they were already closed??? It wasn't until the FOURTH employee who walked by the area before someone decided, "hey, maybe it would be a good idea to inform the customer in line that he won't be able to order..." REALLY?? I'm a HUGE fan of Shake Shack. I always stop in for burger and cheese fries when I'm in NYC, but the Century City location seriously falls short of the perfect experience. I work around the corner from the mall, and I've been to Shake Shack at least 5 times in the last three months. THEY'VE F**CKED UP MY ORDER EVERY SINGLE TIME. EVERY. There were a few times they left out my fries entirely, another time when they forgot the cheese for the fries, another time when they left out of my drink, and another when I ordered on the app and my order was ready ONE HOUR after it was promised to be ready. They need to better manage their operations. The workers who hand out the food always seem confused, handing out wrong orders or incomplete orders to customers. They need to hire managers who can better manage operations and properly train their staff. read more

I've been wanting to go to shake shack for ages so I had to come here when I was in LA. I don't eat beef and didn't want their fried chicken sandwich so I was stuck with the chicken hot dog. It's so exciting to have Shake Shack in California and I hear they are opening one more store in El Segundo which is much closer to where I live! I love their spicy chick'n sandwich because the chicken is so tender and meaty with perfect level of spicyness that makes you drool. Love their buns as well because it's so soft and buttery with some sweetness to it. Fries are cooked at right temperature. Customer service was good as well. The inside seating area is always full so always have a friend look for a seat while you order. However, there is plenty of outside seating as well so that is not a problem. read more

Burger was good, but peanut butter sauce was not what I imagined; super nutty and kind of just blends into the bacon burger, not a distinct taste. I imagined the peanut sauce to reflect more of a Thai peanut sauce for some reason, but as someone who is ordering Shake Shack for the first time, I recommend sticking to the classics rather than going straight to the secret menu just because Buzzfeed recommended it. The lemonade here is really yummy tho! And chili cheese fries! Shack sauce tastes like mayo with some seasoning. Service here was great, got through the long line fairly quickly. read more

This was my first experience here. The cashier seemed irritated that I questions about menu items. He also didn't know the sizes of beverages. He showed me the two sizes for the ice tea and when I received my drink, it was a completely different size than what he originally showed me. The food was good. The fries tasted old. I know this place has so much insane hype but I really have to wonder why. Arrived for early dinner and did not have to wait in line. Nice place with good seating and the staff were very friendly. Since this was my first time trying Shake Shack I ordered a standard cheeseburger, but upgraded to cheese and bacon fries and a chocolate malt (yeah I know but I skipped lunch). Burger was fine. Smallish patty on a potato(?) bun, standard fixings. Nicely proportioned and the beef tasted good but nothing special. Fries were not so good. Crinkle cut and with a hard-ish crust. Honestly if you told me these came from the freezer section at Ralph's I wouldn't be surprised. The white cheese topping was bland and kind of gooey, and the bacon pieces were hard and not very bacony. Malt was also disappointing. Chocolate flavor was bland and I could just barely taste the malted milk. Long story short: I would run past this place to get to an In-n-Out, and certainly wouldn't make this a destination if I didn't work nearby. Can't they bring The Counter back? read more
