Having lived and worked near Persian square on the Westside for many years, my standards for Mediterranean is very high. I think Sidewalk Grill hits all the right marks. The food is fresh and flavorful, prices are fair and they have an awesome selection of side dishes which IMO are the best part of Mediterranean cuisine. Entrees can be ordered as plates, salads or wraps and come with your choice of one or two side dishes. I always get two because it only costs $1 more and there are so many options, it's nigh impossible to settle for one. I love the hummus, tzatziki, greek salad and pasta salad. They also have soups and other classics like babaganoush, tabouleh and shirazi. While it's an order at the counter, take your number and fill your own drink type of establishment, the ambiance is quite nice. I love the serene outdoor patio. It feels very European and is perfect for people watching--you're sure to see lots of characters walking up and down Vermont. And while it's a very casual spot, they have a decent wine menu that's only $6 a glass! read more

I came here a while ago and the food here was pretty solid. I wouldn't ask for a side of a sauce though. Their portion of sauce is huge! I thought it would be small so I could dip pita in it, but I could sink an entire pita in the bowl haha. You order like you would at a fast food place, but then you take your number and bring it to your table so they can bring it out to you. Overall I enjoyed the place. There's a little fountain near the dining area so it adds to the ambiance of the place. It's a great lunch spot, but it's not for huge groups of people with their small outdoor seating. It was a really chilly night whilst visiting the Sidewalk Grill. It was a welcomed sight to have heaters in an enclosed exterior area of this small and cozy spot. Chicken Kebab Plates with sides were ordered. Overall, everything tasted good. The Chicken was flavorsome; Dolmas and sides of Babaganoush, Hummus and Tzaziki tasted as expected. The complimentary Alkaline water was nice. Order at the counter and get a number. The only comment I have would be that portion wise it was on the smaller size compared to other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern Restaurants. Not sure if they were refillable, but the three small pita wedges accompanying the dips didn't go far. The Salad accompanying was also a little small. We used a Groupon and purchased 3 plates: lamb kabob, grilled chicken, and grilled steak with sides of rice, babaganoush, hummus, pasta salad, tomato soup (sour but so creamy!), and pea soup. The highlight was the dab of this garlic purée cream that was AMAZING to pair with all the meats and add a hint of fragrance. I don't always have too much time at lunch to grab food and I love that it's ready exactly when they say it will be. The chicken breast is my go too, I like how it's not too dry! We didn't eat the healthiest during our trip, so we wanted to eat a bit "clean" during our last night and the food here was perfect. She mentioned something about finding a spot with delicious looking meat. So I trusted and followed her Sidewalk Grill. We were hungry, tired, and had a long day. I was excited when I found this place, but I hate to say it as somebody who is really into middle eastern food and knows it pretty well, it's a bit mediocre at least the chicken shawarma...the flour tortilla was just that, which was REALLY disappointing. A shawarma should be wrapped in a Lebanese pita-ish bread which is to die for...this, I dumped out the inside and picked at it. Another sad moment for me was the cold dry pita they served the dips with, I asked them to heat the pita up and it did make it better. Needed to find a replacement after the debacle going on with Panini Kabob Grill and their ownership at the Glendale location (they are now Salt + Olive, and they're not the same even though they sell literally the same things) but in any case, my wife turned me to Sidewalk Grill one day, and while I was hesitant at first, I don't regret ordering from them. The kabobs were fresh and great, and the side was fantastic. Only ding is the portions, which while they're good, they're a bit on the dainty side of things. I really don't understand the high ratings of this place. If you've never had Mediterranean food or Persian kabobs, maybe it's ok to you. But if you have experience with Mediterranean food it is really awful. I got the Filet mignon plate. The kabob's cook was great but the taste and smell was disgusting. One of the worst kabobs I've ever had. I think it's the type of meat they use and seasoning. My friend got the falafel, the only vegan option. It was... it wasn't eatable. It was nothing like falafels and tatsed so weird. She took one bite the size of a penny and ended up having just rice and salad.
