It's a special buttery tasty fish that we have not found anywhere else in the states but here. Good service and some days you may have to WSU's do reservations are suggested. My husband and I dined here yesterday and, unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. From the moment we arrived, we were met with a passive-aggressive welcome, which set the tone for the rest of the evening. Our server, along with others we encountered while dining, seemed disengaged and uninterested. We always try to be kind and conversational, asking staff how their day is going and seeking local recommendations, but our friendliness was met with cold energy and no real effort to connect. When we left the restaurant, three hostesses were standing near the exit and not one offered a simple "thank you" or "have a good night." It made us feel unwelcome, and honestly, the food did not make up for the lack of hospitality. For the same quality of food, and a far better experience, you're better off going next door to Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant and Pub, where the staff is warm, welcoming, and happy to share recommendations or a bit of the restaurant's story. They also have an amazing view. The kindest person we encountered all evening was actually the valet, which speaks volumes about the level of service inside. We believe in supporting restaurants that make their guests feel valued, and unfortunately, this one did not. We wouldn't recommend it based on our visit. read more

Shore is a place we visit every year during our stay in Long Boat Key for a great meal and great views. We are usually able to do a walk in during lunch without a reservation and rarely a wait. The only parking option is valet and available street parking is really hard to find. It was a bit chilly this time around, so they turned the heaters on for us in order for us to enjoy being seated on the water. We have tried the drinks, salads, and mains before and all are very flavorful. This time around we got the Som Tom salad (very flavorful with great dressing), fish tacos (I liked the mango salsa it comes with), miso grouper (good but wasn't my favorite), and the side dish truffle Mac and cheese (good but not the best I've ever had). read more

Ask for Jessica !!! This young lady was on top of everything she was doing - she checked in regularly, never forgot an item, and did it with a smile despite how busy they were. Our fries were delicious but the Kale Cesar was a little under dressed (should have asked for more dressing). The salmon was good but on the smaller side. The blood orange margarita without agave was excellent!!! And the key lime pie was fabulous! The water views from the benches and tables on the patio deck are stupendous !! Really great place to grab a bite to eat! We have come a few times on weekends for a quick lunch while out on the boat. The boat valet boys are always extremely friendly and professional and work their butts off. The restaurant itself is always extremely clean, open and airy, and never too packed. The craft cocktails are different and inventive, and the blood orange margarita is a must! Food is always on point and the truffle fries are probably the best I've had. Shore was recommended to me by my daughter that had visited a few weeks prior to my trip to Florida. We were seated outside and our server was Jordan and he was just a good personable server, he was helpful and efficient. We ordered the guacamole and shrimp ceviche with chips and had the lobster, shrimp and crab salad and the shrimp and scalllop risotto entree's. All of the dishes were so good. Right on the water, gorgeous modern decor with every table having a view. There really isn't much more you could want! Long restaurant with tons of seating and such a spectacular view. We were sat almost immediately and our server was over with a water bottle and menu/drink suggestions. We had a long drive back so we only enjoyed one cocktail, but it was spectacular and the menu was definitely expertly crafted with unusual ingredients and flavors. Everything we ordered to eat was good. Like almost too good; we left SO FULL! Come here, take your time and bring friends so you can try everything. We enjoyed are meal, consisting of starters - Ahi Tuna and Avocado with wontons - the spicy aioli and ginger beet sauces were amazing accompaniments to the tuna and avocado. Wonton chips were thin and not greasy at all. High on our list of favorite ways this dish has been presented and prepared. - Lump crab cake - holy, crab! This was pure chunks of crab and no filler. Again, very good and well presented. Meals: - Red Snapper - "chicken-like" in texture with risotto and veg. - Ahi Tuna Mignon with shrimp risotto - this was prepared different enough from the appetizer that I wouldn't have even known I was eating tuna twice in one meal. The risotto was creamy with nice chunks of shrimp. Dessert: Crème brûlée cheesecake was also quite nice! NA Beverages seem to be serviced by the can/bottle unless it's water or iced tea. Our server was OK but the service provided didn't seem to align well with the ambience nor food presentation. Maybe she was having an off day, but the runners also didn't take used bottles/empty cups/plates as they were there. The whole restaurant is "outside". Some parts are under the roof, but it's still open and they have stadium type seating so everyone has a great, unobstructed view! The restaurant is on the bay side so you can't watch the sunset, but it's still absolutely beautiful and totally worth a visit!! From the host stand to the bar where we ordered drinks while we waited to be sat to our server, Finn, service was amazing all around! Everyone was so nice and didn't seem stressed or on edge even though they were busy at 8pm on a Saturday! The food (shore burger and fish tacos) was so good! My wife and I were staying on siesta key when a local recommended this restaurant. There's one closer in the downtown area but she said it was worth the drive to longboat key. The restaurant is beautiful. We were sat immediately in a great spot. The view is excellent. We even saw a rainbow on the water while we were there. And a full moon as the night came. There were boats on the water which locked very European. Everything we ate was excellent. Tuna tartar for appetizer. I got the ribs and she got the grouper. The flourless chocolate cake for dessert was literally one of the best desserts I've ever had! Our waitress was prompt and attentive. 5 star service and meal every time! Love they have something for everyone and everything is fresh and gourmet! I don't eat seafood , but still have many options. My favorite things are the Vanilla Bean Cream Brûlée with pistachio biscotti , parsnip purée, filet and the Thai Coconut soup, unfortunately the soup is a seasonal flavor and not always available, but I would love to see it on the menu year round! Have been here many times. You really can't beat the ambiance... Picturesque and beautiful... The water and sky never disappoint... The menu is creative and varied and the food is consistently prepared to a he ugh standard. They were out of the grouper last night (not the busiest night) so you need to ask about things you may want earlier in the evening. We had mussels, crab cake, snapper and fish sandwich, all were very good. Wait staff is inconsistent, sometimes great, sometimes just ok. A sign of the times I guess. Will def be back. read more

The shore restaurant in longboat key is neatly tucked away down a residential street that ends at the bay. The restaurant is valet only and seems to be quite popular as the driveway was super active when we arrived on a Thursday evening. I love that they have tiered dining so that there really is not a bad seat outside. You get a nice view of the docks and water from almost every seat. They also have heat lamps for extra chilly nights. Ultimately the vibe/ scene is what I feel people come for. It's very trendy. Light wood, dim lighting and black and white accents. We had the shrimp ceviche which is nothing to write home about. My dining companion said the miso grouper was good, he liked the sticky rice. The Branzino was tasty. read more

February 11, 2023: party of 4 for lunch A sectionalized review. Facility: The view is of course wonderful. The building and dining is spotless and tableware clean. Parking / forced valet: Not happy about getting jacked excessive $$ for valet parking because they have a parking problem (and this was a slow day and plenty of open parking spots so totally unnecessary) Service: We were seated swiftly and happily accommodated to a 'better' low table (not a booth) with better back support and even a better view. The plexi window shades were eventually put down but the wind and inbound rain had started to kick up and it was cool out on the deck so we stayed under roof. Service was exceptional and he never missed an opportunity to upsell or encourage a drink order or additional items. Always attentive. Water, drinks, orders taken quickly and food on table hot and acceptable. My single complaint brushed aside with professionalism, but not escalated. The Arugula with beets salads ordered by the wives was a big hit with fantastic beets and fresh greens and a selection of dressings that pleased all. The fish taco was also well received and lightly / appropriately cooked and something as simple as French fries were lightly cooked and crisp and actually enjoyable by our good friend (he own multiple restaurants up north and a massive wedding / banquet facility up North) Fresh ingredients and tortilla shells. I went the vegan route with a Forest Mushroom & Black Bean Burger with great expectation as being homemade and NOT the unhealthful and flavorless "Impossible" (to eat) burger. With a side of roasted Brussel sprouts. They were a little underdone and.could.have been crisper at least a little. The roll and avocado and condiments were very nice and flavorful. The smokey chipotle veganaise was a very sugary BBQ dark red smear and I would either get that on the side or do without and there was way too much of it dripping off the sandwich and causing the burger to slide out like grease because it was oily. The burger/sandwich with the 1.5 inch tall burger and think bun was 4.5 to 5 inches high? even with my big mouth I could NOT bite this thing and it was a mess. That might be fine at Bubba Burger or Five Guys as you sink into some big hunk of beef, but this burger was almost a food processed paste of gooey sinewy fiber shred? There was no visible bean content or even the mushroom. Think of a heavily breaded crab cake that was sticky and tuna-fish like. My wife tried to 'fork cut' a piece to try it as she make an AWESOME bean burger for me, and she dragged and mangled the whole burger trying to separate the burger piece from the patty? Had to use a knife to 'saw' the hunk off. The patty was flavorless and had little mouth appeal. So while these entrees where not inexpensive for Longboat Key in tourist season they were 'normal' albeit a little high. What was alarming and disappointing was the beverages where massively overpriced. I ordered a non-alcoholic "temperance" (mocktail) beverage. My expectation is these are usually reasonably priced (they are non-liquor license required and liability insurance offsetting) beverages to appease the ever growing non-drinking GenZ, Millennials and us AA recovering Boomers so we don't feel left out. (smile) I got a NA bourbon ginger beer in a small copper mug for $15?? A bit pricey but sadly there was a huge solid chunk of ice taking up 50% of the cup. I reordered this drink later and it came in a glass (maybe 8 oz) that was 3/4 full including the ice. so maybe 6 oz?? When I poured this into the empty copper mug it was HALF full? So the second drink even more diminutive than the first. I pointed this out to our server and he said that there was a bit of ice in the drinks so the first one looked like MORE.....however that actually makes it worse because they were half glass drinks that were almost 50% ice??? The 6 martinis that the other three guests drank were also 3/4 or less std martini glass full. Not used to full on high profit and low yield beverage for non alcoholic drinks and these alcohol drinks we VERY expensive per actual ounce. over 60% of our over $330 (~ $80 + per person ) with tip for 4 people lunch (2 drinks per person but these were actually a little better than 1/2 drinks) was beverages. Rant off. VERY expensive drinks/beverages (especially NON alcoholic!! ) Great for tourists I guess, but we won't be frequenting here again. Our friends had been here multiple times and also were noticing the pricing/value has deteriorated as well. read more

Everything about Shore is magnificent!! The atmosphere was lively and the food was wonderful.

The food is always amazing and delicious! I had the Jenga St Louis style ribs and Vegan Chili as an appetizer. My friend ordered one of their salads but she didn't like onions and they put as a garnish so she didn't finish her salad. You will drop $$-$$$ person here. I ordered a lavender Collins without alcohol and it was $14 in a short bourbon glass with an ice ball inside. You go here for the ambiance and need reservations. Note iit is so dark in the restaurant you will need your phone light to read the menu haha. I do come back here every year as a treat for myself. It's valet parking only. More of a "status" place to eat. read more

The boat dock pier was lit up and very pretty, although I think the daytime you would've been much better. The menu was OK, and our server recommended a few items. We ordered appetizers to share and two entrées to share. The food took a while to come out as the kitchen was probably very busy on a weekend night. The food was either over salty over cooked, either too much or too bland. I really don't like my fish over cooked. Just had no flavor overall. Service was spotty. With great food and stunning views, this is definitely a place that I would recommend. Whenever I am at a restaurant by the water, I'm inclined to go with a seafood option. Well, almost every time that I'm at a restaurant on the water I will be inclined to go with the seafood option, there are a few notable exceptions, but they are far and few between. I would definitely recommend the grouper here. I'm a huge fan of grouper and since it comes from our waters, you know that it is fresh. Our server was spot on, the views were stunning and the food was great. What more could you ask for? If you find yourself in the area and ate looking for a great dining experience, I would definitely recommend Shore.
